Google Voice Compatible - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

So the Android Authority review said that the dialer is not compatible with Google Voice. This is huge for me. Can someone test this? Try a 3rd party dialer?

But if you put the phone to your ear, it lets you use voice commands to choose who to dial.

Sorry, but that has nothing to do with Google Voice. What you are referring to is the voice feature of Google Now. Thanks for the reply though

Going off of the article, I think that it means that you are unable to route Google Voice calls via the stock app. Some potential work-arounds might be to use Hangouts Dialer to make calls and/or if possible, download the stock Android dialer APK or a 3rd party dialer and make all Google Voice calls through that instead.
Will have to wait for more information/reviews to see what the full extent of it is.

That is what I figured, but this is very strange. This is the very same issue I have on my Mate 8. Unfortunately, at least for the Mate 8, using a 3rd party dialer does not resolve the issue. Hangouts dialer lacks noise cancellation and other essential features.

How does google voice and the hangouts dialer differ?

It routes your calls via your carriers normal network, for example VOLTE or 2G. It also allows your device to use it's native noise cancelling features, which are much more optimized than Hangouts Dialer

How can I read and reply to SMS messages from my tablet?
I saw an app in the Android Market called SyncMS.
The latest reviews said it is not working as it should.
I'd hate to purchase it and not having working properly.
Has anyone tried it, or know of another app and method that works?

you can use remote web desktop, and its free too.
I'd take a look at DeskSMS.
I use google voice and works great even had an updated version today.

Don't you need to be US-based to set up/make use of a Google Voice account though?

I have syncsms and it works fine but you need dropbox as well as the messages go through it. Another good one is textab. That one connects phone through bluetooth instead of using dropbox. Pretty handy.

Thanks. I've never heard of Textab. It didn't show up in apps that were related to SyncSMS either.
Which do you prefer between the two?

I think textab is flipping awesome. Ridiculously easy to set up and use. There's a trial version in the market and the full version is available for $2
I use Tablet Talk and it has worked great so far. You can sync via bluetooth or through your wifi network.

I used to use this on my PC. Didn't know they came out with a tablet version.
I like how I can see and reply to all of messages, as well as share text clipboard between my phone and tablet.

Look for texttab in market and try the free verson first. If you get it working I is great.

Textab and Tablet Talk are both nice. Tablet Talk seems to have more features. I have both up and running. Trying to decide which one I want to keep.

Thanks for the link and info!!!
This app is awesome. Dev is working hard on future updates too.
I also like how it alerts me for incoming calls. That way I will know who the call is from, and will be able to get to my phone to answer it.

True but I can't root this particular phone.
I'm also noticing Google plus is crashing a lot since the update.

It's the xposed module and yes it does work. Somewhere in the settings, I can't remember. I think it's in the security hacks section of xposed.
It is in wanam under security.
Does anyone know if AT&T's statement regarding allowing video chat apps that come preloaded on AT&T phones to once again work over their mobile network by the end of 2013 applies to Google Hangouts? I know they were addressing the outrage associated with them blocking Facetime...but it seems like it should apply to Hangouts also. I can't get an answer from AT&T, everyone I've talked to with customer service didn't even know what Google Hangouts was.
Note 3 -- Tapatalk version [HORRIBLE.1x]
It seems like Hangout uses the actual phone number from the carrier to send and receive SMS even though it was my Google Voice number that was confirmed after the update. I have tried sending SMS from Hangout but my friend did not receive it on the other end.
I had AT&T blocked all text messages since switching to Google Voice when they told me that they would only offer unlimited text message plan. Yea, I was annoyed enough to go change my number on all my friend's contact list. SMS from AT&T itself isn't blocked and those are the ones that show up in Hangout.
The latest Hangouts update allows me to use over mobile data BTW.

Is it me or does it not work right with vzw???? Doesn't give you the text of the voice mail....

It shows the text transcripts for me in the Google voice app.

Better Youmail. I do use Google Voice for my home voice mail but it last so many features and options that Better Youmail have. One frustrating part on GV is in Voicemail you cannot select multiple items to del...which at the least a very simple task but not there...

Does it give you an error because of vzw not supporting the set up????
Galaxy Note 3
It does when you initially set it up but just click to make Google voice your vm service and it still works. You do have to actually go on a computer to set up Google voice the first time to activate or turn it on. Sorry it has been a while. But I have used this on my N3 and thunderbolt and it worked well on both.

anybody uses a Visual Voicemail in canada with Android?
Is there an app which automatically calls the provider VM number and download the VM as mp3 or other audio file?
There's an app in the play store called nexus visual voicemail.
It doesn't trigger Verizon recognizing that you have a voice mail app so it will send you a text saying you have a VM

I've been using phone fusion, now called visual voicemail plus, for years and no complaints.
Does the job, and does it well.

On my dialer there is a record button. Refer screen shot

Hm I don't have that. Is that a third party add-on?
Ooppss...sorry my bad...I am actually using a custom rom which maybe has included call recording. I don't use this feature but I happen to see it in my dialer. Sorry again

Is your phone rooted or not?
If you are not try Call Recorder by skvalex on play store. It's very pricey though.

hi ,
iznee (post # 2) screenshot is quite correct !
My phone also has record ( N910F, Snapdragon ,root, stock rom ) and if you look at dailer interface it does not show, only when you have dialed a number and it connects it shows record "button "
If you don't have it then maybe it depends on Country or service provider ?
good luck
Well.. no record butano here...

In using "the call recorder" so by hidtechs. Works so far but a native solution might be better?
To "bat0nas" - Hi. I use this: Click Right Here and works very well No "Root" needed..
I use Total Recall (it was what I was using on my S4), and it seems to be working fine.

Call Recorder

Do you know a working call recording program for Huawei Nova?
I tried different but did not find 100% working. Or they record my voice, or on the other side, but never both.
