Introduction: I have recently asked/requested @Gustavo RD78 to build the Z2 community a N kernel, after building a N kernel for the Z3c. He has helped the Z3c community to successfully install N preview on the Z3 Compact, and now he has built us, the Z2 community, the new Android N Kernel for the Z2. He has also asked me to tell everyone about this, and so here it is. Here is how to install Android Nougat DP3/DP4/7.0/7.1 ROM for the Z2!
UPDATE! Thanks to Android Doctor (@madscientistdam), for Beta testing the older Dev Preview builds on his YouTube channel. As well, thanks to @rcstar6696 for the updated ROM build. You can find his OG post thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/aosp-6-0-marshmallow-sony-xperia-z2-t3235951:)
Below are the steps on how to Install the Stable 7.0/7.1 Nougat ROM, and how to Install the (Unstable) Dev Preview 3/4 ROMS. (Don't flash the Dev Preview 3/4 ROM if you are planning on using you phone as a daily driver!)
Note. I'm NOT responsible if your device bricks, blows up, or pulls a finger to you.

3: Flash the Boot from ROM via fastboot (fastboot flash boot pathTo/boot.img)
Flash Recovery via fastboot too (fastboot flash recovery pathTo/recovery.img)

5: If you have a D6502 Model than it needs the Universal Baseband patch (D6503 users can skip this step!)
6: Flash the zips in Recovery
7: Reboot and enjoy Nougat! First boot may take 10-15 minutes.
How To Install 7.0/7.1 Using TWRP RECOVERY...
1: Download the Nougat ROM zip, GAPPS zip, and (optional) the Pixel Converstion Pack zip and SuperSu Root zip.
2: Place all of thise files in the root of your Internal Storage or SD Card.

Then flash the optional Pixel Converstion Pack zip, then clear cache, then finally if you want to have/keep Root, flash the Supersu zip, and clear cache, then reboot, but If you have a D6502 Model than it needs the Universal Baseband patch, so flash it! (Skip this if you have a D6503 model!)
5: Enjoy Nougat. First boot may take 10-15 minutes!
How to install the Developer Preview 3/4 Firmeware...
This is NOT recommended that you decide to flash this as the Dev Preview ROMS are extremely outdated, unstable, and next to unusable. For Developers only!
You'll need:
-Android N Z2 Kernel a, SuperSU.zip, and Recovery FOTA Partition (TWRP). (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...nel-android-n-preview-3-t3439811#post68284953)
-Xperia Z3 Developer Preview 3 OR 4 ftf ROM. (DP3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cCnBv81XJ0cmZVRlFBQXpYMjQ/view?pref=2&pli=1 DP4: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cCnBv81XJ0aFdqOHpCZzFVNm8/view)
-Any ftf designed for the Z2.
-Xperia Z2 device. (Recommended D6503, but you can also try D6502.)
-Flashtool PC Application.
How to flash:
1: Flash Z3 Dev Preview 3/4 ftf without flashing rpm.sin
2: Flash Z2 N kernel.
3: You can try and root and install TWRP using ADB.
3: Reboot!
If you are stuck in a Bootloop, then simply just reflash Stock ROM.

Questions & Answers
Q: How do I Root my Z2 and Install TWRP on firmware .291 or below/above?
A: Simply follow this guide to Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/tool-rooting-23-5-1-291-supersu-t3437280
Q: How stable/usable is the AOSP Nougat ROM?
A: Extremly stable and recommended for daily use. There is a 'What works and don't' list below the Q&A!
Q: Will this delete all my data?
Yes and No. Unless your on a previous version of CM (Cyanogenmod), it will Factory Reset your phone in order to install the ROM, but none of your Google Account, Internal Storage, or SDCARD files will be affected/deleted.
Q: If the DP3/PD4 Concept ROMS are next to unusable, then why are there steps in order to install them?
A: Only developers will know! Just don't install them! XD
More Questions will be Answered once, well, someone asks me a question!
What's Working/Not Working?!
What's Working?
-Wifi
-NFC
-Bluetooth
-Camera

-Data 3G/4G
-Pretty much everything.
What's NOT Working?
-HDR Setting in Camera.
-NFC MAY not working on newer builds. (May..)
-You tell me.

Heres a youtube video showing how to install it this rom looks promising https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brE7L59G6Rg

why install when wifi and cam not working ^^ please fix it first.

Notes and recommendations:
Always use Developer Preview 3 rom, users have reported various problems with Preview 4
Always use the kernel Constructed to Z2
Check which governor is being used after root it is modified Interactive to Performance, then change back to Interactive

I Can't live without WiFi :/ Please Fix it ) Tnx

sup bro love the rom

So why is this still in General and not on the Original Android Development subforum?
And if Brandon isn't doing anything to port this except beg other people to do it, why not let other people make this thread?

Becuase I (no one else) HAVE asked Gustavo RD78 to make the N Kernel, and HE asked ME to post a thread like this. Read the OP more carefully, thank you

@Brandon Nel Now that Android N is officially announced and the source code has also fallen, will you build a more stable AOSP rom for Z2?

For LBL work???

Then I hope that this project doesn't die... Sony won't update the Z2 to Android N, so this project assumes a much bigger importance if you guys can make this work.

Works great, I couldn't find any major bugs except the Facebook and Messenger apps, they don't work. Facebook appears to be loading for the first time and then suddenly closes, and messenger just crashes, doesn't even open. So I went back to Sony, did anyone face the same issue or know how to fix it?

[FULLY WORKING!][TESTED][XPOSED MOD]Android N SystemUI For Xperia Z2

Hey everyone. I have found a Xposed Module that gives you all the featires from Android N...And More!
I have tested this on my Xperia Z2, and should work on all Rooted Xperia Z2 Devices, UB & LB, .487, .570, & .575 firmware. All you will need is any Recovery (TWRP, PHILZ, CWM) and that's it!
How to install?
MOD EDIT: RMOVED
Only download the Android N-ify apk if you already have Xposed framework fully installed! If you already have the framework installed, then don't follow these steps below. Instead, just install Android N-ify apk as normal, apply in Xposed Framwork, and Reboot!
Steps...
1: Install the Xposed installer apk as normal.
2: Reboot into any Recovery and flash the Xposed installer zip.
3: After Reboot, install Android n-ify apk as normal.
4: Apply the Android N-ify module in Xposed Framework app
5: Reboot again and your done!
Note: To have Android L/M/N Vanilla Softkeys, then please download the Xstana app and use that, or apply a Marshmallow theme in your Xperia's Theme Manager.

Any chance of it working on cm12?
Z2 on 570, UB and deoxed. "System UI unresponsive" on normal boot and safe mode. Had to flash back the Xperia X UI I was using, thankfully my ROM isn't corrupted! I'll try manually moving SystemUI and setting permission.
Tested on FW .575 on my Xperia Z2 D6503 and it does not work... as a matter of fact i doesnt seem to do anything.
contain files are not deodexed. so this might give issue to deodex stock roms i guess.
Him again..
Sorry but guys but that doesn't seem legit, as with the magical N port...
Odexed files = IMHO that guy have just took from Z3 N system and publish that here.
I don't think it's possible at all.
Proper screeshots with that thread in background or it didn't happened.
That guy just love to mess with us guys.
And - lol - I haven't seen all OP = working on unlocked BL, not LB, for a non kernel part = LAWL !
DEFINITELY SNAKE OIL-ISH TROLL
It didn't work on my Xperia Z2 LB D6502. MM.570

Stop calling people trolls just because they are trying their best to do Android development. I'm not the best Developer at the moment but I'm trying my best. Hey Brandon, alright I was not sure if it'll work for a deoxed rom. So I tried flashing and moving SystemUI manually (I've done this many times so I know I've set the permissions properly), but SystemUi still doesn't load. Not sure because it's oxed only or what.
I have a D6503 on 570, deoxed with root and SuperUserMod, no Xposed.
Would appreciate a reply, thanks.

Ok sorry about that. I'll see if I can deodex the systemui.apk, but while I do that, try to install xposed installer then see if it works. Thanks in advance.

Wow.
Stop me guys, the bull****t is to big.
So, Brandon, please share with details which files you have modded in system ui exactly to get that amazing result, like a full port of N quicksettings mechanisms... + without deodexing it !
got a little excited when read the title and now fly away with disappointment :crying:
Please stop what you are think you are doing right now
First of all if you're trying to port android development this is not the right thread
And if you're really trying to port something without much development experience then you must test it a lot and with different devices before you say (no problems at all) and ask for help from experienced devs which I really believe this is the case and this is just a big troll
Moderators should really close these threads at once at least until he learn how to do things ?
@Brandon Nel,
If u have really ported this then make a video and post it here.

I can 100% guarantee that OP will never be able to provide conclusive proof that this works. The screenshot he sent is the easiest trick in the book. All you have to do to change model number is edit the build prop file. Expect OP's next replies to be defensive as opposed to fulfilling the proof we ask for. Guaranteed.

in the rom folder.
Please excuse the noob question, i read all the information but i have one simple question, i have a rooted 10A ROM with TWRP installed already, do i still have to reload TWRP again and then install the 10D zip? or can i just backup the 10A download the ZIP for the 10D and flash it via TWRP.
Follow the instructions in autoprimes thread about upgrading to 10d from 10a. Then you can flash this rom. But not until you upgrade your system

@Miustone any luck with the h850rom port for h830?
Sweeeeeet. I was running your patch before. Glad you've made it for the H830
-installs now-
EDIT: @Miustone After installing the first time I forgot to flash SuperSu and it would tell me that system is not responding. Not sure if it was just an error on my phone or you want to add it to the install instructions.
Cool I got the update to 10D, how do I flash the this ROM, regular as any other ROM, please don't flame me, the reason i ask is because this phones are very sensitive, In the instructions it shows first the kernel and then the ROM, is this how is supposed to be done in this device?.
I'm a bit confused here. How is it "untouched" but has better battery life?
About to load up this rom

Good after few times "dead phone" before updating to 10D successfully. After that step by step flashing Fluence HD everything finished good. Everything run good for now. Will be happy if put some extras like debloat from Aroma instaler, or tweek from the inside the menu or any other stuf that make this rom diferent from the stock one. Thanks for the good job mate !

Yes but his patch also alters the look and feel of the phone as the DPI in the patch is different from stock, it would be cool to have a really debloted rom with just few mods to keep the look of stock and be able to load all of the apps we are gonna be using. Thanks to the dev for the ROM.

Official Oxygen OS Marshmallow for our Onyx

Look's like OnePlus finally released the Official MM releases of Oxygen OS. Following the last Community Build, its OOS version 3.1.2.
It seems like a quiet release of a rather big marketing point for OnePlus, seeing that there is no flashy blog or forum post deviating from OnePlus' usual tactic. But all that aside, all that matters (to most of us) is that its here, finally.
Well, go get it then.

lol, maybe they came to their senses after providing such timely updates
I guess it's because OnePlus doesn't want any more attention for their bastard child. This update was released just to silent the annoying OPX owners. LoL
Downloading it now... I will try to dirty flash this update on top of 3.1.1.
The link to the oneplus x page gives "forbidden" but the direct link works. So now just waiting for sources so we have an updated twrp and kernel.
Successfully flashed the latest update on top of 3.1.1 through TWRP. Everything's good, the security patch is October 1st, 2016.

Yes, i think is happening something strange inside this company :silly:
Is this a known issue. i tried to flash it through stock TWRP.
I got below error "This package is for oneplus " devices; this is a ONE.
is there a workaround for this?

Thanks for reply. i wish to retain the TWRP after flashing the latest zip.
I am moving from cm14 ROM. when i flashed the "eng.stk's blu_spark TWRP for Oxygen OS 3" , i wasn't able to boot into recovery.
is there a way? or am i doing it entirely in a wrong way?

So, finally we got Marshmallow.
Excuse my ignorance, but i am a bit confused how to upgrade from CM. Without bothering anyone, can you eplain how to update safely?
From what i've read the are the steps:
flash stock recovery via TWRP
flash OOS 2.1.X first
flash OOS 3.12 now
flash TWRP v41 by eng.stk via fastboot for future upgrades or kernel istallations (this step is optional)
Is that right?
Oh finally they solved the bug of the airplane mode and the ****ed animation in the setting. Good experience overall if you enable the gpu rendering ( a little slower compared to lollipop both without gpu rendering )
Edit: even the manual selection of the operator is fixed! But i hatd how long the setting menu is now
