Gear S3 - AT&T Note 7 Questions & Answers

I think we should petition Samsung to give us all free gear s3's for all of this crap. I would be happy. Dies anyone here know how to start a petition?

I had read somewhere that they were planning on giving out Gear VR2's, but the article I was reading was for non-carrier phones bought through Samsung.

What they need to give me again is CONFIDENCE in their products.

Where is our MM

Didn't Samsung say February for marshmallow on our Note 4? Or was it March? Either way no update what so ever this month?
It was scheduled for this month.
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
This mo? Don't think so. The note 5, international mind you, has only just started seeing it as of yesterday so I wouldn't expect ours until towards the end of the second quarter at least. Besides you'll see an rdf pop up 1st once they actually start working on it then many more rdf versions until a final release. I'm dropping this phone the day the new g5 drops anyway. It's just uneceptible the g4 has marshmallow since Christmas along with practicality every other manufacturer except Samsung. The g5 looks to be a killer device too. Hope they really sink Samsungs ship with it honestly. Especially after the update fiasco for the note 4 last year. Typical Samsung fashion though. Rant over.

Well the g5 was released and I gotta say I'm disappointed. 5.3 in screen size? That'll just be hard to use coming from this.

+1
The G5 is a two-lens modular multi-featured camera pretending to be a smart phone.
If I want a modular high-quality digital camera, I'll buy one with a couple lenses I can switch between.
I want a smart phone, and I'm happy if it has nice camera features.
Each to his/her own, though.

Perhaps the release from Samsung was scheduled for this month - but Samsung releases to the carriers, at least in Sprint's case, and then the carrier does their thing with it until they deem it ready to release to their customers. Samsung doesn't set Sprint's schedule

International version would probably get it 1st before anyone then if that goes ok then they would release it to the carriers. At least that's how it usually goes. I've been keeping a close eye on sammobile for that to happen so hopefully soon.

Not necessarily - just because Sprint releases later than the international carriers doesn't mean that they receive it later. It's generally bad practice to openly treat some of your customers as guinea pigs for the benefit of the others, so it's more likely that Samsung sends out its generic rom to all carriers at the same time and Sprint just takes longer to add their proprietary bloat. It's also likely that Sprint waits to announce the upcoming version for the same reason xda devs don't do ETAs - because too many people take "estimate" to mean "promise" and get upset when delays happen.

It doesn't matter - either way brings us back to my original point, that Samsung's release dates are meaningless to us. We could get our update the next day, a year later, or never, with equal probability. The only useful deduction we can make from their release date is that we definitely *won't* see our update before that date, which really isn't very useful at all

After Google release the coming beta version of Android, i think N, then start expecting MM for Note 4.

I don't want MM.
Annoying permissions popups? No thanks.
Doze? Don't need it. I set my phone down on a wireless charger. It doesn't drain slowly, it charges.
Maybe after 8 months or more when they iron out all the issues, I'll consider it. By then, I'll probably have a new phone.
I hope to get the s7 edge sometime soon

This, and the fact that it hasn't really helped in the past.
The real customer to Samsung is Verizon. Not us. We are just Verizon's users of which wealth is to be extracted from.

First rule of purchasing a phone: buy it for the features it has, not the ones it might someday get. Otherwise you will be disappointed.
You knew the bootloader was locked down tight when you bought the phone. There is no chance in hell it is going to get unlocked. Deal with it. If an unlocked bootloader is that important to you you should have bought a Nexus.

Verizon Note 7 removing features

Droid Life just reported that the Verizon is removing the Device Maintenance and RAM management feature from the phone
Link?

No official article, just tweets. But looks like the screen is different too.

Thanks for the link. Personally, I'm not going to worry about it. Does it suck yea. Am I going to return my phone or or leave Verizon? *sign* No....
My screen seems fine. I'm it sure what all was removed, but i really don't see a point in it

No Samsung cloud either, unless I'm overlooking it.
Just gotta wait for that sweet, sweet N930U version to come out.
From what I have seen so far as well is the Verizon model is the only one that still has the old settings layout and not the new one like in all the advertisements.

Maybe we can get the apk unless root is required. I was really looking forward to this feature.
What does this mean in terms of usability? What actual features are removed? Can we still tailor the battery saving stuff?
I tried every work around I know of. It seems it's not just hidden, but in fact missing. Hope we can recover it from a different model...

That's not always the cure. The newer unlocked s7 versions are still on a May software version with not 1 update since its June 30 release. I had one and sold it.

Does anyone know if its working on the TMO model? I'll check out their forums. Has Samsung really initiated it out of the box? Their website is vague but mentions Note 7 although I read somewhere an update will include it.
I figured the August security update might include it but that was a no go. This is bull****

Note 7 recall update

So I'm sure you all know that the recall is official . If you are keeping note 7 like i am September 30 is the projected date when you will be able to trade it for the newer version. A side note maybe this explains why people are having poor battery life since the batteries were made by an outside source. Just curious as in who is keeping their note 7 and who is not. If you are not what are you gonna trade it in for ?

Sept 30th is the deadline for returns/exchanges period. I spoke with a couple of different Verizon reps and apparently Verizon doesn't know when they are getting new devices.

Yea I'd guess they have to wait and see how this whole supply chain is going to effectively launch a second time before telling us everything.
I'll be grabbing a new one, why not if you love the phone. Week or 2 less wear and tear. And if you didn't get black maybe there's a chance to remedy one more poor choice in your life.

The in regards to battery life: I turn off syncing on apps that I don't use daily, and email addresses I rarely use. This seems to have helped my battery life tremendously.
Is Verizon giving a gift card or credit? Would think that might make people exchange.
I have no issues and wonderful battery life.

Does this have something similar to Samsung Pay

in that it will also work in places where Apple and Google Pay do not?
No. Google pay is what you will have to use. Samsung pay is in another league... I doubt anyone else will be able to come close to it anytime soon.
