Are there any different firmware versions for H870? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Basically I want to make sure I'm running generic H870 firmware so I would get all the updates faster. Is there a list or something? I've tried searching but it's either for different G6 versions or just a list of H870 updates by region, not the version names themselves. I would really appreciate that!
EDIT: Okay, found the list. Now which one should I use? https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h870-firmwares/

Depends on where you are. The H870 is the international version, so any of the EU or UK firmwares will work. Easy check is in settings about phone
software info. Software version. Mine is UK and version is V10r-234-30.
International will show v10(letter)-Global-number and EU version will be EUR in middle. Different EU countries will have their own I.e. Germany is DE. Hope this is of some help.

you can use all firmwares whos for the H870 Model. EU, International, south America. If there is for example an south america FW that is newer than the EU FW, you can flash it, as long the FW is for the H870 too.

What version?

OK, this is pretty silly question.
Phone says retasia, so this is asia "model"? Same as India?
Just wondering because I ordered phone from England and I live in Europe.
What does it say under the heading "Hardware SKU" in About Phone in your phone settings?
My European version reads "lux_reteu.reteu.en.EU retGB" under System Version. So it makes sense that your phone is the Asian version, unless you've flashed the Asian ROM on your EU phone?

Different model numbers

Are A2017(Chinese) , A2017U(US) and A2017G(Global) three different device model numbers (hardware wise)?
OR
Are they three different firmware numbers that can be flashed on same hardware device?
They are different devices for different regions
And with the locked bootloader they aren't able to be flashed to different region.
Each have different bands for phone too...

Thank you for the quick response.
So I presume the A2017G global firmware cannot be flashed on c Hines model A2017.
I am planning to buy the chinese model A2017 for use in Singapore. I Have verified that it does support the LTE network bands used by Singapore telcos. The seller on aliexpress confirmed that it will work in singapore and has English language and all Google apps
Would that be a wise thing to do or should I buy the global device model A2017G?
Would you happen to know out of A2017 and A2017G, which model has better
Dev support on xda? (From the perspective of rooting, unlocking, AOSP Roms etc)

Both.
Hardware-wise, the three models are banded differently, and support different cellular connections. For example, the US and China models have CDMA support, while the Global model is not banded for CDMA. The three models have differing LTE bands as well (US model tailored to LTE bands used in North America, Global model tailored to bands used in Europe/Asia, etc).
Software-wise, they're pretty similar, but there are some differences. For example, the Global model has lowered audio output (compared to US model) potentially due to EU regulations. On the flip-side, the Global model has a special menu option for "Glove Mode", to make the phone easier to use when you're wearing gloves, which is omitted from the US model. The US model has an included theme called "Stock Android", which is missing from the China and Global models. The China model does not come with Google Play services by default, because China.
Support-wise, ZTE USA has a community forum that employees participate in to answer questions and whatnot, as does ZTE China. ZTE Europe, however, does not seem to, and can only be contacted via phone/email.
Someone here on XDA was able to flash the Global model's ROM on a US model, but had to specifically flash the US model's modem in order to get cellular working. However, it might have been because the US model can be bootloader unlocked, so the US model can be flashed with other ROMs. The Global and China models don't have official bootloader unlock yet (I'm not entirely sure if the unofficial method posted here on XDA works on the Global and China models)
Thank you for the detailed response. Much appreciated.
Does anyone has any pictures with that stock Android theme?

Search for Axon 7 reviews on Youtube. Any review that shows a white Android app drawer icon in the middle of the nav bar is a US unit using the Stock Android theme.
Damn I'd love that stock interface. Now I'm running Pixel Launcher.

Can I Switch Between Official ROMs on LG G6 (KT Telecom "LG-G600K" to "non-carrier")?

Can I Switch Between Official ROMs on LG G6 (KT Telecom "LG-G600K" to "non-carrier")?
Hey all, just a quick question… what's LG's devices traditionally been like when it comes to installing ROMs from other region? Is this something doable?
I'm hoping to one day, perhaps swap to a more plain-vanilla ROM that doesn't have pre-installed much bloatware. I recall installing/upgrading LG's phones in the past using the official .kdz files, and I'm curious if I could do the same…
I bought a South Korean LG G6 (model: LG-G600k) and it's riddled with carrier bloatware. There's a few traces of Korean-specific services as well that I wish I could get rid of…
Newer lg devices ( g4 , g5 ) is only having 10 percent of support as compared to old models like g3 , g2.
If you install a rom of different carrier (with same device model and region) in your phone it may work if both carriers are using same bands.
If you install a rom of different carrier of different region ( with same device model ) it will give you ntt code error.
We can not install international model rom ( non Carrier ) to any Carrier specific model.
Until root is achieved you can try to disable unwanted apps.
If you have your phone inhand please provide system dump it will be helpful for further development.
Thanks for the answer!
Basically, the best bet on removing bloatware (and traces of Korean-specific services/UI elements) is by flashing a custom ROM; once root is achieved and custom recovery is made…, correct me if I'm wrong!
Also, I can only flash other Korean-based ROM (carrier built, or otherwise factory ROM) into this LGM-G600K. Am I right?
I'll look into providing a system dump. I did it once many many years ago; not sure if I remember.
@hidea
Yeah you are right
But you can always try other roms with same model number. For eg lg g5 h960 model released in india as well as in Indonesia. So roms of these model can be switched with eachother .
Now I'm having open euro h850 international model of g5 i can switch to tim Italy rom but cant switch to Vodafone rom ( gave me ntt code error ). Vodafone Germany and tim Italy both carriers are using h850 model but i can switch only to tim Italy.
So there's no hard and fast rule for switching roms with same Device model. You can always try which rom works for you. But don't try to flash other model rom to your device.
Sry for eng.
I Have the same phone, LGM-g600k, I disable all KT apps , but still have some ones in the phone, i search for a firmware for flash into our phone but without success.
hello! were anyone of you able to root G600k, or change the region, or do anything to remove KT specific poo from the phone? i'm not able to enable volte and its frustrating since the carrier here only works on volte

International Firmware

Before I start, this is the first android phone I've ever owned so the question may or may not be stupid.
So I live in India and I saw the trade-in deal for the S8. I was in need of an upgrade (iPhone 6) so I went for it as I was heading to the U.S soon. I heard that the international version gets updates sooner than the unlocked U.S version. Can I just change my firmware to international, get earlier updates with no drawback? If yes then why have I not seen a lot on this?
Pretty sure the firmware is locked to the device unless you root. I had an unlocked international S6(920?F) . It updated a lot earlier than the W released in Canada.

If the device you get is G950F (international) then updates will come sooner. If you get any other version they are for specific regions, so if you get G950U (US unlocked) you can't flash international firmware to it. Can only flash firmware for the model you get.

Then what are the benefits of people switching carriers for example? There seem to be a bunch of threads giving a tutorial on how to change firmware to different carries e.g. From a T Mobile to Unlocked.

For stuff like WiFi calling, voLTE, removal of bloat some csc tweaks
Guess that's unfortunate.

Switching country. Should I switch to local CSC firmware?

I'm moving to Germany from South America. Besides the fact that lastest version available here is still CRC7 (eye-roll) Would it be a good idea to flash German unlocked firmware, or is it exactly the same? (perhaps the modem is optimised for the local bands?)
"Past-switcher" here. I ended up flashing the German-version of the Oreo update when they were the first to get it. I didn't notice any difference with my UK-based S8 (Exynos).
I think unless you actually have any issues, i wouldn't bother flashing. Logically, if your phone supports the bands, it will work fine.
