Tab A SM T550, android 6.0.1 root problem - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I am trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM T550, android 6.0.1 and having a problem. The root seems to work fine but upon re-boot I am stuck at the first Samsung Logo. I can’t do anything from there accept go into downloading mode and flash stock recovery and then the tablet works again but isn’t rooted.
I am using this root method; http://www.howtorootphone.com/2016/09/Root-galaxy-Tab-A-9.7-on-6.0.1.html
How to root Galaxy Tab A 9.7
1. Install the USB driver for your tablet into your computer.
2. Enable USB Debugging on your tablet by going to Settings>>Developer options and tick USB Debugging. If your tablet misses Developer options the go to About and tap on Build number 7 times.
3. Power off your tablet and boot into download mode by pressing and holding Volume down, Home and Power button together.
4. Connect your Galaxy Tab A 9.7 to your computer using a data cable.
5. Unzip Odin3 zip file and open Odin3.exe.
6. Make sure that only "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" is selected in the options menu of Odin.
7. Unzip CF-Auto-Root file and get the root file for your tablet.
8. Click on AP button and select the root file.
9. Click on Start button to begin the rooting process.
Any ideas about what went wrong? Help!!!

hey i've got the same problem with the same tablet! Did you solve it?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab/development/guide-twrp-r-t3390115
I did this and this worked for me the same...
But in the last , the reboot screen is there and phone isn't starting . Please help as fast as you can .

Root with super su, go to supersu.com then download the recovery flashable one. If you can't boot to your tablet restore a backup or flash stock rom, hope this helps!

Samsung would know it is rooted before mine went back I flashed it with old Samsung firmware.
I once soft-bricked my OG Galaxy Tab and was able to unbrick it with a JTAG software application. I have it on my desktop at home. Unfortunately, I'm in the office right now, but I'll check when I get home and update with the name and a link if I can locate it.
The application I mentioned in my post above is called "One Click Unbrick." It works for any Samsung devices that use Odin 3, (which includes the Galaxy Tab 7.) I've used it a few times to recover from softbrick. I've been in a similar situation where I couldn't get into download mode and the computer didn't recognize the device when it was plugged in, but OneClick Unbrick did and managed to bring my tablet back to life. You can find it here:

Go to the thread "Root galaxy tab 10.1 the easy way". You will find the link to the file you need. Put the "update.zip" in the root folder of your tab. Reboot into recovery by switching off your tab. Press the left volume button and hold it while powering on your tab. Wait for the recovery options. Now press the volume up botton again and then vol down. Choose the option "install zip from sdcard". It will give you root access and install superuser. Now you can download busybox from the market and complete the root from within busybox app.
connect first is the right way
First .... I think you should have a pc connection to your tab ,, Transfering Files and data through the usb port is fast ,easy and useful
You nay try Install new "Windows 7" to your pc , I'm using Windows 7 and first time I connect my tab to my pc It found its driver itself (may be through internet / not sure)
ODIN is useful /// by the way you may try Mobile ODIN :good::good::good:

Connect your pc to your tab when you are in android, make sure your tab's drivers are installed,go to here:
sites.google.com/site/arashtarafar/
Download "recovery.tar.md5" at the bottom of the page...
Put your tab into download mode(a green android image will appear on the screen),launch Odin, connect tab to pc,if you don't have the tab's drivers but have an internet connection, windows(mine windows 7) will automatically search for and install them.if so,wait until finished, then you should see a text with yellow background showing "COM X(1,2,3,...)"that tells that your tab is detected by Odin, now in Odin press the pda button and in the browser window that appears choose your recovery(you've downloaded that),wait until a word "PASSED" with green backgroung appears, disconnect tab from pc...go into recovery,if you see a rolling screen press the power button to restart tab, then go to the above link and download "bootloader.tar.md5",flash this with the above instructions...

Wrong section. Please close this and go to question tread
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app
1) Download and install USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy S4 on the computer.
2) Verify that USB Debugging Mode is enabled which will allow to connect the phone with the computer and use the Android SDK with it. [Press Menu>> Settings>> Applications. From there navigate and click on Development option and ensure the USB Debugging Mode is turned on.]
3) Create a backup of all data
4) The battery of the device should have above 80 per cent charge.
5) The root method works only on the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 running on Android 4.2.2 XXUAMC6 Jelly Bean; applying this root to incorrect variants will brick the device.
Steps to root Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 on Android 4.2.2 XXUAMC6 Jelly Bean
1) Download I9500XXUAMC6 pre-rooted firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 to the computer and extract the zip file
2) Download Odin v1.85 which will help to root the Jelly Bean firmware
3) Turn off the Galaxy S4 and enter Download Mode. Press and hold Volume Down + Home buttons together and then press the Power button until the construction Android robot and a triangle are seen. Press the Power button again to enter Download Mode
4) Run Odin on the computer
5) Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable while it is in Download Mode. If the device is connected successfully, one of the ID: COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number. This step might take some time
6) Select the files mentioned below to install on the phone
a) Click on 'PDA' and select file with 'CODE' in its name
b) Click on 'Phone' and select file with 'MODEM' in its name
c) Click on 'CSC' and select file with 'CSC' in its name
d) Click on 'PIT' and select the .pit file
7) Ensure the 'Auto Reboot' and 'F Reset Time' options are selected in Odin. Also ensure the 'Re-Partition' option is selected in case the .pit file is being used
8) Double check everything and finally click the 'Start' button in Odin. The installation process will begin and take a few minutes to complete
9) After the installation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically. Once the home screen appears on the device, unplug the USB cable

Fix screen mirroring after root - Android 5.1.1 - Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) P605 LTE

This is for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) LTE P605 (lt03ltexx)
Could work for rooted P600, p601, and many other Samsung devices with 5.1.1
If this break your phone or neck I'm not responsible. You do it on your own risk. It worked for me.
* If you don't need root, you don't have to do this.
1. Root your device first (with stock ROM)
2. Try Screen Mirroring. (*If screen mirroring worked fine you don't need to do anything.)
3. If screen mirroring failed
a. Use a root explorer.
b. take a backup copy of your build.prop file from \system directory
c. Edit the file and at the end of the file add wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
d. Save the file
e. Restart the device
Now it should work fine.
There are lots of articles to help you how to root and how to flash stock ROM.
Thanks. Fixed my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and Samsung Galaxy S5.
To anybody adding this fix don't overlook line d. Save the file and restart.
You are welcome

I posted this in this thread where I originally saw your advice: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-hardware-problem-t2982049/page4#post72866194
But I figured I'd come to your thread too.
So I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy tab S 10, I did this process once and it did not work so I replaced the edited build.prop file with the original I saved. Afterwards I decided to give it another try just in case, this time I cut and pasted wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable, saved, checked it was there, restarted and now my device will not restart. All it will do is display SAMSUNG GALXY TAB S POWERED BY ANDROID and vibrate in a pattern, three quick pulses then one pulse, pause, repeat. I can hard restart it but it only goes to the exact same screen. I can't even shut it down, only restart.
So this is a huge bummer. Is this fixable?
I think something went wrong somewhere. Now on my way to work. I'll help you once I'm back. I think it can be fixed.

Thank you, I'm also about to be heading out for a while but I'd love to give anything a try in the morning.
I have since found that I can boot it into Odin mode, but not Recovery mode. I don't know anything about Odin mode, but the only thing I've been able to do from there is get it back to the boot screen I mentioned above. Either way still can't shut it down.

now you can try
root with CF-Auto-Root
use xplor app you find the file build.prop file from \system directory
look for wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable or wlan.wfd.hdcp=enable
if wlan.wfd.hdcp=enable make it wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
otherwise add wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable at the end of the file

Welcome to XDA,
To root your phone you can follow the steps below. Remember you need to have a PC.
1. Download a custom recovery. You can download one from here. Make sure to download the Odin one (not anything else)
https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxygrandprime.html
2. Download and install Samsung USB drive for PC from this link
http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
3. Download Odin from this XDA thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
4. Download and copy the SuperSU (root) file that I attached on this post. Should be attached below.
--Now downloading stuff finished. Let's go to the rooting---
1. Open up Odin and select the custom recovery zip in CP or AP or DL spot. Make sure other than Auto reboot and F.Reset time nothing is enabled. Both auto reboot and f.reset time should be enabled
2. Go-to about device and tap build number few times to enable developer option.
3. Go-to developer option and enable usb debugging.
4. Turn off your phone and goto download mode by holding down (Vol -) and (power/lock) and (home) button at the same time until there is a warning sign.
5. Press vol + to go to download mode. Put on USB cable to your phone from pc
6. On PC you should see a blue sign with a text like 'COM:01'. If you see it just press flash button.
--your custom recovery is flashed--
Now comes rooting
7. Once flashed Power off your phone again and hold down (vol +) + (home) + (power) and keep holding until Samsung logo
8.. you should be booted to recovery. Now flash the SuperSU zip attached at the 2nd post.
9. Reboot and your rooted

Strange. It should work. I used Kingroot before and it was supported. Even the device is still in the official Kingroot supported device. Maybe it's not working because you have the latest XCS firmware installed. I use xcu and it's working for me.
Looks like you have no other option but use PC method.

I am sorry, I don't have it. I deleted it. But it doesn't matter which Kingroot you use. Because the root files are saved in server. Even if you use a very old version of Kingroot you will get the same root files as the new one has.
I deleted it because Kingroot is a malware (or at least I heard). It takes a lot of your personal details (like IMEI, Phone Number, etc) and adware in both statusbar and lock screen. So I don't like Kingroot that much.

To answer your question, nope. This method will not work on any other OEM like Sony, Xiaomi, LG, Nexus etc. This only works on Samsung devices.
