UK version in the US? - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Does anyone have the bands list that is in the UK Xc? The US version doesn't have the fingerprint scanner so it may be worth it. I know warranty isn't going to be there but I'm fine with it.

Here's Clove's page on the XC with the supported bands.
https://www.clove.co.uk/sony-xperia-x-compact
Ordered it at Clove and working great here in California on AT&T. LTE speeds and fingerprint scanner.

Just received my X Compact (universe black) from Clove via DHL today. I ordered it Sunday. I paid £332.83 (including£17 for DHL delivery) total, so about $430 or so. It came with the USB charger that has the UK style plug.
I brought both the Z3 Compact & Z5 Compact so I figured I had to get the X Compact as well.
I will be using the X Compact on At&t as soon I get some sort of case. I've booted up the phone with my At&t sim and it found a 4G signal.

Can't you just buy the US version and flash UK or other firmware that has the fingerprint scanner active? They're signed by Sony so you don't invalidate any warranties. That's what I did for my Z5 compact - no bootloader unlocking or rooting required, it was just like flashing an upgrade. And it worked a treat! There's UK and Nordic firmwares on XperiFirm already, and the US one in case you want to go back. Just a thought for possibly easier returns, less international hassle etc., although I admit the price from clove is comparable to US Amazon.

Thanks for the replies. I've never flashed anything and I'm a little embarrassed to say I don't even know how. I'm on Tmobile so I'll have to check that band 12 is supported. Actually the clove unit is cheaper than the US version.

Looks like they have all the bands but missing frequency 700. Anyone know if this makes a difference? Btw, Let my know how you guys like the phone as you use it. There isn't much info yet online.

Does anyone know if the (frequency) matters on this? I'm just not sure and would like to import a UK model

is t-mobile launching MDA2 in UK?

I thought that the MDA2 didnt have the licensing issues that prevented T-mobile from selling mda1 in uk. How come they havent launched the mda2 yet? Are they going to launch in uk?
its called XDA 2 here and o2 own it over here
MDA one2one is american
and imate is mostly sim free i suspect
I heard from a T-Mobile reseller that they WILL be launching the MDAII in the UK, but don't know when.
If t-mobile launched sooner than later, it would be better for them, especially for market share. Plus it would be competition for o2, and so the prices would drop... so better for us.
the t-mobile uk site has got to be the most useless site on earth. Not a mention.
Definately coming as I have a pre-release UK English version.
me thinks i shall wait till crimbo to see what santa brings me lol
trying to sell my XDA 1 kit at the mo GPS, cam, boxed 64mb version, metal case and screen protector mint cond

Purchasing XDAII in USA?

Is there any place to purchase the XDAII in the United States. Any companies or contacts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not yet or at least not that I know of, except a US ebayer.
Closest to US that I know of is Tek N Toys, Canada
Ordered from Germany
I ordered from ppcw.net in germany. Arne treated me very well. His stock is accurate. If he says he's got it he'll ship it. Treated me in an utmost professional manner. I received the phone within 2 weeks. He's a great guy to deal with.
Mike
Actually there is a place in the U.S. which sells them. As of yersturday they had 2 in stock ready for shipping. www.swpwireless.com
mttaro, anyone,
I have a XDA II purchased in Germany, I am soon to travel to the US, will I be able to charge my XDA II using the US voltage? Are there any problems like with travel hairdryers etc
thanks,
you will have no problem the charger is dual voltage 110 and 220 So both north america and Europe. (have a look on it)
You do need a prong adapter, not a voltage changer.
iMate PE (XDA 2) sold in USA
After looking around, I bought my iMate PE from this store - I am very happy with it.
Oops... here is the link to their eBay store...
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...rid=mattbwn&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50
I must be missing something, because I was unaware all these cellular or wireless voice providers were compatible with the iMate.
From the eBay Ad:
Alltel, AT&T Wireless, Bell Mobility, Cingular, Nextel, Rogers AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular
You need GSM with this device. That is not the technology that all these Carriers provide.
I would think that someone with Nextell might be very upset with their purchase.

Xoom difference between US & UK

I am going over to the states monday and wondered if there was any difference in hardware as the UK version is £100 more expensive?
any reason apart from the different power connector?
should I buy one when I am over there or wait until I'm back I'm not to worried about waiting more about the cash
If you buy the us version you won't be able to use 3g in the uk as the radio is incompatable. So you should compare price with the uk wifi version.
good to know
thanks
Yup, US version are CDMA and won't work in UK.
Also best to wait till the UK version comes out - will probably have Flash support out of the box, and may be even cheaper given rumors that poor sales may prompt a price drop.
Either way should be out in the UK in next 2-3 weeks and you'll get a choice of WiFi only as well... my advice is wait
I assume all non power accessories are universal etc as the uk and us price is identical $ to £ ~40% reduction

Expansys is selling refurbished phones in ebay.$675.
I bought the phone last week and i live in downtown chicago. After a week of experience with phone i would say this is the best ever. GPS is accurate in the downtown although there are few hiccups when across willis tower and trump tower which is pretty normal for a GPS. Wifi is great i never had any problems so far. Data connection on my At&t is much faster than my captivate(1.6MB/sec vs 2MB/sec). I tried testing it vs iphone 4, my galaxys2 showed significantly faster data speeds. Battery is ok but not the best. Call quality is something you would really like. I am really happy and proud to have phone a like this.
I hope i helped some of other fellow XDA members by starting this thread with coupon codes.

Guys. Lots of Accessories. Its 779$ though.
Somewhere around here someone posted a voucher code for 15 bucks off that works at expansys usa and you can also go through ebates for 3 percent off making it the lowest price I have run into for the phone. Ya gotta be willing to wait though, shipping is 4 days off and comes ground if you choose the free shiping.
2G: 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz (Quadband)
3G: 900/2100 (Dual-band)

What's this about?
Why do they say it only supports 3G 900/2100
There's also no mention of warranty. I guess I have to assume it doesn't come with one?
They say they have 41 in stock on the US site... will it actually ship FROM the US or are they just shipping it from the UK? I assume it's from the US since the shipping options are 3-5 day GROUND which would be impossible from England =)
BTW coupon code EXP10 works out to a bit over 16 bucks off (since it's 10 GBP off), bit better than the $15 off code above.

Warranty - no, it is a grey (unlicensed/unsanctioned) phone in the USA. None of the sellers will sell you an SGS2 currently with a US warranty. Some will come with UK warranty only. I do not know what ExpUSA is selling though.
Regarding the 3G bands, this forum thread on their site quotes a rep saying only 2 bands are supported, and later on in the year a model will come with support for the other 2 bands. There won't be a quad band 3G phone according to that person. Not sure how true it is.
Nevertheless the stock count went down from 41 to 34 in about half hour

I wonder why they would provide conflicting information then
So when would we be able to buy a GS2 in the US that comes with a warranty?
Is that only when the carriers start selling it?
Well Guyz, i don't think samsung makes separate phones for Expansys with a different radio. It would assume it is a Typo. Obviously this phone is from UK without NFC.
There is only one version of the phone for now. If I had to guess and this is only a guess having called them I think they were originally unable to switch it over to the 850/1900 bands back in the UK when they first got a handset to fiddle with. For that reason they are saying it is dual band only in case it turned out the 850/1900 bands were disabled or lacking the radios they would not be faced with a bunch of returns from the states.
these have to be just UK models shipped over here to the USA. which in that case, i would actually rather have the UK model if it has a warranty.
however it might be easier to return/exchange with expansys usa if something is defective with the phone initially. but it would be more difficult to return the device back to the UK for a swap. tough decision...
I would rather not take the risk of it not supporting AT&T bands.
Guess I'll wait...
Well I have one wandering my way from these guys so I can let you know on the AT&T. I'm not concerned though, there is only one model currently on sale anywhere and it is already shown to work on AT&T. Like Roger I believe these are UK phones expansys is selling on their usa site which would be the ones shown to work.
There is a thread in here with people reporting the phone is getting very fast 3G speeds on AT&T. Unless they are lying, and I am hard pressed to think why, something about that page is fishy.
Well guys I ordered from here when it was about 30 left in stock, per product page.
Already got a fedex tracking num, not picked up by fedex yet.
When I get mine I will test on AT&T and TMOB
If anyone gets theirs sooner - please also post your findings! thanks
Do you people not read other threads on this forum? These are already confirmed to work on AT&T.

The difference is that Expansys says it's only Dual-band for whatever reason
Meaning that the ones they're selling might be, however little the chance

We people spend 20 hours a day reading this forum man. I have no life besides this forum
The concern with Expansys USA is their site and some of their support people claimed only 2 bands are supported for 3G. We do not know where they are importing from, could be limited models from some remote country (like Russia)
Also i have a question why is Expansys Uk selling it for 519 pounds which is almost equal to 852$ USA and Expansys USA selling it for 749$. Since the phone is coming from UK it has to be at least more than 852$. Can we assume this is not a UK phone.
Not really because that UK price includes VAT which is not required for the US. If you order from Handtec to the US it's actually cheaper than Expansys USA's site once you do the conversion at today's exchange rate.
I'm 99% certain the phone they have is the UK version. They're a UK based company, the specs are identical, and the only other version out there is the Korean one.
Anyway, anyone order this today and get a tracking number yet?

All this Expansys talk was covered in the thread I linked. They are wrong.

H850 European version purchase

I want to get the H850 European version looks to be my best option for a unlocked boot-loader and unlocked carrier phone as all the H830 G5's in my area are still locked to T-Mobile and Titan color H830 seem to be non existent.
So I check on eBay and found a H850 but after contacting the seller and asking if it is the European version and finding out it is a US version?, I am back on the hunt...
So how does one find a H850 European version to purchase here in the US?
I would recommend taking a look at Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de to check if they ship to the US, as if they do, you can order the phone there and this also means that you'll definitely receive an unlocked European version of the phone.
My suggestion being an owner of an H850 is to pass on this device for now and possibly look into the Note 7 or LG V20 once it's released. Aside from the hardware being great there are really no projects being seriously headed right now. CM13 is a long way off on account of camera drivers and system framework issues and the modified stock roms really have no performance value since they are basically just stock with a few app changes here and there. There's also no kernels with overclock or other features. I wish I had looked into this more since rooting with Xposed is really the only software benefit I've managed to muster. I should've just opted for the T-Mobile variant since they have root and then I wouldn't have overpaid $200 for the 850 (purchased for $600, ouch).
if u know someone in the uk the EE store sells the G5 at a bargain price of £399 / $520.
you would need to purchase a £10 top up voucher then register and then use that credit to pay the £8.99 unlock code to get the phone unlocked for any sim.
Short of buying a Chinese import with lacklustre skinned software and bad support (LeEco, ZTE, etc) this is a bargain for a 2016 flagship.
Thanks for all the replies. I am still looking for a H830 Titan Unlocked LG G5 but they seem to be a rare one for some reason....
The search continues...
Ended up getting a new H830 already unlocked for $400 in Silver. Was hoping for Titan but silver will do.
