Downgrade from Marshmallow 6.0.1 to LP 5.1.1
Hey there ...
after all my attempts to downgrade from MM to LP without facing any trouble , i found finally the correct method to downgrade :victory: , here we go :good:
( ..................(( what do you need )).................. ) 1- your current MM firmware or EFS☆IMEI☆Backup if you are a root user .
2- stock LP firmware for the same country ( ex : if you are using MM 6.0.1 "XFA" download LP 5.1.1 "XFA" ... etc)
download firmwares form here : SM-J700F ,SM-J700H ,SM-J700M .
3- odin 3.10.7 from here .
5- img ,bin to tar tool from here .
Now after download ALL stuffs , let's do it
( ..................(( THE METHOD )).................. ) 1- Wipe data/factory reset and cache partition from Recovery ( to enter recovery shut down your phone then hold volume up ,menu, power keys ) .
"" BEFORE DOING THAT IF YOU ARE ROOT USER BACK UP YOUR IMEI USING EFS☆IMEI☆Backup THEN MOVE THE FILE TO EXT CARD OR PC ""
2- Next , choose power down and then enter Downloading Mode (hold volume down ,menu, power keys) and choose continue.
3- Now , from PC extract your LP firmware using WinRAR or 7 Zip , you will find 8 files : (( sboot.bin ,boot.bin ,system.bin ,modem.bin ,csc.bin ,Hidden.bin ,cache.img ,cm.bin ))

4- delete sboot.bin and cm.bin then move the other 6 files to img ,bin to tar tool folder .
5- launch the "ImgToTar.MD5.bat" to create the firmware file (contains only these 6 files) with the extension of tar.md5 , wait for 3 min until the commond prompt close ( the black window ) and open AllFiles folder ,you will find the new LP firmware which named (( allfiles.tar.md5 ))
6- Now , connect you phone and open odin select the firmware (( allfiles.tar.md5 )) press Start and wait until it PASS.
7- wait until finish installing system update , then DON'T LET THE PHONE BOOT TO SAMSUNG LOGO , REMOVE THE BATTERY FOR 10 SEC AND AND GO TO RECOVERY WIPE DATA AND CACHE AGAIN ,THEN REBOOT IT
7- it will take 2-3 min stucking on Samsung logo because of wiping data after that setup the quick settings which require from you for the first boot .

8- Now , you will notice that there is NO NETWORK , this is because of downgrading DON'T WORRY we will fix it

9- remember you have downloaded MM 6.0.1 firmware now we will use it , ""or if you root user you have backed up you IMEI""
10- extract from your MM firmware Modem.bin file
11- move it to img ,bin to tar tool folder and lunch ImgToTar.MD5.bat , you will find in the main folder a new file named modem.tar.md5 .
11- put your phone on downloading mode again , and flash modem.tar.md5 using odin ,and wait until it PASS.
12-Congratulations .. check out now your Network , you find it WORKS
"" FOR ROOT USERS SKIP 10-12 STEPS , ROOT YOUR PHONE AGAIN , INSTALL EFS☆IMEI☆Backup AND RESTOR YOUR BACKED UP IMEI , OR YOU CAN DO THESE STEPS "
That's it .. Enjoy now your Lollipop
"if you find it helpful please don't forget to hit thanks ,its free i swear "**** **** ****

You upgraded to latest version before downgrading?....Did you updated you phone after november security update????

I'm looking all over for a 5.11 stock rom to downgrade a SM-J700P but no luck. Any idea where I can get one? Im on MM (6.0.1) and it stock and unrooted. I'm doing this because I'm trying to get past the FRP. Thanks!

India DDLR9 - Installation + Root + Mods

Download :
Getting OTA
OTA will be available if you are on full stock Indian ROM.
So user who are on other ROM OR on rooted LR6 with other kernel first follow this
First make backup of your data.
If you are on ICS ROM, wipe cache and data with safe kernel
If you are on GB ROM, straightway wipe cache and data
Check your CSC by *#272*IMEI#
If it is not set to INU, you won't get update, if you have have choice to select INU from list, select it. it will erase your data.
If you dont have INU in the list, Flash CSC of LR6 with CSC tab of PC odin.
PS. All i have described regarding CSC, should be performed under safe kernel.
Once after checking CSC is set to INU, Flash DDLR6 ROM with PC odin, After flashing LR6 successfully you will get OTA for LR9.
Full ROM Installation
You can use PC odin OR Mobile Odin to flash, here below steps for both method.
Installation with PC Odin
1.a Pre installation : (For clean installation, optional)
- Make backup with Titanium Backup or other similiar app.
- First flash GB ROM if you are on any other Custom ROM, wipe cache, data from recovery on GB ROM
- If you are on ICS ROM, flash safe kernel if you are on stock kernel then wipe cache and data
1.b Final Installation
- Download ICS ROM, and extract it to .tar file
- Download Odin, open it
- select PDA tab and point to ROM file. Leave Re-partition, pit, CSC, Phone tab unticked (see Image below)
- Switch off device, Put in download mode (Vol down + Home + Power)
- completely close kies, Anti virus if running
- Connect device to PC
- ID com port shud turn yellow (see image)

Now disconnect device, it will reboot itself.
Rooting :
Use this thread method 1.
Installation with Mobile Odin Image have name is vary according your ROM, image is just for demo purpose.
If you have rooted device with stock ROM, you can use Mobile odin
-Download ROM and exract file and copy to Int/Ext SD card
-Download safe kernel in tar and copy to SD card
-Open Mobile odin, select open file and point to ROM file you have copied
-Now all required field will be filled up
-Open Kernel tab and point to Safe kernel file in tar, you have copied (see image below)
-Flash
Keyboard error 'null typing'
-Download This
-Flash using PC Odin with CSC tab (recommended on safe kernel)

-Transparent accuwether
-Transparent News and wether
-Call Recording
-15 Toggle systemUI
-TopicWall
Note2/S3 Livewallpaper
1.Feathers
2.Drop :
3.Dandelion
Changelog :
- new launcher (like the Galaxy S3)
- new gallery with fancy 3D effects
- new contact list
- pop-up video can now be resized
- Chat On and flipboard new application
Thanks Doc, but what I have observed is that if you have rooted ever and have installed mods or replaced system apps, then OTA is not successful, I was on stock LR6 with stock kernel and INU csc but OTA failed twice (after download, unsuccessful attempt to update), I un-rooted but still no luck, so I tried this,
1. Flashed stock Indian GB firmware using pc odin
2. Performed full wipe in stock recovery
3. Updated to latest available update LR6 using kies.
4. Then updated to LR9 OTA
Now I have rooted it again and have installed all mods
found the ota downloaded but cannot install...
after rebooting it goes into installation screen (green android with rotating Dodecahedron or Icosidodecahedron)
then after 5 sec or 5% cell reboots with message "updating failed try updating through kies later" ( or something like that).
and there is no update for kies as of yet.
what to do??
i am on stock rom with speedmod k3-13 and rooted with CWM method.
i saw your method.. is there any other method.. i dont want to wipe/f reset..
thanks
Thanks. It worked!!!

you should be on stock kernel to update officially (kies or OTA)
Why we are not having rom to flash through odin instead???
@ jeetu
Yes jeetu, that why i have asked to flash stock LR6 before flashing OTA.
Can I flash stock LR6 using Mobile Odininstead of PC Odin? I got the OTA but failes to install because on HydraCore. So need to go back to stock kernel as you advised.

Great!! you can now flash your fav. safe kernel and enjoy it.
OTA works sometimes even if you are rooted but I doubt it works if you have replaced lot of system apps including systemui and all like in my case
I am on lr9 with call mod and 15 toggle and more.
The launcher is fast but somehow little bit laggy.and apps which are on main page which is in sd card then wen u reboot they will disappear....dats not good.
I hav flashed dr ketans pre rooted gb rom and used mobile odin to flash lr6 with stock kernel.
So my lr6 was also rooted.but guys dont put any mod or something please.den i upgraded to lr9 thru ota.nd still was rooted wd supersu and cwm.
Then i flashed hydracore kernel thru mobile odin.so now m on lr9 wd hydracore and with mods

[Q] Confused

Hi. I am really a noob about this. I hope you guys can give me a hand.
I have a samsung galaxy i9505 rooted via ODIN and was able to install the latest non-touch recovery (CWM). Now I want to install a custom ROM. What I find interesting is the arrow ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349774. Now my question is how do I install this properly? I have android 4.2.2 with baseband i9505xxubmg5. This is considered stock as I got it from a carrier locked phone from Globe telecoms Philippines. Do I install the zip file from Arrow ROM 4.3 under CWM recovery? What about ODIN? Do I need to do something under ODIN before proceeding to flashing a custom ROM?

FLash this modem via odin by selecting phone/cp after flashing the custom rom , or you can do an opposite way flash the Modem/custom rom.

Mate , You need to Download/extract/flash the Link i gave you via odin . (Make sure you install Samsung driver to your computer) Turn off your phone manually and wait atleast 10 sec and then hold and press power+VolDown in order to boot into download mode . now open odin and Select phone/CP (Find the .Tar you extracted) Connect both cables wait until you see the (ID.Com became blue in odin) and click start ! once its done it should reboot automatically then remove the cable . Go to your phone setting and check if the baseband change to FNBE. IF that doesnt work try this one
Use Odin
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Power+VolDown)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

Soft bricked, can't find stock roms, it's been 18 hours, I'm slowly losing my mind...

SM-N910G, I flashed chainfire's auto root without first using the Dr K/PhilZ forced/submissive whatever kernel first.
I can't seem to find a normal stock rom to push through Odin without encountering a sea of dodgy download sites.
Can anyone help? Just want a 5.1.1 stock rom...
Even any of the other 5.1.1 builds like Simpl, I can't seem to find a tar file.
Any nudges in the right direction would be very handy.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to return to stock.
Download Samfirm from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Then extract the files and run the tool.
Then enter the model as SM-N910G and the region you are in (CSC)
Then tick the 'Auto' box and press 'Check Update' and the 'Decrypt automatically'
It should look something like this, I put INS which is for India.

Then extract the firmware from the downloaded file using an archive tool such as Winrar and flash it via Odin.
Or use Sammobile.
If you want to install a custom ROM you will need to flash a custom recovery, for the N910G I would recommend this one (TWRP 2.8.7.0):
Download the twrp-2.8.7.0-trltedt.img.tar
https://dl.twrp.me/trltedt/
Flash it using Odin and your phone in download mode.
download stock firmware from sammobile (google it) and flash it with ODIN.
***DO NOT *** download and flash latest 5.1.1 firmware with build number "COJ5" as the latest version of 5.1.1 locks down the bootloader download any version below coj5

Unless you do not care about downgrading to lower bootloaders. It works fine otherwise. But having it locked does suck if you want to downgrade. No way to do it..... Yet.
Thanks for the help fellas, I ended up finding "N910GDTU1COJ3" which I'm flashing with Odin now.
Next time I'll flash the Dr K kernel before I do anything else...
Time to update my sig as well

If you want to return to stock.
Download Samfirm from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Then extract the files and run the tool.
Then enter the model as SM-N910G and the region you are in (CSC)
Then tick the 'Auto' box and press 'Check Update' and the 'Decrypt automatically'
It should look something like this, I put INS which is for India.
Then extract the firmware from the downloaded file using an archive tool such as Winrar and flash it via Odin.

This morning I grabbed a stock ROM from SamMobile and flashed it with Odin, no joy, stuck loading for about 10 minutes. It stopped boot looping at least.
So now I'm following your procedure, I will let you know how I get on.
It's a shame I can't use ADB otherwise I could just flash the Dr K kernel and then auto root with chainfire's tool... I've gotta use Odin for now...
It's downloading now with a CSC code of OPS...

After ODIN flashing, when it hangs, pull battery go into stock recovery and do factory reset.
I can't extract the enc4 files, both 7zip and WinRar don't recognise it...
Tried downloading twice...
I'll go back to my SamMobile download and see if factory resetting will work as suggested by DS...

Stock recovery doesn't allow me to do anything, just hangs there with a "Downloading...." message under the green Android Icon.

So I've just tried a stock ROM I downloaded using this tool, still hanging when trying to boot.
V Frustruating, the stock recovery doesn't allow you to do anything.
I need to convert Dr K's kernel to a tar file somehow so I can flash in Odin... I'm on 5.1.1 and there is a known issue with the bootloader.

Check PM.
There seems to be some confusion here, people are telling me, even on other threads, to do a factory reset in the stock recovery tool.
There might be an issue with recovery then, because I've only got a green android logo with "Downloading..." on the screen, nothing else is available to me.
It's not like previous bootloaders I've used where you use the volume key to select options etc, I literally can't do anything except flash from Odin.
Yes I have tried to flash TWRP using Odin, it didn't work...
OMG... By random luck I decided to hold the volume up key instead of down key when powering on and hey presto I have TWRP...

That's how to boot into recovery. By holding Volume UP, Home Button while powering on.

When you say it isn't possible to go back to older bootloader, does it include EPE3/EPE2 & DOK2 bootloader or were only talking about the earlier bootloader?
As we get longer in the tooth on the Note 4, it would be good to know.
Can we revert from...
LP
MM EPE3
MM EPG2
MM EPJ2

Not unless, someone upgrade and then try to downgrade
OK, dumb question. I've rooted devices, put custom ROMs on them, wiped them, etc. all before. But one thing I'm not sure about.
If I flash this EPJ2 using Odin, would that wipe out all my apps and settings? Or would I only lose root until I re-root?
Just wondering if I should plan on backing everything up. Thanks.
I took the plunge from maximum overdrive, phone feels smoother than before.

Make a backup of everything and the flash it. If your settings and stuff are there, then you got luck. If not use your backup to restore your stuff. Simple and easy..

Update the warning message in OP, T3 users will not be able to downgrade to older bootloader once upgraded to EPJ2.

As, I said any TW MM will work. If you install EPJ2 on top of another ROM, you will obviously lose customization.
If you need to go back to OD, you would need to Wipe your ROM and install OD through TWRP recovery.

Ok, just wanted to know if I could still use OD on the new bootloaders. Wasn't sure if I could still use custom MM ROM's.

My experience is that you can downgrade from the MM Series of T-Mobile Firmware BLs and Modems.
For example, I was successfully able to switch between DOK2, EPE3 and EPJ2 using Odin 3.11.1.
I'll include just the Bootloader (BL) and Modem (CP) Odin files in case anyone wants 'em, as I usually find them in a post somewhere down the line on the official firmware comments.
WARNING: Files are for the T-Mobile Variant Note 4, SM-910T. (I don't own nor have tested these with the 910T3 version.)

3. Load the bootloader file in BL.
3a. Load the modem file in CP.
4. Hit the start button, and let the files flash.
5. If there are no error messages in the log portion of ODIN3, then you have successfully flashed and upgraded to the bootloader/modem.
Note: You can check this in your "Settings - About Phone" section.

Unfortunetly for me, doesn't work on T3.

I put my phone in a bootloop.

Yesterday I tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using Odin CF autoroot with no experience at all. I did something wrong. When it wouldn't work at first and kept giving an error and "FAIL!" message I tried checking for the correct firmware so I googled my model number and found the one for my phone and downloaded it. I'm not sure what I did but my phone is in a bootloop whenever I turn it on and I can't go to recover mode, only download mode. How do I reinstall the correct firmware?
Please help me fix this. Hopefully I won't have to go to a store for repair...
Well u simply
1) go to sammobile
2) find ur model
3) download the latest firmware
4) extract the firmware
5) put the phone in download mode
6) open odin
7) connect phone
8) upload the extracted files to odin into there respective places
9) flash
the phone will automatically reboot after flashing is complete
NOTE: just be sure to flash model specific firmware.
flash stock rom with odin or use samsung software to fully restore original firmware

If I find the correct firmware will it just overwrite or must I remove the current one? I honestly have no idea how this works.
I had this problem once, you need to flash them Individually, one checkbox at per flash. The way to root ur phone should be magisk manager or supersu. First off you need twrp which is 3.2.1.1 that auto root thing in Odin doesn't work. Some custom rooms already have options for root so if ur a beginner it's best u try them.
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ----------
https://dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.html
Flash this as ap it's a custom recovery that everyone uses here. Then use the keys power home vol down to force restart ur phone. Then power home vol up the moment it restarts to reach recovery. wipe everything then Flash a custom rom from the forums. I understand ur frustration that the phone has no way to turn off at all
When I try to flash the twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.md5 file Odin stops responding.

The non md5 download only has a recovery.img file which won't go into AP.
u flash it as a tar file not as the img file, you cant use .img files in odin
do not extract the img just flash the tar.
Btw in Odin the autoreboot and freset time don't matter they don't do anything because if you still don't have an os or recovery it will still send u to dl mode.
once u flash twrp it will automatically boot into recovery no need to hold keys. Then wipe ur phone and install either batman rom (an s8 port with Bixby) or superman rom (stock s7 edge firmware) both have customized installers that allow u to choose addons features and root.
U install custom roms by going to install button then selecting the zip. Also 2 main kernels that most people use are tgp kernel and superstock kernel.
dude, you're so smart, dont know what you're doing and you flash something without any knowledge and preparation...
that situation is fully on you
https://prnt.sc/iyosdg
I can't flash this.
https://prnt.sc/iyot25
Or this.
recovery.img comes in a .zip and nothing else is in it. If I don't extract it how do I flash it?? The .zip doesn't show up as an option in AP.

It hasn't flashed. It stays on file analysis for hours.
It does that if your phone is disconnected and reconnected. Download the official Samsung USB drivers.

I've installed the driver. How long should this take? It isn't saying disconnected.
Flashing a custom recovery should only take 10 seconds. Custom rom 10 minutes. What is the model of your phone check the back of ur phone.

It stays on "File analysis." Does this mean I don't have the right driver? If so, how do I find it? I downloaded the one from the link you shared.
