Retla vs Retail - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder if there is any advantage in using a retail rom over a retla. I know both are retail, but retla is specific for latim america, and retail is world wide, something like the modem must differ, or have less bugs.
Anyone with retla rom has tried this shift?

I guess Latin America has different CID

Atrix Retail (non-carrier) SBF Image

Does such an pure unbranded, uncarriered SBF exist yet for the Atrix?
All phones I've purchased in the past were pure unbranded, uncarriered phones with no bloat, logos or anything, just the pure os with the manufacture installed crud (namely Nokia's mind).
the chinese and korean seem to have a pure firmware but SBFs could not be generally flashed, which means those branded by atnt can be only flashed with olyfr!
But! once bootloader unlocked,it is possible to flash anything!

Sounds hopeful then. I loved that flexibility with my Nokia N900, so fingers crossed!
brazil has 4 retail(lastest with 6.69.0 webtop) =) working better than american at&t firmware(be careful with radio if youll flash it)

So far probably retail France and retail Brasil. The problem right now with cross flashing is baseband mismatching as well as bootloader and /or ramloader incompatibility.

Never installed it myself so I honestly don't know.
I only downloaded and saved it just in case.
In Puerto Rico, only Claro sells the Moto Maxx afaik, but it is practically free of carrier bloat.
But I think Claro carrier firmwares usually have CL somewhere in the filename.

I just have one question: Is the mexican Lollipop OTA Update a soak test or a final build?
Thanks again for all the great contributions you've done to our beloved Moto Maxx.

Hi, is it possible to flash the India 5.0.2 firmware on the PR XT1225 device? Thanks
***[Possibly?] Stupid Question Time!!!! *** Can any Moto Maxx firmwares be flashed on any phone (I'm not talking about the Turbo at all), for instance if I have the Puerto Rican model can I flash a different XT1225 on to it? Or even the American XT1250? Thanks in advance and thank you for the thread, very very helpful! :silly:

Yes but you have to have bootloader unlocked and do it manually with fastboot not with rsd

Yes if you have a American Moto maxx you can flash other firmwares as long as you have unlocked bootloader but has to be manually and if you are using verizon signal might not work

I have an unlocked bootloader and have knowledge of flashing in fastboot (not with motorola devices but I'll figure it out ) but would you be able to flash the American firmware to one of the XT1225 models? If that is not possible, can you (or anyone for that matter) suggest a firmware for someone in the U.S. or do they all have similar LTE bands? I just ask because the phone I came from had varying LTE coverage depending on your fw. Thank for your reply!

Thank you sir, you are awesome I am on an international XT1225 and T-Mobile, carrier unlocked (of course) so I am going to try and flash the American (XT1250) firmware. From what I gather this should work as long as it's all flashed manually. If I am wrong, that's what backups are for! :silly:
Do I need unlock bootloader do flash them? i have a carrier Moto Maxx (Vivo Brasil) and I want to have Retail so I don't need to wait the carrier release their OTA.
I'va already flashed it (twice!) with retail but it still show the System Version as 21.11.9quark_retbr.rtbr.en.BR tefbr (is that tefbr in the end that worries me).
The lollipop OTA for Brasil retail has finally came but my phone doesn't update.
Can it be because I flashed the retail version without unlocked bootloader?

Well flashing the American Moto Maxx XT1250 firmware to my XT1225 resulted in a pop up message upon boot asking if I wanted to put it into global mode so I just went back to the Puerto Rican firmware. Does anyone know if activating global mode or w/e it exactly is called (global settings maybe?) will work? I don't know why I hit no, but I tried adding a T-Mo LTE APN and it just wouldn't save I am open to any suggestions or if it's just a bad idea to try I'd like to know as well. I don't know why I am so set on having the American firmware on my Moto Maxx, I guess it's just because I live in America, LOL :silly: anyways. If anybody has any input, even if it is calling me stupid for trying to flash the XT1250 to the XT1225 I'll accept any criticism or suggestions. Thanks in advance! :highfive:
XT1250 firmware on the XT1225 hardware really isn't a great idea - the hardware is different.
If anything I'd flash it to the Brazil or Mexico firmware so you can upgrade to 5.0.2.

You should have said yes, the non global mode on the 1250 it's CDMA for verizon and the global mode it's gsm/lte for the other networks like att and t-mobile.
Don't be afraid when testing another firmware you can pay with it because you can always go back to the original one.

Is this MM for XT1572 Single Sim Asia variant?

Hi,
Just saw the link to download this firmware XT1572_CLARK_RETASIA_DS_6.0_MPH24.49-18_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip, around 1.2GB. Been searching around but haven't seen anyone mentioned what it is. So just wanna ask if it upgrades my X Style XT1572 Single Sim Asia variant to MM? Thanks.
Pretty sure that's for the dual sim variant.

Yes the _DS_ means dual SIM which was primarily launched in India and hence has the RETASIA carrier, no news yet for Single SIM Retail Asia Firmware
How frustrating is it to be on 5.1.1 and no update in sight for single sim asian firmware and hardly any roms to flash.

Did anyone know the prefered region code for updates?

Hi,
may it's a little bit early, but does anyone know which region code (like 401 EU for M7, or 617 Gen Unlock/US for M9) will get the updates first?
best regards
So far it seems to be both the Taiwan 709 and WWE 401.

Are there any different firmware versions for H870?

Basically I want to make sure I'm running generic H870 firmware so I would get all the updates faster. Is there a list or something? I've tried searching but it's either for different G6 versions or just a list of H870 updates by region, not the version names themselves. I would really appreciate that!
EDIT: Okay, found the list. Now which one should I use? https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h870-firmwares/
Depends on where you are. The H870 is the international version, so any of the EU or UK firmwares will work. Easy check is in settings about phone
software info. Software version. Mine is UK and version is V10r-234-30.
International will show v10(letter)-Global-number and EU version will be EUR in middle. Different EU countries will have their own I.e. Germany is DE. Hope this is of some help.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
you can use all firmwares whos for the H870 Model. EU, International, south America. If there is for example an south america FW that is newer than the EU FW, you can flash it, as long the FW is for the H870 too.
