Using NA Version In Japan - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I live Tokyo Japan. I would easily buy the Japanese version, but the the price is rape city at ¥74,000. Does anyone know if the North American version will work in Japan? The NA version even at proper dollar conversion is at only ¥59,000 yen.

Anyone?

Yes and no. It lacks most of the LTE bands used so you may not get LTE in Japan. But you might, and sometimes people figure out how to enable extra bands so there's that. If I were you though I wouldn't count on it working on LTE, but that's just me.
What carrier do you have, I could tell you a bit more if you tell me.
Edit: never mind see you have DoCoMo. Like I said in the other thread, you only would get band 3, not sure if they have band 3 in Tokyo.

I see ou can help about it
I have ordered the US version (as I have a friend in us right now) and I live in Israel
I had no idea there are us version and global version
Will US version work in Israel? how can I check it, I tried to see in willmyphonework.net but I cant find Nexus 6p there

as per wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks) Israel uses band 3for LTE.
as per google (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6p)
The american version has band 3, so it should work.

AT&T Galaxy Tab

I am on AT&T for the main reason that I travel frequently to Europe and Asia (Japan, Hong Kong) and it's the carrier who happens to have devices with 3G bands compatible nearly worldwide (Even though I don't like so much the price AT&T is costing me...)
So... really considering now to switch to the Galaxy tab and say good bye to my good old TP2 (heavily overclocked so still with a bit of life in it !)
I have a few questions
1. there are rumors here and there saying the Tab for AT&T wont have the front facing camera (And then some other places where it's listed as a spec of the AT&T tab). Anybody can confirm / infirm this ? (Would be really pissed to pay such a price for the device if it has been castrated)
2. AT&T is the last US carrier not to have announced a launch date for the tab... (Maybe it's willing to be a bit nice to Apple and its recently commercialized iPad, or maybe it's just an old and slow company...). Pure speculation: is there a chance we'll be able to switch the tab bands from T-Mobile like some have successfully done with other Samsung phones from the galaxy family ?
3. Another pure speculation: has Samsung actually disabled the hardware for voice calls on the US versions ? I hope his will be solved by flashing another firmware. Otherwise I'll just end up buying an international version (Which will be much more expensive...)
You can get the unlocked north american version which should be out by next week. It will cost you an arm and a leg but WILL work with the 850/1900 at&t 3g bands. Here are a few sites that have it:
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=26929
or
http://negrielectronics.com/samsung-p1000-galaxy-tab-3g-850-1900-2100-oem-unlocked.html
Hope this helps.

Thanks. Yes these bands are AT&T ones. Though waiting a few more weeks should allow to get it directly from AT&T at a lower price...
The good news is, if the websites are correct about the specs, the front facing camera is there (And I doubt Samsung will make a different Tab)
Seem to imply the voice call work to (negrielectronics) but it could be a mistake or a trick (works only through skype...) or just simple taht we are talking about an overseas model with the right 3G bands

What concerns me are the comments that suggest US carriers will somehow restrict their service to GT so only data will work (no voice). So that raises the question for those of us who get the unlocked version - how do we get our Gt on to ATT or others? I guess I'm asking which ATT phone is it close enough to that I can acuire and swap the SIM card?

Well, from what I hear is the 850/1900 band version will be an unlocked north amaerican version which can work with rogers (Canada) and at&t for the US by just adding your SIM card in. It is unknow weather the at&t network will identify the galaxy tab and change your plan accordingly if that is even how it will work with at&t. I beleive they WILL have a different plan for data for this device as T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are following this. Also, the at&t version WILL be a different model in appreance and features as this unlocked one will not. Probablly because at&t WILL remove the front camera and who knows what else (thanks to the iphone). That is why the samsung site has not put the at&t version on their site yet. really do hope it will be treated as a PDA phone thru at&t's network (for the unlocked version)

That's funny as they told me last Friday that the warehouse in CA is expecting them on November 10th. Also, I work near the mobile city online store in NYC and stopped in there and they said this week they would have them. hmmm
UPDATE: Just sent a message to my contact @ Nergi. He said they just received the notice that this version of the tab will not be in till early 2011. You were right clubtech... Was hoping you were wrong.. lol That sucks!
Mmh all I have been reading so far sucks
Figured I would fire up this thread and bump it up as Bell is releasing the Galaxy Tab on November 12th. That will be our solution for the 850/1900 3G version I guess..? I sent a message to Nergi to see if they will have this version. I'll keep you posted.
I have my G-Tab now (Euro version with phone and data working great on AT&T in USA) Be glad to answer questions. General comment: I LOVE it! The form factor and wt are just right for me and it has all the features I miss on my iPad. Only criticism is that I find Android a bit less stable than IOS but that might be what Gingerbread or Honeycomb will address.

Are you getting good 3g coverage? I see your in PA... Close to me. I know the 1900 band does blanket this area to some degree but the 850 band is alot stronger. I think I may wait for a full 3g band with both 850/1900 bands. Seems like the bell version will be the answer to that. Glad to hear you love the device.
I read that the bell version can't make any phone calls fyi .

Yes the 3g coverage is fine in the Reading area (better than my iphone, not sure why) I made decision to go for the Eur version when it became apparent the ATT version would be limited to data (no phone) and I couldn't get an answer on whether the "North American" version (with 850 UMTS) would arrive with phone capability OK. I saw a map of ATT 1900 coverage and saw that it takes care of at least 75% of the US, including virtuall all of the East, so I'm comfortable with my decision.

Yes that's my hope. It's also probably a sign the AT&T one must be around the corner
I could not find out whether the Bell one would have call functions or not (That would be another great sign or opportunity)

[Q] LTE Version

I think I've convinced myself to get one of these, but am wondering if I am correct in my understanding that there are 2 versions coming: One with LTE and one without.
If that is correct, will the LTE version still do everything radiowise (GSM/HSPA+ etc) and just also add LTE capabilities to the mix?
Finally, I am working in Sweden at the moment, I assume the LTE version will work with Telia's network (in LTE mode)?

This is what me and a lot of other people are wondering about. The marketing rep for Samsung said in a video that it will have HSPA+ AND LTE but does that mean two different models? Or that the capabilities of both are stock? The spec sheets don't say anything about LTE on any of the pre-order sites I've found but the samsung page says that it is an LTE device. I'm completely confused. I wanna buy the unlocked unbranded version but not if it doesn't include LTE...
I saw from somewhere that the Korean version will have LTE support. No information about NFC.

Yeah we get LTE + NFC for korean market but it sucks when you leave the country and realize it's not gonna work

James,
Why does it not work when you leave the country?
Also, do you know if the LTE+NFC version does everything the non-LTE version does (eg HSPA+)?
I'm thinking of just ordering one in from S Korea if it does....
I too want to know: HSPA+ AND LTE or is it one or the other but not both?
Thanks,
Any further update on LTE now that there has actually been some delivery ?
Is there a S Korean ship date for the LTE version?
Yes, very good question! I have been following this release closely the last couple of days, but no words on this issue!
It's really strange, as this is the one real deal breaker for me. No way I am going to buy this device without LTE.
But don't you guys think that they are releasing this in the beginning of next year when first movers have bought this and the fuzz about the product stops? I guess so, unfortunately. It's basically the same story with Galaxy S II / LTE version.

But with all those LTE frequencies, doesn't it kind of have to be compatible? AT&T uses band 2, 4 and 17 so this phone should work on AT&T LTE since it supports band 4.

Don't waste your time ask Huawei service team.. They doesnt know the phone much than you.
There is 2GB+16GB ROM version FDD-LTE band: B1/B3 1800MHz/2100MHz
3GB RAM+32GB ROM version FDD-LTE band: B1/B3/B7 1800MHz/2100MHz/2600MHz
T-Mobile FDD-LTE: 1700/2100 ?
There are only B1/B3/B7 now because the MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology,Chinese Telecom manage department) limited.
You will enjoy more bands after un-limited-- Need 2-3 months since Chinese FDD-LTE marketing develop slowly.
Yes, Need flash NEW ROM un-limited then.

Just because it was working doesn't mean he got full LTE speed. As far as my research took me Band 4 (AWS) of T-Mobile uses a 2100 MHz range downlink and 1700 MHz range uplink.
Specs on the Huawei site lists a whole slew of bands, including band 4. It is strange though that sellers on Alibaba and emails from oppomart.com state to the contrary. I just asked oppomart about this and pointed them to the Huawei spec page, and they said then it should support band 4...

Great News! Chinese version works on T-Mobile with LTE

This is a glorious day!!!!
Ok, so I was browsing Youtube for some reviews of the Ascend Mate 7 and I came across this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNVV20U5qtU (website here: http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/09/huawei-ascend-mate-7-first-impressions.html)
The reviewer (Alexander Maxham) said that he had a Chinese version that was sent to him by Huawei. I asked in the comments whether he had tried any North American SIM cards, and these are the responses I got:
Me:
Thanks for the video. Quick question. I assume you're in North America somewhere, have you tested the Chinese version that you have on any of the North American Networks? There seems to be some confusion about whether there will be a US-specific version of the device or if the Chinese version will give HSPA+ or LTE in the US and Canada.
Alex:
Right now, I have a AT&T sim in there, and it's only HSPA+. But it should work completely on T-Mobile's LTE network. I don't have their SIM right now but should have one in a few days.
Me:
Okay great. If you could give us update when you get it and try it, i'm sure many people would appreciate it. This phone looks great btw. It's almost certainly going to be my next phone (coming from Note 3). I'll subscribe so I can see your full review when it's posted.
Alex:
It fully works on T-Mobile. About the same speeds as my T-Mobile branded LG G3 is getting. Kind of weird usually foreign phones work completely on AT&T and only get EDGE and sometimes HSPA+ on T-Mobile. But it's full on LTE this time around, which is great.
I see no reason to doubt him. And this makes me very happy. Full LTE on T-Mobile!

Sorry, didn't look at the video, when you say that he talks about using it with at&t and t-mobile, are you saying he says LTE works on T-Mobile?
yes, I will go and look at the video, just can't do that at work.

Yes thats right. He got LTE on T-mobile. He said it was way better speeds than he got with his G3
I find this incredibly ridiculous that news sources, websites, and even Huawei themselves doesn't know what networks the Mate 7 works on. I'll wait for 2 or 3 more people to confirm this works on T-Mobile before buying it. I'd want the 32GB/3GB RAM version, will that work with TMo LTE?
Good news if it works with T Mobile

I will be going to Taipei and Thailand in November so maybe I can buy the Mate 7 there. My big worry is whether there would be various models or variations in hardware configurations. I still find it strange that it seems hard to determine if a phone works with a specific carrier until it gets used on that carrier. If the phone says it works on Bands 2 and 4 should it not definitely work on T Mobile's LTE network? I sometimes wonder if the cell phone companies purposely confuse the issue so you will not buy a different phone. I am not an iphone guy but I believe I read that the Sprint and US Cellular Iphones (and maybe Verizon?)
support virtually every cell phone band in the world, if true, that is what I would like to see in a phone. You never know when you might make a wrong turn and end up in Chad or Outer Mongolia!

Not sure what bands its connecting on... as Tmobile in USA looks like it has 700, 1700 and 1900... but none of those are the reported 1,3,7 LTE FDD bands that the the mate7 is supposed to have.... maybe it also has band 2?
EDIT: If this is true, then it all makes sense how the reviewer was getting full speeds on tmobile. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55468358&postcount=1 + http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55500623&postcount=3IF those bands are available while roaming, then it makes sense as band 2 would enable it. Also band 4.

Further confirmation that the device gets LTE on T-mobile.
So according to this, it works on at LTE too?

Yes. From the article:
" This version of the Ascend Mate 7 supports LTE and HSPA+ on T-Mobile and AT&T so I am enjoying it on T-Mobile's LTE network."
He didn't list a specific version, but I'm sure he would have mentioned if it were a US specific version as opposed to the normal Chinese version. So far all of the reviews that I have seen where Huawei has sent out a device have been the Chinese version.
Wonder which Chinese version it is since I want to pick one up next month when I travel. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I don't know personally. Mayne you should go to the article and ask in the comments. They might be kind enough to let you know the specific model number.
I went ahead and asked which version he had working on t-mobile lte in the comments. He said...... "It shows model number MT7-L09. This one has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage"
He also mentioned with his pre paid ATT sim he was only getting HSPA+.
Interesting. It could be the APN with his att prepaid Sim. But at least it works for T-Mobile for sure.

MT7-TL10 the 3 gig gold model appears to support identical bands as the 2 gig model above.
It appears aliexpress has updated the description online to include bands 2 and 4 now

This confirms what I posted in the other thread from the Youtube reviewer (Alex from AndroidHeadlines) who stated that he had gotten HSPA+ on AT&T, but LTE on T-Mobile.
When I Googled the model number (MT7-L09) it brought me to this page (http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-phones/support/manuals/ascend-mate7.htm) which has a US/English support manual for the phone and specs that list bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28.
MT7-L09 doesn't appear to be on sale anywhere online? I would rather the 3 gig model anyway. Might just pony up and try it. Shows the band's I need supported now. Coming from the note 3 this is exactly what I hoped the note 4 to be.

Yeah me too. I am just worried about ordering from Aliexpress and having it take a month to get to me. They are notorious for taking forever to ship to the US.
I really wish Huawei would get their stuff together and get this device in people's hands. Just put it on your website and let people pre-order it at least.

[Q] So confused with all the variants

Hi, I've been a S4 user and a very intrigued reader on this website. XDA has taught me many great things about my Sprint S4. I'm now ready to make the leap to the Note 4 and I'm so confused with all of the different models available.
Here's what I want the phone to do:
- I live in the US, and I would like to set up the phone on the Straight Talk or AT&T network and I obviously want to take advantage of the fastest speeds Straight Talk/AT&T offers.
- I am traveling to England in the Summer for a month and I would like the phone to work on one of their networks. (I would like to have 4G, but if 3G is the only compatible band than that's fine, as long as I'm getting some sort of data).
- I travel to Canada on a monthly basis and I would like my Note 4 to be able to run on the Rogers Network and utilize the fast speeds Rogers offers.
Basically, which Note 4 model will satisfy my needs? I just want to take advantage of the fastest bands available in these places. I've been leaning towards the N910H because my understanding is that it is compatible with all of my above requirements. Is this true? If not, which model should I be look at?
Thank you!

I can't say for certain about Rogers Canada, but the US T-mobile variant- SM-910T- is what I have, and you should look into it. Maybe someone with Rogers can chime in about that.
It's 100% compatible with AT&T's fastest LTE bands and most 4G GSM bands used in Europe. It has an unlocked bootloader for easy rooting/ROM-flashing. There is an awesome XDA section devoted to it with some great ROMs and other tweaks. Of course, the major benefit is that if you stroll into a T-mobile store any buy one, it will have a warranty and service options if something were to possibly be wrong with it. Now, you'll need to get the phone SIM-unlocked either through T-mobile directly or an online sim-unlocking service (~ $20-30)
If you wanna spend less in the States, the 910T sells on craigslist, swappa, ebay, etc in pretty large numbers and it's very easy to obtain one in mint condition for a lot less than retail. Obviously, make sure that the device has a good IMEI through swappa.com before buying it used.
I find that lots of people buy the Note 4 and decide to sell it after a while- either they prefer something smaller, or an iPhone, or any number of other reasons like wanting extra cash, but there's tons of em on craigslist here in Chicago.
I bought a Sprint Note 4 in perfect condition from a guy for $350 the other week. Not saying you will necessarily have that type of luck, but just something to ponder.
i use 910U on rogers and AT&T gophone. also used it in the UK, most of europe and asia. this is an exynos taiwan variant with LTE. may not give you the fastest speeds everywhere but its awesome.
In the UK we get the Snapdragon 910F, but the 910H looks good according to the bands I've seen online (I don't know if they're correct mind!)
In the UK different networks use different bands (900, 1800, 2100, etc) for 3G; with some of the bands being shared amongst companies these days. Ideally you want a device that supports 900Mhz UTMS, and the 910H supports the band. The 900Mhz band has better indoor coverage than the higher frequencies as well.
Again 4G is on different bands depending on your provider, but the networks share most of the spectrum at the moment to reduce costs. I believe 4G is on 800, 1800, and 2600Mhz

IDK about LTE, but phones for China/HK will work on our 3G networks. I've tried a few 3G iphone knockoffs and had no issues.
