[Q] trying to revert sm-n900a to stock. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wassup guys, ive been searching the forum for going on three days now trying to revert back to stock. i keep getting fails through Odin 3.09 and 3.07. Crazy thing is that i have a baseband of mj5 and a build number of mi9. Im on my last nerve with this. Had the phone since Oct. and love it to death. But right now im ready to take it out and practice shooting. Im a fairly knowledgeable with odin and flashing in recovery but this has me at a stand still. Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated. I have downloaded the MI9 files for odin (BL, AP,CP,CSC,PIT) for MJ5 i have (BL,AP,CP,PIT). If im missing some files or doing something wrong a link to a good tutorial would help. Thanks
Just tried flashing mI9 firmware in download mode and got SW REV CHECK: (sbl1) fused2> binary 1
did the whole *#1234# and got AP Mj5 and CP MI9

Confusing.
Be more clear instead of shooting the phone.
What custom rom you were on, if i understand you correct? Android version and your firmware?

No custom rom, 4.3 Baseband says MJ5. Build number says MI9. i dont know if they are supposed to be the same. I was rooted and unrooted. Just trying to get it back to days 1, fresh out the box, Bone stock.
Ok i did the *#1234# now my AP is N900AUCUBMI9,
CP is N900AUCUBMJ5,
and my CSC is N900AATTBMI9.
this is confusing the hell outta me. in the earlier post i didnt have a CSC. only the AP and CP.

Flash a newer firmware or same as your last firmware. I assume you can't downgrade to the original firmware if you have updated once to a newer one as bootloader gets locked.
Or flash 4.4.2 with Odin 1.85

I have tried that also. I dld the N900AUCECMLG.zip for the phone but when i unzip it im at a loss for what to do with the files. i dont know if it should be done in recovery or what files to use with odin. I dont see any tar or md5 files.

You have [email protected]? If so this is the correct firmware for you.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=25106
From there you can see instructions to how to flash. Read carefully. Don't panic.
Download rom. And use e.g winrar ro open just once when the files are downloaded. You are extracting twice and stop doing so. Open onse and drag and drop files to your e.g desktop. Once you do this you get md5.
You put the phone into download mode when flashing firmware. Turn it off. Volum down+home+power button at same time when asked if you want to continue press Volum up. Then you are in download mode.
Why do you even flash anything if you can't basics. Read more. If you still can't do this all before attempt or ask a friend to do it for you.

Help!! I may have bricked my s4

Hello everybody im in a little bit of a crisis.
I tried to update my modem to MK2 and I used odin to do so. It turns out that it failed for some reason.
After that whenever I boot my phone it gives me a black screen and says Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
After that I followed this youtube video right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1jyZ5QafAQ and downloaded this file to go back to stock: http://downloadandroidfiles.org/download-l720vpuamdc_l720sptamdc_spr-zip/
But yet it still gave me a Fail in odin. Any help would be appreciated as I am Freaking out right now
Here is the message log directly from odin when it starts
Firmware update starts
aboot.mbn
NAND write start
Complete(Write) Operation Failed
I switched USB ports now Odin is saying there is no PIT partition

If your on MJA/MK2 firmware (bootloader) you cannot go back to MDC (the file you showed).
Also did you run PC Odin 'As Administrator'?
You can find the link to the MK2 here.

I am on MDC bootloader. What I did was download the tar file from stockroms.net for MDC. And I ran the 3.07 odin as adimistrator and it worked. Thank you cause I think that it was me not clicking run as administrator. Another question: Is it worth upgrading to MK2 if I wanna root again or should I just keep MK2. I have the geeksquad warrenty from bestbuy so it shouldn't matter if it trips the knox flag because I give them rooted phones all the time.

I wouldn't update to the knox bootloader (take the OTA or flash the full .tar) but that's me, for now.
Since you're on the earlier bootloader you can still update to any number of ROMs that have the knox bootloader removed.
Also I would definitely update the modem firmware - Unknownforce has a thread for that here.
Spend some time and read and you'll find loads of stuff you can do.
Good luck.

So I can use the files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919 in odin to update. Also since I am on mdc could I just use the latest in odin or do I have to go incrementaly.

If you truly are on MDC and did not trip the knox bootloader you can Odin back to stock MDC. That will wipe the phone completely, giving you an all MDC phone - bootloader, recovery (stock), kernel, modem and ROM.
But I would just jump to MF9. It was the last official without the Knox bootloader. You can grab that here.
This is the FULL system tar. All stock, kernel, recovery, ROM Modem.
Extract the .tar.md5 and place that in the PDA slot and that's it. Make sure you don't check 'repartition'!.
Then use CF-Autoroot to root and again be careful NOT to check anything like repartition etc.
Once rooted you can then open up supersu, update the binaries. Go to playstore and download GooManager. User that to install custom recovery and then you can flash away.
I do suggest you spend some time here reading a whole bunch. You'll learn a lot about these methods and how and what you can do.
Good luck.

Ok I have upgraded to MF9 now should I use Unkown Forces links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919 to upgrade the firmware and modem?
And when I try to root with CF auto root on MF9 it fails on complete write operation failed.
Strike that its all good
If you're on MF9 full rooted you can update your firmware/modem following Unknownforce's instructions.
HOWEVER PLEASE take heed about the MJA(MK2 too) Notes: ...
some people report better success with turning Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time unchecked. Do the same flash, but when you see PASS on Odin, unplug the phone and Hold the Power key for 10 seconds to reboot.

And read through the whole post not just the OP. Some people had to flash it a few times to get it to show up (in system info) properly - mainly because they didn't follow directions precisely and skipped the note part on MJA/MK2.
Since you're now on MF9 fully rooted (stock) you can install yourself a custom recovery (Philz or TWRP - the latest Philz;philz_touch_6.08.9-jfltespr, seems to be the most reliable for now) and flash some ROMs. Virtually all of the 4.3/4.4 ROMs require the MK2 modem so know that too.
One thing I would highly recommend is to spend some time reading through the sections to get a clearer understanding of how this device behaves vs others (HTC, Moto etc.). Every device has it's peculiarities and caveats and not paying attention to them could ruin you day.

People need to know the difference between soft bricked and hard bricked. Most say bricked and they mean soft. Hard is nearly impossible to get the phone back up and running. I have that same problem when I try to install a kernel. You need to reflash a ROM.

910f 4.4 -> 5.0.1

Hi. I have a NOTE 4 running ANK4 android 4.4 rooted with CWRP.
My question is: In order to flash a STOCK 5.0.1 tar from sammobile, what are the steps I need to follow?
Do I simply have to get the tar file and flash it through Odin?
Do I have to unroot/remove custom recovery first?
Do I have to factory reset and reset cache?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi,
your first question is correct
if you flash you will automatically lose root and recovery.. (no need to unroot and remove custom recovery..)
read my post #2 in this thread.. see link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3068738
for snapshot and more details
lastly it up to you if you want to factory reset etc.. it is not necessary
good luck
Download the file from www.samfirmware.com, make sure you have the CORRECT firmware for your SPECIFIC phone model.
While you are on the download page, there is an instruction, which I copied below:
Instructions:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v.3.09
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
You don't need to root or do anything, just MAKE SURE that "Reactivation Lock" under Settings>Security is DE-ACTIVATED.
You don't necessarily have to do a Reset, but if you are having problems with force closing apps, battery drain etc... then do a Reset.
Good luck
Ok I just did that, ODIN said passed but literally nothing happened to the phone? lmao. It still shows android 4.4

OTA and Kies show my software is up to date, which isn't true because the phone that was replaced had lollipop...thru an OTA.
Is there a way to force the lollipop update?

Yeah you Can Download Manually Official Lollipop 5.0.1 For AT&T Baseband Version: N910AUCU1COC4
After Downloading Extract it, You Can get 4 Files ,
BL-N910A To Be Flashed in BL SLOT in Odin
AP-N910A To Be Flashed in AP SLOT in Odin
CP-N910A To Be Flashed in CP SLOT in Odin
CSC_ATT_N910A To Be Flashed in CSC SLOT
You Can Flash All Files at the Same Time by Loading in Odin...
Just Flash AP,Bootloader & CP files...No need for CSC to Flash...
Remeber To Backup Your Data Before Flashing..
[*]Go in Recovery MOD & Do Factory Reset
[*]GoTo Download Mode by First Powered Off Your Note 4 than by Pressing Power+Volume Down+Home Button All Together...
[*]Just Check Auto Reboot & F.Reset Time in Odin Leave All other as it's
Here is Odin v3.10.6
I hope It'll solve the issue...

Yes Because You are on Android Kitkat...Baseband Version Shows The Android version...So Cannot Flash Android's Same Base Band on Earlier Same base-band...
If You Do So than You'll be Again on Android Kitkat...
When You Update To Lollipop Your Baseband Will be Change To that N910AUCU1COC4....I Mentioned Base band Just because You can Know What's New...
There is No need To Worry just Flash With Odin & Follow The Steps Carefully You'll Get Lollipop..than in Lollipop Your Baseband will be N910AUCU1COC4....After That You'll Be able To Update Via OTA... Its Latest N910AUCU2COC5 update is Around 160MB You'll Get that in OTA..
First You've To Flash That I Told you in Above Post...

How do I unroot and reflash stock ROM onto AT&T G930A S7?

I am trying to unroot my phone. I have a US version of G930A. Sammobile has every county except the USA. I found G930AATT1APB5_User_Binary.zip which has AP_G930AUCU1APB5_CL7193387_QB8719495_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar, the BL, CP and CSC file in it. I try to flash it using Odin3, and I get an "odin protocol version error." I take it because the image is a lower version that's what's on there. I would like to download the latest stock image but sammobile doesn't offer images for the US? Or is there a better way?
Wrong forum. This here is for SM-G930F Development, not Q&A. You'll get the answers you're seeking and more, at the S7 AT&T Q&A and Dev forums. Mod, please move - thanks.
Wrong forum. But try using Kies in Download mode
That is what i do when ever i restore my phone.
No Kies good lord. This isn't a Note 2.
You're getting that error because you're on newer firmware than you're trying to flash so it's erroring out.
Follow the Return to stock procedure in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...sed-unroot-t3411039/post67605246#post67605246
Flash all 4 files, then you'll be on PF2 and able to get the OTA Update to PG1 with wifi calling, etc.
I tried using kies. It asks me for my model. I put in SM-G930A. The serial I put in all caps and it tells me my model number I entered is wrong.

Which Odin are you using?
You're flashing the PF2?
I've tried many versions of Odin v1 (not the 3). I'm not sure what the PF2 is.
To get it to work, I just defaulted the phone and rerooted it. It's the only way I can get it to work. It's working perfect right now. Only question is how long,

for g930a (galaxy s7 at&t NOT EDGE)
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA MAKE A BACKUP
download these files:
Odin: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2t...din_3.12.3.rar
Flashing Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B17...w?usp=drivesdk
After downloading extract the .rar extract it then extract each, BL, AP, ect... files. Use the odin included in the download to flash and you will be returned to stock. If the odin included still gives you the error you can get the princecomsey version and see if that works from here: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/tools/ODIN/ODIN-modified.zip
If odin freezes or crashes just restart it and try again, it might take a while foor the AP file to load into odin so just be patient and if it looks like it is about to crash wait about 2-3 minutes then force close it and try again.
Now you are returned to stock an all set !!
(p.s) - PF2 is the latest firmware as of now for the g930a, meaning when you flash this you will be all set. You may have tried to flash the original PF which is now outdated cause AT&T updated it, I did this and it worked but i could not update my phone so I flashed this one and it works perfectly and Samsung pay is up and running.

i9505 still stuck at 4.2.2! Says "latest update installed". Help!

Hi guys,
I got this phone about 2 years back from a store in the middle east and it turned out later that this device was actually from a swiss carrier - Swisscom. It was unlocked so it didn't really matter at the time. Ever since then it hasn't updated to any of the latest android versions. It always says "latest updates installed", even with Kies. It wasn't really an issue before, but now a lot of apps just crash constantly. Anyone knows how to fix this?
If the phone is not in its home region it won't get updates. Download one of the unbranded ROMs from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
Look for the latest rom on sammobile.com and flash via Odin.

What if I want to install CM? Should I follow the same steps and just change the file chosen to CM? Or there's something else to be done too? These were the instructions:

Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)

No. Flashing a custom ROM (CM) is a completely different procedure. There are guides online.
For cm, you should flash twrp via Odin. After flashing Odin, you can save the cm rom to the phone's internal or external memory, boot into twrp, and flash cm and gapps from twrp.
Personally, with all the bugs Cyanogenmod has in it, I'd rather flash AOSP on the S4. But that has nothing to do with your actual question, which @audit13 answered succinctly in the previous post.
Alright, thank you guys! I've decided to go with the official firmware, as given on sammobile. Just one last question. On sammobile there are various versions for my phone. Should I be downloading the "Swisscomm" variant again? I'm in the US now and I don't want to be stuck without an update. Can I install the US version? Or even an open international version, so that I don't get stuck again.
