anyway to remap nav bar buttons on Moto Z Force - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

I'm trying to see if this can be done. I'm used to having the back and recents swapped... If someone knows, please let me know

Request for Root Notification Thread

I propose that a "Root Notification Thread" be set up, stickied, and closed to further comments until root has been achieved, so that forum-goers may subscribe to notifications for the thread as opposed to obsessively checking back every day or so.
This seems better than a 3rd party notification solution since XDA already has our email addresses and is more secure than most other methods.
It also may assuage the torrents of unwanted children running amok in the forums, who seem to be responsible for the recent craziness.

I agree, this would be good. That way I can actually get work done and get my boss off my back and make him stop yelling at me for using the internet for personal uses

Very clever idea, esp. since most anyone who wants instant push/notification of e-mails already have it set up. I made a special growl alert on my Mac Mini that will notify me of any e-mail coming from XDA (I have it setup for follow-post notifications only so I won't get falsely excited by a PM or something) whilst playing an mp3 of "Jarabe Tapatío" (aka "The Mexican Hat Dance")... I have no idea why I picked that song but it seemed fitting =p.

So theoretically you'd like to wait 3 extra hours before being notified of a definitive root? :~P
A root notification thread would only serve to instantly alert those who wish to be informed the exact moment root is achieved.
Has someone requested this from a mod yet?

luckily since there are 8 of us in this office with Droid Incredibles (all ex moto droid users) I am sure the news will be just about instantaneous when it happens. All of us miss doing our custom roms and wifi tether... Heck, I just reacquired a moto droid from an employee that quit just so I could swap ESN's back and forth and have the wifi tether when I need it.
a notification thread to let you know when root is available is over at androidforums.com.
I would like a thread that is locked, so nobody can add comments, and it has all the different way devs have tried to gain root. but the only problem is deciding who is in charge of scoring the net to see what ppl have tried and if they tried it or they are making it up.
I say us "non devs" just wait till HTC "gives" us a Rom like they did with the Eris

Anyway to stop the verizon media page when mounting phone to PC?

This is really down right annoying. Every single time I plug my phone in to the usb port, a Verizon Media page loads. Is there anyway to stop this?
I'm guessing the search button was broken?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775003
Right click on the moto icon and change the option there.. its in the bottom right task bar
I even called verizon and ask them WTF and they are like "i never heared of this before" and the even transfered me to level 2 and they still didnt know

hey dude seriously though, one night i spent hours trying to search for something before i made a post. and it doesn't help that one must wait thirty seconds before searching again, and low and behold someone already posted a thread about it. the only thread in the whole forum i'm guessing, but yet i wasn't able to find it only because my words were not exactly that of the original thread. My point being is that this is a cool website where people go to help each other out. and the only thing i find more annoying than multiple threads resembling the same subjects, is the one person trolling around slapping links to other threads while being unnecessarily rude about it. if this is really all the better you can do to be polite in this forum then maybe you should switch to apple and continue to hold yourself above others and have it be accepted by the elitist peers you would gain. other than that do the world a favor and play nice. please.

I found his initial post with the link to be more of a friendly poke, rather than trolling or being rude. That smiley at the end made all the difference

Thanks....there's a button.

K....this may get closed and/or flamed beyond recognition ....LOL....but here it is.
Not talking about myself here, cause I'm not near as active in the Moto x forum as I was in the t989 S2 forum. Mostly because I'm still learning all the ins and outs of this phone.....
I'm posting this on behalf of the Moto x unsung heros .....we all know who a few of them are, and there's some that go way above and beyond helping others....and many more that help some people tremendously......and I'm noticing a lot of "awesome, you're a life saver....thanks so much" comments, yet a giant lack of thanks given. I mean the thanks button. Not the typed words.
I know many will barge in here and say its not about racking up thanks totals you arrogant ass...LOL.........and it definitely isn't. BUT....hitting that button is a great way to let others see that this very helpful person has helped so many out...as indicated by his thanks number. It makes some feel good too....seeing that number rise. Petty? Some may say....but get a bunch for yourself....It does make you all warm and fuzzy seeing that people appreciate your help.
Anyway.....the reason I started this thread..... was simply a better alternative to singling people out in the threads and starting trouble, or making someone feel bad who's new and didn't know it even existed. Lol
The S2 community was more tightly nit I think and people weren't stingy with the thanks button....especially when someone went out of their way to help. But here in the X forum, there is handful of extremely helpful guys not getting thanked over and over....it astonishes me sometimes (won't name names....but a lot of us can think of a few I'm sure) and I just finished reading a thread where one of these good Samaritans posted back and forth helping a guy...not one sentence posts....huge long ones with very detailed help....and the guy did say thanks....but never thanked any of the good Samaritans posts. Not one.
Anyway....flame me to pieces if you'd like ....but come on guys....lets show people our appreciation in a way that follows that helpful guy anywhere he goes on xda. That's exactly why the button exists.
And no.....I don't expect thanks on this post. LOL. As I said....I'm no guru on the X.....yet.....I'll earn my thanks as I deserve them....or not.

Couldn't agree more. Even some of the smallest mods that we take for granted (let alone Roms and Feature addition) take lots of hours and effort. A single click of the "Thanks" button isn't something one should have to ask for.

Why? I started doing it back when I was doing a lot of development for various devices. I would sell one, stop developing for it, and then get constant PMs asking if I still had this device or that device and which device I was switching too. I don't need to do it anymore, but it's kind of addictive.
I like listing my devices, but if I started doing it again I'll probably use the
function.
I wish people would use the Thanks button more too. It costs nothing to do it and it's quicker than a post. You'll help let people know which posts are useful, contribute to the decluttering of threads and you get a warm feeling of boosting someone's e-rep. The only downside is that you're limited to X amount per day(IIRC). I should make that into a sig...maybe.

Lots of people do, lol. You just gotta be patient (I know, that is tough for most). Once it is safe we shall get it.
Until then just think of all the goodies you can add to the device and maybe come up with a gameplan of what you plan to do for customizing it (Hey at least it is something to keep your mind a little occupied)
Yeah, I am using my gs4 until then ( i bought it for the promo) I was going to wait. I'm going to be adding to that lgg4 root prize pool I think
Yeah I know, not rushing anyone. It's just I see so much potential in this phone once it gets cracked open. Also wanted to show a little positivity instead of all the various complaints. Things with this phone are good and will be even better so let's focus on that.
ok we could close this thread now!
A lot of people are in the same boat as can be seen in multiple threads within the G4 section. I think you got your point across so not much need for me to keep this thread open
Thread closed

Hopefully this will speed the root process!

Not sure if there's any creed to this post, but if so it certainly seems like someone with a a bit more knowledge than me will be able to get us a root sooner than later!
Root ANY device?
jcase and others have a wsy to root. They are working on making the process safe for everyone. You just have to be patient. According to the cubed(hopefully I spelled it right) projected 1-3 weeks. I just don't want the devs get pissed and say to everyone DO ONE

This is not from a rooting team. This is from the italian company "Hacking Team" which is offering professional hacking-tools to their customers (also governments).
This company was hacked and all their exploits got published. This android stuff is one of many repositories with exploits of this company.

Yeah I'm aware they have root and they've had it for over a month with no release so they obviously haven't been successful in making it safe for everyone. Hopefully now instead of being a closed club we can have additional talented devs helping to speed the process along. It's not a slight against the guys that are working on it, but at the same time why limit ourselves to the 3-4 talented guys that are working on it when we have an entire community willing and (many) able to help.

Yeah mine unfortunately has been laying on my desk unused other than using the camera for the past couple weeks. I've been using my S6 in the meantime and grabbing the G4 when I know I'm going to want to take pictures. I want to like the phone and it's got so much potential but every time I swap my SIM into it within 20 minutes the same old problems rear their head and I use it for whatever I'm doing and then go back to the S6 :/

The devs working on it are some of the best in this community. Disrespecting them like that won't make it any better for us. Different devs work on different brands of phones. You're more than welcome to find your own method of root of you don't like their precautionary process.

That's why I said they're very talented guys, the fact remains there are no results to show though. As I also said specifically, it's not a slight or disrespect against them in the least. I'm just pointing out that the more of these talented guys that we have working on it the better. I'm not sure why you feel the need to turn up in every thread pertaining to root for the G4 and try to derail it by ****ting on whatever the thread is about? Unless you've got a more constructive comment to provide I'd appreciate you not derailing this thread so that it gets closed as all the others have.
If I were able to come up with my own root method I would've. Since I'm not a developer and have little knowledge of these things I'd like to provide links like the one in the OP to those that can make better use of it than me as my contribution to the forum. If you have your own method of coming up with root or using the provided information usefully then please do, otherwise carry on.

Whether you think it wasn't, your comment was a dig at them. I don't "sh1t" on root threads. The only threads I input my frustration on are the people who keep repeating the same stuff that's been explained over and over again. You should take your own advice about constructive comments. Like I said, if you aren't happy with what the current devs are doing then find a root method yourself. They don't HAVE to do anything for us. They do this on their own time and don't have unlimited hours a day to work on things. Patience is a virtue. Root will be here within a couple weeks or less. If other devs want to take this and run with it, so be it, but it's not up to us to voice our opinions and commentary when we aren't donating any of our time and abilities in this community.

As a friendly suggestion, boosting1bar, maybe use "other" instead of "more" when positing something similar to this sentence, "Hopefully now instead of being a closed club we can have more talented devs helping to speed the process along." I get what you meant to say, but to some, it might read as a qualitative statement (as in developers with "more" talent than the ones being referred to), rather than a quantitative one (i.e. additional developers).

When I read your post, I saw how people could misinterpret it, but I thought about it like this; A nicely packaged one-click-root from the current devs would be great, but if I could have root tomorrow, I wouldn't mind needing to stick my fingers in the guts of the android like the old days.
I'll risk a brick for a quick and dirty solution!

I get that, but because of the way it was worded, it was clearly interpreted otherwise. Hence my suggestion.
As for "other" being more offensive, I'm not sure I see how, unless you elaborate. To me "other" would imply "other developers in addition to the ones mentioned." But I suppose there are always "other" ways to interpret it.
I will digress here, as I would prefer this thread be steeped in the semantics of rooting our common device as opposed to being bogged down in the semantics of intent.
