Hangouts Update - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General

Yay the new hangouts app is out! And still can't do video over cellular!

You can with xposed

True but I can't root this particular phone.
I'm also noticing Google plus is crashing a lot since the update.

It's the xposed module and yes it does work. Somewhere in the settings, I can't remember. I think it's in the security hacks section of xposed.

It is in wanam under security.

Does anyone know if AT&T's statement regarding allowing video chat apps that come preloaded on AT&T phones to once again work over their mobile network by the end of 2013 applies to Google Hangouts? I know they were addressing the outrage associated with them blocking Facetime...but it seems like it should apply to Hangouts also. I can't get an answer from AT&T, everyone I've talked to with customer service didn't even know what Google Hangouts was.
Note 3 -- Tapatalk version [HORRIBLE.1x]

It seems like Hangout uses the actual phone number from the carrier to send and receive SMS even though it was my Google Voice number that was confirmed after the update. I have tried sending SMS from Hangout but my friend did not receive it on the other end.
I had AT&T blocked all text messages since switching to Google Voice when they told me that they would only offer unlimited text message plan. Yea, I was annoyed enough to go change my number on all my friend's contact list. SMS from AT&T itself isn't blocked and those are the ones that show up in Hangout.

The latest Hangouts update allows me to use over mobile data BTW.

Google Voice is annoying...

I signed into Google Voice on my phone to check out what it was, then boom...it takes over my phone. I hit do not disturb because I think it'd revert everything back but instead it blocked all incoming phone calls/texts. So, I took Google Voice and signed out of it and now I have call screening (where I have to press 1 to accept calls) and I no longer receive texts...last I did was sign out then uninstall Google Voice. What the hell?
Running stock GRJ90 deodexed/rooted.
To completely disable it you have to sign into Google.com/voice and disable it in the settings

Me thinks someone doesn't know how to use a simple and immensely useful app/feature.
By the way, is it considered a bad thing to have Udon ramen noodles for breakfast if you're a broke bachelor?
I can't imagine using android phone without Google Voice.

So how do you stop annoying "press 1 to accept the call" feature, and retain the functionality of transcribed VM's and SMS?

For some odd reason I won't get any phone calls on my nexus now.
I will start looking through the GV settings...
I would recommend setting everything up on the web. I have my number integrated and don't even have the app installed

Have you tried a voodoo kernel?
On another note, I use GV for voicemail and voip when I want. On the first install it took over my entire phone buy after changing settings online I got it set up the way I wanted.

<3 i think the your problem is that you integrated your number when you install it instead of continuing press skip and then it will ask if you want to sign in with your gmail and follow the steps i had the same problem do not integrate!!1!!ONE!!
I'm finally able to use Google Voice without it taking over my device. After you've removed yourself from the software. You can go to the GV settings via the internet on your computer and just choose activate voice mail instead of choosing to integrate your device. Once this is done, open up GV on your device, and the first window allows you to skip the integration portion and allows you to just use it as Voicemail. BOOM!

I'll try this lol. I've got like 12 voicemails and can't get to them because I don't know my Sprint voicemail PIN. LOL
Question for Sprint customers who are using their Sprint number for their Google Voice account; are your Sprint mobile to mobile or anytime minutes accurate when using Google Voice?
Reason, I have seen complaints on other blogs, pertaining to inaccurate minutes usage and wondered if any of you have experienced this.
Best Regards!

Better Youmail. I do use Google Voice for my home voice mail but it last so many features and options that Better Youmail have. One frustrating part on GV is in Voicemail you cannot select multiple items to del...which at the least a very simple task but not there...

Does it give you an error because of vzw not supporting the set up????
Galaxy Note 3
It does when you initially set it up but just click to make Google voice your vm service and it still works. You do have to actually go on a computer to set up Google voice the first time to activate or turn it on. Sorry it has been a while. But I have used this on my N3 and thunderbolt and it worked well on both.

anybody uses a Visual Voicemail in canada with Android?
Is there an app which automatically calls the provider VM number and download the VM as mp3 or other audio file?
There's an app in the play store called nexus visual voicemail.
It doesn't trigger Verizon recognizing that you have a voice mail app so it will send you a text saying you have a VM

Verizon voicemail messages stop short

Just discovered an issue where once I select the voice mail message it starts playing as soon as I put the phone to my ear the screen flashes on and the voicemail stops playing - it'll play if I use speaker but not if I listen to it via the ear piece - it stops after a few seconds. Maybe proximity sensor issue?

No Clue. I just know it works. Remove it and vvm works fine, messages will play when the phone is brought to the face or when you cover sensors. Install Samsung Pay again and the vvm goes back to stopping after one-two-three seconds or when you cover the sensors.

Holy smokes! Disabling all Use Favorite Card settings in Samsung Pay worked. However, when I re-enabled all of them it did it again. So I disabled ONLY the "Screen Off" option and now my voicemails play correctly. Thanks EQUAKE.

Root cause of the issue possibly lies in how Nougat handles security permissions since there are reports from S6/S7/Note 5 owners with the same issues when they were updated to Nougat from Samsung. Visual VM app definitely needs updating.

Disabling screen off still has the VM bug for me - what works for me is if you leave Lock screen and screen off on but turn off Home SCreen. Bizarre I know.
I have the issue and don't have Samsung pay....
I disabled "Use Favorite Cards" lock screen and screen off only (Left Home Screen on) and it fixed it for me.

Google messages

When I switch from Samsung messenger to Google messenger my texts will no longer pop up on lock screen and don't get the blue light around the edge. All settings are identical for notifications between the 2 apps. . It did the exact same thing on my s7. Any ideas??

Native features like this are the reason why you get phones like the S8. HD voice and ways to recall messages and what not. I know the feeling though. I think these features should be included on all phones now a day.

Enable RCS on SM-N9860 Note20 Stock Messaging App

If your carrier supports RCS, you can follow this video to enable it on your Hongkong / Taiwan Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
For those who don't know what RCS is, it's a feature where you can send original quality photos, video and other large supported files using your phones messaging app. It's like iMessage.

For them to support it natively. Should not need google messages, as Samsung messages supports it, as long as the network provider has Universal advanced messaging.

I'm on verizon, was using google messages for chat, but turned it off. I'm missing too many messages. People will call and ask me if I got them, I check and status in chat just says "connecting". Have to force close and open messages again to connect, but the missed messages never make it through.

I'm very sorry for how this may sound..... BUT, you know you can change the "light- up" settings per each app in your settings right? Your phone doesn't have to light-up for each text message you receive, or any other app for that matter.
