[CP PI4 Modem] Update PGC Baseband. - T-Mobile Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

If you guys that are rooted or on stock on PGC and want to update to the latest PI4 BaseBand.
Download this file: >>>>>PI4 BaseBand
Put your phone into download mode.. you should know how to do this by now.
Open Odin and then place this file in the CP section only.. Nothing else in the other boxes.. Take a long at picture below to see what and where to put the CP file in odin..
Once you have the file loaded in CP section of odin, Hit start and it will flash it and then it will reboot your phone. You should be on the latest PI4 Baseband..

try it. it might work better for some and then some might not see an improvement//

Have you tried this on a custom rom?

Can anyone confirm this working and also maintain root?

You can see in his screen shots that he is on PGC with PI4 radio and is still rooted ala permissive mode.

[HOWTO] Re-flash stock kernel, after your device is rooted

Hello everyone,
I saw this question over and over around so I decided to post a quick guide here.
After I installed the insecure kernel on my SGS2, to allow me to root, I did a series of quadrant tests. And after comparing 10 runs with the 10 runs I did prior to root, I ended up with the impression that I lost about 200-400 points per run. The tests were not entirely conclusive, since the margin is not big (compared with the total). Regardless, I still wanted to try to squeeze out every bit of performance I can out of this beast. That's when I decided to re-flash the original stock kernel.
What you will need, is basically the same thing you did to gain root, but with another kernel.
Make sure you know what you are doing. I am not responsible if you do it wrong and brick your phone.
1. First download the stock kernel:
You can find the stock kernels here: http://nma.usk.bz/sgs2.php
DO NOT UNTAR THE FILE. Leave it as it is.
2. Now open Odin and put your phone in Download mode
3. IMPORTANT: Make sure that "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" are check. And that EVERYTHING else is UNchecked.
4. Load the .tar file on the PDA field. Just click on "PDA" and open the file.
5. Click "Start"
Done, you are back to your stock kernel and will keep root. This does not revert what you already installed (su, SuperUser, busybox, etc).
If you have any questions, post it here.
UPDATES:
------------
- Added XWKE7 stock kernel (05/21/2011)
Hi uskr, I think this may be the same file in this top post in this thread which is what I just flashed to but thanks for this anyway.

Thank you for pointing it out. I had a hard time finding it when I needed. Hope this helps more people out there.
This one is from the original stock rom downloaded from kies. I just extracted the zImage.
I no this is not relevant To stock kernel but if i update my phone to newest firmware this will work the same way,?
also there is a overclock kernel out if i want overclock kernel after i update to new firmware i would need to flash the root kernel then flash the overclock kernel to beable to have my phone run newest firmware with overclock kernel that is rooted.?
Thanks

When we update to XWKE1, flash the unsecure KDD Kernel, root, how do we get back to KE1 Kernel?
Can you point on how to extract it?

How can we extract only the kernel from a stock firmware?
I googled a lot and figgured out that this way should be the right.
* Flash new Firmware via ODIN (.tar File)
* Root with old KDD Kernel
* Open the FW .tar File
* Delete all except "zImage"
* Flash new .tar file via Odin
That should it be. Am not sure but
Will try when i got 100% and backuped my sdcard
So we have to delete all the files in the tar, except "zImage". I found a guide to do it, but for the *.rar, I tried with the *.tar but it didn't work

Thanks. The kernel I used to root I think introduced an intermittent mic issue during calls.. now I'm back to the standard kernel and no more issue.
Thanks dude
The warning triangle should be gone.
Try to reflash again and see if it helps. Did you flash anything else?
Lastly, which "brand" is your phone? This is for the XEU branded phone. If you have O2 or Korean versions, you will need a different stock kernel. I can get them for you.
To check your brand, type on your phone: *#272*<your IMEI>#
You can find your IMEI number on: Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Status .

you can extract from the .tar and then tar it under linux use this command :
Code:
tar -cf zImage filename.tar
or google "tar for windows" then you can run it under windows
and then ,you can get a tar contains zImage and you can flash it by odin

Hi, thanks. But there's something wrong with the KE2 Kernel. In the zip there is only a zimage file. I tried converting this file to a tar archieve. However flashing the tar in Odin didn't work. Can someone please upload a working tar file?

The KE2 kernel file I downloaded was the tar itself rather than the tar contained in a zip.
Using the file as downloaded in odin worked fine.

Hi, I checked my brand after flashing the insecure tar, and it shows DBT (it starts boot German ) so can you tell me what i need to download to get back to UK settings.
Thanks Brian.
Hi, i've just flashed the I9100XWKE1_I9100XXKDJ_I9100OXXKE1_HOME.TAR witch is on Samfirmware (for France)
But i don't have the original kernel to flash over the rom after the root.
I don't want to flash the Xeu kernel because it is for UK.
I tried to delete the winrar files to keep only the Zimage file on this rom, but I can't delete anything.
I would be happy to know how to create the kernel.tar for the different firmwares
Or if someone could do it for me ?
Link of the rom :

[Solved!!!]Cant get out of bootloop! - stock rooted.

Hi Everyone.
Ok, So my phone was on Stock MJ1, Rooted with Kingo (Knox 0x0) and I had Xposed tweaks. (Its the 900W8)
I was screwing with the BUILD.PROP file and changed the value of dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=128m to 124
Now I have a bootloop!
Please help!
Is there a way to re-insert a backup of my build.prop file into root? Maybe with ADB or something?
I dont want to wipe my phone or trip knox and I dont know what to do.
Im completely stuck.

You are basically hosed. You will have flash a stock system.img and cache.img.
ADB won't be active in a bootloop.
You could try flashing a zip with just the right build.prop in it. I don't know if and how that's possible though, but I think it is.

Is it possible to flash the original build.prop using the stock recovery like Macbreq suggested?
If not, then if i trip my knox and put cwm on it could i flash it them or is my cache damaged too much to boot?
If i can only recover the way you suggested, how do i do this?
Put it in download mode and flash MJ1 stock rom with ODIN...
You shouldn't loose all your stuff and it will just need to be rooted again... Easy...

OK, if its stock go to recovery mode. It will tell you your CSC code at the bottom of the screen...
Then try sammobile.com to find your stock rom.If you can't find there you might have to try searching further afield but I don't know where, sammobile generally has what I want.
If you can't find any way to do this you may need to do an emergency firmware recovery by Kies 3 BUT you will loose all data... You will have a working phone though. Just remember that Kies 3 will upgrade to the latest firmware thats out so if you have root and an old bootloader and a new firmware is out with the anti-root firmware you will trigger Knox to get root back...

Thanks, The Csc code says: RWC so I guess I can use any RWC MJ1 firmware...
BTW, I dont know if its just samsung, but can I not just flash my old build.prop using stock recovery?
It also gives an Apply update from ADB in recovery... Is it possible without reflashing this way?

I wouldn't, any thing goes wrong its likelier to trigger Knox, especially as you are playing around with download mode. Personally I'd just reflash the firmware and move on from there...

Thank you! I did exactly what you said and you where 100% correct.
Just in case anyone suffers a bootloop from screwing around, this is a perfect solution.
I found my Stock firmware from here :
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900W8
I Flashed it and everything booted without tripping knox and my stuff was all intact! It just put stock overtop.
All I had to do was re-root, re-install my mods and delete the bloat again... 20min later I was back where I started.
If anyone wants a tutorial on how to do this this, go here:

Hi Repulsa, thank you for replying!
What do you mean when you say "by selecting phone"? Is the process of flashing this file different when compared w/ the method we already know to flash stock ROM?
I mean, I used to flash files by opening Odin 3.09, sellecting AP and choosing the .tar file... How does it work for the file you provided?
Thanks in advance!

In odin there should be Phone/CP select that and find the file you downloaded and flash away. Im not really sure how to explain hehe sorry so feel free to search for it.. But if the problem did not fix, you should download a stock firmware base from your country.
Edit: AP=Stock rom /BL=Bootloader/ CP=Modem/ CSC=region?

Yes, it didn't fix, but I don't know whether I've done it correctly or not. The file that comes in the download is named as I9505XXUEMK8-WiFi-FIX.tar. I know that .tar files are flashable through Odin, so I don't need to modify this file by extracting or any other process, right? I just need to select the file exactly as it comes selecting CP in Odin, isn't it?

Turn of your phone manually and wait a few atleast 10 sec then press and hold Power+Volumedown in order to reach Download mode , Open odin Select CP (Find the .tar) put both cables (Wait until you see the blue sign in odin) and press start. [Q] trying to revert sm-n900a to stock.

Wassup guys, ive been searching the forum for going on three days now trying to revert back to stock. i keep getting fails through Odin 3.09 and 3.07. Crazy thing is that i have a baseband of mj5 and a build number of mi9. Im on my last nerve with this. Had the phone since Oct. and love it to death. But right now im ready to take it out and practice shooting. Im a fairly knowledgeable with odin and flashing in recovery but this has me at a stand still. Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated. I have downloaded the MI9 files for odin (BL, AP,CP,CSC,PIT) for MJ5 i have (BL,AP,CP,PIT). If im missing some files or doing something wrong a link to a good tutorial would help. Thanks
Just tried flashing mI9 firmware in download mode and got SW REV CHECK: (sbl1) fused2> binary 1
did the whole *#1234# and got AP Mj5 and CP MI9
Confusing.
Be more clear instead of shooting the phone.
What custom rom you were on, if i understand you correct? Android version and your firmware?

No custom rom, 4.3 Baseband says MJ5. Build number says MI9. i dont know if they are supposed to be the same. I was rooted and unrooted. Just trying to get it back to days 1, fresh out the box, Bone stock.
Ok i did the *#1234# now my AP is N900AUCUBMI9,
CP is N900AUCUBMJ5,
and my CSC is N900AATTBMI9.
this is confusing the hell outta me. in the earlier post i didnt have a CSC. only the AP and CP.
Flash a newer firmware or same as your last firmware. I assume you can't downgrade to the original firmware if you have updated once to a newer one as bootloader gets locked.
Or flash 4.4.2 with Odin 1.85

I have tried that also. I dld the N900AUCECMLG.zip for the phone but when i unzip it im at a loss for what to do with the files. i dont know if it should be done in recovery or what files to use with odin. I dont see any tar or md5 files.
You have [email protected]? If so this is the correct firmware for you.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=25106
From there you can see instructions to how to flash. Read carefully. Don't panic.
Download rom. And use e.g winrar ro open just once when the files are downloaded. You are extracting twice and stop doing so. Open onse and drag and drop files to your e.g desktop. Once you do this you get md5.
You put the phone into download mode when flashing firmware. Turn it off. Volum down+home+power button at same time when asked if you want to continue press Volum up. Then you are in download mode.
Why do you even flash anything if you can't basics. Read more. If you still can't do this all before attempt or ask a friend to do it for you.

Need A little Help Please

ok so my kid was using my rooted (TWRP) TM350N and
had some problems playing a game. one of his friends
suggested a factory reset which he did and now all it
does it boot the the TWRP menu.
i downloaded and installed (using TWRP) the
JazzROM-SM-T350_7.1.1_v2.01.zip and it seemed
to install with no errors however it will still only
boot to the TWRP menu and i'm lost
any ideas ?
additionally holding down power-volume up-home or power-volume down-home
does nothing, it still boots to the TWRP menu every time.
hopefully it's not ruined

From the TWRP menu, can you choose reboot and then download to get to where you can use Odin to flash a stock ROM?

edit: You might as well upgrade to nougat at the same time. Because your son reset the tablet, you are going to have to re-install everything anyway.

With the latest Odin, you need to extract the files from the zip and flash each of them. I'd try first with just the AP and BL files.
