At 164002, the Xiaomi Mi 5S has taken the number 1 spot from the LeEco Le Pro 3 which scored 163594 on Antutu. Can it beat the Le Pro 3 in other departments as well?
http://techwanderer.com/xiaomi-mi-5s-vs-leeco-le-pro-3

mi 5s has better camera
le pro 3 has bigger screen and battery.

Don't care about AnTuTu, cuz 821 is 821. Big battery is what I need but with power. I was really happy with Redmi Note 3 Pro and ZUK Z1 but whack hardware, no ufs 2.0.
The Pro 3 support much more bands also the B20 800 MHz band. So I will go with the Pro 3.

The mi5s will come with terrible miui os, full of bugs and extremely poor memory management. The Leeco will have the even worse EUI software, and they won't release kernel sources, so your be stuck with it.
At least with the mi5s there's every chance of very sorted cm13/cm14 based roms emerging at some point, maybe more.

terrible miui ? have you even tried a MIUI phone lately ?, MIUI is pretty good nowadays (for what it is). My brother has the Redmi Note 3 Pro and it works really well, fast, smooth, no bugs so far.
Ill still take pure android over any UI, but MIUI is pretty good overall

Yeah, it's not too bad. It had great standby drain (or lack thereof) when I was running it on my Xperia Z2. It would sit all night losing maybe 1% or 2 over like 8 to 10 hours. It is a little too heavily themed and styled, but it does have that huge in depth theme engine and there are stock android themes that get pretty close. I would say that under the hood, I don't mind it.
That lack of kernel source from Leeco concerns me though. I don't mind having to wait a little while for a rom, but no rom support at all worries me greatly. I got stuck in that once with the S6 and it's nothing but touchwiz roms and a failed attempt to get CM going after like 8 months. No way I'm doing that again. Unless EUI turns out to somehow be excellent this time... ball's in your court Leeco :d

MIUI is not more the old MIUI. Mi2s and Mi3 after that just poor.

I tried MIUI myself. It has its nice things going on. But I like CM better on My Redmi Note 3 Pro.
Hope we can have CM13/14.

funny enough i posted my comment using my redmi note 3 pro running global stable miui. The memory killer engine on it is insane, you can't even complete a semi decent sized download for it in background without miui coming in and killing the process, and that's even if you open only 1 small app. There is a workaround in the developer options, set enhanced memory operation to off, but i think that works more by luck than design.
Other examples of this is every time you exit app to home screen, I'm met with a screen redraw more often than not, and using a third party launchers I see them completely reloading. I feel miui is completely untested, or tested by people who have no clue or simply don't care.
I'm not isolated in noticing the poor multitasking on RN3pro either, check out the big multitasking fix thread here at xda forums for the RN3pro.

Antutu doesn't mean much when it comes to user experience. Just out of curiosity, how did you get a hold of US x720 before launch?

Mi 5s is more expensive but not so beautiful as Le pro 3. Has a better camera?or probably a better camera software. Will will see.if next upgrade will improve videos and OIS features. However if you aren't a MIUI super fan Le pro 3 rules on every side of the comparison.

What is your opinion? I don't see a real reason to upgrade from K3 actually... maybe to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 'TV' (Top version, soon comes out) No info about the CPU Freq', So as the cameras (on K3 note the camera quality is low/worse compared Xiaomi Redmi Note 2/3)
Updated!
The Helio X10 is terrible for battery life. I have the Redmi Note 2. Hope this isn't true.

Neh, I purchased for my friend RMN2 Prime with the "OC" helio x10 and it works fine (the battery 'life')
What I don't like that much is the GPU, 6200 on 550Mhz (stock)
Update 4.
They should maybe fix the alarming issues with the K3 note before they want us consumer to fork out another dim on a phone from the same company. Same complains over and over at the offical forum without a word from the company: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/K-and-Vibe-Z-Series-Smartphones/bd-p/lp02_en

I feel that this is a pretty balanced device.
Whilst it is true that the processor is old, in every other way this device seems to shine.
3GB RAM, good front facing speakers, NFC, 3600 battery, good screen, high quality camera...
The only compromise is the processor - which if you think about it, may not even be a compromise at all if overclocking is possible.
Thumbs up for this device.
Can some one find a root exploit for it please

What about the roms? K3 Note was not good on the software perspective. It took 4-5 months to get something that was good enough.
It's still a new device so maybe with time developers will give it some attention.
I'm hoping for the best. Will buy mine mid February.
Another benefit is the fact that the phone supports a huge array of networks. So compatibility when traveling is very very good. Many phones do not have this level of network compatibility.

Mate 8 is my new Mate... Farwell Note 4...

Hi guys,
i'm brand new here and I just wanna say that I got brand new Huawei Mate 8 (3 GB RAM, 32 ROM). I've sold my Note 4 (910F) and so far... I'm so happy! I was scared at first but now... WOW!
Huawei is that what I was looking for. It is blazing fast, astonishing phone with multiple options that I wanted.
First of all EMUI is WAY MUCH prettier than ugly TouchWiz. I got everything what I wanted - for example Theme support. My note 4 is sooo old that samsung wont provide theme engine for my touchwiz. Thank you samsung for that btw...
Second of all - its blazing fast ! Way much faster than TW from Samsung. Less ram leak, apps are loading faster. I really like this speed... Afret flashing clean rom on samsung it was never that fast. Dunno why, its just this.
And battery life - 92% from this morning. Not bad for 6"0 inch screen. Maybe its less colour, maybe its not EPICULTRAHD resolution, but who cares... its a phone, not a TV.
Im glad that I've become a Huawei family member. It was a good chocie.
So - hello guys. I'll try to do my best to help you with your phone problems and I hope you will help me.
Good morning Huawei!
Coming from the galaxy s5 i can kind of say i know the spot you were in. Samsung phones are extremely expensive but you get very little for such a high price. Compared to the galaxy s7, the huawei mate 8 beats it in everything but camera. Honestly though, its a phone not a Nikon. The speed is due to the CPU of the phone being an in house item. Huawei made the CPU themselves so they can make the necessary optimizations to run android how they want it to run. I suggest picking up a case for the phone. Screen protector is optional. It comes with one but it has Gorilla Glass 4 on it so scratching the device would be quite difficult unless one was doing so on purpose. I suggest rooting this device and swapping the kernel governor to something other than the stock interactive governor. I use ondemand because it really gets that CPU where you want it to be and saves battery at all costs. Other than that if you have rooting trouble or unlocking trouble there are some nice threads to do a bit of looking around. Enjoy the phone!
Thanks bro for the reply. Im not sure if I will loose my warranty... I did it with samsung and my glass broke on it (famous screen delamination, i got same **** in note 2, now note 4) and they told me to FU because of 0x1 knox...
My phone came with a plastic protection on the back (they attached it) and glass protector on the front. <3 them for this.
Can i root my huawei and not loose warranty?
I used for a few weeks MIUI system, and I miss some options - for example creating my own profile for battery (turn off 4G/LTE, battery saver profile etc running from 12am-6am)
Love my mate 8. If the honor note 8 is anything close I'm buying. Need my 2k res back.
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using Tapatalk
I am running both the Note 4 and Mate 8. Love my Mate 8 though. Battery life for the Mate is an easy 3 days for me. Note 4 is only 2 days generally.
After 3 days of using (normal use for me, sometimes internet, sometimes making some calls and texting some messages) i got 16% and i cant discharge it ! I gave up and plugged it into a charger. IT AMAIZING how long can it live!
Note 4 was dead after day and a half. Max !
I would make some changes in this phone, but still - i love it!
indeed, the only changes id want to make were software-based and thats easily taken care of with custom roms and mods

Replacement for my Mate2
My Huawei Ascend Mate2, little over 2 years old....LOVE IT still. Still getting 2 days battery life.
Using STOCK 5.1, Nova Launcher Prime, buttery smooth, but I think it's about time for an update.
Now that the Mate8 has dropped to a reasonable price. Might be time to pull the trigger and upgrade?
Stable, long battery life and good camera quality is what I usually go for.
I know the Mate8 will be stable & long battery life. How's the camera quality?
I don't use the stock camera app, just Camera FV-5 full version.

As for screen protectors/cases etc, I've never used a screen protector or case

Mate 9 isn't up for the release so soon
See

Huawei Mate 9 leaks in high resolution images 2 days in advance of release.

The Huawei Mate 9, which will be officially announced this month, has appeared in high resolution leaked photos showing the final unit with Leica-engineered dual-camera setup.
The leaked photos are consistent with material that's surfaced previously, showcasing a big metal smartphone with a dual-camera setup, accompanied by a dual-LED flash and laser autofocus module.
The handset is rumored to have a 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolution and is to be powered by the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 960 flagship-tier processor, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The Huawei Mate 9 allegedly runs Android 7.0 Nougat skinned with the manufacturer's EMUI 5.0 interface.

Agreed.
Plus, the Kirin 960 isn't much faster as well (for non-gamers that is as the GPU-side however is massively quicker (but current games run just fine on the 950 as well, imho)) and pretty expensive so will hold onto the Mate 8 for the time being :good:
it is all about the price about this one, I am also disspointed with the camerabump and camera modul, it looks not very stylish and not up to huawies recent standards.
I am a gamer so for personally k960 is very much neeeded. The picture abouve I still see black borders against the screen this is disappointing, I think otherwise Nubia Z9 has done very good with this and I wish all other manufactures would do the same to create borderless screen
The leaks seem to be getting confirmed (or thrown out) as the 4th approaches. On a Note 4 (but running Note 7 softwate) and have a ROM'd MediaPad X2 (which was a PITA to update) . So I like rooted Huawei devices with new ROMs so looking at 3 very different devices:
In the spirit of the thread, my first pick
- Mate 9 mostly for the great devs here. Nougat would be a bonus, and hopefully chainfires work can be brought over. Not global (or including 4g then off the list.
- LeEco LePro 3 with flash rebate it is absurdly affordable and reasonably reviewed as a whole. Only 5.5 is a real deal thinker. 5.9 on the Mate much better by leaps and jumps ahead.
- Lenovo Phab Pro 2 out (for ordering) now, but holding for the Huawei intro press conference on the 4th. Bigger (like the 6.4), much less performance wise.
Two pictures from the phone.

Assuming this will be available in the US on the Huawei website as an unlocked version you can use in the US?
Opinion on it being my next phone over my Nexus 6p?
Two sensors (20MP+12MP) 4K video + OIS, new CPU, new GPU, Android 7.0, IR blaster, USB Type-C. Good update over Mate 8.
"Porsche Design" will be not for everyone. Especially design quite like Samsung - front main button ... and price of course.

Is there manual controls in snapdragon cam?
Guys, I left Miui with the official launch of Los for Mi5s. But I'm missing the Xposed, to customize the interface and add some features that improve daily use. Which rom do you recommend to partially fix this limitation? Would RR be the most recommended for tweaking? Thanks.
Im a MiUi big fan....and purchased the mi5s only for that reason....because im reccomending Xiaomi.eu 7.6.8 based on Android 7.0....believe me....VERY STABLE UPDATE....
1. Official LOS for battery life
2. MIUI for better camera
Took a long time for me to decide which to go with, but ultimately I'm going with LOS + Snapdragon camera, which is nearly as good as MIUI stock camera. Haven't tried MIUI 7.6.6 though, but I'm sure is worth trying once xiaomi.eu release theirs. If only we have pixel camera...
Resurrection remix is the best for battery life i think cuz there is battery configuration settings so you can change battery performance. And it is smooth as well

Andromeda CPU throttle?

Hi,
I've been looking all over the Web, here as well of course, and I was unable to find a review on the Soc 855 performance on Mi Mix 3 5g. I'm currently on Mi Mix 2s, with 845 SoC which sadly does throttle.
I'm wondering what the thermal behaviour in MiMix 3 5g is, as I'm considering the upgrade.
It's also my first thread, let me know if this should be posted elsewhere. I just need a good advice before buying the device.
Thanks!

I did not observe much heating. hands do not burn, there is no discomfort. played pubg mobile on maximum graphics and fps
Thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to run the actual app and attach a screenshot of the thermal profile it outputs? Google Play:
CPU Throttling Test
My mi mix 2s gets hot after just 1-2 min (test runs for 15 min) and i get a performance below a SD 835 (that I also own, an HTC U11). I found the phone discounted to about 300 euros and I would buy it if the performance doesn't drop when pushed hard.
Perhaps you can help, thanks in advance!
Here, 15 minutes test.
Thank you very much for your time and help!
I only test 10 minutes

Thanks! This is weird though, there's a big difference between these 2 results. @draand28 seems to behave like a SD 845 on regular Mi Mix 3 (same throttling behavior as my Mi Mix 2S, maybe slightly better thermals, but still same overall performance of ~145 GIPS), whereas yours @animehq, behaves clearly better averaging I assume above 165 GIPS. I'm not a benchmark freak, but i use gcam a lot, and when throttling begins, i see how the phone lags behind, taking more to process same number of frames. That's just an example though. It's a tough call... I really want that oled display and sd 855, but if it throttles to SD 845 level...it would mean less satisfying purchase. Thank you all, and I'm sorry that this phone hasn't received online a thorough performance analysis like most flagships do today!
From what i see his phone is charging during the test...
I will run the test cold 15 minutes without charging, let it cool some time then run the test again charging to see if something change
That would help a lot, thanks!
Here
Thanks, I think I'll order one Mi Mix 3 5G after all. Just one more thing, do you have the 128 GB or the 64 GB version?

Don't even think of buying this one. It does not have any software support. Miui 10 is laggy and bugged and is only Android 9. There won't be any updates

I have the 128GB version.
Is it really that bad? I've read the forums and saw you and other devs working on ROMs and kernels for this phone. So you're not using this phone as a daily driver? From a price/performance ratio point of view, it seemed like the best bang for the buck (5g, SD 855), but software support is worrying... I haven't seen an Android 10 miui 11 rom on xiaomi.eu either...Has Xiaomi dropped their flagship altogether?

Yep Xiaomi suxx with this phone, the hardware is great, miui 10 and android 9 not so bad for me....
I have the phone for less than a week so...
I will try to port miui 11 from mi mix 3 to the mi mix 5g but since i don't really do this kind of things for some years now i will be slow and maybe fail
An andoid 10 beta as been release in 2019 but they never released a final version.

Yeah, the software is that bad. @QuantumShqipe managed to get hold of a leaked MIUI 11 Beta from January but that's it, no updates. I would really not recommend buying this phone. I'm way past the return date policy (bought it in January) so I'm trying to make out the best of this device.
