Use IE instead of Chrome for unlocking your boot loader @ Motorola's Dev site.

Question about G5 Plus root

Really just one simple question. Is it possible to root the Republic Wireless Moto G5 Plus? The build number is NPN25.137-35
Just wondering if it is doable and safe to do? I know that many of RW's phones are locked up with the custom software and root would cause problems, but is this the same?
There's a root method out there for the Amazon phone. Try it and see...

Question about root timeframe

So now the v30 is announced now and will soon be available to purchase my question is in regards to LG root time frame on new devices. I know each device can have it's own time before root can be achieved, Based on the V10 and V20 root method how long generally does it usually take to find out if root is even possible?
1) in past experience between V10 and V20 how long was it generally from release date to root method? few weeks, months?
2) has G6 been rooted at all? gives kinda an indication if root would be possible in V30
Thanks for the help, again, not asking a ETA or anything like that, just want to know on past experiences with the V10 & V20 how long it took before root was possible and if root is even possible or not.
If you get a V30, you might want to get the carrier free model straight from LG. No carrier branded LG G6 has been rooted yet, and since even T-Mobile no longer allows the bootloader to be unlocked, even if a kernel exploit is found (like dirtycow), you will also need someone to leak a engineering bootloader like they did for the V20. If someone wouldn't have come up with the eng. aboot, the only two V20s that would have root are the H918 and US996.
Have a look-e-see yourself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development
The only model that has root is the US997 carrier free version that LG allows for the bootloader to be unlocked.

Get used to the idea root aint happening. If it does, its a bonus. You are looking at it wrong.
Or, get an HTC.

You can't unlock the bootloader on the Amazon Prime version and without an unlocked bootloader, you can't root. There may be work-arounds so check in the Moto G4 Plus section because it's more active and pretty much anything you can do to a G4+ works on the plain G4.

moto G7 expert in Washington DC area?

Do any of the G7 experts live in the Washington DC area?
I'm not a Dev or anything but I know a lot about phones. I know what to do and what not to do on them.
Live near Roanoke, VA
Maybe you should ask what you need?
Actually it is no longer necessary and this thread can be deleted.
I had tried to root my Moto G7 phone and ended in a bootloop that required a phone reset to get out of and reinstallation of all my apps and settings. So I thought I had done something wrong and if there was an expert nearby I would ask that person with greater knowledge to please root it for me.
But it turned out the latest version of Magisk (19.3) does not patch boot.img correctly for the Moto G7. So it wasn't something I did wrong but Magisk is not yet ready for the Moto G7. Same for twrp for the G7.
So I decided the smart thing is to just wait till these two tools work correctly for the Moto G7. My bootloader is unlocked waiting for that.
