So now that its official. What will you be doing? I'm a bit disappointed in this I really love my Note7 but oh well I get to keep the SD Card, I am planning to return tho why?
1 Value of phone will drop

Samsung just updated promo on their website and is now offering a FREE fire extinguisher with every Note 7
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk

I'll exchange once T-Mo get's the replacement units in stock. I will not send this one back until I have a new one in hand.

I'm going to do my favorite thing... nothing. Maybe avoid charging the phone with a third party charger while in my pocket. ?

^^^ Probably true, and with only an estimated 24 in a million having the battery issue, this is a much greater risk.
Wait a few months and nick a factory refurbished device for a fraction of the price. There will be lots of them.

Yup! It's a bad situation overall for all of us owners of a Note7. :crying:
And yes!! true that!

After some deliberation, I'm going to take advantage of the exchange. Chances are, I'll probably JUMP to a newer device before it's paid off, but could you imagine trying to sell the first generation Note 7? I'm very impressed with Samsung for being so proactive about this. I agree that there is a 99.9% chance of this being a non-issue, but why risk it.

Oh, sorry, that was theoretical...it would presumably be the Note 8 next year or something nicer in the future. I came from a Note 4 and did not use JUMP for the Note 5 due to not supporting the SD card.

Im sure there will be sales on black friday and close to Christmas. The risk of waiting though is that if you are interested in rooting/safe strap, there may be an ota between now and then that could block the current exploits.
I'd wait for the developer edition.
Logically speaking it's like a stock...reading through the thread it's just a matter of time to get the bootloader unlocked. .it's been done before it's gonna be done again. ..why wait to pay a higher price for pretty much the same device that's likely going to be unlocked in no time..

I would put the odds of a bootloader unlock on this device at extremely slim to none.
You can get it price matched at Best Buy on Newegg.com's price ($229 for new lines/$259 for upgrades). That's a pretty good discount.
Go ahead and buy it now if you want Root. If you're not planning on Rooting your phone then you can afford to wait a little. Remember this though, the longer you wait, the longer you delay from experiencing all this Note 3 goodness!!!
I am waiting for prices to come down.

So you will get your phone two to three months later or not just to save like 100 bucks? If you're buying on contract, the difference between 200 dollars and 300 dollars is 4 dollars a month. Might add well have it sooner instead of later

Will the N6 have sales and price drops like the Moto X?

Personally, I'm leaning toward yes on this question given the history of the Galaxy Nexus. However, I wanted to get the thoughts of others here on the forums. I really want to wait, but I'm finding it hard.

Well the gnex started at $649 and eventually went to $399 on the play store. The n4 and the n5 started even lower than that at $299 and $349 respectively. There is a big difference. I'm not saying you are wrong, just trying to get us to consider all the facts.

Nope, the same treatment will be needed for all previous Nexus, which Google ACTUALLY does, but not carrier-oriented procedure.
But taking in mind that the Nexus 5 will be the first on be more than a full year on the market, the drop of price will definitely go for it first than anything.
I doubt it will have price drops this year, i have been in contact with a supplier and he says its a premium price with those specs, motorola has been strict with specific details till november.

Thats why google is charging and arm and a leg for it? lol YOu mean to tell me they would have sold it at this price with they had just came out with the same similar spec as N5?
Google will NOT make it cheaper. Third party sellers is another thing
If specs are nothing in the android world, you my dear friend need to go get an iphone. Thats why people are crying because Note 4 nor S5 is 4gb of ram. Thats why people are crying cause G3 is 801 not 805. Thats why people are crying cause the huge Note 4 is not BIGGER or the z3 is not BIGGER.
Just because specs to you are nothing, does not mean how the rest of the android users feel
The op wait 6 months, he will find it else were cheaper, even on swapper cheaper...but he sure as well wont get it from google cheaper
Wait a couple of months. A lot of people with will use their $200 upgrade and flip the phone on EBay for $500 to $550. You can find a brand new LG G3 for $400 on EBay and that phone hasn't been out that long.

The fact that it has high end specs mean nothing when it comes to phone holding value over time. Google will never drop the price via the playstore but as the previous guy said, many users who will get it via contract subsidy for $200, will sell it for $550 new on ebay.

There is a risk that the phone you buy is blacklisted. I normally check the person's feedback and look at their EBay rating. Most people that have a long history of selling stuff on EBay want be looking to scam you.

Even when i was able to eventually get a add to cart button, the price still showed $399 which is neither 50% off or $50 off. Clicking Add to Cart button did nothing for awhile and outputted the following error message:

Don't get me wrong. I love my SD card. But with a 128gb phone, I think its doable to me personally. I current have a note 4 with 128gb SD card. Definitely don't have it maxed out. But I could see if someone had a bunch of movies it would be. Really you are losing 32gb with the note 5. I think I can handle that. If it was just 64gb I would be completely out.
Edit: Guess you will lose more than 32gb one you take in account the amount needed for the OS...

Last yr when the note 4 launched, with an upgrade, and handing in my old eVo 4g lte, It cost $100+ tax and activation. 2 weeks later picked up a 128 gb card on eBay for $110. So maybe around $250 for a 160 gb note 4 fully feature packed. Everyone this yr should just keep their note 4 or go get one if they don't.

You'd pay $1000 for a phone? You're crazy. You are the type of person Samsung loves.
I would gladly pay and extra $7 a month for a phone that I thoroughly enjoy than pay $7 less a month for a phone I consider meh... Just me though. If you wouldn't I don't hate you for it Lol.
An update on the article at The Verge says Samsung made an error putting the 128 up and that it was being removed because they are not being offered. So I'm out.
I was anxiously waiting to replace my Note 3 with 32+128, but there's no way I can get by with just 64. Bummer. It's a sweet phone in everything other respect.

I'm not planning to get one, but I have to say that if I had all the money in the world, I'd get several. Of course, if I had all the money in the world, Samsung wouldn't have any money to produce them.
I always buy the most storage option, I use it. Especially on the Note, use it for work and use, save & sign documents. Not only that but if U sell it the phone will be worth the most. (If that matters)
Hope that it's ok now

Who's going to jump the note 7 boat?

Looks like all carriers are accepting replacement Note 7s. I see sprint will exchange it for another phone, but what about a full refund instead? I guess we will see how this turns out. At this point, I am ready to return the phone and get my note 5 out to be used. Will you be staying with the Note 7?
I'm like you. Waiting to see how it turns out. I still have my Note 5 too. I don't need a replacement phone. Just a refund if that turns out to be the case. I think I'll wait for the 'next big thing' before I get another 7. We'll see.

Maybe but for me the problem with the note 5 is no expandable storage. While the s7 and s7e has no spen.

same here.
Anyways, Samsung has announced to all owners advising them to shut off their Note 7s.
I hope the decision of refunds comes next.

Plus i have a perfectly good note 4. Hard to rationalize paying
Soo much money for an old phone i am not happy. I love my note. I have owed notes since they started. I need the big screen.
Im sooo unhappy right now. Going to hold off on returning till we fibs out what is going on. Id rather use this till they fix the problem or offer me a note 8 or maybe an s8. Not paying nig nucks for an almost yr old phone in the s7

If you purchased the VR from sprint they will take it back and refund it.

Ya, one of my biggest concerns in staying with note 7, even after 2nd recall, is the resale value.

there is no resale value, it's illegal to sell it now that it's officially recalled.
keep it forever or trade it in to Sprint.

I'm with you sir. I've returned my Note 7 for full credit on my account. No more Samsung for me. They can keep their locked bootloaders, I don't feel like playing their cat and mouse game anymore. Going to take a good hard look at the v20 and Pixel. Let's hope they are more dev friendly!
