No root hotspot works on nougat & heres how to make it work because sprint patches it
This is what I did to get hotspot working!!! Long story short I was on a NOT ROOTED android 6.0 PGH or something like that signed up for samsung beta and took the 1st beta update which is android 7.0 version PKC and everything was working buttery smooth and then there was another beta ota update which is android 7.0 version PKK and when I took that update sprint actually patched the hotspot trick (rebooting phone to quickly turning on the hotspot) and btw im the one that originally discovered that trick when sprint grayed out the editing of APNs and I actually discovered that hotspot trick by complete mistake and frustration not going to lie lmaooo if you check that hotspot thread for the s7 edge youll see my post on that so yall welcomes lol anyways sprint patched the hotspot trick on version PKK so I found something on google where you can downgrade your android version using samsungs smartswitch for pc NOT THE ONE IN THE PLAYSTORE just google smartswitch for pc and link should pop up..I was able to downgrade my android version 7.0 using smartswitch back to 6.0 but the hotspot trick was still patched for whatever reason. I went into setting information about me about phone and it was the android version and baseband that I was originally on before I took the 1st beta update but hotspot didnt work..so I was pissed as hell and was like sprint finally got me after tethering their services for free since the OG htc evo first came out LOL..so I was like I'll update to nougat and call at&t in the morning to have them install a modem into my apartment. However I signed up for samsung beta a second time and took the 1st beta update and trying out my luck I tested the hotspot trick and it works!!!??? so when you take that 1st beta update I guess you have to stay on it to continue using hotspot because PKK patches it and if your already on PKK just get smartswitch for pc and do what I did..yall welcomes and be blessed peoples and sorry for the long rant lol AND PLEASE HIT THAT THANKS METER???

Not that useful cause you need to leave the Beta and risk losing your nougat firmware. Only way I'd try this is if I was desperate for hotspot. Thanks anyway.

Yeah im running a beta nougat and its not the official firmware but who says I have to leave beta if its running buttery smooth on my device therefore I'd be losing nothing??

Still haven't gotten the Gingerbread update

It's almost the end of June and I still haven't had the Gingerbread update pushed to my Droid Pro. Does anyone know if this update still has additional rollout waves? Perhaps my company has control over when the update is pushed out, once it completes its own internal security tests? Either way I'd rather not flash my phone manually as I've never found the need to root, and I'd rather do an in-place upgrade that retains all my apps/settings.
No update here either :/ I'd much rather have the official GB update than the one that requires root
Good to know I'm not the only one at least
There is no final Gingerbread for Droid Pro for now (27.06.2011)
To make the story short - there has been no final Gingerbread for Droid Pro yet. Check the thread below to read more:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094588&page=7
The version from this thread does not require root - it's a Motorola beta version that was released to a small amount of people.
Yea ive heard it was just a test release. Only small amount of phones got updated
Thanks for the info. Not having the latest software always makes me antsy, but in this case it's okay since it's not publicly available
I got the update last night sometime. I woke up at 3am to let the dog out and saw my phone had it waiting. Half asleep i accepted the update....
I wake up later pissed because im rooted and now im stuck in limbo again (this happened once during the last update sent out). Now I have to reflash my phone back to a previous stock OS and then reaccept the new updates.. yay lol
ok so i flashed back with an earlier SBF file and updated back to where i was before the GB update. Now i go to about phone and search for update and the GB update is not showing up

Update from build NBD90M to NBD90X

Hi everyone, how can I update from my currently build NBD90M to the last one NBD90X? (On Android 7 release in August I agreed to beta program and then deleted my registration)
Thankss
Wouldn't be in a hurry, my phone can only make emergency calls, nit sure if this is the reason it it happened after I updated the software.
You should've gotten an OTA, but you can also download the official OTA from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
My connectivity issue has been resolved, Meteor blocked my phone as I made one or two "long duration calls" from Morocco to Ireland, after which I reverted back to a Meditel sim until I left Morocco, it took a week to resolve the issue online as I could only make emergency calls, what a shower of twats letting me in the lurch like that, I pay by direct debit monthly and have never defaulted with a payment, shower of muppets.
Download the OTA package referenced above.
The follow the pinned forum post on how to apply a full OTA package...
Then load the package you downloaded.
I was in the same boat as you and thats what I did... no lost data or anything.
I can't find the pinned forum sorry or not sure is the right one, can you post the link please?
I can also provide a data point. I enrolled in the beta program initially when Nougat was announced, so that I could get the stable version of 7.0 quicker before the OTA was released via my carrier (T-Mobile). Then after I got the software update notification for build NRD90U and installed it, I unenrolled from the beta program. But I didn't get any OTA for build NBD90X, because I guess it's still 7.0.
I wanted NBD90X though because that's one of the build numbers for 6P that's listed as working to get the Google Assistant on my phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-how-to-enable-google-assistant-t3477879). So I downloaded the OTA build NBD90X from the google developer website as mentioned above, and sideloaded it using ADB. It worked well for me and didn't wipe my user data or anything. Although I did lose data when I had to unlock the bootloader as part of getting the Google Assistant though .

Honor USA: EMUI 5.0 is officially rolling out starting on Feb 11th

Just for the purpose of tracking the rolling out process in the north America region, let's try collecting some date information when you receive the rollout. The process of this upgrade could become a helpful guideline for future upgrade events in the region! Models L04 and L14 might be involved. So far it seems that only T-Mobile users are getting the update. Just tried to update my Mom's phone, we are on Cricket (AT&T) and there was no update for her. Tried putting it on airplane and restarting but still nothing. I'll probably try again tomorrow.

There is one entry reporting received the update while on Straight Talk. We need to have more data in order to figure out the rollout sequence. GOOD LUCK!

Did not get the update (FRD - L04)
But I forgot whether or not the L04 is international or US (i live in the US though)
yeah i havent gotten it either still says no updates available
I haven't received the update either on L04. I read on the other thread that it rolls out in small batches.
Edit: Here's the post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70964112&postcount=392
Nothing on L04 AT&T yet. Purchased from NewEgg and first activated in December.
Got it 3 weeks ago. L04 from b&h.
Bought it unlocked at Frys a week ago and received the update yesterday. I just want to caution all rooted and unlocked users! I received the update yesterday and upgraded it like a fool. I cant get into twrp recovery and the stock recovery seems to be broken. I even installed a newer twrp thru fastboot but im still not able to go into recovery. Im looking through all the forums but no one seems to have this problems yet. Im still waiting on some help if anyone has a solution. So please be aware before updating. Hopefully Im the only one with this problem.

Ahh, I was an idiot and had the same thing.
What happened is that I was rooted, and installed via Charles app, and it bugged out.
The reason for that is that TWRP can't install the stock ROM.
You need to get into fastboot, and reflash the stock recovery, and use it to dload the emui 4.1 file. Make sure you get the full package version.
After that it will be all wiped. You might run into a few errors but let the recovery do its thing.
You'll eventually be able to boot into the OS and then run the update normally.
I want to root my honor 8 on nougat, but I'm waiting for a patch from Huawei first because of all the bugs, just because of this.
Also I don't think rooting the honour 8 on nougat works that we'll yet, hopefully someone comes up with a method that doesn't suck so hard.
Hopefully they'll do it quickly.
Do you mind pointing me to the right direction to find those files? stock recovery and the 4.1.
Ive seen the rollback files... is that what you're talking about?

I used the firmware finder tool for it. You can get it for Windows. It's somewhere around the forum, but you can probably Google it.
Once you get the full package you can extract the recovery.img from it.
Unlocked FRD-L04 bought from Amazon. Living in Argentina. Got update yesterday. Really happy with it.
Folks, if you are impatient, you can use the Firmware Finder to send the Firmware B360 (I am using the Jan 3 one) to your Updater for a full package update. More information can be found at https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/news-huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3550882
A few notes here from my personal experience:
1. Once you set up the proxy from the Finder's proxy app which should be downloaded after you enabled the "send firmware to updater" (check notification afterward), you then click on the latest firmware # and "send firmware to updater".
2. On the Setting/Updater, click the menu and use "Download full update package", which should direct you to a 2.27Gb package (not the 1.28Gb package, or you will not be able to login!) and click on the "Quick update" button. You may need to wait for a while to see this option. Up to now, you may not be able to download anything yet.
3. Go back to the wifi setting and turn on proxy setting to "None" again and reconnect with the wifi network. Now you should pause the Updater and then resume it. You should now be able to download the full package and install it.
4. After all the update process, it could be helpful to charge your phone without the screen turning on. This is told to be useful to optimize the battery performance immediately after the update. The phone might be slow in a couple of hours as optimizations are going on in the background. But everything will become normal afterward
Good luck!
bought L04 from newegg using it in Pakistan no update for me as of yet
This is all bulls*it. Same update we got in january, and by the way, it's buggy.
L04 here, bought from Amazon about a month ago. Running on T-Mobile US. Still no update yet.
Is there any way to change the white notification background? I prefer the old color scheme, Mich easier on the eyes at night.
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk
Edit: Received update on US single SIM L04 on Straight Talk, ATT towers.

few questions

I am traveling this weekend. I need to get hotspot working before then. My phone is all stock. Im no stranger to fastboot and adb. I just haven't needed to root or anything since hotspot worked for me out of the box. Since last update Google must have blocked it. I am on 8.1.0. I want to know, I have looked a bit here and info is a little scattered. I would like to the P but to have that and have stock I need to root to get to build prop correct? Or I can downgrade correct? If I downgrade, is there a way to keep changes and upgrade up to P? Thanks in advance!
No issues with hotspot on mine 8.1 witu may security update. Its more likely that your carrier has you provisioned wrong or blocks hotspot

Android 8 Oreo Update

Maybe because the Sprint Oreo will be using BLv6 so its 2 numbers behind everyone else? lol ... anyone have any thoughts about what the BL-version could possibly be for the Sprint Oreo? ... could they or would they use a BLv4 like everyone else?
that was the Sprint answer

If anything, they would change it to v7. Maybe they are waiting for a merger, which could happen next week
I checked for update today and got 1627.64mb g930pvpu6cre7 Samsung experience 9.0 with oreo.
I haven't gotten an update from Sprint on my S7 since December 2016. I am still on some random Nougat beta version.
I thought a brand new firmware update to Oreo would reset whatever bug was in there causing this, but it looks like one person in my house got the Oreo update and mine is still saying I am up to date when I check manually.
Is there no longer an ODIN for macOS? I thought there was one, but I used it on another Mac maybe 4 years ago when I was on my S3 and rooting it. Doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Just received oreo on my s7 for boost. So far I'm not impressed. I was really hoping for Dolby on this but guess not. The build number is SMG930PVPU6CRE7

On Mac you can use Heimdall to flash the latest Nougat firmware then update through OTA to Oreo. Because there isn't any firmware file yet on Updato or Sammobile.
i manfully updated @ 4:15. they sent it @ 1627.64 mb. still downloading. when I got my att update I tried all the batch root methods for my 935a. saving magisk for last bc I didn't have the boot.img for the cre4 update.
I I only had the "att beta" update from March. long story short it won't boot with the nougat eng.boot. I gave it an hour. I cleared the cache, factory reset, tried to add flash all of the earlier img files I had for oreo, nothing worked. had to flash it back to nougat bra1. I immediately requested the update again. they approved. the next day I attempted to flash magisk 16.4. w/ the modified odin 3.1.3 version. it wouldn't flash. with the cre4 boot.tar in hand, I tried every method on gods green earth to gain some sort of r/w access. it was late, I was tired, I flashed the eng boot. once again it was stuck at the Samsung boot logo. it wouldn't allow me into recovery to push the cre4 update zip. once again I'm back to bra1 nougat. I booted into recovery & updated it from the sd card. when it booted I noticed it wasn't anywhere as clean & polished as the ota I had twice. I've flashed back to brd1 ten times, & requested the ota. after smart switch, I used all the avail windows software I could acquire & kept trying, they won't send it. but they did provide me with a new picture for my samsung account. I'll post it later. gotta check out this 930p oreo.

I don't think Heimdall works on High Sierra or even Sierra anymore.
I'm wanting to move to a SM-930U version of stock android on my 930P. But in struggling to do so for the past couple of weeks I finally figured out that sprint as updated the bootloader to version 5 and most of the firmware images for 930U are version 4 (android 7 nugut). (PU4 vs PU5) which results in a Odin fuse error.
The phone is currently nagging me to go from PU5BQL1 to BU6BRD2. If I understand the nameing convention that would move me to version 6 of the bootloader.
What are the odds I can move to oreo for 930U and avoid the bootloader fuse issue? I think I also understand that as of this posting date a 930U oreo firmware has not been released?

almost zero... asuming that Oreo for "U" Variants step up with BL on this month maybe next one, is something pausible but stepping up two versions in any short time is questionable... but who knows. The best you can do is wait this or the next month for BL update on U variants.
To be clear I'm still on version 5. I will continue to put off the upgrade to 6.
