S7 for $50 at Best Buy w/2 year contract - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I'm on a 4 line ED 1500 for 200 a month and have two upgrades available. Should I take the plunge and use one or both of them on the S7 for $50 or will something else better come along? The other two lines have a year left and I've had Sprint for while, so I'm probably not moving anytime soon.
I'm only tempted because root is now available and it looks like this phone is making progress.

OPINION,
Root is not stable/reliable.
If you require root and upgrade, the root will require 'maintanence'.
I thought I needed root,
I got the s7,
most everything I rooted for is resolved with the s7 without root.
There are threads about not rooting.

no fascinate for me for a while

vzw will only upgrade my primary line until end of november.
why would i buy one now, and then one later?
family plan lines do not qualify for early upgrades as they only pay 9.99 a month for access, the rest of the cost is credited to the main line.
meh, maybe by then i will want something else, oh well
Do you have any other lines on your plan that are eligible for upgrade?
My Fascinate is on my primary line, which isn't up for New Every Two for six more months. I have another line that had an available upgrade that I used to get it. It was really easy.

oh i can get 1 for the primary line, its elgible, but my secondary line isnt.
im not gonna spend 199 now then 199 again later, not with a bogo
and the whole reason im upgrading is to get the wife a smartphone.
basically vzw doesnt want my money for 2 more months, go figure
I was in the same situation as you with only one upgrade available on a family plan. I decided to add a line to get the BOGO phone for my wife. We needed to add a line later anyway for our son, so it was a little early, but I think it was worth it to get the free phone.

Even if it does come out, you know Verizon is almost always last to the dance right? Unless it's a Verizon only exclusive phone, which the Galaxy S2 won't be. Verizon always takes so long validating and testing the phones and adding their bloatware to the phone that every other carrier has had the phone for months before Verizon releases their version.
OTH, I hear that there will be a Verizon version of the HTC Evo coming in December.

ATT 1 year update

I am just curious if anyone else is getting the option to update after just a year? My understanding is that it is usually closer to 1.5 years for early upgrades and no one else I know on ATT is getting this offer, including others on my plan. I am curious whether other ATT Atrix users were also offered a 1 year update and whether they are going to take it and what they are going to update to?
Hopefully! I am nearly a year in...
however I wonder what phone I should go for - now JokerSax11 has the Atrix running CM9 (not without issues mind) it seems a shame to abandon it now.
CM9 really does prove the Atrix an excellent hardware platform.
M
I noticed the same thing. I figured it was because I was with AT&T for over 4 years now.
I was considering pulling the plug on the SGS II but would rather have the unlocked version.
That is normal for any plan that gets billed for more than $99 a month. I'm assuming you are the "primary" line on your account, correct? If so, then what happens is your line, specifically, is billed the full monthly (for example, I have the 700 minute family plan so my line is billed $60 while the others are $10 per month). Taking that into account, you have messaging, which also gets billed to the primary line, and then there is your data. When it's all said and done it should put your line over the $99 threshold. That's why you are getting the "yearly" eligibility and the other lines do not. I hope that makes sense.
EDIT: I had become curious of this so I decided to look into my situation and I have realized that there is a discrepancy in the details. What I had mentioned above was true for AT&T for quite some time (I know this because I updated annually) but after going through my contract I realized that I do not have this option anymore. So, either they had changed their policy or I'm getting duped somehow. With that said, either you're getting a "deal" or I need to make a call to CS and figure out why my upgrade options have changed. BRB

This makes sense to me; I'm the primary line on my account (with 4 other lines as a FamilyTalk Plan) and I noticed some time ago that I've been eligible for upgrades much sooner than the other lines on my account. I assumed it was because I have been a customer for almost 7 years, while the other lines are less than 3 years apiece.
With all that said, yeah, I've got an upgrade coming up next month, just short of a year from when I got my Atrix.
Our main line, (5 lines on the account) gives an upgrade every 12 months. Also, they will give you an upgrade 30 days early if you go into the store and ask for it. They can't go any earlier than 30 days though.

I recently noticed the same. I should be eligible this May, but the system says Dec. I'd asked when I was in the store recently and they claimed the policy has recently changed. I take what the in-store reps say with a grain of salt and had planned on calling into AT&T to ask them about it. I just haven't done that yet.
OK that really sucks if it has changed like Sprint used to do something similar but they stopped recently

Reading this topic made me wonder, So I just logged into my AT&T account to see if my one year upgrade was available for next month (March). Lo and behold not only is the deal still on. But it is offering the upgrade to me a month early. Not gonna bite as I don't see anything that looks any better than my Atrix 4g. Maybe something more worthy of a look will be offered soon. Honestly tho. I am not sure that I even need a different phone anytime soon anyway. If I am gonna play on a mobile device I will just grab my Iconia a500. About the only thing that I use the phone for other than calls anymore is tethering. Heck, I could probably get by with a Backflip or maybe even an old Aria...
Why not upgrade? Get an iphone 4s, and flip it quick?

Got a update due in March... really wanna wait out for SGS III, which "should" be out around May, but that's probably gonna be some stupid overseas release and won't he a US/ATT version until the end if the year like last year with the SGS II... if that turns out to be the case, ill probably just grab the SGS II skyrocket HD, hopefully coming out within the next month or two.

after you upgrade, you can change the primary line to upgrade your other lines earlier. I've done this with all my lines, you can usually see the change after one cycle of changing your primary line.

That is an interesting thought. Any guess whether or not this would cause my grandfathered in unlimited data to be lost? If I knew for sure that I could do that and keep my data plan intact I might do something like that.

I do want to upgrade though there just aren't any phones worth upgrading over yet. I don't want to have to wait another year, possibly 2, to upgrade

You are eligible for an exception upgrade after 6 mos are completed in your contract ... Its 250+ the 2 year price or if its a refurb phone you get the refurb price. Upgrades happen between 14-24 months it all depends on your ltv and how much you pay .... If you have any and i mean any non pay suspends or any feature/mrc changes in the last 3 months your eligibility will change... Sometimes for the better / sometimes for the worse.

Question about Verizon edge

I have a s4 on unlimited data and want to give the s4 to my wife and get the note 3. I qualify to get the note 3 on Verizon edge. Question is can I swap the phones over similar to what most people do when opening just a normal 2nd line or its not possible because the 25$ for edge is linked to the note 3?
Yes it is possible. All you have to do is swap SIM.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
If my wife wanted to upgrade the note 3 would have to be turned back in correct?
I've never turned in a phone at upgrade...

I thought I read somewhere for Verizon edge you have to turn the phone back in.

Only if the phone isn't paid off. You can upgrade your phone after 6 months and you would have to turn the other phone back in.
Why would you want to go with the EDGE program?
I'm not going with it I'm keeping my unlimited plan. I was starting Verizon edge for my wife because it seems like it's a better deal than going with a traditional contract.
Why do you need to keep a phone that's out of date? These devices are getting replaced by faster counterparts every 3-5 months as it is, granted nothing like the note 3 w/ s-pen, but still internal guts wise.
Its only $45-60(depending on conditions, etc) more at the end of 6 months then buying it on a subsidized rate, and I get the latest piece of tech for only tax again....and i'm not in contract anymore, month per month.
So I decided to give a shot,
I lost my unlimited, oh well. My data-whore days are over. I did however 'sweet-talk/complain' my way into a 8gb for the price of 2gb, instead of the 6gb they were going to offer me.
So my bill going from my old unlimited plan , to this new w/ 8gb, only went up $30( ($125.53 p/m) after taxes, no-contract, great LTE coverage, and new toy ever 5-7 months... and only having to pay $40 at the Verizon store and walking out with a new Note 3.
I'm not sure what you're trying to explain. I'm adding Verizon edge as a second line and swapping sim cards with the note 3. They will have to trick me or just completely take away my unlimited before I just gave it up.

I was basically just explain the perks in me IMO.
In your case, you can swap the sims (should be able to), but the Note 3 will never be yours unless you pay outright for it all $700 of it. Even if you are putting your sim into the note 3 from the s4, the contract is written out for the device you get on the upgrade.
Edge is a 0% interest loan basically on the phone, and you can upgrade to a newer phone once you hit $350 paid or 6 months, which ever is first.

I see. So you're adding a second line? Or is the second line your wife's line and its available for the Edge upgrade?
Double post.
I was under the impression you pay the 25$ a month and once you pay the phone off its yours to upgrade or trade. I think you're saying that if I want to upgrade before I pay the phone off I would have the swap the Sims back around since the contract is for the note 3?
Yep I'm adding a second line for my wife. She likes my s4 and I want the note 3.

Just get the Note 3 for your wife and swap SIMs. Don't go with Edge. The Edge program is only available for lines that have upgrades available so you wouldn't be able to put it on your wife's line. If you do the Edge upgrade on your line, you will lose your unlimited data. So you might as well start a new contract with your wife's line and pay subsidized price of the Note 3. You're gonna be locked in for two years anyway for the new line.
I'm a available for a upgrade but I will never use it when I talked to the Verizon rep he said I could start a new line with edge and it will not affect my plan what so ever

How are so many S3 owners already eligible for an upgrade?

I have seen so many S3 owners saying they used their upgrade to get this phone, but this phone wasn't even released until 7/10/12, which was only 21 months ago, so how are so many getting to upgrade early?
I don't know about anyone else, but I have unlimited data and pay full retail. Anyone in that situation can buy a phone whenever they want.
Have you tried calling and asking for an early updgrade, I am guessing if you call once or twice, you will have success if you lock in. Obviously, people have additional lines, etc., and use work arounds to get upgrades.

Thanks for the response and I realize retail can get every single phone that's released if they want, but people all over the internet have been saying they used their S3 upgrade to get this phone. Perhaps all of those were approved early upgrades.

I looked at that, but it seems awfully expensive in the end. What is the monthly cost on the S5 with Edge? Do they keep the phone even if you do pay enough to cover the full price after 2 years?

If you wait every 2 years it probably wouldn't be worth it, but if you upgrade every year it's not really that bad. It's about 25 bucks a month extra, so over the course of the year, it would cost $300. Considering you probably pay around $250 for a new phone when it is time to upgrade, your really only paying $50 more a month to be able to upgrade every year. You cannot keep your phone for early edge. But after that, I'm not sure.
I did the edge program. I got 10gb of data shared with my wife. They give you am extra $25 off the cost of edge. So I am only paying 22¢ a month for each phone.
I didn't want to do the edge previously, they changed the pricing and now it cost us almost the same amount we were paying with our separate accounts.

Lol. 2 ways. You pay a prorated amount so if you have 3 months left on your contact you will only pay like 11 dollars per outstanding month. $33 dollars isn't a deterrent for most.
Also, a large portion of phone buyers (myself included) pay non contract prices for their phones.

Sell s3 then go for an s5.LOL
I came from the s3, but I came to the s3 from the galaxy nexus. Got my nexus on upgrade, s3 i got from a friend for 100 bucks after they cracked their screen and use their dad's upgrade to replace it. I spent 18 bucks and put new glass on.

I upgraded from my S3. I paid full price
Came from the S3, didn't pay early upgrade fees or pay full price and kept my unlimited data plan! I call that a Win Win situation!
On top of that I bought my wife a S3 right after the S4 came out and we both upgraded to the S5!
We have 5 lines on our family plan and we use the other 3 (which aren't data lines and have non-contracted phones). We upgrade the other lines when we want to get a new phone. Since we plan on having a cell phone no matter what and Verizon has the best coverage in our area we don't mind the 2 year contracts.
So we are working on getting all of our personal items off the S3's right now so that we can sell them and cover that cost of the S5's. (BTW, I forgot to mention, we bought 1 S5 and got 1 for free through Verizons special they were running, so other than being locked into a 2 year contract we will basically get them for free!).
Win Win here as well. I used the upgrade from another line on my family plan and I did it through costco so it was only $100 bucks. I was able to keep unlimited too

US Sprint upgrade S10 5G discount 35 a month

Edit:Looked like a one day upgrade sale, but you can still get with a new line.
(plus u get a 200 dollar gift card after 60 days)
https://www.sprintpromotionshub.com/#/campaignhome
Also was forced in the end to upgrade my plan.
-‐--------
Thought I would share this. Sprint is offering existing customers an upgrade to the s10 5g for 35 a month. Plus on top of that they are letting me use my freedom unlimited plan. Didn't have to update to the 80 dollar a month plan like they was pushing before.
Down payment is 50 USD not the ludicrous amount they're wanting before.
Happy Dance I can hide the notch and have a 6.5 in display.

Did you get it?
Okay I did get the new phone. I upgraded my sons phone then moved the phone to a new line, and then put his phone back. Keeping the discount.
However in the end I was forced to upgrade my plan.
It's 17 dollars more for me with taxes. I do get Tidal now which I have come to say why haven't I had this before. It's amazing music streaming service. I already had Amazon on my account for 13 a month. That with 50 GB more of hotspot on all the lines 300GB total(well one line has a hacked note 4 unlimited hotspot).
We still use a ton of hotspot and run out all the time. So for me the 17 dollars in the end wasnt bad of a plan update.
I freaking love this s10 5g. The Depth Camera works super well, I love the size with the camera hidden on display. I hated on my s10+ that it felt small with it hidden.
Also this looked like a one day upgrade sale. Now u get it if u open a new line. U also get 200 dollars back after 60 days on a new line. I bought an s10+ and added a new line dropping my old line(note 4) moved it to another phone. Then put the Note 4 back on that line. Idk if I will still get the Master Card....but I did open a new line so I should. Have to wait on that one.
Do be clear I spent over an hour on the phone trying to get this on my old plan. They tried they really tried the system just will not allow it. It was send it back or upgrade your plan.
I just got it a month ago it's incredible. Also I was on the fence on if I should get the whitestone dome. I finally did it and it's amazing the fingerprint even works
lucky u folks.. not sure if u noticed on ur devices but theyre oem unlockable
Just seen that this morning(in the news), and checked in my developer options. The setting is there!!! Hope this brings a lot of custom development I'm stroked.
I love this phone so much....little things like notification led is the only thing I really dont like. I havent used a SD card in years to be honest, and the bio I only used only a handful of times if I'm honest.
