No LTE for Germany

Hey guys,
today i saw that the S3 for germany will not support LTE.... i really dont get it.. why the hell is samsung doing this ? its completly nonsense... On every other location they will ship a LTE version.. Of course Germany does not have a complete support for LTE, but it is growing very fast.
It really sucks to have many different types of the S3 like the Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Bell and so on.... Does someone know if they are only 2 different types or more ?
They cant be serious, and of course, the want for the S3 with LTE around 600€ and without the same price....
I really hope, that they think again about this decision and ship every S3 with, wether the country supports LTE or not...
What do you guys think about that ?

I won't miss it as much as many will becoz LTE isn't really supported here in Germany as in e.g. the USA...

Hmm you are right mate. But the problem is that many devs come from London, USA and other countrys where LTE is supported so they get other device and our device won't support the roms they develop.. that will be horrible :/

I think as long as there aren't more phones with LTE, providers won't support it more..
I am from austria and also a bit upset that there won't be an LTE version because at least in vienna LTE is already growing.

No, we will get the same international device. We won't just be able to use LTE because it's set to the wrong frequecies and cannot be changed as far as I know.
Same with the iPad 3.

Does LTE really have speeds and the data plans to make it worth it over HSPA+? I mean I download hella fast on Three over here in the UK and it has Unlimited data. I've never thought the internet on the phone was too slow, it's faster than my mates broadband and I can stream BBC iPlayer desktop site and Netflix just fine.
I could just imagine coverage being crap as it's just been adopted and if your companies are like what they are here in the UK they'll give you 500mb which you'll hit the limit within 5 mins.

We will get the version that was demoed a week ago with the quad-core exynos, that version will not support "4G", and not only because of frequency bands but because the "4G"(3G-LTE) being rolled out in Europe is not "true" 4G like in the US.
The US version will probably get the Snapdragon S4 as that is currently the best SoC out there that has 4G-LTE built-in, unless Samsung actually has a Exynos SoC with 4G-LTE.
But if they start rolling out 4G-LTE in Europe then frequency bands may also be an issue.

The so called 4G (LTE) in Europe is nothing more than HSPA+ and it's basically only an enhanced version of 3G. Most people are calling it 3.5G+ but it's capable of delivering "true" 4G lte speed. America's providers Sprint/Verizon/AT&T are providing the real 4G technology which the S3 won't be able to achieve due to different frequencies. But from what I know T-Mobile and AT&T are also providing HSPA+ speed as some providers in Europe.
That's completely nonsense that Germany won't get the international version which does indeed supports HSPA+. But the other question would be if your provider do offer it.

Why are people still spreading this nonsense, i.e. that there is no "true" LTE in Europe?
Germany does have "true" LTE, the same as is used in the U.S. (but on different bands). Deutsche Telekom is offering up to 100 Mbit/s in their tariffs.
And the network isn't as small as some people make it out to be (and fast growing):

It's true that they offer 42 Mbit/s HSPA+ - but they also have LTE on top of that.

It's funny you say "true" 4g speeds, no network on this planet offers "true" 4g speeds.
No American carrier even gets upto a tenth of what true 4g is.
The LTE out now is 3.9G and carriers don't even offer that fully.

this is directed more at the OP than anything, but I own both versions of the phone and have access to LTE networks that regularly get 40-50 mb/s down. In day to day use yes it's faster, but when I use the s4 stateside version browsing the internet literally chunks my battery down by 20 percent points over 20-30 minutes. Streaming video is even more of a joke you might get 2 hours before the phone dies. the HSPA speeds are more than enough for me and I get more than double the battery life just by not using LTE networks. Hope this helps, you shouldn't feel like you're getting ripped off both versions of the phone are good, but I prefer the international version as well as most of the community would agree.

News has it that both Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone will be offering the Galaxy S3 LTE starting mid-october. It will have a quad-core, like the UMTS version.

Same in the UK man... While LTE will be rolled out this and next year, I've already bought my S3, so I don't have the correct chip... which kinda annoys me! But even if I had the South Korean or US version, the frequencies are different. Sadly, there are no definitive standards for this stuff, so each country, and even each network just pics whatever works for them. Kinda sux!
To add insult to injury though, I can't even get DC-HSPA! Every network in the UK are doing it EXCEPT Vodafone. Not sure why, but they won't do it. My S3 supports it and all, but Voda are being annoying.
Ahh well, in another 2 years I'll have a 4G phone I guess

The German and the Korean Version might be the same, if I'm not mistaken, since Germany needs 800/1800/2600 and Korea 800/1800. From what I've heard the UK will start off with re-farmed 1800 and later add 800/2600, so they would likely be compatible. Not entirely sure.

On the Samsung UK website, for the S3, it lists the data speed spec as HSPA+21 , which is not DC-HSPA. Does that mean there needs to be a radio update or something before these speeds can be used, or Samsung's website is wrong....?

Hi.. I hav a question. Am from India n my Sister will be sending me a Nexus 6P from USA.. Will there be any difference between USA version & Indian version and will it effect the Mobile in anyway? And i understand that when u buy a Phone from outside your home country, the manufacturer's warranty will not be valid, am i right?

Looking at India's bands on Wikipedia, I can tell you that you'll face some issues. Aircel uses band 40 which is not available in the US version. But of course available in the -rest of the world- version.

Using NA Version In Japan

So I live Tokyo Japan. I would easily buy the Japanese version, but the the price is rape city at ¥74,000. Does anyone know if the North American version will work in Japan? The NA version even at proper dollar conversion is at only ¥59,000 yen.

Yes and no. It lacks most of the LTE bands used so you may not get LTE in Japan. But you might, and sometimes people figure out how to enable extra bands so there's that. If I were you though I wouldn't count on it working on LTE, but that's just me.
What carrier do you have, I could tell you a bit more if you tell me.
Edit: never mind see you have DoCoMo. Like I said in the other thread, you only would get band 3, not sure if they have band 3 in Tokyo.

I had no idea there are us version and global version
Will US version work in Israel? how can I check it, I tried to see in willmyphonework.net but I cant find Nexus 6p there

as per wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks) Israel uses band 3for LTE.
as per google (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6p)
The american version has band 3, so it should work.

How does the differences between the European Exynos 8895 and the new American SnapDragon look this time? Will we be able to modify the phone fully as our European counterparts do? or will various Roms in America be simply ignored again? Would it be better to wait a month for the unlocked versions to come out?
and of course, any ideas on when we might get root?

I have an AT&T S8+ I'm playing with for 14 days while I'm waiting for my UK S8+ to arrive. You can delete or disable most of AT&T's crap and afterwards the phone is surprisingly clean. I'm still getting the UK version primarily for its purity, updates, and because it's about $200 cheaper taking in to account tax avoidance.
If you're importing check the LTE bands which differ by region. The UK phones don't support T-Mobile band 12 or AT&T band 30. The latter's a nice to have while the former is a have to have. T-Mobile's band 12 is their low frequency band which handles distance and penetration.

How would anyone be positive within 24 hours?

Clove in the UK; I've ordered from them before. Because they are an authorized Samsung reseller the phone has a two-year EU warranty. Only problem is you have to send it to the UK for service. I had to do that once before and I paid the shipping out and Samsung paid the shipping back. The BTU (UK) phones support all AT&T's band except band 30. That's a high frequency band which means it's less effective at distance and penetration. My market doesn't even have band 30. The UK phones are missing T-Mobile's band 12 and that is an issue as its their low frequency band.

1. Is it really a $200 difference? I checked the site and the galaxy s8 plus is going to be $860 which is not a lot cheaper.
2. How can I know if my area has the LTE band 30?

Exynos on AT&T or T mobile

Does anybody use the exynos varient on AT&T or T-Mobile? I'm wondering if you get good service. I'm currently using an exynos S8+ on AT&T without any problems.

Thank you for the information. I looked up the S9 exinos on frequencycheck.com. It supports 3 out of the 4 4g bands on AT&T. According to the website the s10 exynos only supports 2 out of 4. So that doesn't help too much but I never thought about checking the s9 since I know it works well.

Works great for me. I got an Exynos from Australia when my phone died. Checked the bands for SM-G975F, and it has all the T-Mobile LTE bands EXCEPT band 71. So you will be good unless you go into rural USA.
Only thing I don't get is Carrier Aggregation. I have wifi calling and VOLTE..

I get great LTE Speeds - the only thing I don't get is Wifi Calling and ATT Video Calling - ATT only supports their phones for those features - at least until there is a custom CSC that we can flash (like someone did for the Note 9, S8Plus, etc)

Thank you for the info. I want to keep AT&T but I would switch to T-Mobile to get the exynos variant if needed. But I'm glad I can keep my service. I had the original IPhone and I'm grandfathered in to the original unlimited data plan. I didn't even know AT&T offered wifi calling. Before my exynos s8+ I had a note 4 and for about a year my moms extra free IPhone 6. It wasn't an option back then. I don't really care about WiFi calling though. I get good service where it matters most. I can't wait for S10+ Roms!

I get limited carrier aggregation on my Exynos S10+ on T-mobile which helps a little. It still lacks the full CA support tho.

How do you check that? I check on my service menu and it says CA:None
I do see that I am sometimes connected to three of the same band at the same time.

First you download a file or run speed test using speed test app, then at the same time dial *#0011# and select SIM slot it'll say CA added or CA active. This means you're getting some form of aggregation

That's what I've been doing, but I don't see CA added or active. I wonder why mine doesn't even have CA on. Just CA none.

And you have the Exynos version correct? Try it in a different area away from your home and see if it activates. If nothing works, factory reset may help.

I am on Exynos, wouldn't have this problem with the SD version (I'd hope). I have factory reset a few times, but never see the CA as activated. I'll check from time to time, but also away from my house it doesn't show that CA is activated. Might be the XSF (australian) version that doesn't aggregate the t-mobile bands.

That could be it. I'm using TPA CSC and some other people on that CSC confirmed carrier aggregation working on T-mobile.
Snapdragon (Chinese or Hong Kong variant) does not support carrier aggregation in T-mobile from what a user posted.

Do you have a link to the post where it is CA is confirmed on TMO?

For which model the Chinese Snapdragon?
CA is working for me on Exynos. It is not the same as US Snapdragon CA but still better than no CA at all

Do you need to flash a CSC and/or modem from a US carrier onto an exynos international phone to get VoWIFI, CA, VoLTE, etc? Or does it "just work?" If you need a special CSC do you just pull HOME_CSC out of a US carrier's firmware and flash it with odin or something?

You should not flash any firmware from a Snapdragon into a Exynos..... You may not be able to get some of the service provider options using the Exynos firmware, i guess is a try and see situation, but one thing is for sure do not flash a Snapdragon firmware into an Exynos.
Everything else should work , modem is ready for all frequencies but CDMA

in case anyone comes looking, i've tried it on an exynos G973F with XSG csc (one of the OXM multi ones) just because that's what was on the phone.
VoLTE seems to be working on T-Mobile in the US without any messing around, based on the "HD" icon appearing during voice calls. Voice over WiFi seems to also work.
The phone is dual SIM with a TMO sim and an ATT sim. It doesn't get VoLTE on ATT, but I believe that's probably because AT&T only allows it on approved devices.
