Fix for VOLTE Marshmallow MIUI - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Last night one of my friend told me about this. So i tried and found it working. All credits to him for discovering this, i am just sharing.
HIS MIUI TOPIC IS HERE Go and support him.
He has posted fastboot method there that is a bit simpler, use that if you like. Here i have posted recovery flash-able zip.
Things required:
1. Redmi note 3 with bootloader unlock and TWRP recovery
2. Any Marshmallow MIUI rom
3. Firmware zip
Steps:
1. Unlock bootloader officially/unofficially and flash twrp by fastboot.
2. Download the firmware zip and rom and place them in internal/external sd.
3. Flash the firmware zip first and then the rom.
4. Reboot.

Put your phone in fastboot mode, then connect your device and Run Flash.bat
BTW: As per the original posted: This will work on MIUI ROMS tested in Beta MM version, EPIC MM and Ported MM from Kate, and I guess this should work on AOSP roms since the modem files are from AOSP base, this fix won't work with CM13 ROMS since the base is different and we are working on it to fix, so stay tuned!!

Is this working with slim aosp based rom

Not working for me...
I flashed firmware.zip then rom and then lazyflasher zip to decrypt boot.img without wiping anything

This will not work. Firmware files aren't same from original zip files in MIUI Forum thread and as you can see, only needed to flash Modem + DSP file and not entire firmware-update folder. To get this fix working you need 5.1.1 Modem and my modded adspso.bin. Raaj52 said that this files are from 6.0 AOSP but if you look into new replies, he said this is 5.1.1 modem and I modded adspso.bin file to get working 5.1.1 Modem in 6.0.1 without fluence and video recording issues.

[BASE/STOCK][TW][LP][T800/T805/T700] Stock TWRP/FlashFire ROM Bases

Since I had some time to run this through archikitchen, why not share it asweell? I present you an flashable custom rom that is unmodifed! This is from the latest firmware from samsung. Not special. These are ROMs that can be flashed in TWRP or FlashFire. It can be used to update your device, used for FlashFire to update to lollipop whilst keeping root (be sure to inject root in FlashFire), or just get back to stock with TWRP. Of course, you need an lollipop bootloader if you haven't gotten it already in order for these ROMs to boot correctly.
---------------------------------------------
Features
NOT ROOTED!
-Full Rom with nothing removed!
-Based on Latest firmware
-Odexed! Some are deodexed
---------------------------------------------
Installation
NEEDS LATEST LOLLIPOP BOOTLOADER.
THEN FLASH IN TWRP THEN SUPERSU BETA ZIP
----------------------------------------------

Feel free to use this as your rom base! Please Please inorder to use this, you need to credit me! It took me a while to get this going.

5g fix incase you guys have problems!
---------------------------------------------
In order to get 5g wifi working I had to edit device/system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt changing "GB" to "ALL". Reboot then worked perfectly. Also just for fun I edited build.prop by replacing the "GB" in "ro.product.locale.region=GB" to "US". Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks! This is meant to be a base for devs to use. Since it took me ages to get one working. Users, its nothing special so its not really custom.

I meant what's the base of this base lol. What version is it? Does the 5ghz wifi band work (doesn't work with some non USA stock roms)? Either way, thanks for taking the time bro! Don't think most people appreciate how much time goes into stuff like this.

So which firmware version is this?
Just ran the latest T800 XAR (U.S) firmware through archikitchen. This one is untested so be sure to make a backup! OE2 base/firmware so I am unsure if any new bootloaders are needed. TWdetox uses OE4 so I'm pretty sure it should flash. For those who are still on KitKat, you need an lollipop bootloader.
T800 XAR BOE2 Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347760776
If everything works and flashes fine, Skyhigh kernel should work on this build.
All of these bases are basically like custom roms (ironrom, twdetox etc) but are unmodified or changed in anyway except making it flashable in twrp. Thanks!

You might need to install the latest firmware and not flash this. It happens when your bootloader isn't compatible with the zip ROM.

I tried Kurama's ROM as well. It worked surprisingly well except for no mobile data. I tried flashing louforgiveno's data fix with no luck. I can tell you that it did not like Xposed, either. This ROM looks like a S7 port.
At this point, I'm hoping that a qualified developer will pick up the mantle and bring Marshmallow goodness to our Verizon variant.

I think I've seen where the N910F factory Marshmallow has dropped.
I think the trouble with attracting developers to our phones is that in smartphone terms, these phones are old. Nevermind the fact that the hardware is still competitive with the newest devices. The other issue is that until recently, there were so few phones that could be modded.

Yes wanam separate from 5.1.x and 6.0.x I have read in kurama thread they tried flash xposed from marshmallow with no luck, so line is if you like tweaks and mods remain in a port 5.1.1 otherwise give a try to marshmallow but not xposed....but I'm sure in future wanam will figure it out,

So, if I am understanding this correctly, (theoretically ) I can take any 910f 5.1.1 rom, make the above changes and it should work on the verizon device? Even with them having a different baseband.. i.e. OC3 to our BPA1? Also, for those of us with the devices recently converted to DE.... this will not mess with the bootloader. ... right?
Hate to sound like a complete noob , but it's been a while since I have had an unlocked bootloader. Just being cautious.
Everything should work...and your bootloader will remain untouched.
Very cool. Will definitely trying some. I will advise of and results I find.
Thank you sir.

You need to use official Cyanogen recovery to flash stock images, you can flash back TWRP later if you want. But it will break automatic updating of OTAs in the future.

MiUI Firmware Files

Device: Kenzo
This firmware won't relock your bootloader
Both official & unofficial UBL able to use this firmware
Hello Guys,
After tried on several custom ROM -MM & N-, I realized that's we can use MiUI MM firmware on any custom ROM and those ROM will still worked like a charm.
Below firmware are the same firmware included at miui ROM, I just put the files without any changes. Just removed emmc_appsboot.mbn file to avoid relocked bootloader.
MiUI 6.11.3 firmware can be used for people which need efs backup from this firmware to be restored later on any custom ROM to gain volte feature without needed to flash full ROM using miflash.
MiUI 6.11.24 firmware, the same firmware provided at official CM14.1 thread. but, this one won't relock your bootloader.
Download:
MiUI 6.11.3 Firmware
MiUI 6.11.24 Firmware
I already tried both firmware on several custom ROM and everything work flawlessly on my phone.
Thanks.
new releases from 6.11.3 upwards dont contain emmc.appsboot.mbn, does that mean xiaomi made some changes with newer versions and wont relock BL any.ore if we already unlocked it?

I am thinking on to put on CM14 to my redmi note 3 pro kenzo 2GB.
it has been recommended to me:
-use normal XDA CM14, but then use RADON kernel.
questions: is this the best? is the firmware.zip still needed when using this?
another recommendation for me:
use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/miui-firmware-files-t3516487
because this will not re lock the phone?
what about this? is the radon kernel, and/or the Firmware.zip still needed for this?
unclear to me.
which is the BEST CM14 way for redmi note 3 pro kenzo 2gb?

use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/miui-firmware-files-t3516487
because this will not re lock the phone?
what about this? is the radon kernel, and/or the Firmware.zip still needed for this?
unclear to me.
which is the BEST CM14 way for redmi note 3 pro kenzo 2gb?
thx

my best way in term of custom rom flashing
1. firmware 6.11.24, only need to flash once. no need to reflashing as long as you didn't flash any other firmware. even you flash other custom rom, your firmware will remain untouch.
2. any custom rom, either MM or N
3. gapps
4. mods, any mods need to installed on your phone (i.e. SU app, kernel, sound mod, etc)
hope this clear for you
Please update link for 6.11.3 its not working

[Firmware] Updates and Info

Hello everyone.
Development of ROMs and mods for this awesome device is currently on fire. Threads are filled with enthusiastic fellas and different queries.
But one thing has become very repititive, that is, about the firmware.
First of all, read about what firmware is.
Firmware refers to the operating system that controls how a smartphone operates. It is called firmware rather than software to highlight the fact that it is so closely tied to the hardware of the device. Firmware updates are provided by a company to fix bugs or provide new functionality.
Firmware is also found in other electronic devices like remote, DVD players etc.
In case of Redmi Note 4, MIUI 8 is based upon Marshmallow and Nougat both. Some folks have got the stable update of MIUI 8 based on Nougat. When a person with MIUI based on Marshmallow installs Custom ROM based on Nougat, then he might face some problems like fingerprint sensor not working and network being poor. To avoid that, all the ROM developers have included a firmware zip in their respective posts which should be flashed before the ROM so as to avoid the various bugs. This firmware zip has the required blobs which are crucial for the interaction of the software with the hardware.
If you are already on a Beta release or stable release of MIUI based on Nougat, then you don't need to Flash the firmware file.
Now some random points to ponder:
1. If you are on any specific firmware version, you can Install a newer version anytime you want, provided you know the bugs or any hazard related to it from the source.
2. Firmware zip can be installed even after you have installed the ROM. Just reboot to TWRP>clear Dalvik and Cache>Install>Flash firmware zip>Reboot.
3. If you are already on any Nougat based ROM, you don't need to Flash firmware again, while you are free to do so, but you don't need to.
Now below are the links to some of the known versions of the firmware zip files.
1. Included in the Official AEX post:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634766008
2. Included in the Official Lineage OS post:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634766008
3. Included in the SlimROM post:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634766008
4. Extracted from Global Dev of MIUI 9:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx4Y-DsaLqEUQ1p4VnZxbW1fMjQ/view
So, this is all you need to know about the firmware thing. You just Install any of these above mentioned and you are good to go. As you can see both AEX, LOS and SlimROM posts include the same firmware, its clear its required for the transition only.
If you have any other query, feel free to drop a comment. Recommendations and improvements are very well welcome.
Nice.

Assuming you didn't Flash it before flashing the ROM, you can Flash the firmware now. Just download the one stated above. Reboot to TWRP>Clear Cache and Dalvik>Flash firmware>Reboot.
A clean flash is recommended though.
Report back.
