Delete .nomedia permanently? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
i'd like to delete the .nomedia permanently inside the "Sent" Folder of Whatsapp.
I'd like to have my Whatsapptaken pictures appear in the Gallery, beside the incoming ones id like to stay in .nomedia.
When i delete the .nomedia inside the "Sent" Folder and restart my phone, it just reappears.
Anyone knows how to permanently delete the .nomedia in the Sent folder?
Thanks in Davance

Have you thought of trying to do this with Tasker?

never worked with Tasker, but i dont want to "copy" them over to DCIM, just want to get them to Gallery

to make things clear:
I'd like Photos made by Whatsapp (in /Whatsapp/Media/Whatsapp Images/Sent Folder) to be shown in my gallery (like on iOS).
Theres is a .nomedia item inside the Sent folder which seems to be newly created after every reboot of the System (despite deleting it upfront, of course)
any advices how i can make those (and only those, not my received images) visible in my gallery?

Anyone got an Idea?

I got the same problem. Need help too

you can use QuickPic and select Show Hidden

Duplicate folders

Hi, I want to save space on my MDA and while doing so I noticed that there are some duplicate folders. The only difference is that one end with a dot. For example: I have SPB Weather installed in the folder "Weather". But I see 2 folders, one is named "Weather" and the other "Weather."
Both folders however contain the same files and folders. Is it safe to delete one of them? And what does the dot mean?

Activesync - syncing files

I recently setup Activesync to sync files but i really only wanted it to sync a single Word Document file in My Documents on my Vario.
When it syncs it syncs the whole of the My Documents folder, which is crap cos this contains all my camera photos and videos and I dont want that. is there a way to just do files you want.
I managed to delete the files on my PC and it removed them on my Vario!
Also any new files that appear in My Documents on my Vario get automatically synced!
TIA
Doug
That would be difficult. What I suggest would be to move your not-wanting-to-syn files to your storage card or some folder in your root (e.g. not in the My Documents). Yeah, that would cause problems with many of your applications as it will look for My Document first and you would have to go and find your customized folder.
Anyway, you can try this (I didn't try it before). Create a shortcut in your My Documents that point to another folder where you keep all your real files, so that if your app open My Document, it would be easy for you to find that folder. But, still any photo taken by your camera will be still in My Document.
Anyway, there isn't much harm syncing all files. I mean, as long as the files are not changed, the isn't much time consumed in synching them. Better just leave them as they are

Tip: Deleting Playlist from Mediascape

Some of you may be having problems with deleting playlist folder from mediascape. When you delete a playlist from Media-Go the mediascape retains an empty folder. Two solutions:
i. Go to Settings >>> Applications >>> Manage Applications >>> Media Storage >>> Clear All Data>>> Restart the phone
This will clear the playlists. Problem is it will clear all media data, be it music or video. While all your media will still be in the SD card you will not be able to retain/view it on x10 unless you erase them via Media-Go and re-upload them. A painstaking task. Nonetheless working one.
ii. When you delete a playlist from Media-Go it only deletes the folder in Media-Go. The X10 retains an empty folder and that is because the songs in that folder are not deleted from x10. Go back to Media-Go>>> X10 (or whatever name you have given to your device)>>> Music - and carefully delete the songs that are/were suppose to be in the now empty playlist folder >>> Restart the phone
I am not too sure about the success of the 2nd step. I stumbled upon it accidentally. I noticed that duplicate songs existed from the playlist I had deleted previously and decided to delete them manually - one by one. When I restarted the phone I found that the empty playlist folder was now gone.
If someone does this and my accidental experiment works do inform.
Notification alerts
I did this and cleared the data and the phone has no tones for any alerts including SD Card, sms, mms etc. Trying to change them just comes up with an empty list.
Restart the phone and it will link the folders up again, just means you need to reset the alerts you want for each notificaation type ie sms, email etc

[Q] Sync Issues

I have a problem with syncing using kies.
i picked folders from my pc for music, pictures and videos i want to sync automatically with my sgs2.
there are several subfolders in either of those categories, but on the phone, the music just all gets copied to the /media/ folder, without subfolders and pictures and videos go to /DCIM/Camera without subfolders.
is there any way to get to sync my folders on the pc with specific folders on the phone? i'd like to keep my pictures separated from the videos and in their respective sub folders. pics from my pc don't belong in the camera folder. the same goes for the music. i want to separate albums and especially audiobooks in their respective folders.
surely there must be settings for this kind of things, but i just can't find anything and i don't want to copy everything back and forth manually every day, just so that new items get copied, especially since the phone does not fully behave like a drive on windows7, either i overwrite the entire folder, or no items will be copied, which is annoying.

Can I delete Mobile Content Transfer file?

So my wife recently made the move from an iPhone to an S5 and the Verizon Rep used the Mobile Content Transfer app to move her pics, contacts, calendars, etc from her iPhone over to her S5. The problem is that it created a 12GB file on her new phone and has taken up the majority of the phone's internal memory.
When I go into the Storage settings I can see the file. I am wondering if it is ok to delete this file. Or, would that delete all the photos and contacts from her phone?
What's my best option here? Do I need to transfer the files from the iPhone to a computer and then onto the S5? What about the contacts? I checked her Google account and it looks like they are backed up there just fine.
Yes .... You can delete the folder
I'm adding this reply to help anyone finding this thread. My wife's LG-G6 running Android 8.0 has this same folder. I deleted it without any problem. Here's what led me to it. When I looked at photos in the "Gallery" app a lot of folders (with photos) were showing up twice. I opened "file manager" and searched for one of the file names that was in both folders. It showed up twice. I looked at the "details" for each and found one of the folders was this "Mobile Content Transfer". I looked at this folder with "file manager" app but it didn't show me the duplicate photos until I selected "show hidden files". Then I remembered that I used the "Setup and Transfer" app when I first setup my wife's phone to transfer files/photos/folders from her old phone to the G6. Then it all made sense. This folder must just be a temporary folder that the app used but didn't delete it once the setup/transfer was complete. Once I deleted this folder multi-gigs opened up on my storage.
Hope this helps ........
