6.0.1 Marshmellow firmware for XT1564 on Verizon - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen people talking about using xt1562 imgs but I'm pretty sure those people were on GSM networks. What do you guys think, any one know what system.img/radios/boot.img/ect. will work, or at least what will brick me? I know not to flash the bootloader and partition files but what should i use?

[Q] What's the difference between the XT1575 and XT1572 regarding system image?

I live in Germany and will soon receive my style, maybe tomorrow. My question:
There are several issues, that points to different system images of the XT1572 and XT1575. I assumed, that for example the lte channels (= modem) are the only difference, but there are some others, too. In an other thread, an user described a problem with using WiFi correctly, after flashing the system image of the XT1575 on a XT1572.
This would result in different roms, if development will start soon. Is this correct? Does anybody know, what's the real difference of the two devices regarding software/hardware? Are there different WiFi modules? Can you please support me?
I'll wait with rooting my device until I'll get some clearance about this (and maybe until M via OTA arrives).
This is the reason why I feel these forums shouldn't be clumped together; Similar to the problem we encounter with carrier-specific variants. Although, if someone can figure out unified development, that'd be great.
There should also be a warning sticky maybe, until this issue gets investigated. Otherwise flashing the wrong image could end up in a (soft?) brick.
I can answer you on the rooting part atleast as i have the XT1572 (European moto x style) Unlocking the bootloader and flashing the TWRP recovery for the moto X pure works just fine. After that its just a matter of flashing the SuperSu Zip and you are good to go as far as root goes.
I flashed the aicp ROM from this forum on my Xt1572 and it's working great. WiFi, bluetooth with my moto 350, LTE and calls, all working.

I thought XT1572 is the dual SIM version?

Verizon note 4 unlocked on Cricket (AT&T) network custom rom

I'm new here but have been following xda for years. I'm not new to rooting or flashing custom roms but after a few days of searching I can't find an answer to the following question.
I have and unlocked Verizon Note 4 n910v running Android 4.4.4 on the Cricket (AT&T) network. If I'm going to install a custom rom, do I need to find a rom for Verizon or for AT&T? Also can anyone clear up the rumor about a locked bootloader on this device? Any help would be awesome!
If you have already unlocked the bootloader on the 910V, I'm not too sure what rumor you are referencing regarding a locked bootloader ::
As far as roms go, it's a Verizon device so you need Verizon roms and firmware.

For ROMs, you must install verizon ROMs because the phone uses verizon-customized hardware.
It is no rumor that this device comes with a locked bootloader. However, thanks to the talented devs here at XDA, there is now an official way to unlock the bootloader; but you have to update to Lollipop 5.1.1 and BPA1 baseband.
I'm using a T-mobile sim in my verizon note 4 without unlocking the bootloader on lollipop and BPA1, so you shouldn't worry about your sim not working after updating. Have fun!
you have a misunderstanding of unlocked. what you are referencing is that you are using the factory unlocked gsm portion of the modem in the verizon model phone. you are NOT bootloader unlocked as you are still on 4.4! if you want to truly unlock it (as in the bootloader) then you will need to upgrade to 5.1.1 (BPA1) via odin. There are several tutorials on how to achieve this, and unlocking (including one that i wrote on the main thread).
to answer your question about using a verizon rom or a t-mobile rom, you can try any snapdragon rom that you would like, but there is NO GUARANTEE that they will work as each developer compiles with or without certain components. what ever you do, do NOT try to flash other carrier (at&t, t-mobile, sprint, etc.) firmware. BIG NO NO! although you claim to have experience with rooting and flashing roms, i would advise you to ALWAYS stick with the carrier variation of whatever device you are working with until you get a better understanding of the different components to a phone i.e. bootloader, modem, rom, etc. xda-university has a nice explanation of these things. so go read up on these things. if you need help, feel free to ask.
Thank you for everyone's advice. Upgrade to lollipop via Odin and bpa1. Got it. As far as custom rom goes, use a Verizon carrier custom rom.

Can we clarify "Bootstack" and what's safe to flash and not?

Since H830 has been rooted, I strongly believe the others will get rooted some time down the road.
In light of that, I'd like to ask experience devs or people who know about the G5 this question: what's safe to flash and what isn't?
I've had experience with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and flashing TMobile stuff onto Canadian variants worked no problem, would this be the same for the H830/H831?
Seeing as these variants are similar in model # and a few discussions about how rooting the H831 would stem from the H830, is it safe to flash vice-versa?
Thanks XDA!
I'd say, you shouldn't flash anything. These models are not just different in model number, but radios used, and possibly other small things too. Just because the model name is similar, it does not mean it's safe to go around flashing other variants' stock firmware.
H830 and H831 are as different as night n day when it comes to unlock, root etc.
you CANNOT flash H830 bootloader/modem on any other G5 model, period. insta-brick. and not the kind u fix with flashing stock firmware back. H831 root/unlock will never stem from H830.. so let's end all of those discussions right now. H831 is in same ballpark as the locked AT&T, Verizon and Sprint models.
the 2 partitions that you could flash and it wouldnt brick you would be boot and system.. but those probably wouldnt let u boot into android.. but you wouldnt be bricked.. could recover with KDZ.
G5 users should only flash the software for their exact model.
there are a few exceptions... H850 variants .. H850N or w/e for example could flash H850 kdz and it would not brick them.. but it also wouldnt help them with unlock since the H850 unlocks are based on IMEI in LG's database.. not the software you flash. Another exception would also be for the intl users.. someone with a German H850 could flash another countries H850 sw as the only differences might be carrier settings and languages settings.

So it's safe to flash H860 kdz on my H860N device? Not really planning to do that as I really want to play safe with my phone, but just asking

not sure if dual sim would stop working.. but it wouldnt brick you. as of today anyway.. a future update could change the qfuse version or something.. and flashing something with a lower version would cause issues.
The only people who should be considering flashing another phone's kdz are those with H850/H860 carrier versions who want something unbranded. for example.. an H850 vodafone phone user may want to flash an H850 EU OPEN kdz.
or
Bootloader unlocked H830 users could adapt a system.img (only the system img.. not a full rom.. not a kdz.. etc) to work on their phones and flash the system.img with twrp.
Thanks for the replies, that clears things up relatively simply.
The thing is, carrier H850 and EU Open H850 are NOT different SKUs. An H831 and an H830 are different SKUs and quite different HW.

As it seems so. Like I said, the Note series was a bit different, almost identical hardware with two different SKUs, but I guess the G5 is done differently.
Praying for root soon! My eyes are bleeding from night-time blue light!

Unlocking More Bands?

Hey!
From what I've read online it looks like all S7 Edges are built identically which means that the bands must be controlled by software. Are there any firmwares, patches, or tricks that enable other bands? I have a Verizon S7 Edge on T-Mobile so I'm mainly looking to unlock band 12. I saw this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...e-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145/ but im not sure if that will unlock the bands or not. VoLTE and WiFi-Calling would be a plus.
Thanks.
So you mean like flashing the u firmware or something

I believe that is what this post describes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...e-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145/ but I dont know if that will actually unlock the bands or not. Have you tried it? Will it actually unlock the bands?
Thanks.
I haven't tried this but my s6 edge works for my gf on metro and it's a Verizon phone with of1 firmware. I don't see why the u firmware wouldn't work for you.
Flashed the U Firmware. It didnt unlock the bands. Any other suggestions?

Maybe now that you're on the U firmware you could flash the T-Mobile firmware? Not sure if it would work or not, maybe you'd be willing to try. Make a backup just in case...
I do belive the band's are controlled by the baseband/radio file in the updates, of course most of my experience is with the ENG bootloader on HTC devices so I think for Samsung it's either modem or pda....more experienced members can correct me if I'm wrong, so feel free to jump in

Do you think flashing the T-Mobile firmware would help? I posted in the other thread asking if it would work but if flashing firmeware replaces everything (bootloader, os, kernel, etc) then it should work right?
