Xiaomi Mi Max Quick Charging 3.0 Capability (Proven) - Xiaomi Mi Max Guides, News, & Discussion

GOOD NEWS GUYS!!!
MI MAX 32GB proven to have quick charge 3.0 capability!!!!
I've tested with Aukey PA-T14 and its charging like QC 3.0!
Voltage varies from >6.5V which charge like QC 3.0.
Full charged from 10% to 100% in 160mins.(Phone On)
Full Charged 0% to 100% for 125 minutes (Phone off)! For comparison LG G5 2800mAh 0-100% in 80min(Phone off)
Update:
Im using EU rom for my 32GB Mi Max and its still working with QC2.0 n QC3.0...
Old video uploaded (Using Titan 3rd party QC 3.0)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y--kCtsdz8
Tested on my Mi Max Gold 32GB China Dev 6.8.4 rom
[email protected] 8.7V 1.3A (7.5V due to my measuring device limit)
Charge from 25% to 55% in 40min.

I read a lot of thing about this today. Someone is saying it supports, somesone is saying doesn't support about QC 3.0. Also i watched your video. Your rom is MIUI 8 and it's suitable only for 32 GB. So i think QC 3.0 support is about MIUI.
MIUI 7 doesn't support and MIUI 8 supports.
One question: Has it an option about "fast charging" or "quick charging" in the battery settings?

Yea, it doesnt hv any setting about quick charging in battery setting like Samsung...

Check if file "/system/bin/hvdcp" exists... This file is the deamon that talks to the charger and requests the voltage. If this file is missing then no QC.

@nijel8 is it possible that if the file is missing, to get this file from somewhere, and manually place it there?
I am using xiaomi.eu beta rom, and no file exists

I have compared a few roms and found in the .zip system.img a file "hvdcp_opti", but when rom is flashed some files are not present in system/bin/

hvdcp_opti maybe the that file just renamed by xiaomi. It needs testing and I am not able to test it any time soon... Don't have access to computer and don't have charger... If you're willing to try take a look at https://blog.oxplot.com/quickcharge/ how it works...

It is all about testing... We don't know if QC is enabled in kernel... Some say helium supports it but hydrogen doesn't... Also we have to consider what is save charging voltage for our particular battery so I wouldn't use hvdcp file from another vendor if I'm not sure it won't blow the battery... We already have reports for exploded xiaomi batteries including one Mi Max. Maybe it is the same file for all but what it is in kernel makes the difference for a particular device(most likely).
Testing, testing, testing... Implementation is a piece of cake if it is in the kernel already...
Maybe it even works right out of the box and again we have to measure USB data lines and test and get hard data to prove it. Till then I don't know what to believe and it is definitely not what people fill...

ok i did some test on your suggestion, and seems positive compared to my previous charge rate.
- I extracted the "hvdcp_opti" file from a flashable rom system.img (xiaomi.eu miui 8 stable) and copied to /system/bin/ and gave the appropriate permissions to file.
- reboot
- in terminal: su ENTER /system/bin/hvdcp_opti
- reboot
- added line to build.prop "persist.usb.hvdcp.detect=true"
- reboot
With my charger Aukey PA-T14 QC3.0, before the edits i was getting around 1500mA - 1700mA charge rate..
After the edit, 2400mA - 2600mA I am on Helium though
i guess i need to test it a couple of times, and if someone else tries too and reports back if it works.

Meake sure to read current with same % charged battery, phone draws current depending on how much battery is charged.
Also if you could do me a favor. Go to /sys/class/power_supply/battery and zip all the files only in there(no folders)... Once phone not plugged and second zip with phone charging, and attach them here. Those are the files containing all the charging info at given moment. You'll see when you see thair names...
Not a big deal... Just if you can...
Would be nice if you could get one more zip with that file disabled or build.prop line to false. I doubt that line makes difference in miui, but it does on CM I think...

yes for sure, when the percentage was below 60% charge rate was 2400-2600mA, once it reached around 60% it then was about 1500-1800mA.
no worries, i will organise those files, when i next do a charge..
the hvdcp file is here: https://mega.nz/#!sBFBRLDI!aIkrxyuHBGGUurXjO7JdQVAMvilbOCh8-xLlqrdayZE

Ok, thank you. I actually have the deamon on CM13 and it runs by default... Just curious did you pulled that file out of official helium MIUI? Will checksum it against mine to se if they are different... Unfortunately don't have quick charger to test... Also would be useful to compare your helium battery files to my hydrogen once and it might revile the difference if any in the kernel regarding QC. We'll see...

I extracted that file from the xiaomi.eu rom, which is basically the crapfree version of the official rom.
Weird thing is i have that same rom flashed and the specific file was not flashed, but was present in the flashable rom system.img.

Probably missing in system.transfer.list or something...
BTW it is different from mine... Now I wonder it is b/c of different ROM versions or b/c different devices/kernels?! More and more questions rising up...

I am using latest CM13 build 8/27. Not sure which china hydrogen MIUI version this release is using as base.
Thanks for the files... Will let you know if I find something interesting...
EDIT: Ok... After comparing hydrogen and helium sets of battery files I can say I am pretty confident hydrogen kernel doesn't support QC and helium does... Helium has a extra file "allow_hvdcp3" with value 1 which hydrogen doesn't have. It is obvious that this file enables QC3.0 on helium judging from the name, but what I am not sure is hydrogen missing that file means what...? No QC3.0 support for sure, but does it mean QC2.0 or no QC at all!?
On the other hand comparing files when charging doesn't seems there's much of a difference in changing behavior. I charge with regular 5V/2A charger and if you used QC charger taking your files then there is really no any difference in changing. Makes me wonder does QC really works? Is the problem in your setup(possible)!? Or Xiaomi is just playing it safe by enabling some very conservative QC charge mode!? Maybe the battery can't handle QC in its full power!?
Questions... Questions... Questions...

I am in India and i am using 32gb version with miui 8.0.1. I tried with Aukey PA-T16 qualcomm certified QC 3 charger. But Mi max has taken same time as the supplied charger( nearly 3 hrs 30 mins). Had a chat with customer support (Xiaomi india), they claim that it supports QC2 only. But my device supports neighter QC2 nor QC3. Confusing claims by Xiaomi & Forum members

I have the Mi MAX 128GB and charging it with the original charger it takes 2:57 - 3:01 to fully charge from about 10% - 14%
With an Aukey QC 3.0 (3.0 also means 2.0 compatible) certified AC charger it takes exactly the same time to charge so I don't see any fast charging...
Using Xiaomi.eu ROM 6.9.29
http://www.aukey.com/product/PA-T9
Update: Guys look at this PDF from Qualcomm's web site:
https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Do you see something on the first page, in the QC3.0 section?
So why the f**k isn't it working on my phone... Even my charger is in the list (page 2)...

No. Your bootloader should remain the same. You can flash away with all 3.2.x roms.
Just DON'T install a leaked ICS rom or you will get a new bootloader... The cooked ICS roms are OK, just not the leaks...

Well, you can always post over at androidtabletgeeks. We don't have such limits. It's just a new site is all.
As with battery power, here is what I know.
Your battery life, is pretty much controlled by the kernel that is being used. This is not considering apps, and running processes which also use battery. But more so by the kernels ability to overclock (OC), and at the same time, use undervoltage (UV). UV is where you save a lot of battery when only concerning the OS itself. This is purely kernel controlled.
The object, or holy grail, as I say, is to find the lowest amount of UV based on CPU speed. At least UV enough to where you still have stability on the tab. Find the lowest amount of power required.
Here-in lies the problem. You only have 4 different kernel Dev's to choose from. And guess what? They all own a500's. And because of this, most of the newer kernels work fine on an a500, but with the 501, we get what is called 3g freeze or sleep of death. Both requiring re-boots. Sometimes you may go for a day without getting it. But it will happen if you use your 3g often enough. Some people aren't familiar with this, and just ignore it sometimes thinking the rom or app is messed up.
As with good kernels to use, I can say this;
1. Stock kernel (GPL compliant)
2. RichardTrip's 3.4 villain+ (current in rom) (GPL compliant)
3. Drelisdee earlier version kernel (GPL compliant)
4. Thor2002ro current version (untested and non-GPL compliant)
As with battery power, well, I can't tell you if Taboonay 2.2 compares. I believe Vache uses a RichardTrip kernel, just not aware which one. You can always experiment with kernels, as long as you follow the correct procedures.
As in roms, one would hope the newest version of HC would require a little less power to function. Just watch for the 3g freeze, usually when in the browser.

Don't worry. Nobody has ever made a paperweight from my roms
Just make a recovery backup of your current system through RA Recovery. Typically this generally provides some safety. I've never known a recovery image to be bad when running HC 3.2.x. It happens on rare occasions.
Only lately on the ICS "betas" have I seen some corrupted stuff.

Thanks for the comments!!!
It is probably because you are missing the 2 library files that are necessary for polaris Office to run.
I am at work now and don't have access to my files, so do the following;
Search the threads here at XDA, as you should be able to find a polaris office zip somewhere in either the dev, general or q&a forum. I remember putting one up some time ago (non flashable).
or
Download one of the Honeycomb 3.2.x roms that include polaris office, open the zip (do not extract it), then I belive in the lib folder, you will find the 2 polaris office lib files. They are easy to locate. Copy these into the same folder on your tablet. Then reboot and they should work.
As with DNLA apk, If you look near the bottom of my Rom post, you will see a link to a zip for the Acer System Apps. Unzip to your PC, and copy the apk you want, and also the Odex file. Copy to your tablets system/app folder, the reboot. Should work.

Well, generally, I use my Win7 to format my Ext SD Card to FAT32. As with PDF files, I run Docs to Go full version, and haven't noticed any issues.
If you format your SD Card, make sure you copy the contents to your PC First. Personally, I have 2 extra SD cards that I use. Always nice to have an original

[ROM] Nexus 7 (2013) Timur's v4.0 Android 6.0.1 MOB30X (Flo/Deb)

Howdy...
Starting today Timur announces on his website his final "ROM modification" "Timur's Kernel" in it's latest version for stock Android 6.0.1 MOB30X as a xmas giveaway until January 21st, 2017. It's availavle for the Nexus 7 (2013) Flo and Deb:
https://timur.mobi/timurs-kernel-v4/
You may also find it rather amusing, that he's giving access to the sources on github:
https://github.com/mehrvarz/msm-marshmallow-tm-usbhost-charge
As this is not my work, all credits goes to Timur Mehrvarz.
Regards
Shinson
Will this work with f2fs?
thanks for the info! I tested an older Version of Timurs Kernel - v4.0 beta2 for Android 6.0.1 "MMB29V" (03/2016) - and i cant say i was that happy with it.
But i will give it a second try.

Seems pretty apparent that nobody knows... Why don't you try it and let us know?
Been testing this Kernel out for a couple weeks now, was aiming for a permanent install but decided to test it out before I went ahead and made the mods to the center console. My hardware includes a UCA202, a Sweex 4 Port USB Hub, a USB2.0 Digital DVB-T SDR+DAB+FM HDTV TV Tuner Receiver Stick RTL2832U+R820T all bought from Amazon. Now am not sure if my hardware is just plain crap coz am forced to reboot the tablet quite a lot. USB communications drops a lot, while poweramp can regain communication with USB and continue to send signal to the amp I always have to reboot for wavesink and SDRtouch to regain communication with the DVB dongle. At this stage I've ruled out permanent install.
What is everybody else's experience?
Can't the features be extracted and implemented to other roms?
Slightly off topic -> has anyone used the 2013 for a dash install and found anything with reasonable battery life?
im DL'ing this kernel right now for a test run, but has anyone used any rom/kernel combo that can stay in standby for more than a few days?

It depends. I've had it, with Lollipop, lose 2% over 48hours on my stripped system. That's unusual though.

It may work but he doesn't recommend it and wouldn't support issues.
where do you get these files?
USBHost kernel (flo601) + service installer.....aka, timur-services + timur-usbhost
With TWRP recovery running, the tablet should now appear as a USB drive on your PC. This lets you copy the three zip archives required for the next step over: timur-services, timur-usbhost and SuperSU. Make sure these three files are available on the tablet's internal sdcard. Then install the three zip files (timur-services + timur-usbhost before SuperSU!), using the TWRP on-screen UI. Note that whenever you update the kernel (usbhost), you will also need to re-install SuperSU afterwards. - OK, done. You can now restart system and boot into Android OS.

Did you unpack the zip file in windows first? Should end up with two separate zips that can then be flashed with twrp...
didn't use Timur...went with elementalX v5.16
I use an Arduino Leonardo as Keyboard.
If I wake my Tablet and have the Arduino connected it will show 1 sek the wake Video and then it starts the suspend Video. And It show the connected USB device "Arduino Dll" although I don't aktivated the option to show the divces.
After the video is over, everything is okay.
It only happen if I have the Arduino connected.
If I have my extern usb soundcard connected it only have the error that it shows the USB devices on start although i haven't activated it.
Is there a fix?

Timur is the only kernel that works with OTTG+Charge and on/off auto detect. Has the elementalx fixed all these issues?

Here is a tuned interactive governor profile for the Asus zf2 ze551ml/ze550ml (1.8ghz version). It should work with custom kernels that provide interactive governor and kernel aduitor mod .
Full tune profile tunes CPU,GPU,I/O SCHEDULER,TCP CONGESTION ALGORITHM
Interactive tuned profile tunes the interactive governor.
Normal on demand returns back to default governor(use if you want to play demanding games for eg.).
Enjoy.
Instructions:
Download and extract the zip attached.
Copy the extracted profiles.json (using some root explorer)and paste it in /data/data/com.kerneladuitor.mod/files/ .
Restart KAM.
If KAM does not detect my profiles.json after pasting it in /data/data/com.kerneladuitor.mod/files/ run the following command from adb (Or Terminal) with root:
adb shell chmod 764 /data/data/com.kerneladuitor.mod/files/profiles.json
Remove <adb shell> for the command in Terminal.
IF The profiles still don't show Try this by @mclarence :
1)Rename the profiles.json (the one provided by me) file to something else (eg profiles_bak.json). Leave it in /data/data/com.kerneladiutor.mod/files/ folder.
2)Go into Kernel Adiutor (Or the modified version) and create a random profile, does not need to be anything specific.
3)Go back to /data/data/com.kerneladuitor.com/files/ folder and you should see another profiles.json appear.
4)Copy the contents of profiles.json of the one you renamed (eg profiles_bak.json)
Then paste it into the other profiles.json (created by Kernel Aduitor), delete everything inside of it.
IMP: ( Complete File Overwrite Works as Well)
Finally:
Restart Kernel Aduitor and it should appear in the profiles section.

V1.1:
(Help me figure out if this is better than previous version. Previous version has better SoT but this one seems to be bit better at standby. Feedback would be helpful.)
Made some changes to tuned interactive and full tune.
Added normal on demand mode to go back to default governor settings quickly.

Zip is NOT FLASHABLE!
Zip is big beacuse it has KAM inside.
I forgot to add credits for KAM. Will do it now.
This should work on any kernel with interactive governor(interactive governor doesn't depend on MM kernel or N kernel or on whether it's stock or its custom. This profile just fine tunes interactive governor tunables for better battery life AND equivalent performance. Do tell me if I am wrong!)
That being said, I should mention that it was tested on CM14.1/LINEAGE OS and it gave me 5.30+ hrs SOT on normal use without the performance hits that most battery saving governors have.
Yes your profiles and the post by @soniCron was the idea behind my profile. All credits to you guys!
What profile are you using? Are you using greenify too or not?
Another question. Is this tweak good also for standby?

I use full tuned. It tunes interactive, GPU,io SCHEDULER,etc.
Of you have you're own settings for other things like GPU etc, you can use tuned interactive to just get tuned inter active governor.
No,I don't use Greenify(I don't get my notifications on time because of it)
About standby; it doesn't do much for standby. But I hardly lose more than 1 or 2% an hour on cm14.1.

Thanks.
I see, so there is no solution now for 1-2% per hour battery drain, I think that sucks because when i was still using my ze550kl the battery doesn't drain that much in idle mode
Hi.
Using it now, seems really OK, I'll be back with impressions after 1 day of use. Thanks
Great!!!
After 4 hours, using the standard CM14 kernel. Really good.
Will this need to be reinstalled everytime the ROM is updated?

Yep.
Although not exactly if you just dirty flashed an update. Then you'll have to just enable the profile again thorough KAM.
Also maybe @say99 and @jrior001 would want to look into this?
Can this be included as default tuning for interactive in the builds?(or is it too much to ask. I don't know much about ROM development)

There hasn't been a single kernel or firmware for z00a that has better standby than this. 1-2%/hour drain just seems inevitable in z00a. Unless the creative and brilliant guys at lineage come up with something in the future maybe, who knows?
Given their commitment and how good cm14 and linos 14 turned out to be, I have high hopes.

I doubt that they would,. I'll wait till there's a flash and the settings/ enabling are remembered although I doubt this is feasible.

If it's dirty then no need. Clean flash requires reinstall obviously. It's not recommended to include hard-coded tuning into a governor. Anyways the settings are different for each model but the kernel we use is the same so not happening.

They are way ahead of you. Yesterday frameworks merged tighter system app management & all. Cmfm is doing a complete overhaul. It looks great now. & I'm going to do custom builds which are going to have even more tweaks.
Btw LinOS has merged some components of Blur from Xosp.
Here are some useful flashable files. The SU add on is for Roms based on LinOS to enable Native SU. The Lineage file manager should be compatible with any rom that has CMFM as default. Feel free to share. I take no credit. I didn't make this.

The file manager zip doesn't get flashed. Flash errors.
I installed it anyway by doing some stuff, but it still can't access SD card. Keeps flashing a toast that this operation requires root access.
But looks have improved. And so have features otherwise.

I think I ****ed up my phone. Elp!!!!

If I have a note 4/4x I don't even know my myself but I know that I have the Snapdragon processor. And I thought Note 4 and Note 4x both have the Snapdragon 625 processor but I have the Snapdragon 626. So I'm a lot more confused. And that's not the issue, the issue is I don't like the MIUI so I tried a custom ROM. A day went on the custom ROM feeling super awesome but on the 2nd day battery started draining a lot faster than it did. Before custom ROM it sign use any battery on sleep even if it was left for hours and now it's draining while on sleep too (maybe. I did notice it tho). I can't explain how afraid I'm now to play games on the phone currently because of the battery drain. I don't want to go back to MIUI but if there is no option and if it will fix the draining problem I can consider it... Maybe... But PLEASE HELP ME ASAP
Thanks in advance to all of the developers for helping.

First of all, you have a Snapdragon 625. Showing 626 is simply an error.
Find out what's eating your battery. It can be an app running in the background. You can check that in the Settings menu - Battery.
And which ROM are you actually using?

Thanks for the tip. And when I was in MIUI or on the first day of using the custom ROM I played like 5 hours continuously and it drained only 55% of charge but now it's too much. It's draining even on sleep.

First of all don't panic, panicking doesn't make situations better,it can worson your situation by your thoughts.
Since u have a custom ROM installed I suggest to backup all your data and clean flash the ROM or if you aren't satisfied flash stock Rom,but don't lock the bootloader in case you want to return to Custom Roms, which I think you want to.

How to not lock the bootloader? Sorry am extremely noob ??
Here is what u can do
Backup files on ur internal storage and everything else u want like contact, app data, wifi setting etc.
Now go here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...her-development/rom-pixel-experience-t3723382
and download the PE rom .
Then goto twrp and format system, data, cache and dalvik cache. And then flash the Pixel Experience rom.
Now the most important part, once the phone reboots and setup is complete dont install any apps just check if u still got the battery drain issue or not.
If there is no battery drain then the problem was with any apps that u had installed that was eating ur battery like dog or something with ur software
But if u still face the same issue without installing any apps then there might be problem with ur hardware/battery.
Hope this will help you !

If u want to flash the stock Rom then download full Rom package I recommend 8.1.10 as it is the oldest firmware and you can update it to latest version, download mi flash tool extract the Rom file.in the extracted folder their will be another folder, copy that to any directory
Open mi flash tool select folder in that directory where you pasted, the folder within the extracted file and select CLEAN ALL in bottom right corner, and select flash, wait for the system to flash phone will automatically turn on!
By the way if you would have watched the video in my previous post, you had not asked me this?
Everything is explained in video!

In MiFlash choose "clean all" instead of "clean all and lock".

Root in order to increase battery on Pixel 3A or 3A XL?

I am wondering if it makes sense to root the Pixel 3A XL in order to remove system apps and increase battery? Has anyone come out with a ROm that is mostly just stock, but with all of the junked removed? I don't really need root access like most people do. I just want to use the basic features of the phone "camera, internet browsing, email, finger print reader, etc and get the most battery life possible. I use an app like greenify to kill apps but that doesn't work on system apps. Is LineagOS this sort of thing?
A custom kernel will do far more for battery savings then rooting will. And there are several Roms in various states of completion in the works right now, including my own but not very many I would consider ready for prime time and none Ive seen yet that are what youre looking for. Stock AOSP is very different then stock Google and typically when a Rom dev goes that far they also add lots of other customizations which may or may not be to your liking.

Agree. Custom kernel might be all you need at first.
I switched to a custom kernel by flair2 for a different reason, as I was looking for LZMA compression support for TWRP, but I'm quite happy with the battery benefits that kernel brought to my Pixel 3a. Battery on 10 is better than on Pie. I get roughly 10% better battery since updating. My guess is those experiencing it didnt clean flash 10 and just took the OTA.
Is there a guide that explains how to do that? I'm pretty inexperienced with all this.

A clean flash involves a factory reset. Be sure to back up any files to a different storage medium (PC, cloud, etc.) Once backed up, just use the factory image provided by Google.
Main page (has instructions): https://developers.google.com/android/images
3a December image: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/sargo-qq1a.191205.011-factory-c5ec22ee.zip
3a XL December image: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/bonito-qq1a.191205.011-factory-af411823.zip
The included .bat file (bat for windows, sh for Linux or Mac) is what you run. Be sure you get the latest fastboot drivers so you have no issues flashing in fastbootd. For future updates, just flash the stock boot image before taking the update or download the next month's image and delete the -w flag in the bat/sh file. That is the wipe switch.

I started using EX kernel on 9 to get permanent TWRP, but still using it now on 10, where we don't have TWRP. So I like that kernel a lot.
