Expansys is selling refurbished phones in ebay.$675.
I bought the phone last week and i live in downtown chicago. After a week of experience with phone i would say this is the best ever. GPS is accurate in the downtown although there are few hiccups when across willis tower and trump tower which is pretty normal for a GPS. Wifi is great i never had any problems so far. Data connection on my At&t is much faster than my captivate(1.6MB/sec vs 2MB/sec). I tried testing it vs iphone 4, my galaxys2 showed significantly faster data speeds. Battery is ok but not the best. Call quality is something you would really like. I am really happy and proud to have phone a like this.
I hope i helped some of other fellow XDA members by starting this thread with coupon codes.

Guys. Lots of Accessories. Its 779$ though.

Somewhere around here someone posted a voucher code for 15 bucks off that works at expansys usa and you can also go through ebates for 3 percent off making it the lowest price I have run into for the phone. Ya gotta be willing to wait though, shipping is 4 days off and comes ground if you choose the free shiping.

What's this about?
Why do they say it only supports 3G 900/2100
There's also no mention of warranty. I guess I have to assume it doesn't come with one?

They say they have 41 in stock on the US site... will it actually ship FROM the US or are they just shipping it from the UK? I assume it's from the US since the shipping options are 3-5 day GROUND which would be impossible from England =)
BTW coupon code EXP10 works out to a bit over 16 bucks off (since it's 10 GBP off), bit better than the $15 off code above.

Warranty - no, it is a grey (unlicensed/unsanctioned) phone in the USA. None of the sellers will sell you an SGS2 currently with a US warranty. Some will come with UK warranty only. I do not know what ExpUSA is selling though.
Regarding the 3G bands, this forum thread on their site quotes a rep saying only 2 bands are supported, and later on in the year a model will come with support for the other 2 bands. There won't be a quad band 3G phone according to that person. Not sure how true it is.
Nevertheless the stock count went down from 41 to 34 in about half hour

I wonder why they would provide conflicting information then
So when would we be able to buy a GS2 in the US that comes with a warranty?
Is that only when the carriers start selling it?

Well Guyz, i don't think samsung makes separate phones for Expansys with a different radio. It would assume it is a Typo. Obviously this phone is from UK without NFC.

There is only one version of the phone for now. If I had to guess and this is only a guess having called them I think they were originally unable to switch it over to the 850/1900 bands back in the UK when they first got a handset to fiddle with. For that reason they are saying it is dual band only in case it turned out the 850/1900 bands were disabled or lacking the radios they would not be faced with a bunch of returns from the states.

these have to be just UK models shipped over here to the USA. which in that case, i would actually rather have the UK model if it has a warranty.
however it might be easier to return/exchange with expansys usa if something is defective with the phone initially. but it would be more difficult to return the device back to the UK for a swap. tough decision...

I would rather not take the risk of it not supporting AT&T bands.
Guess I'll wait...

Well I have one wandering my way from these guys so I can let you know on the AT&T. I'm not concerned though, there is only one model currently on sale anywhere and it is already shown to work on AT&T. Like Roger I believe these are UK phones expansys is selling on their usa site which would be the ones shown to work.

There is a thread in here with people reporting the phone is getting very fast 3G speeds on AT&T. Unless they are lying, and I am hard pressed to think why, something about that page is fishy.

Well guys I ordered from here when it was about 30 left in stock, per product page.
Already got a fedex tracking num, not picked up by fedex yet.
When I get mine I will test on AT&T and TMOB
If anyone gets theirs sooner - please also post your findings! thanks

Do you people not read other threads on this forum? These are already confirmed to work on AT&T.

We people spend 20 hours a day reading this forum man. I have no life besides this forum
The concern with Expansys USA is their site and some of their support people claimed only 2 bands are supported for 3G. We do not know where they are importing from, could be limited models from some remote country (like Russia)

Also i have a question why is Expansys Uk selling it for 519 pounds which is almost equal to 852$ USA and Expansys USA selling it for 749$. Since the phone is coming from UK it has to be at least more than 852$. Can we assume this is not a UK phone.

Not really because that UK price includes VAT which is not required for the US. If you order from Handtec to the US it's actually cheaper than Expansys USA's site once you do the conversion at today's exchange rate.
I'm 99% certain the phone they have is the UK version. They're a UK based company, the specs are identical, and the only other version out there is the Korean one.
Anyway, anyone order this today and get a tracking number yet?

Where to buy unlocked GSM Hero?

Other than ebay, where can I get an unlocked hero? I know there's a site called 'puremobile' or 'purephones' or something... there was a site that I was on yesterday that had unlocked Hero's for $520 which is a perfect price but I can't seem to remember where that was.
LOL they have them on ebay for around 400 or even less if your lucky.
Mind pasting some links? Because I'm looking on EBay and all I see is $550 and up right now.
Have you tried Handtec? i bought my HD from there, dunno if they have a US Site tho
Hmm... I'm not sure if they will ship to the states... Any others?
Puremobile - Canadian retailer
Negri Electronics - I got mine from here. It was already unlocked (the Telus version), so I didn't have to pony up for an unlock code. Ships from Wisconsin
i Would check out play.com or similar sites, they sell unlocked (simfree) handsets , i would avoid ebay or any sites like that
Hello just registered
I am exactly looking for same thing. Please someone help me I will buy from US.
What i came accross was ;

499 bucks.
But is this site safe ? And i read something like this about them ? But i guess this problem can be solved with ROM update right ?
DO NOT BUY FORM THIS COMPANY. i bought a htc hero, it came in quickly but could only be set up in enlish with three asian countries, no possiblities to be set up in USA or any other country. Once you set up english in either Malaysian, Cambodia, or Indonesia then you get english key board but still has asian symbols so you don't to use full effect of keypad. Also it does not have andriod market or any upgrade programs. i tried to call the company, no answer, then i sent them 8 yes 8 emails asking them to contact me and not one single reply so now my return deadline has passed. i contacted better business beruea and if i don't hear from them soon i will contact them via my brother who lucky for me works FBI in the southern florida district and has police friends to get something moving on this scam. they robbed me of 499.00 dollars and i am not happy. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AND AMAZON SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO USE THEM.

Why the price difference? (US vs AU)

So the US T-Mobile branded phone is for all intents and purposes, a better phone going by the specs, ROM & RAM upgrade.
So why is T-Mobile offering $450 no contract, and it's around $800-$900 to import one from Australia? I mean I understand taxes duties and the likes, and exchange rates, but 1 U.S. dollar = 1.09649123 Australian dollars So there shouldn't be THAT much of a difference...
Supply and demand my friend. Although the ones that come from AU being the Telstra brand works on the ATT 3G bands.

Yes I know that the telstra version works with AT&T, which is why I'm curious of the price difference.
HD2 T-Mobile US: $450 USD no contract
HD2 Telstra: $755.88 USD ($829.00 AUD) no contract
HD2 UK: $692.04 USD (£464.99) no contract
My point is that the T-Mo phone is a better phone, spec wise compared to the Telstra one.
Why the $200+ price difference for less of a phone?
Don't forget that the poor Australians usually pay ANY electronic device / technical stuff a good deal more than everybody else in the first place, all the stuff with importing goods to a remote country for few people and transporting them all across a huge country... that would be the difference between the UK and AUS price you listed.
Then to the difference between UK and US, I'd put it down to TMO subsidizing it and selling with little or no profit for marketing reasons. Even without contract the phones are locked to their network, so they make sure they'll recover costs from service. In Europe ours aren't locked, so we can buy one and use it anywhere.

Things aren't really that expensive down here!
1) agree that T-mobile is probably still subsidising the device. The price of the Telstra version is completely unlocked and could be used on other networks.
2) the telstra price includes all taxes and charges
3) the exchange rate (USD-AUD) has varied quite a bit and was down to .77 (now at .91) at some stage in the last 6 months. Given that companies like HTC set their sales strategies months out - they might have used at lower exchange rates.
Still - I bought mine off ebay for $700 AUD. I hate telstra

Think about it for a moment. Supply and demand. Let it sink in...
TmoUS has an HD2. AT&T and a few other Canadian carriers dont. So there's the potential of XX million of users on all of those carriers who will not get the HD2. With that in mind, the DEMAND for the HD2 is very high (as it was across Europe and Asia) and being that this is a very expensive smartphone, HTC can't churn them out like Nokia with all their dumbphones, resulting in a very low SUPPLY.
Just think of the next time you drive your car and you're low on gas. All the gas stations around you are out of gas themselves except for one. Unfortunately, this one gas station understands that you have no other alternative except coming here for gas, so it is charging $5/gal compare to $2/gal of the other ones. If you're unwilling to walk 10mi to your workplace, you'd fork over the money to fill up with $5/gal.
Now about the hardware, noone here cares about TmoUS having an extra 512MB of ROM when most people install it on their 16GB sd card anyway. So hardware is a moot point.

850/2100 is dynamite.

This device doesn't support UMTS 900 MHz which is a must-have here in Europe. All current phones sold here support it. Oppo is apparently not 100% prepared to launch this device in Europe. It's not as simple as take a phone that's sold in Asia and just sell it here, other manufacturers have variants for a reason or just make multi-band devices.

This is official info from their page:
http://europe.oppostyle.com/home/8-find-5-white.html (Specifications tab).
It supports 900 MHz only on very slow 2G (edge speed). And in Europe many carriers use 900 MHz for UMTS/3G so all phones support it.

Thanks for spotting that. Rather odd being as at least as far as the UK is concerned both Vodafone & O2 use the 900 MHz band.

2. Does the phone ship factory sealed?

@AndreiLux,
Hi, I live in Ecuador and the networks here are Claro and Movistar. I think the 910C is the version I need but not 100%. I am visiting the States in 2 weeks and want to bring back the new phone with me, so I need to get this purchased right away so it can be shipped on time. Do you know what the difference is between the 910C and 910U? If you develop for one, will it be compatible with the other? I will be happy to contribute to your fundraiser campaign to make sure it gets funded.
I am *only* interested in this phone with a custom rom, I don't want all the extra Samsung apps. I want pure Android. So it's very important to me to make sure I buy the right phone that is going to be modded by the community.
I'm having some trouble finding someone that will ship it to the States quickly enough for a reasonable price.
Thank you.

Where did you purchase it from? With the reports of the screen issues in some phones im hesitant to order from another country in case OnePlus have an issues with warranties with phones from different regions

can you tell me exactly what you did to accomplish this bro? Like step-by-step. I'm assuming you went to oneplus.com/cn and used Google translate to navigate through? And it'll allow you to ship to United States?

No. He most likely purchased it on a site like Wonda Mobile dot com or Trading Shenzhen dot com.

The thread title says it all. Rather curious how I can get my hands on the Chinese version. I'm an American living in States, but those prices are ridiculously lower. The handset itself is supposed to be identical. Anyone know how I can order one?

The handset won't be identical
The Chinese version will be missing out on quite a few LTE/5G bands support in the states
4G Bands missing from China/India variant compared to US variant- B13, 25, 28, 29, 30, 66, 71

I have bought foreign phones before and have always found ways to enable/disable bands as needed.. The Snapdragon is very versatile. I'm hoping that installing the international oxygen OS rom will configure the bands. When I get the device I will thoroughly test every band and let you know how I get on.

I still have DFS tools installed on my desktop. The last time I went down this route I ended up enabling every band there was.. naughty but fun.

Haha your post cracks me up, mate. Did you ever get the band unlocked? I'm torn between waiting four more days until it's available in the US, or getting it off of Wonda.
Perhaps you can help me decide. When the phone arrived, did it look brand-spanking-new? Or were there fingerprints all over it? After all, they had to manually flash the international version of OOS I'm assuming? and did it come in original packaging? Or do they just take the components out and just stick it in a random box?

Careful the Chinese version is missing a few of the bands we use here. Think o2 is fine but the rest need band 32 I think for lte advance so you may get slower 4g speeds if on Three voda ee or their mvno's.
Maybe you can unlock bands. Wonda mobile a great trustworthy store
I'm in Canada and bought a pro 256gb from Alibaba for about 1240 CAD all in. Flashed with global ROM.
Very risky for general user but I've been buying equipment and components for my company from Alibaba for years now. I personally have never had an issue (with fraud anyways)

Well, just setting up my Chinese black OP8 and all seems well. VoWIFI, VoLTE, everything working beautifully. I've got a
12 GB model for less than the 8GB model. Happy bunny.

The seal on the box was broken to upgrade the firmware but the device was still wrapped in its protective film. I'm currently on band 20 VoLTE and the device is identifying itself as the international version. I suspect the relevant bands were enabled/disabled with the ROM change.

Wonda mobile.
Question for those using chinese version in USA.
How is it working?
I want the green 256GB version and dual Sim. So going down this route might be my best option.
Only problem I see is if I have a screen issue, will be harder to return.
What do you guys think? Thanks for the replies.
I have used Wonda Mobile and returned a mobile with no issues, you pay for shipping if you change your mind with a fee but if it's faulty they will reimburse you.
I have ordered many times from Wonda Mobile, can't rate them high enough. My 8 Pro was shipped on Monday and I had it by Saturday, 12/256gb £100 cheaper......:good:
