[Q]Huawei Honor Note 8 Forum? - Huawei Honor Note 8 Questions & Answers

Why is there no forum on XDA for Huawei Honor Note 8?! That phablet is 10x better than Honor 8 mid-ranger...

Because it was most likely not requested, check out my signature for a direct link for a forum request.

I didn't know that, and didn't want to know that, because I don't care about mid-range phones with small screens. If you want to ask about another phone, be that V8 or something else - post your own question as a separate thread. There is no need to hijack this thread to talk about another device, my thread was not meant for.

Your thread shouldn't even be here, this is the Honor 8 Flagship forum.

Honor 8 is not "flagship", from any angle you look at it. It is classified as a mid-ranger on most tech blogs out there, and rightfully so. It doesnt crack the top 10 phones in any specs category. Since Huawei Honor Note 8 forum does not exist as of the moment of writing - I think it's reasonably appropriate to post a question about it here. If moderators decide later on it does not belong - it could be moved to Honor Note 8 forum, once created.

Come on man, relax.. The dude is right, technically your thread should not even be here...but I choose to answer regardless without any form of negativity or any form of tension. Relax, simply redirect him to my response to yours...and we move on.
If anyone NEEDS to request a forum, posting in another device forum is technically not the best idea. All questions for new devices...whether "flagship" or not, should be directed here: Click Me
Let move along.

I already submitted forum request earlier...thanks for the tip though

It's not about specs, it's about price....300$ to 500$ is a mid-ranger, and any thing that exceedes 600$ is a flagship.

That is literally, the most ridiculous, outrageous and lunatic assertion I've heard anyone make on XDA in the past decade. I wouldn't even know where to begin to tell you how very very very very wrong you are!
If you don't get a meaning of "flagship device" - go read some Wikipedia or dictionary definition, I guess.
According to your logic, most real high end devices from a country like China, for example LeEco phones, which have 4-6GB RAM, latest Snapdragon chip (820 or 821), or phones from Xiaomi with similar specs, which never cost $600 or more for reasons, obvious to everyone but you, are mid-rangers? And ****ty devices with 5 year old specs, with either Georgio Armani logo on them, or made out of gold, or covered in 38 carats of diamonds, which cost anywhere from 10 grand to 150k, are flagships?!
Wow... Don't embarrass yourself in public, do some reading and self-education, learn about different economies, price inflations, developing world markets, etc. before making comments like that. Phone price has literally ZERO impact in determining, whether the device is flagship or not. It is true, that in many markets the opposite is correct - device, which is a flagship, is priced higher, than other devices from the same region. However, there is absolutely no connection/correlation whatsoever in the opposite direction - device's price does NOT have any impact on it's classification as high-end, low-end, mir-ranger or a flagship device.

hey friend, let them talk.
I just received my Huawei Honor Note 8 and it doesn't feel like a flagship. It feels more like a flagship - RAPER. My Xiaomi Note Pro looks like a potato next to it.
PS: I feel like insulting all other phone users around me when using this phone. It's just superb in almost every way.

And it costs half the price of other flagships, too... 5.3 million pre-orders can't be wrong - people know what they're investing in. Kirin955 chip is in the top 3 of all benchmark categories amongst all latest chips, and this is the only device in the world with 2k screen, which is bigger than 6.5". 4500mAh battery doesn't hurt either - you will find such battery size in less than a handful of devices worldwide.

Reported, as off-topic post. I have already previously asked very kindly - if you want to discuss another phone - make a thread for it. Do not hijack threads about other devices. I created this thread for Huawei Honor Note 8.

I am getting my Note 8 today (assuming DHL can find my place).
What's the best way to root it?

Congrats, and that's an excellent question! To answer it, hopefully admins here will create a forum for this phone, where devs and users could post verified rooting method. This article offers a rooting method, but it's unverified by anyone I know or XDA, so if you wanna try it - do it at your own risk and report the results back here.

Since this is related to the phone in topic...
Question: are these the same phone?

http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_note_8-8231.php
The differences from the one in gsmarena are the colors, front camera, and 4400mAh battery.
Also, can somebody upload somewhere photos taken by their own Huawei Honor Note 8's camera? Unmodified, straight from the camera, with EXIF please. Hopefully with variations like bright scene, dark scene, etc.
Thank you very much.

KingRoot doesn't work as not enough requests for root yet on this model.
An issue I am having if anyone can help is with Play Store. When installing a large application, PS always closes before its finished downloading. Smaller ones are fine. I've disabled the power saving options for PS etc.. Its a weird one and I don't have this problem with my other Huawei.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/07/odroid-a-tablet-fits-1366-x-768-res-on-a-10-inch-screen-dual-co/
First up is the delightfully dense 1366 x 768 resolution, a rare sight on a 10-inch display, followed by a transparent rear panel that bests anything out on the market right now in terms of sheer sex appeal, and then there are also two MicroSD slots, a HSPA+ modem, HDMI output, a USB 2.0 port, cameras on the front and rear, and a crazy 9000mAh battery. How all this is supposed to only cost $750, we don't know, but then we also don't know how to qualify to get one when it becomes available later this month. So many mysteries. Jump past the break for some hands-on and benchmarking video action.
That will only cost you $750 ....
Sure, this is still dev kit or something for dev only? Don't know if we can buy it later.
Just see that for your own viewing pleasure ... dream it ... and then look into your Xoom .... and think about the price you have paid for it.
... *speechless* ... (about the Xoom price)
Yeah, no Honeycomb ... not sure if it will have update ... or the spec is NOT compliant. Too bad.
Wait, isn't this a Xoom forum? This isn't a general tablet forum. Post this in a general forum or something, not a device specific one. This is no different than you posting this link in a forum for the Nexus One.
This product is a complete dev platform prototype system, nowhere anywhere near anything resembling consumer level sales.
What does this have to do with xoom?
This isn't a "look what I found on the internet" forum.
What's the resolution of our xooms?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
This highlights the cost of Xoom compare to other device.
Most people think Xoom is too expensive, but how expensive?
Some people want to know how low can the price go?
Then we need other device for comparison.
If you frequent visit into this forum, people often post COMPARISON.
Threads like "Which one to choose, Xoom or Galaxy Tab 10.1?".
There are tens threads like this here, do search.
So yeah, I could change the subject like that.
And btw, not only Xoom owners will go into this specific forum. But people who are thinking or planning to buy one.
People ask advice for comparison. Sometimes we learned that way.
"Don't go with that device because of <technical explanation>"
"Xoom has advantage because of <technical explanation>"
That helps, really helps to make up buying decision.
So yeah, this is for your information only.
If you cannot see that way, then sorry, that's you.
For MODs, feel free to delete, move this thread.

The thing is, different companies have different costs of components, R&D costs, marketing costs, target profit margin, etc. that all factor in to what they charge for a device. You can't just simply add up the cost of 1 processor, 1 stick of ram, etc. etc. and determine how much a piece of hardware should be sold for.
Not to mention that this other device isn't even a consumer device... like I said its a developer prototype being sold in very low quantities no doubt, no one here who is looking to buy a Xoom is comparing it to this in a buying decision. There really isn't much comparison to be made.
And just because its a tablet doesn't mean you should be just posting in a random tablet forum imo. Like I said, a general Android forum would be much more suitable.
Mods need to delete this un-xoom related post.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
This isn't much of a comparison, no honeycomb and the tablet looks like a brick. Not really in the same league, imo.
This is a reference platform. The design (or no design) is ugly, the thing is thick as hell, and there is no tablet UI on it. This thing is built for developers and other manufacturer as a hardware reference. Not intended to be a consumer product.

Water proofing technology: Liquipel

Hello people!
So far there have been mixed views about the SGS3. Initially I was a little let down. After thinking about it for sometime, I realized I had bought into the hype that Samsung themselves were responsible for, and that if I looked at it from a "Let's see the spec sheet" point of view, it was a great phone!
One of the features I was expecting was the new water repelling technology which was debuted as CES 2012 : Liquipel, and I thought it could warrant a discussion.
Although it can be applied on after the phone is bought (at a significant price), it is only available for US consumers.
Any thoughts on the technology? Alternatives? Am I the only one who was expecting something of this sort in a pwerful, flagship and moreover - expensive, next generation smartphone?
Cheers!

This would probably come at the cost of having no replaceable battery and microSD-slot, so I'd rather just get a waterproof case if I really need it to be waterproof.

the technology is not even a year old so i dont think mobile manufacturers will adopt earlier.lets hope we can get it separately for a cheap price
WooooooooW this is amazing
it's a shame that it's only available to US only
Thats really a great share. Hope this comes in India too.

Can I ask you why Samsung is responsible for overhyping their own product? I think it was the fans that totally overhyped it.

Rumors has it that the iPhone 5 is getting this. Also I think the Droid Razor MAXX has Moto's own waterproofing method used. Yeah, it's relatively new, but I would have expected the SGS3, what with it being the frontier of tech, to have such implements! But yeah... it is what it is.

I guess from Samsung's standpoint they were just advertising and in essence we tech enthusiasts were the cause of the overhyping. Although their adverts about "separating yourself from the sheep" and such just made already wild imaginations run all the more wilder! I guess I could've phrased the post better, but I wanted to get to the topic fairly quicker!
That's what made me really pull back and realize what a good phone it was at it's projected price-point (I'll save my final verdict when it's in my hands). It made me ask the question: What was I really expecting and what did we get, imagination aside?

I think they decided to act the exact same way as Apple, knowing how much hype Apple generates like this.
True, they're not directly culpable or anything, but now they're paying for it anyway. (Maybe not; it's too early to tell.)
As to the actual topic, I vowed that my next phone would be waterproof. Not sure how realistic that is, but yeah, waterproofing could've been a real improvement that the fans would've been satisfied with.
Hopefully, by next year (my likely time of upgrade), it would have become standard.

Samsung galaxy s series has matured enough to have its own launch event so nothing wrong about it. ITs the rumor mill which increased the hype, samsung never said it will have a bezeless screen + virtual buttons.(I was dreaming for both of those features after reading it from the net)
The term is hydrophobic ie water repellent. I already use a very hydrophobic coating. What you need is super hydrophobic which I assume is being shown in the vid. Tech been around for 3-4yrs

It takes about 15 minutes to do. My buddy took his S2 in and got it back within 30 minutes. Check and see if they're local. There's one near Long beach, CA. This way you won't have to send the phone in and be without it for several days. Not to mention saving on shipping.
Coming back to the GS3 side of things, I have seen the new ad and it says 'Shares the warmth of Nature', just after it shows people being splashed with water.
Tried to post the link for youtube, but since am a new member, can't!
But you can search for Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-i9300) TV Commercial on Youtube. It is about 30 seconds in.
While this rumour is being going on, I think this might lead people to get a bit excited and assume that the phone already comes with this.
---------- Post added at 03:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 PM ----------
Coming back to the post, though.
I believe the Liquipel would be a great product for the phone. However, I am concerned about the Waterproof claim they make. There are a lot of videos out there which show Liquipel failing, mainly because people dumped them in water, to test the claim out.
In those cases, the companies that the phones were bought from did not take any responsibility, and the consumer had to bear the costs themselves.

How do you think about Huawei and the promise for our Honor phones??

Hii to all Honor 8 owners
I am starting this topic couse every here and there I find in all of the threads
someone complain how the Huawei don't care and that they don't update
our phone in a good way or at least as promised.
So, the ones which are compain, they say like I paid the money for the phone
I want this or that and they are not satisfide with the phone couse it is an all around good
phone but you know, no xda support or something like it is a good value phone but
Huawei is bad and so on and so on.
Now I want this things to be discussed in this topic...
What do you think, will we get the android O update?
Why do you think Huawei is the one to be blamed?
Do you think they will not keep with the promise they gave to all Honor phones
and the 2 year software upgrade??
Are you dissapointed with this phone or just with Huawei??
Do you think you are not getting with this phone what you have paid for??
And lots of other stuff to be discussed in this topic and thread..
Now to give my opinion.
First I want to say I had a lot of smartphones
I was having from LG, Samsung, Sony and some other phones and now evan this Huawei
The first thing I notice is you guys complain in every xda thread the same and
not being real not for once for any phone
It goes like this
I will never again buy an Huawei or LG or Samsung or Sony or other phone like iPhone
I paid so much money but not getting the full software support, they just don't care about this phone
Then after like 7 days it goes like this is the worst phone I ever had.. do not buy that phone guys couse
it has an overheat issue when gaming..
It is not good for gaming at all
And so on and so on...
Well I must say that you guys always complain that you don't know how to buy your next phone
or you want it to be perfect for the money you paid.. so you are not real..
So lets be real just for once, how come evan an samsung s8+ owner after one or two weeks is
complaining about the phone?? And the usuall thing, I wont buy samsung no more!! LooOOooL
Dont you go and read about the phone what you are getting and what you will be paying for?
Dont you come over to xda to first ask for user experiance but after some time you come to
blaim some company for not giving updates like you DESIRE IT .. like every month.. regardless of
the REAL possibility to have such support??
I had so many phones wich not evan had what now the Honor 8 has.. I had phones wich had no
support not just from the manufacturer but also not on xda like couse my phone was in my region
with the bootloader locked with no possibility to unlock it ever!!
And I was stuck on what I get out of the box
So, long story short, why you guys always looking for the perfect one wich will have it all
like the best build the premium feel and the xda support and evan the support from the
manufacturer and then not getting it and come to blaim someone after like two weeks..
Can it just once be like.. I am satisfide with what I got??
My opinion you should be satisfide with the Honor 8
It has after like 10 months more then some more expansive phones
Not to evan say something about the premium feel and the build quality
So, lets discuss it now and here what you think overall of it.. not in every other topic..
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Posting this first will promote a better and more productive discussion.
BTW, the last time the Honor 8 FDR-L04/L14 were up-to-date with security patches was October 2016 when Huawei released B162 firmware. December security patch was released in February and that's the latest official we've got so far. Now the still to be released B385 update will bring us just up to March's patch.
I'm starting to see a pattern here now and is not good.
Hii @Dominikrod
Thanks for the link for the update policy
And yes it is not updated that fast.. like getting the march security in the late april or start of may
But is it really something to complain so much of it like some of users do?
What I want to say this is a very good phone not just for the price but it has right now more than some phones priced this much like the samsung A5 2016/2017 phones..
And I do belive that we will get not just the android O but also the needed support for it.. my opinion is it is like only 10 months on the marked and I think that Huawei is going to at some later point give the source code and needed support.. I am thinking thay just dont wont to give it all right at the very beginig of the phone.. so I always say the best is yet to come.. or It will be for me disapointed as some of you already are..
So I am still hoping
Thanks for your reply @Dominikrod. If what is actually going on is "the best possible" from Honor, then they are really bad at that.
People will always find something to complain about, but in this case, it is something that they (Honor) promised and they are not fulfilling. Imagine unboxing your phone and notice it have an inferior processor or half the RAM as announced. May be a little exaggerated, by I feel I'm not getting all that was promised.
I got this phone expecting to use great custom roms because of the XDA-Honor collaboration, which just seem like a scam from Honor by not releasing the kernel source.

Hii @fernandoarafat
And yes if it is the best possible wich is Huawei doing right now I think
it is still good enough but thats just my opinion
But yes I do see that this promise thing you all are saying made you all disappointed
in Huawei..
But nobody is saying if they ever gave a time limit like when they will be releasing anything
to the XDA community... all I hear is no more Huawei I wont be buying anymore phones from Huawei
or the other stuff you are disaappointed..
I just have an idea... like if Huawei had talked first with someone who was in charge from the XDA community..
And some of us ( as I know some developers ) were contacting Huawei..
Why don't we ask the ''someone'' from XDA community ( who made this agreement with Huawei )
to ask for all the Huawei owners here on XDA what is going on??
I think we should ask for what is promised and ask
for some answers or some time limit when some of things will happen.
Anybody more intrested?? Or maybe did anybody already spoke to someone
and has already some info regarding this??

Don't know if you remember this one but this is almost laughable!
This was Taylor speaking about their new Software Update Policy.
Taylor Wimberly, a customer acquisition manager at Huawei Technologies (which owns Honor), has even gone so far as to challenge other manufacturers to follow Honor's example. "I hope that by announcing this policy that we can change the industry for the better. Seriously, all OEMs should be doing this and I welcome them to join us."
I just tried to contact the XDA community
But after asking the things I was.. and hitting the red SEND button
to send my message to them.. well it just was sending and sending it forever..
So, I have saved the text in my notepad and will try later to send it
Or some other day..
If I succeed and if I get an answer I will report this back to all of you

Hi brljak83,
I'm not sure a 10 month-old phone counts as new device in this market, it's more of a passing one. The truth is that Huawei started quite nicely at the beginning but everything went down hill after November of last year. If you remember this phone was announced back in July/August and Huawei made all sort of PR stunts to convince prospect buyers that their product was the best choice in the $400 to $450 range, at least here in the USA market. I went ahead and bought for myself the $450 Honor 8 64GB at the beginning of that campaign. The Oneplus 3 was $399 at that time, but I wasn't happy with the way OnePlus treated OP2 and OPX owners, so I didn't wanted to do business with them anymore even though the OP3 was an amazing device for the price. Then OnePlus 3T happened and Huawei coudn't justify the overpriced H8 pricing strategy so retailers started discounting the Honor back in November. Some people may argue that H8 was not competing with the 5.5" screen phones but if you read carefully from the beginning that was their intention all alone. Actually some reviews I read compared it mostly with the OP3 and the Axon 7 since those phones are in the same price range or were.
Now mid May 2017, the OP3/3t and the Axon 7 64GB have Android 7.1.1 since April, plus both phones have been getting more frequent security update patches than the H8. And where are we? Still stuck with Android 7.0, December's Security Patch, battery drain issues and some old bugs that have not been fixed yet.
Now you tell me if Taylor Wimberly's August comment about other manufacturers should follow their example and commitment doesn't seem totally laughable.
What about this?

Hii
Thanks you for that link
I tried last night to contact the XDA community to get some answers
But it failed..
Thanks to you I got someone to contact regarding the partnership
When and if I get an answer I will post it and report it back to all of you
So that all of you will know what has been told to me
Thanks for the help :highfive:
No, I'm not happy.
I didn't buy this phone because of any xda partnership. I only found out about it after. Great!
I bought it because I liked Huawei devices, and despite EMUI being a pain sometimes, it had a lot of features that I did like.
What I did not expect was the endless amount of bugs and issues.
And now, I don't mind a few, it happens. I'm even happy we got an update to 7.0, even if they should have given us 7.1.
What I don't like is going MONTHS without a dime big patch.
Not to mention, due to "low sales", they're going to be pulling out of the US, so all of us will lose all support for our devices.
So no, forget it. I'm voting with my wallet and not buying another Huawei.
And you're right, everyone does say that. But I don't buy Samsung because of their terrible software and bloat. I don't buy LGs because of their bootlooping, and now I won't buy Huawei because of their piss poor support.
It's not about finding the "perfect phone" it's about finding a company that cares at least a little bit in fixing their bugs and meeting their commitments.
Which Huawei clearly isn't doing.
Hii @SolarisSixth
Well, it is your opinion for this phone and I do respect it..
But for me I am not bothered so much by some of the bugs.. And I have them too..
And what I would say to you as an advice from my own experiance becouse I had a lots of phones
like LG or Samsung or Sony or iPhone it is always the same story
Belive me always they say bad or week support I wont buy it again..
So you will have to choose your next phone wisely not to end disappointed again in the same way..
Do a lot of reading about your next phone couse otherwise you will end up again disappointed
Why
Couse it is by all of them the same way and the same treatment
The only thing what I know is for the very most expensive phones ( Flagships ) they get a bit more
treatment and a faster treatment couse it is the best company gives to the customers and it is
the phone that represents the company as the best one they have for that year.. and then you get
a bit better support for bugs and stuff.. couse they dont want to be bad by giving the most expensive one
wich should represent the best face of the company
So if money is not an issue for you and you already choose with your wallet then go for the
most expensive one and still if you get such a phone still be happy with what you get..

However, kernel source release, which Honor tells us will happen in the near future for the Honor 8

 There is a broad definition about "near future". Also, legally they HAVE to share kernel source, but who cares about the law anyway?
I have also a Honor 7. They stop supporting roughly 1 year after release. No source code, no Nougat update. I thought they improved something, but apparently no. What a sucker!
It's up to anyone to deal in whatever manner they see fit with Huawei/Honor false promises. What is not debatable is if it's fair to demand for those promises being kept.
I'm not expecting anything besides what the brand promised. And for that I cannot be pointed as being over-demanding or wanting the impossible.
I was afraid of ZTE Axon support but apparently they lead the game, a long with OP and Sony. And given the lottery regarding quality of components Huawei P10, it's just all a big red flag not to spend a cent with the brand.
For now, I will keep the H8 and milk it as much as I can, until I see fit to change. For another brand, obviously.
So here I am to report it back to all of you
This maybe some good news afterall..maybe
It is regarding the partnership with XDA and to give the source code to us.

Well, i bought this phone at the end of March, this year. I bought it for 329€ on Amazon, and for that price at this specs i think it'a a very good phone, also considering that other similar phones costs even double this price sometimes. Afrer this i tried the phone and i just love it now. Fast, superb fingerprint sensor, good camera, good in gaming etc. The only thing i complain for is the GPU, could be better... However, talking about the software and updates, i think that we will get at least 7.1.1 (if Honor respect their promises). I'm not just talking however, i got in touch with Honor USA on Twitter and that's what they told me:
http://imgur.com/a/OSmLv Screen 1
http://imgur.com/a/RBBFb Screen 2
Ps. The first screen is from a pic that i saw on internet, related to another conversation with Honor USA (not mine). I just sent them this pic and tried to get a confirm from them...wich in the 50% maybe they gave me. Now i don't know if they will relase Android 7.1.1 with EMUI 5.1 someday, but i hope to see it. No hopes for Android O however...
What do you think?

A Pretty Compelling Reason To Remain Or Return To Stock

Guys & Gals.. Get Your Popcorn...
Good Times are close at hand for HONOR 7X owners ready to recieve the OTA...
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-oreo-emui-8-pro-9i-7x/
Here's hoping..
I'm New To Honor..
And I must say.. I'm impressed with the way that they handle their business.
After reading this quote from a View 10 article here on XDA.. I see that the Huawel / Honor Managemnt, R&D and Marketing divisons are really working towards catering to the Development Community.. More than I've seen in recent memeory in this age of "Lock Down This" and "No Signature Keys For That" era.. With Oreo & Project Treble and FULL ENCOURAGEMENT from this company in regards to Customizing each users experience to whatever level they disire.. This Says A Lot about their target market... (Huawei / Honor: It would not hurt to do this with the 7X either.. :good: )
Here's the quote:
“We are opening the AI source and bootloaders for the Honor View 10 to developers to be able to have access not only the AI APIs, but also root and give the opportunity ROMs,” an Honor spokesperson wrote in a post on the XDA Forums. “We want to see what some of you can do by having access to our AI ecosystem.”
What’s more, Huawei also said that it’ll supply 1,000 developers with Honor View 10 units to get popular custom ROM developers off the races, and that it’s already in contact with the Paranoid Android and LineageOS teams. If you’re a developer and interested in nabbing a phone for yourself, you can apply for one here. Alternatively, Huawei’s taking nominations for developers in the official announcement thread.
The Honor Open Source Program for the Honor View 10’s pegged for a late January 2018 rollout, and it’ll be exciting to see what comes of it. With access to Huawei’s open AI ecosystem, there’s no telling what exciting applications and ROMs developers will make.
Thanks a lot
How exactly do I return to stock. The only thing I've done so far is unlock the boot loader. Is there anyway to re-lock it?

Sir.. there is no way to get back to stock.. unless you have a supported variant at the DC website ( Link is somewhere in the 7x threads )

Everyone, I'M SO VERY SORRY I EVEN POSTED THE LINK.
At the time I really believed Honor had their Sh!t together... and when they posted this:
"Honor View 10 and the soon-to-launch Honor 9 Lite come with EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Devices like Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and Honor 8 Lite, on the other hand, will get it in the near future"
Which is the last paragraph from the article... I thought they were being Honest & Truthful.
I don't know about you... but I don't consider *Will Get It In The NEAR Future* as being months and months away.
And now we know their is no Rhyme or Reason as to how they roll ANY update out.. it's almost a month after I 1st started the thread.. and they are not even close to even getting the 230 mb face unlock / ar update to 100% of devices...
Let's not even go there with EMUI & OREO.
So Again, I just want to say Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up besides mine.. to be let down so hard.

Yeah dude I don't think Honor should be held accountable for a vague release window speculated by XDA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen any direct statements from Honor promising Q1 2018; all I've seen is a bunch of "through the grapevine" stuff and hearsay going back months.

Well I believe honor paid xda for some sponsored content? it's called advertising, not "sleeping together." But that doesn't mean everything xda says about honor is gospel. Plus xda sourced android authority, not huawei/honor, in the original article you posted.

What Does Any Of This Have To Do With The Way Honor Is Handling Business?
What does this have to do with Scattered Updates from Region to Region? (See Pics)
What does this have to do with Kernel Source being RELEASED IN DECEMBER.. And No Stock Nougat Image in site after 60 days?
If Honor is "Paying" for sponsored Advertisment, why are they allowing Mis-Information to be written and not corrected?

No, comments from random xda users do not prove that there was any kind of promise from Honor. If Honor made a statement saying Q1 Oreo for 7x, you should be able to link directly to that statement. But I feel like you're probably just trolling me so I'm done with this. Peace out :good:
Look dude, if you're unhappy with the phone or the service then jump ship. Put your phone on swappa.com and grab another one that is more to your liking. First you're writing about how people shouldn't be rooting and installing twrp and how we should leave everything stock. Now you're saying your sick of this and tired of that. It's tiresome man. **** happens. You think Huawei is the first oem to miss a deadline or say something and not come through? Every manufacturer has done something that some of the user base didn't like. Can't keep everyone happy.
Let's think hypothetically for a second. Let's say the pushed the oreo update right and it had numerous bugs and was just awful. Then you'd be right back in here saying they rushed things and you'd be complaining more. The only thing that I see as a problem is that they haven't released the stock firmware yet for the L24 but then again the phone has been out for not even 3 months. Could be worse. I bought my wife a note 3 before branded at&t and they never even allowed the bootloader to be unlocked. Rooting and putting a rom on there was a pain in the ass. You have your opinion and I have mine but here lately it seems all you want to do is piss and whine about how unhappy you are. You stated in another post how you might not be around by the time they release oreo, well why put off til tomorrow what you can do today, do everyone a favor.

Are you having trouble excepting that Security Updates are at different levels all over the Planet.. I'm sorry but it's a fact.
Are you having trouble excepting that a device that is rooted at this present time has no easy way to return to stock if needed for WHATEVER reason after being on the market for over 2 months ? I'm sorry but that is also a fact.

That's not evidence, that's just a bunch of people chatting.
By the way, when you say 'the defense rests' that means you have no more evidence to present. If this is the only "evidence" you have, this means you actually have lost the case because you cannot present any further evidence.
--> I have no dog in this race nor do I own this phone, but I did think it was funny that you rested your case after not presenting any evidence
Yeah I'm done listening to your nonsense. You're just one of those people who like to argue just for the sake of arguing. Ofc I understand this is an entry level/bottom tier device but at the same time I'm not the one *****ing about it either so there's a fact for you. I bought this phone because for the price it is a decent phone and works fine for what I need it for. I knew it was new on the market and that development would take some time to pick up pace. I didn't know much about Huawei but I don't see them being very different from any other manufacturer. Most companies don't give specific dates. It's always the blanket statement time frame estimates. But apparently you live in a world where everything is on time exactly when it was supposedly said and everything runs perfect and if there is any deviation of how you think it should be you throw a temper tantrum like a 3 yr old that didn't get their juice box. Grow up. **** happens. Answer all you want but I'm not replying to any more crying about how unhappy you are and how unfair big bad Huawei is being.
Finally..
EXCELLENT!
Finally....
Neither of you bring Any Relevance to what this thread is about..
Because you are not changing anyone's mind here..
The people have spoken all over the planet about the 7x and the issues they've had with patches, updates, past experiences, lack of concern on Honor's part.. etc.
I've spoken of why would anyone really want to root *with no way back* and the 7x having been out for MONTHS and folks have no way to return to stock.
And mainly: TO RECIEVE THE O.T.A.' s
You have to be stock to get those.
You see people asking "how can they return to stock? " throughout the threads.. and god bless'em they have no way to do so.
That Sucks.
Everything said on XDA DOES NOT APPLY TO *YOU*
If I took everything everyone has said in the last 6 years I've been hanging out here to My Personal Heart.... I would have lost my mind long ago.
I LOVE my 7x... I accept it's the entry level deivce.. thus the $199.00 price.. my opinion is you get ZERO advantage rooting at this time.
It has Themes, DPI adjustments, the ability to remove apps without root, great battery life, and decent speed.. even with the 3/32 variant that I own.. And your $199.99 dollar investment runS *100% Stable and 100% Fully Functional*... you don't need backups of stock firmware.... but, as a company.. don't promote rooting and a system to unlock one's bootloader.. and make it a One-Way Suicide trip to Root Oblivion and not extend a hand in the form of stock firmware to pull them out should they need it.
Someone said in a Quote " Hell they had firmware mold to install it on everyone's 7x... why can't they just release that? "
Makes Perfect Sense To Me..
Again I Don't Like Being Lied To.
If the articles that were out there in Jan. stating these updates are "Coming Soon" and they were not.. Honor should have jumped in an clarified dates..... Immediately.
They did not.
Accept that your beliefs are not everyone elses.

Since I bought the phone I have been watching this section and his posts caught my eye because of the very extreme love for the phone.
This phone is great for daily use and I came from a Xperia Z3.
Hope he is more satisfied then

My Man!!!
What Up Bud! I heard you were tapping into my final 7x thread..
Sold it. Why?
Reason 1 ) The Snapdragon 636 is my "Dream Engine" for a device (Price / Performance). Qualcomm takes Great Pride in it as well.. and has worked with Google to give "Special Support" to 636, 660 and 845 engines which will make the upgrade to Android P happen much faster and provide Enhanced performance upon it's arrival
http://pocketnow.com/2018/05/09/qua...5-660-and-636-for-quick-android-p-integration
https://www.androidauthority.com/qualcomm-android-p-863285/
Reason 2 ) Worldwide Development. Hell.. there are over 20 ROM's, A Half-Dozen Kernels and A Half-Dozen TWRP's here on XDA alone. plus Xiaomi EU. Global Beta's etc.
Camera has 4K E.I.S. capabilities and the Batterylife quite frankly has Knocked Me On My A$$.
4,000 maH battery.. and it "Sips" power.. now that I've conditioned it.. I'm getting 10 to 12hrs S.O.T. a day and I'm still hovering around the 50% mark... It's incredible!
( See Pic)
Reason 3 ) I got it on sale for only: $199.99.. It was meant to be .

I NEVER HATED THE HONOR 7X.
In stock form.. I think it was a nice device.
I live in the U.S.of A. Huawei / Honor here is HATED by our government.. and our government is trying to force them down the same road that they sent ZTE packing down.
Not Good..
I support my government.. and if they have evidence that Huawei / Honor truely are spying on us through covert methods in their devices.. I want NO PART of that.
Here is a Direct Quote from the link I post above:
"Will Google work with other chipset producers like MediaTek and Huawei-owned HiSilicon to quicken updates? Well, the latter one sounds less likely than the former as the Chinese manufacturer is under investigation by the US government for sanction breaches and could be subject to an import ban just like its counterpart ZTE. Still, if Google is invested in getting Android P out faster, then it will want to work with MediaTek."
And.. A Question: for those of you who root.. has Huawei / Honor finally released "STOCK" firmware yet? either Nougat or Oreo ? another reason I did not stick around.. there were so many bricked devices all around the planet.. and the Company could care less about providing Software Recovery Support that was DESPERATELY needed.
It's just Too Much Drama going on with Huawei / Honor for "My" taste and for my morals.
Well I feel your pain. I bought this phone root and remove as much spyware and bloatware as possible. But I surely don't understand your love for the US government and hate for the Chinese. The US unlawfully spies on all of its citizens whereas the Chinese government lawfully spies on it's own citizens and just replicates the unlawfulness of US by spying on you and I

Someone Told Me I Was Being "MIS-QUOTED" In This Old 7x Thread.. I See They Were Correct...
Let Me Ask You Something Odiver,
How's Your Comprehension?
Where Do You See Me Saying: "I LOVE MY GOVERNMENT" ???
I Said: I *Support* My Government. As Every U.S. Citizen Should.. A Person May Not Agree With Their Government's Every Move.. But You Do Support Your Government As A Whole Over Any Other Government On The Planet.
If You Don't Like The Way You Are Being Governed , Then You Should LEAVE The U.S. of A. For A Country You Precieve As One With "Greener Pastures".
Where Do You See Me Saying: "I HATE THE CHINESE" ???
The *United States Government* Wants No Part Of The Chinese Company Huawei / Honor's Products In The Hands Of U.S. Consumers.. Or This Company Having Ties With Companies Such As AT&T and Most Recently Google.. Because They Have Cause To Believe They Are Using Their Ties With These Companies For Backdoor Spying.
That's Not Me Making That Accusation.. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE CHINESE Personally.. I Just Want No Parts Of A Device Or Company That Has Raised Concerns In Regards To Domestic Privacy.
You Say.. "You Feel My Pain" ???
What Pain Do I Feel ???
I Felt Sorry For Those That Were Hurt By The LACK OF SUPPORT From Huawei / Honor. Your Device Was Released 8 Months Ago.. AND STILL THERE IS NO FACTORY FIRMWARE AVAILABLE FROM THEM..
Why Is That..? Because They Don't Care ?
I Did Not Need The Firmware.. ( Thank God I Did Not Root The 7x Which Made My Sale Of It Happen Almost Instantly ) But Many Users That Were Not Knowledgeable Enough, Rushed Into Rooting Their Devices.. And Got Into A World Of Hurt... And Had No Way Out.. No Help From A Company That's Suppose To Be "Root-Friendly" At Least According To Early Articles Here On XDA... Back In Jan-Feb-March.. Claiming Huawei / Honor Was "All-In" With The Development Community..
So.. No Pain..
Just Issues With The Kirin 659 Engine.. And It's Weak Gpu..
I Craved.. ( And Have Thankfully Obtained ) What I Believe Is *The Best* Engine For Price / Performance: The Snapdraogon 636 Coupled With The Adreno 509 Gpu...
And I'm So Good With That..
So.... If You Are Going To Put My Words In Your Print... Do It Accurately.
x2
Divorced my 7x awhile back and hooked up with a oneplus 6.

My comment regarding "feeling your pain" was in reference to the lack of support and difficulty rooting this phone as compared to the others that I have owned. People root phones for many different reasons. My reason is to remove as much of the Google spyware as possible.
For some reason it appears that you differentiate between Google, At&t, Verizon and too many other companies to list that are enabling the US government to spy on it's citizens and foreign citizens and that of a chinese company spying on US citizens for it's government . You do remember Snowden don't you ? The US government is using US companies to spy on citizens around the world. The US constitution prohibits spying on it's own citizens. Do you realize that you are uniquely distinquished through your metadata. Are you familiar with the Cloud Act ?
No I don't fully support the US government and your comment telling me that if I don't I should leave just shows your blind allegiance. And as a matter of fact... Yes I am planning on moving within the next year to a country that has more freedom.
This is not the land of free. Everything in this country is regulated. Try to do something as simple as modify or repair your septic system with the government, build a home that is not made of the cookie cutter sort that is made using unique materials. Try taking a medicine that is natural and safe like kratom and watch as the special interests of big pharma get it banned. The police in this country are not here to serve and protect hence all the police cars are made to blend in vs the police in foreign countries where they are bright colors so you can spot them. Police here are nothing more than revenue generators. I am not a minority and I don't trust the police. The amount of corruption and pay offs in this country is no different than any number of third world countries. The companies and lobbyists are making the laws. This country is not of and by the people. The government manipulates the media, both mainstream and social media using tax dollars to promote their agendas.
yes the honor 7x probably has a chipset that is providing info to the chinese government but all chips that have been made in the last decade have been compromised by either the US govenment or the chinese government so there is no way around it. The US coming out against Huawei is nothing but the pot calling the kettle black.
Yes I can't wait to GTFO
Le'ts End This Right Here..

Someone Expressed To Me I Should Come Back To The Honor Area To Defend Myself...
I'm Not Going To Even Attempt To Engage You.
The Comments You've Made... In A Simple "Goodbye To The Honor 7x" Thread.. Are QUITE FRIGHTENING For A U.S. Citizen.
And, Your Clear HATERED Of The United States of America Is...... SCARY... For Someone That Resides Here.
I Want N-O-T-H-I-N-G More To Do With You...... Whoever You Are.
I Agree............... You Should Leave Our Country As-Soon-As Possible.
