[Q] What's the difference between the XT1575 and XT1572 regarding system image? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in Germany and will soon receive my style, maybe tomorrow. My question:
There are several issues, that points to different system images of the XT1572 and XT1575. I assumed, that for example the lte channels (= modem) are the only difference, but there are some others, too. In an other thread, an user described a problem with using WiFi correctly, after flashing the system image of the XT1575 on a XT1572.
This would result in different roms, if development will start soon. Is this correct? Does anybody know, what's the real difference of the two devices regarding software/hardware? Are there different WiFi modules? Can you please support me?
I'll wait with rooting my device until I'll get some clearance about this (and maybe until M via OTA arrives).

This is the reason why I feel these forums shouldn't be clumped together; Similar to the problem we encounter with carrier-specific variants. Although, if someone can figure out unified development, that'd be great.

There should also be a warning sticky maybe, until this issue gets investigated. Otherwise flashing the wrong image could end up in a (soft?) brick.

I can answer you on the rooting part atleast as i have the XT1572 (European moto x style) Unlocking the bootloader and flashing the TWRP recovery for the moto X pure works just fine. After that its just a matter of flashing the SuperSu Zip and you are good to go as far as root goes.

I flashed the aicp ROM from this forum on my Xt1572 and it's working great. WiFi, bluetooth with my moto 350, LTE and calls, all working.

I thought XT1572 is the dual SIM version?

ROM flashing 1572 vs 1575

Are ROMs cross-compatible? Can i flash 1575 ROM on my 1572 device? What's the difference? Media always say the only difference is in the naming (us pure, rest style). I guess for average user that is true and enough. Are there differences in bootloader, radio, kernel?
+1 Would also like to find out the answer to this question.
Not sure of the code, but there are some hw/physical differences between the Pure and Style - naming the LTE radio bands each supports is different, and the Style comes with and has support for Dual SIMs, which the Pure doesn't. With that said, I'm not sure how many parts can be used back and forth, but I would guess it's not cross-flashable out of the box.
As long as you dont have a dual sim Pure, I think you should be fine.
Getting a reply from a developer who has or is working on a ROM and has looked at the code would be lovely, it would amazing if you could flash for example a rom for 1575 on a 1572 or vice versa
Tried flashing a 1575 rom on the 1572 variant. Some roms work other don't. Some roms dont recognize the sim card. So flash at your own risk.

Not a good idea since hardware are not identical.
I think @Hashbang173 might be able to answer this. He is building the AICP rom, and has had to make some modifications to get the X1572 single sim to recognise the sim card.

Smooth. No issues whatsoever so far. Battery Life has also improved considerably. Getting an average SoT of 6 hours. Got back today after work and it still had 56% battery left with SoT of about 4 hours.
I have earlier used the RR Rom, but I was facing some issues with 3G connectivity on Idea on that Rom so I decided to give the stock OS a chance, pretty neat if you ask me, no connectivity issues. It was worth the wait I guess.
No issues so far...running smoothly. I think the battery life got extended.. Last charging was done yesterday around 2 pm yesterday while updating the phone and still I have 47% remaining. The projected time is tomorrow 9.00. I am expecting for tomorrow morning.. I used to charge every 20 to 22 hrs..and after the update it is extended to 30 hrs..

Just copy the zip to the root folder and check for updates assuming you're on the Stock Lollipop ROM.

Uh, no. This is for the Moto Turbo XT1225. What phone do you have?
In the U.S. any OTA Marshmallow release would be the Droid Turbo XT1254 (different radio bands) and the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 (identical in every way to the XT1254, even same FCC ID, so different radio bands from the XT1225). Those have NOT been released yet.
However, it is about the same OTA which has been released for the "international" Moto Maxx XT1225 -- as the Moto Turbo XT1225 shares the same FCC ID. That OTA has been released in Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico that I know of, so far. Maybe even Chile, by now.
Back last year I flashed my Puerto Rico XT1225 and Mexico XT1225 to India Moto Turbo XT1225 as it got Lollipop 5.0.2. first. So, all the XT1225 are totally compatible with each other. BUT you should not flash an OTA from another region over your phone. You should flash the complete image, via ADB like found here (IF you have an XT1225):

@iiWoodstocK has a TWRP-flashable version of the Brazil Marshmallow image over in the Droid Turbo forum. It uses whatever radio you already have installed. It even works on Droid Turbo (just no VoLTE) as well as all the other Quarks:

this ROM is just factory Marshmallow with a modded build.prop. I didn't include any radio in the .zip, so it uses whatever is currently on the device. Aside from my build.prop tweaks, this ROM is even usable for Brazilian XT1225 users, but the device will say it's a Droid Turbo and contain useless CDMA build.prop lines.

@ChazzMatt Thanks for your reply, I do have XT1254 version so the Indian ota won't work for me then. But I don't use US networks (I'm from South America).
I will try @iiWoodstocK version to see if battery life is better than Mokee.
Thanks

Would any of them not affected by the cell standby bug when wifi and cellular data are enabled at the same time ? The battery drain is insane

From what I understand that is a Marshmallow problem in general, so yes.
There are ways to mitigate it, like using an xposed app that automatically drops you down to 3G when connected to wi-fi. You are getting data from wi-fi at that point, it doesn't matter how fast your mobile connection is. Others somehow turn off mobile data completely when on wi-fi. I'm not sure how that is done, whether manually or some xposed app that does it automatically.

6.0.1 Marshmellow firmware for XT1564 on Verizon

XT1681 dual SIM version

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I didn't find anything. I just purchased the XT1681 dual SIM version of this phone. First question, is it compatible with all the potter roms? Second question, will I lose the dual SIM function?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The builds for EU/US will work well for dual SIM devices. Only India has a different build (the latest one ends on 92 for India and 93 for EU/US). I have the european version with dual SIM (so I can't speak for the indian firmware) and flashed POTTER_NPNS25.137-33-11_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip without any problems. Also later builds should work.

I have the same model of you and i have flashed successful all of the roms here, now im on resurrection remix 6.0.
All roms have Dual Sim function so don't worry about it!
Remember if you flash custom Oreo roms don't get back to stock or you will lose VoLTE.
Take full twrp backup(oem, efs etc.) and keep it safe.
If you have any question you can send private message im from mexico too.
