Did we lose all the steam we had? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Now that the Note 7 has launched, have all Devs given up working on the S7/S7E? Or is it just that we're at a standstill with no progress because its impossible?

The locked bootloader killed this phone. When I got it, I convinced myself that I no longer needed custom roms...I was wrong! My enthusiasm for this phone has died, something that didn't happen with the LG G3 it replaced right up to the moment I handed it to my son. The S7E is fine, but I regret its purchase every day. I probably should move on now, but I'm not sure which direction to take. I'm certainly done with Samsung and most likely Sprint. If I wanted boring, I could have joined the zombie herd and bought an iPhone.

Get the new Nexus when it cones out! This is why I have 2 phones - one Samsung flagship for the most cutting edge hardware and a Nexus for fast updates and tinkering.

Yea i feel u guys, I bought a nexus 6p and I love it. I still have my S7 edge but haven't touched it for about a month straight so I may as well sell it on Craigslist.

Are there no ROMS or development on the sprint gs7 edge?

Won't work on Sprint. A couple guys got it to work by flashing tmobile firmware via Odin only to discover that they can't roll back to Sprint firmware nor downgrade tmobile

Not only did Samsung shoot themselves in the foot with the explosive note 7's but the s7 edge is amazing hardware crippled by a locked bootloader and no dev support. Samsung phones are more and more tougher to crack. While I'll never in life use an iPhone again, I'm hoping the new Nexus at least supports sprints ****ty Network and or maybe sprint will carry it.

I wouldn't personally. An iPhone 5 on Craigslist is selling for around $400. A new S4 on Craigslist will cost around $540. Seems to me that if you want to get another S4 you will lose money on this deal.
Someone else offered me a 32gb iPhone 5 and 150$
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
you should....totally.....cause who wouldnt want a downgraded worthless paperweight of a phone instead of a new gs4? and then once you do the deal you can take that 150 you got from them and invest in an "im a dumbass" t-shirt.......

Lol, this just cracked me up. Seriously though, you shouldn't. You're asking an Android forum if you should trade your S4 for an iPhone. You know the answer you're going to get. Even if you took the second offer just to resell the iPhone, you're not making any profit unless you buy a cheaper device whatever it may be. Just no.

I say if you want an iPhone, go for it. I did the same trade (minus the money). But I was the one with an iPhone. Loving this s4.

nope
Not a chance. But i don't like iphone's and the S4 is just plain sexy
I'm going to do the 150$ and iPhone 5 because I'm going to get the S4 back again by trading it for A S4. When you switch to a different phone on sprint does the warranty and insurance switch to the new phone automatically?

Then just keep your current s4 rather than trying to go in a circle to make a quick buck. Because you might just run into a wall instead. It's harder to trade an iPhone 5 for an s4 than you think.

i was thinking about trading my s4 for the sprint htc one.. so i made a post on craigslist and like 5 people hit me up in a day!! now im stuck and dont kno what to do.. i like both phones.. the only reason im thinking of trading is because the one has way more development going for it.. and i love to flash roms/kernels.. i know this phone hasent been out for long but its deff goin rather slow.. all the other s4 carriers have way more roms then we do.. so i guess ill wait a few weeks to see if things pick up at all.. then ill make the trade.. look at verizion s4 thread!! boy i wish i had the verizon s4!

Hi! That's actually a good deal. apple devices do not depreciate right away. If you want you can do that and you can participate to the buyback program of sprint and get more! https://secure.sprintbuyback.com/cns/select regardless what carrier its from they will get it. $220 is the exact qoute.

I throw everything under the sun at it

I throw everything under the sun at it. I been working on getting the Verizon Note Edge rooted. I tryed every root tool out there. Even every CF autoroot. Verizon has this phone locked to the tee. Hope someone comes up with something soon. I even tryed ADB codes. Its a no go. So if you planing to buying the note edge with verizon and want root. You might be better off with sprint or t-mobile. Towelroot will not work with this phone. I even ripped that app apart to hack into it. To see what geohot did. That was no good also. Intil we get some really good dev's on this. This edge on verizon will never be rooted. Hopes this helps who ever plans on buying one..
i want and edge... can i use any other carrier with verizon and root it.. or can i buy a non carrier specific edge to work with verizon?

I been on the phone all week between Verizon and Samsung. Trying to get info on the developer edition and trying to throw FCC REGULATIONS laws at them. One rep hung up on me. Saying that Verizon don't care about the law. I am thinking about switching careers. Then taking Verizon to court for forcing contracts on people. That don't meet standards of the FCC. I spent 3 hours reading every regulations of the FCC. And how the block C works that Verizon bought back in 2007.

Ah screw it, I'll bite... I wish KK was still an option though. The fact that all of the originally advertised options are gone due to update, really sucks!! And the lack of xposed is apparent. I'd take KK over Lolli for this phone any day..
Why is KK not an option? I have seen no compelling reason to update to Lollipop, and unless one comes along, I won't.

So far everything seems smoother. Battery life seems about the same tho. No themes like S6, carrier aggregation has been enabled and new screen effect when turning on screen. It really bothers me that every other manufacturer upgrades their system ui except Samsung. They haven't done a ui update to latest TouchWiz since the S1 and S2. I hate that they get away with robbing us of new features on devices we paid $800+.. I've been a loyal Samsung guy, I own everything from their phones, watch, headphones and tvs but I dont think my next phone will be a Samsung. I'm ready to test the waters with LG when the G5 comes. Samsung is at a position where they feel they don't have to give us 100% and still get our money and it's not fair. Rant over, I really wanted themes smh...

They're getting reckless in a desperate attempt to get their momentum back. With every past Galaxy release they always increased their sales. It wasn't till the S4 that sales started lacking and that's what they get for saturating the market with 20 phones a year. That and the way they halfass their fanbase with these updates.. They cannibalize their own sales smh.

I'm glad to see sales skyrocketing with the note 5 in the us (at least it seems like it - I know a lot more note owners than I did a year ago) but leaving Europe out and releasing a plus sized S line device means the Note is not a priority for them.

The S pen is a lot heavier than you're giving credit for. They bake that into the OS. So it takes longer. Add into the fact that the Note line isn't their main flagship. Thus you wait longer.

Droid Life just reported that the Verizon is removing the Device Maintenance and RAM management feature from the phone

No official article, just tweets. But looks like the screen is different too.

Gotta love this

This is ridiculous. I will happily return the phone and buy from somewhere else. No need for this. And I can't believe Samsung still let's Verizon pull crap like this

Thanks for the link. Personally, I'm not going to worry about it. Does it suck yea. Am I going to return my phone or or leave Verizon? *sign* No....
My screen seems fine. I'm it sure what all was removed, but i really don't see a point in it

No Samsung cloud either, unless I'm overlooking it.
Just gotta wait for that sweet, sweet N930U version to come out.
From what I have seen so far as well is the Verizon model is the only one that still has the old settings layout and not the new one like in all the advertisements.

Maybe we can get the apk unless root is required. I was really looking forward to this feature.
What does this mean in terms of usability? What actual features are removed? Can we still tailor the battery saving stuff?
I tried every work around I know of. It seems it's not just hidden, but in fact missing. Hope we can recover it from a different model...

That's not always the cure. The newer unlocked s7 versions are still on a May software version with not 1 update since its June 30 release. I had one and sold it.

Does anyone know if its working on the TMO model? I'll check out their forums. Has Samsung really initiated it out of the box? Their website is vague but mentions Note 7 although I read somewhere an update will include it.
I figured the August security update might include it but that was a no go. This is bull****
