Discussion Regarding T-Mobile's Free Galaxy Tab E Promo - T-Mobile Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

There seems to be quite a lot to talk about regarding this topic in the Note 7 Waiting Room...so let's talk about it here! Some people seem to have gotten lucky (possibly) and received the Tab completely free, other's can't get a Rep to add the promo for them at all.
Discuss away!

I can see the promo for the Tab E but what about the Tab A? Can't find any info on that.
Additionally - Has anyone been able to get the Tab E without canceling their preorder through chat?

I haven't been able to get any tab action due to a pre-order on the 4th... No Love

Try calling in until you find a rep that will give it to you. I tried chat on Sat and they denied me.

I pre-ordered at 9pm on 8/2 and was able to get a Tab E earlier. Just keep on calling and hope to get a rep that will give it to you, it took me two calls.

Order mine yesterday at noon and it just came UPS. I placed my pre order on 8/3 around noon. No problem with rep at all. Keep trying

Are you sure the rep also didn't change your preorder?

Did you have to add data to this tablet or can you just get it and use it over WiFi?

I had not yet pre-ordered the 7 when I saw this promo. I just went to the store Sunday and, interestingly, they first gave me the Tab A and told me they didn't have the E in stock. Then they called around and found a store with one in stock. It's not a great tablet, but solid enough. Basically, you keep a $10 per month data plan in place and you then get a credit against the monthly EIP. Bottom line is you get the tablet for free. The E comes with Marshmallow installed and a slightly better processor and larger battery. If they try to give you the bait and switch, I'd stick with the Tab E.

I went to the T-Mobile store to order my Note 7 and they had the Tab promo also with the Tab E's in stock so I got a Tab E for $10/month with 2gb data, probably hot spot it off the Note 7 since I have 6gb on the Phone's data plan. I use the Tab E as an 8 inch GPS on a Ram Mount in the vehicle. I was using a Note Pro 12.2 but that is the worst tablet I have ever had. It has over heating issues running basic apps.. So far the Tab E is working great, But I don't like the really low PPI of the screen on the Tab E. It stinks.

I'm using the Note Pro 12.2 right now, and while it used to overheat, after I rooted it and used a modified stock ROM (CivZ) it no longer overheats, though it still has a weird bug where it randomly reboots or the screen flickers if the battery is under 50%, which is retarded. But it's otherwise been a decent tablet.
I wasn't aware they were/are doing a promo for a free tablet, Ipre-ordered mine online and paid for the full thing since Ididn't want my monthly bill to go up anymore.

Anyone gotten the tablet offer with JOD?

Yes I did, I did a JOD about three days ago, and called back yesterday and the very nice rep helped me right away, said she did the same thing ordered the 7 first then did the promo. took a few minutes.

I called 611, my area is a bit strange we only have one store for about 100 miles and they are the biggest jerks in the world. I wanted to get JOD, and they said NO they wouldnt do it for me. So I never go in to the store, and they must have it noted on my account because they are very nice to me, and I have complained about their store multiple times.

I did a pre-order for a Note 7 on Aug 4th. I saw in the forums that others were getting the promotion for the free Galaxy Tab E, so I called tmobile two days ago. A very polite rep looked into it, but said that she couldn't help me without me cancelling my Note 7 order first (which I had no interest in doing). After the call, tmobile sent me a survey, and I answered honestly that their inconsistency with giving some the promotion (even when they ordered on Aug 3rd or Aug 4th, without having to cancel their original order) and not to others was just poor customer service.
Today a manager at tmobile customer service had seen my survey, and wanted to discuss it. After I explained what had happened, she was extremely helpful in getting me onto that promotion. The way she explained it was that tmobile would send me the tablet for free, and that I would see a charge for $10 a month for monthly service, and also a credit from tmobile for $10 a month for 24 months, making the tablet and service "free" (I do have to add an extra line on my account). The only difference to my order from others that I've read about here is that I only get 200mb of free data, while others have said that theirs comes with 2gb. Either way, I'll be on wi-fi or tethered to my mobile hotspot, so it isn't a concern.

Got my Tab E last night and sent it back this morning, I decided to keep my Tab S2 and use the $240 (2yr 2gb contract) towards the new Gear S3 watch when it comes out.

I finally got this thing rooted
For those who would like to root follow these instructions and makes sure you have oem unlock on in developer options.
1. With ODIN 3.10.7 flash TWRP 3.0.2.0
Here
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24665509702140789
2. DO NOT let the device reboot. You need to boot directly into TWRP by holding pwr+vol up+home as soon as ODIN is finished flashing. You gotta be super quick.
3. Swipe to allow modifications
4. Once in TWRP flash SUPERSU- 2.76
Here

5. Reboot

[DISCUSSION] Note 7 Return Experience

Everything went smooth, got my loaner which was the crappy J7 and pre-ordered that other phone (cough) But when I checked my account I see they tried to play me! She removed my Jump 1.0 and put me on Jump 2.0 so I called 611 ASAP and got that changed back. Why the heck would I want to have to pay half of the device off before I can jump? The way it's setup now I get 2 upgrades a year. I always get one in May and then another in August which is only 3 months so I only make 3 payments on my phone and then I get to jump again. Got the HTC 10 in May, jumped to the Note 7 in August and T-Mobile pays off the $594 I owed on the HTC 10. I remember when I first got with T-Mobile I waited 9 months before my first jump so I'm guessing that's why I get a jump at 9 months, then again after 3 months but I like it like that.
I refuse to accept a crappy J7 phone as a substitute for the most expensive phone they had in their stores. I've spent the past six days either at the store, on the phone or on Twitter and have absolutely nothing to show for my effort.
Sunday, the store said they couldn't do anything, to call customer service. Monday I called and requested an S7 Edge. They ordered an S7 instead which was supposed to be shipped overnight. Tuesday when I didn't get the confirmation email, I went on Twitter. I told them I wanted an S7 Edge, and they told me that once the EIP is signed, it's a done deal. When the phone didn't show shipped Wednesday morning, back on Twitter. I again told them I wanted an S7 Edge. I finally got someone who said OK, we'll get you an S7 Edge, we'll stop UPS from delivering the S7 and we'll overnight it. Thursday came with no tracking information on the S7 Edge. Back on Twitter. I was told that the Edge would ship Thursday overnight. Today, no Edge. Come to find out they're out of them. One representative said to turn the Note 7 in at the store and pick any phone they have. The other wanted me to call a phone number to arrange for a loaner.
This has been the most focked up customer service experience in my life. I want to flame T-Mobile on every venue that I can.
when i did the same they literally called the 800# and handed me one of their personal cell phones and had me set up the exchange with corporate. I have my Note 7 until they send me both an S7 edge and the replacement Note 7. Once the replacement note 7 shows i have to return my old note 7. Really just means i have 2 phones for a while

She had a email with all the steps they were supposed to follow so I didn't argue but the J7 does suck lol. They have my account all screwed up now, and I have a balance of -$488 some how so I ain't gonna complain lol. But I would like to know how each T-Mobile store in my area (4 within a few miles of each other) only got 1-3 regular iphones each while the lines were around the building lol. This was the absolute dumbest launch for a phone I have ever seen.

If you had held out for the S7 or S7 Edge you would have been eligible for either a VR or a 256 gig SD card. You have a receipt and a ESIN because you essentially bought the loaner they're supposed to credit back when the replacements come in.
I already got the card with the Note 7. I want the VR.
My account is also all screwed up! I have a balance of almost $1000. not sure how that is, when my normal bill is around $240 and paid in full long before the due date.
With this fiasco tmobile ****ed up my bill somehow... Someway... So won't be putting my hands in any loaner. I got a note 7...it is a note 7 I will return. The funny part is I did a normal jump 1...first and last time I do that over the phone.

Mines the same way, but -649 instead of -1300. Called and they said it was the EIP refund for the n7 for when I got the s7e and it'll clear up on the next bill. If you had 2 n7's that makes sense, as it's double what mine is.

Went to exchange my Note 7 with the s7 edge (loaner) at my t mobile store. Before I went up there I called and asked if they have silver Note 7 for exchange and the girl said yes. Short story is I wait inline for 45 minutes just to hear that samsung never sent any silver phones. I called 3 other stores near me and NO ONE has silver, I also cannot exchange my silver for a black. WTF
My store would exchange my silver for blue (which I didn't want) but i decided to get it anyway. sat there my entire lunch hour and still didn't get to the desk. another store just hasn't got any yet. the third has them locked in the safe and won't sell/exchange them until they hear from "upper management" tried twitter and calling for support and was told that exchanges can only be done in store. oh and the other store I called said that I could exchange it, but i'd have to bring in the box, which i don't have, so that's nice. they sent me a survey for my call, that was a mistake.
you guys think you had a bad experience?
I have the original jump. I returned my note 7, I still show it on my EIP plan (so i'm still paying for it), my note 5 shows that i haven't returned it in time. Oh... and to top it all off who here got threatened for not returning the phone with the box?

You should let corporate know and that Dumb ass should get fired.
As far as my return, I just returned my Note 7 yesterday for a refund. My account currently shows -747.50 and there is no EIP for the Note 7 on my account anymore. Now I just need to wait for everything to get squared away which T-Mobile is slow at doing. I too have the original Jump 1 plan and will be watching closely to make sure they don't screw it up. My Note 5 also shows that it was not returned but that is the only EIP I have now. Returning the phone was painless and the girl training the guy knew exactly what to do.

Samsung could be looking at another recall...

According to this article....
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/10/samsung-note-7-second-round-recalls/?utm_source=mobilerepublic
Sprint is also letting users switch there Note 7 for ANY phone.
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/10/sp...swap-for-any-phone/?utm_source=mobilerepublic
If there is another recall I might go ahead and get the Pixel XL.

Verizon should step up and do the same thing as Sprint. At this point, the Note 7 should just be taken off the market.
I'd like the pixel XL, but the Verizon is adding bloatware and handling updates on their version. Do some research on the absolute disaster that was the last time Verizon had a Nexus. It's a total joke.

Whoops Samsung! The Pixel phones look decent. Not sure why they decided to only go with IP53 rating but how often do you really jump in a pool with a phone rated higher anyways. When I had my Note 7 it was a pretty cool phone. I started to get used to the edge screen by the time I took it back to Verizon. I switched to an iPhone 7 Plus 256 and it's pretty damn sweet. I have been experiencing some Cell and GPS issues so I might have to go to an Apple store and have them replace my phone. I signed up for the beta program and have iOS 10.1 beta 2 which now includes the depth of field dual camera effect that they demoed in the keynote. I have a feeling that we are going to see a lot of phone problems over the next few years as these big manufacturers try to beat each other to the punch each year with their new products.

yea, this is totally crazy that Verizon has already said that they'll allow people to exchange their notes, during the initial recall they waited forever to even acknowledge that there was a problem, even though we were all receiving text messages from Samsung telling us to take the phone back.
Let's sit and think for just a minute. Other than whining about some app not working or not being able to root the damn thing, nobody on XDA has reported any type of problem with their Note 7 smoking. Most of us here a capable of doing some really stupid stuff trying to make things go faster and yet nobody burned one up? This seems more like the press making something out of nothing and some of you just wanting a V20 or a 7 Plus or a Pixel. Ya know what, in 5 months there will be something even newer and faster....... Get over it already.

Nah, I don't think that is it. I think people don't want to worry about there phone burning down there house, exploding in a hotel room, a plane, etc.
I think we can all agree that the relative failure rate is very small however if you are on the receiving end of that failure... It could be explosive
Im not turning my current Note 7 in until Samsung confirms that the issue with the plane is not isolated and is recall worthy.

Has the investigation even finished yet? We really need to wait for the results, for all we know it was a random occurrence that just happened to be a Note 7, or the person did something to cause it to do that. I guess that's the nature of our instant, always on world, news flows out before anybody has actually checked it.

This is still on the website, with no mention of any new exchanges or recalls. There is also no word on this from U.S. Cellular, the other carrier selling the Note 7.

Either that, or they're just caught up in the hysteria, and want to take advantage of it to get people in the stores to sell them things.

Yep. Expect that to change. A source at att tonight stated the company is debating pulling them from sales now.

I agree with this statement I will hang on to my PH1 note as long as I can. I have not had any discharge or heat issues since I got it on the 27th as a new phone (I was not part of the recall).
Latest on att (carrier of the phone in the latest incident) along with Samsung statement

I think this is sabotage. Yes the first event was no doubt real. I also saw several news and forum reports about another exploding phone and it ended up being a totally different device. I'm just worried if I keep this phone I love, and all production and sales are halted, we may never see updates or support ever. That I may not be able to live with.
I spoke to two Verizon corporate stores last night and neither one knew anything about being able to exchange the replacement Note 7's.

My guess is they need a couple days to get the message out. I also suspect att is going to force Samsung's hand by the end of next week with their Friday deadline.
Also, take this report with a grain of salt too...but another reported safe phone is alleged to have popped.

Fraud or otherwise, Samsung caused this damage, and it's only going to stop with them.

Reps over the phone seems to know what's going on more than anyone else, I finally had gotten my replacement and it was fine. The phone it self was a great phone but my family and most all my friends are apple users which left me in the dark. I was also having issues finding a tempered glass with the edges and when the otterbox defender came out I had isssues with that as well, it drove me crazy. Battery life was honestly okay but felt that it should have been better. Long story short me and the wife weighed my options with the phone and I decided to get rid of it by edging up and getting a matte black iPhone 7 256gb. Don't flame me yet, money isn't a issue so I paid about $396 to get out of that phone. Of course this was around the time when the whole plane thing happened too. I didn't think they were going to open another investigation on it but since they did I guess I'll be the first to confirm that Verzion will return or exchange your replacement Note7 for any other smart phone. I found out last night when I called them about it and they did agree and state they were letting customers get something else and I'll also be getting my edge up money back which is perfect. I don't love my iPhone but I don't hate it either, I will say battery life on this thing BLOWS the note7 out of the water. I haven't been able to kill this thing yet and with heavy usage about (21hours) I only drop to 50%. Anyhow if you guys are looking to get into something else like the pixel phones or iPhone or whatever nows the time to do it. I might be picking up a pixel on the side just to have later down the road but of course a unlocked version.....
The only way I will give up my Note 7 is if they make a mandatory recall and will not provide service for the phone. In my opinion there is no other phone on the market with the same options and styling.

Is this the best choice

So I had to return my phone note 7 stupid recall. I got the s7 edge t mobile is it the best phone to get or wait for the v20 or something else thank you
I'm in the same boat.... I'm going with the S7 Edge... samsung pay and gear vr are things I don't want to go without... plus samsung oled screens are so good, i have a hard time using anything with an IPS screen.
Same here grabbed s7 edge. At least 256 card works.

Agreed. The Note 7 was great, and this is not so much.
A friend reminded me, too late, of the S6 Edge+. No water resist, no SD card, but bigger, faster, better sound than the S7 Edge. I have to have SD card, so I might not have gone that way, but it's a great phone for the money. Can be had on eBay for $300.
Seme here , I'm on s7 edge it's not to bad , I like it
S7 beats S6. I had both.

S7e isn't a bad phone. It's the note7 minus spen and iris scanner. The screen difference feels negligible in hand ( my s7e almost fit my n7 case perfectly...... )
I'm not happy with losing the n7 but T-mobile is taking care of me. I'm technically buying the s7e on installment but any money put towards the s7e will be applied to the n7 ( or n8 ) when it comes back out and I will be able to return the s7e regardless the time frame......since I was a pre-order and already had mine at launch.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I'm also a Note 7 refugee. While this wasn't my first choice it's not that bad. They also extended the promotion for the SD card and the VR headset. I'm ok till the Note 8 comes out.

They noted my account that this was a loaner phone that I'm paying on. I was one of the original pre orders who received my phone and had to bring it back a week later for the recall. I was given the option of waiting overnight for a Loaner to be shipped or buy something in store and have it credited on the first recall replacement n7. The first replacement which was supposed to take a few weeks never came. I called 611 frantic worried I'd be stuck with an expensive phone I didn't want. They said my account was noted this was a replacement and a temporary device only due to the recall and even if it took a year I was safe to return it for a full refund ( or apply the refund to another phone ).

Try and get an S7 Edge now. On back order until November. I ordered last week and it states it shipped but it's been on its way to UPS going on 5 days now. I guess the little old lady with the broken hip is crawling to UPS.

When I took mine back for the recall, there was a 2 day window where they issued a loaner but had to mail it out. I'm guessing they ran out of loaners. I opted for option 2 because I couldn't wait overnight. Basically they returned the note7 and had me put the s7e on the EIP instead. During that window, they made a note on my account that this was a temporary loaner type device until the note7 was released again. Several weeks passed and I didn't get a call from my retailer. I went in and one of the reps said they were likely pulling all note7 and stopping sales..... he could overnight one for me but I'd likely have to return that one too. I said I'd wait for the issue to be resolved. Went home, called 611 and threw a fit because I don't want to be stuck with an $800 phone I didn't want. The customer service rep said he would feel the same way too and checked my account. He said that my s7e IS showing as a loaner device.
I then asked him what it the n7 isn't released after waiting a year. At that point the s7e would be halfway paid off ( $400 Ish applied to the EIP ). He said that because I paid for the s7e as a loaner that all money applied to it would be reimbursed / put towards a note 7 ( or comparable device ...such as a note 8 ). I specifically asked what if it took a year....and he said the account is noted and I have nothing to worry about.
The following day I went to my T-mobile retailer and spoke to the manager ( excellent at customer service by the way ). I told him I already knew about the 2nd recall and wanted him to confirm about the loaner s7edge I'm paying on. He went into the account notes and saw where the 611 rep noted whenever a replacement n7 ( or comparable device ) was available, the s7e would be fully refunded.
I breathed a sigh of relief. The manager did my preorder on my n7 so he was already aware of everything. As long as my account is noted I'm good to go he said regardless the time frame.
Hopefully he is still there at the same location a year from now so it's easier. Lol

Got Note 7 originally made in China??? KEEP IT NOT AFFECTED PER SPRINT TECH

Staying.. I just left Sprint ,,,its only voluntary. I was told check the back of your phone if it says made in China.... keep it. Its not in any danger any more than anyother lithium ion battery pho which is all cell phones. I actually got an original made in china the first time apolied the green battery update and not looking back. We'll just have to wait for S7 edge to get an update port it over and install all the SPen apps and keep going.

considering the recall was extended because supposedly these made in china replacement phones were still having problems, you might want to ignore what some store told you. Appears they have 0 clue what they are talking about. lol.

I just flew they told me to power my note 7 down that was it
Social media killed the Note 7 not Samsung. The hand was forced because people blew it out of proportion! I still have my day one Note 7 (which is the china version) and I haven't had any problems and doubt I will. People just kept sharing it and the media kept fueling the fire. I don't plan on giving my phone up. They'll have to deactivate them in order for me to consider something else. I'll just end up paying full price to buy the next Note if they decide not to deactivate them.
I'm not giving mine up either. We need to start a root bounty. It's unlikely that any of the good devs will put any work in, but maybe. This phone has potential to be a cult classic. I saw that someone actually got CM 13 working on the exynos Note 5, so maybe that could happen here. I hate this locked bootloader. Sprint has always played nice until recently. I emailed Chainfire and begged him to find a root method, but I never got a response. You guys should email him too.
Out of all the note 7 owners left, no one is capable of rooting it? I just got a message today from sprint, with a video nonetheless telling me i will experience service interruptions if i don't return it

Interesting that I didn't get that message. Rooting won't help service interruptions from Sprint. If you can unlock to use on a different carrier then it's a different story.

Galaxy Note 7 will be disabled via update in the US on December 19

For thoose that still have a Note 7 ... http://www.sammobile.com/2016/12/09...disabled-via-update-in-the-us-on-december-19/
Sprint just filed a refund of $400 for the 2 year contract price of our Note 7 and reset upgrade eligibility despite it being eligible.
I was hoping to hold out for S7 Edge price drop or the S8. I'd prefer not to downgrade to a year old phone at this point.
The $75 credit is enticing, but the S7 Edge is still $299 on 2-year contract so it's a token gesture. I'll just wait for the S8.
The text I got from Sprint today said beginning Jan 8 the Samsung death update will start being pushed out. The update will stop the ability to charge the phone and remove mobile functionality.

Confirmed, this appears to work. I just got off the phone with Samsung. I was told that they are sending a shipping box and I have to return the phone. 10 - 14 days after they receive it, I will get a check for the full amount plus $35 (case & screen protector). i still have my Note 5 so that should get me by until the S8 comes out.

lol, just find it funny. I am sure the phones being fairly locked down has a large role to play, but the majority of people on these forums anymore have such a small level of understanding of how everything works compared to even 3-4 years ago.

I rooted using the Super Leaky Bros method. I'm using the userdebug root with the PH9 firmware add-on (or whatever its called.) Literally everything works perfectly (including S-Pen.) But I don't think Samsung/Android Pay will work since its rooted.
so, you guys gunna get the S8+ or wait for the Note 8?
