OTA to OE1 before root

My wife and I ported over to Verizon last week because AT&T coverage has not improved where we live for the last few years. We both got "G900Vs" from a local reseller. My phone came with OC4 installed and my wife's phone came with NI2 installed. I haven't heeded the persistent nag to update my phone from OC4 OTA to presumably OE1 for fears of not being able to go back to to a previous version to root without tripping the Knox flag. OK I'll wait 'til I'm ready to root OC4. I decided to take the plunge with my wife's phone nag a few days ago and to my surprise it only updated to NK7. Figured I bought some time there. After that update on my wife's phone the nag returned with a invite to upgrade to 5.0 (lollipop). When I hit the "Learn more online" link it said the update would be to OC4 so I opted for it tonight. Well after going through the update to what I thought would be OC4 on my wife's phone it's still showing NK7 for the Build number and the nag is back, however, as is the same on my phone, tapping "Learn more online" no longer shows what the next update will be but only links to PDFs with generic info. Is there something nefarious going on? Is Verizon trying to trap us into OE1? Can we ever get root if we heed the nag and hit "Install now"?

VZ update rolling out now.

I just got the notice for the VZ S7 Edge official update.
Downloading it now.
update -Darn it! It's just the October security patches. No Nougat yet.

Official Android 7.0 won't come until after they test the beta for a month or so...the update you got was a monthly security update PI3. Anything after the PH1 update (update prior to PI3), you won't be able to flash the beta (either via official method or using ODIN unofficially). It'll error. I would be shocked if official Android 7.0 would come before year's end, however, anything's possible I suppose...

No root hotspot works on nougat & heres how to make it work because sprint patches it

This is what I did to get hotspot working!!! Long story short I was on a NOT ROOTED android 6.0 PGH or something like that signed up for samsung beta and took the 1st beta update which is android 7.0 version PKC and everything was working buttery smooth and then there was another beta ota update which is android 7.0 version PKK and when I took that update sprint actually patched the hotspot trick (rebooting phone to quickly turning on the hotspot) and btw im the one that originally discovered that trick when sprint grayed out the editing of APNs and I actually discovered that hotspot trick by complete mistake and frustration not going to lie lmaooo if you check that hotspot thread for the s7 edge youll see my post on that so yall welcomes lol anyways sprint patched the hotspot trick on version PKK so I found something on google where you can downgrade your android version using samsungs smartswitch for pc NOT THE ONE IN THE PLAYSTORE just google smartswitch for pc and link should pop up..I was able to downgrade my android version 7.0 using smartswitch back to 6.0 but the hotspot trick was still patched for whatever reason. I went into setting information about me about phone and it was the android version and baseband that I was originally on before I took the 1st beta update but hotspot didnt work..so I was pissed as hell and was like sprint finally got me after tethering their services for free since the OG htc evo first came out LOL..so I was like I'll update to nougat and call at&t in the morning to have them install a modem into my apartment. However I signed up for samsung beta a second time and took the 1st beta update and trying out my luck I tested the hotspot trick and it works!!!??? so when you take that 1st beta update I guess you have to stay on it to continue using hotspot because PKK patches it and if your already on PKK just get smartswitch for pc and do what I did..yall welcomes and be blessed peoples and sorry for the long rant lol AND PLEASE HIT THAT THANKS METER???

Not that useful cause you need to leave the Beta and risk losing your nougat firmware. Only way I'd try this is if I was desperate for hotspot. Thanks anyway.
Yeah im running a beta nougat and its not the official firmware but who says I have to leave beta if its running buttery smooth on my device therefore I'd be losing nothing??

Has anyone received this update? My wife just got it tonight, and she INSTANTLY accepted it. I can't find a single reference to it and I'm a little nervous about the nature of it. Can anyone confirm that this is a legitimate version of the software?
Received last night, everything works as usual, security patch level March 1st
Also Received
I also received however, mine has Android security patch level 2/1/2017. Just letting you know your wife's not alone in getting the patch.
Its April and there sending out a February Security Patch, epic fail. LMAO LG
just keep in mind that this DOES patch dirtycow so no root will be possible.
Possible to revert to original?
Even though this blocks rooting, would it be possible to revert to an older update that is still rootable?

No because there is no KDZ for an older version.

moto g4 play issues

Yes, I do know I have created about a million forums on this. So now it's being merged into one. I going to list my problems.
1. June 23, 2017 was the date I rooted my device. It was a summer day, at home, with fastboot, and TWRP.
2. October 10, 2017 was the date I regretted rooting my device when I got an OTA update. After trying on this day for hours to finally get unrooted, then get the stock ROM. After all of this, I had missed the OTA.
3. November 22, 2017 (today) I still haven't gotten a OTA update notification. I have been checking every day and trying every method, and still, no OTA.
Now what I need: How to get the XT1607 recovery back, and get the OTA update back. I am still on the February Security update.
Help, please.

I don't have an answer but wonder if the incremental OTA (which is definitely not Android 7.1) has sufficient benefits to warrant the effort. Yep, several security oriented patches but the exposures are small for most (albeit not all).
