Downgrading from Marshmallow to Lolipop - G4 General

Right now I have the LG G4 (H812) from Fido. Absolutely love the phone, but was extremely disappointed in finding out there was no root method that worked with Marshmallow.
CyanogenMod has been my go to since 2013. Needless to say, I'm on a mission to have it running on my G4. It looks like the only way to do so is downgrading to Lollipop.
Any advice?

i dont think your variant can be bootloader unock to install twrp.... you need that to flash cm.
you can get root on LP. and yes you can downgrade .. as long as both version antirollback are the same.. dont downgrade if they are different it will brick phone... example am on 20i MM is antirollback V2 and l0n LP is V2 also i cana change from both .. but new is 20o antirollback V3 if i update am stuck there... this is on the tmobile not sure of other variants... youll need to ask..
and in LP you can ad root only..

I can't flash TWRP with Flashify once root is achieved?

no.. you must have bootloader unlock .. only tmobile h811 and some h815 europeans variatns not all h815 can be bootloader unlock... but you can root LP only..

IIRC, H812's all have locked bootloaders, so no TWRP.
ETA: Ninja'd.

In dev options it allows me to check OEM unlock. Are you sure?

like i said as long you can downgrade to LP assuming your antirrollback its the same as the LP then follow this guide any question just ask.

If you search for hidden menu code you enter it on dialer. then in there should be device info on the bottom it should tell you your antirollback.. then make sure or ask in the KDZ thread wich is compatible... am not sure if this is only for t mobile or the rest of phones.. look for your variant LP KDZ and ask there..

My antirollback is 0.

then you can downgrade to LP... use the thread in GENERAL section go back to stock, or use the NEW LGUP method thread.. follow intructions and download your variant KDZ.

i dont know... ive used one click root on G2 5.02. it worked on LP... oon G4 root can only be achieve on LP injecting rooted system.img .. as in MM they use systemless.. so in order to root it until now you need a kernel that supports systemless.. and of course twrp. and for that you need bootloader unlocked.. ill do a search but beleive if there was root for MM it will be posted in XDA..

I'm assuming there's no way to unlock my bootloader as well.
I haven't found anything solid.

Before I did the update I had the phone rooted. I didnt loose root. now I have a question that if anyone can help please. Is the verizon xperia Z2 tablet unable to have custom roms and flashed? I followed the link to unlock the bootloader and it says its not available. Is there a method to unlock without the option for Sony website?
As far as I know, no bootloader unlock. Also don't think anyone is working on it. Not sure though.

You can find custom recovery here:

I'm afraid that so far no luck with custom roms because only ones for this device are cm or aspects based wich include custom kernel. We need developers for custom roms with stock kernel.

Well I will attempt to but I expect the same issues that we are having with F400S lollipop update. We haven't been able to get a port going yet
Would it be better to wait for a flashable ROM as if we do an OTA update we might not be able to get root back for a while... (different boot loader)?
exciting
I am excited. Of course I'm in Australia so thr chances of it rolling out to me in a hurry is slim, but as with all things phone related its a matter of time. This just means that LG is keen to keep some marketshare goodwill. It also means that it will be sooner rather than later that the awesome devs in XDA take it and bake it better.

So next rom would be based on 5.0?
Since Poland users gave d855, would any d855 user be able to flash manually, given access to appropriate files? If yes, would it then be able to be put into a custom rom accessible to all (similar to how CloudyG3 allows me, a d850 user, to run 10n (which alone would be unflashable, if i am not mistaken))?
In theory yes. However im not flashing until a custom ROM is made. Root i can just about live without (I guess the kernel will need bumping).
I am from poland... Yesterday i got ota information about update but i dont know what update it was because i am on AndroidNow hd 2.4 and have bump! So i disable ota because i am afraid i will stock in recovery... Is a way to go back all to stock to take this ota? And if i get this the bump! And root toll may not work?

you can download ota and if it tells you it's 5.0 you can provide us the zip without flashing it
edit: aaaaand for you all to know you can't port it to other devices without proper kernel... different carriers have different partitions and kernels are built differently for each version thats why we can't port the f400s to d855 even if was able to boot the kernel it goes panic because of the incorrect partitions and configurations.. we need sources

If you have an european device you can unlock bootloader officially:

Follow the steps on this site. But it only works with H815. Other devices are not supported.
Asking myself what LG is thinking to go this courious way.

Check Bootloader Status for N910G 6.0.1?

Flashing root and flashing Custom Rom is not the same.
Flashing root doesn't care about your bootloader state while flashing Custom Rom does. If you flash Custom Rom when the bootloader is still locked then you can say goodbye to your phone

I don't think your BL is locked and I only know 1 phone model that is locked which is verizon's "sm-n910V". I only check or change BL if the rom specify it.
I'll give an example alexandr's rom for sm-n910F you need to flash BL and modem if your going his 6.0.1 rom if your still on 5.1.1 so you don't need to flash the whole 6.0.1 stock rom.
Hope this helps find the right directions to your problem.

<Mod snip>
You should have done it weeks ago.
TWRP is a custom recovery, flash it via ODIN, use the version for your model of phone.
It does not require an unlocked bootloader, it merely overwrites the recovery partition.
If you truly had read up on it, you would have known that a long time ago and would not have wasted two weeks, five pages on a thread that are completely useless.
Really surprised the mods have not shut this nonsense down.

Well there you go..... Didn't use ODIN like the install instructions on the TWRP site suggests. And darn near every other web site on the planet outlining how to install TWRP and Root your phone.
And of course your phone was Rooted correct?
Just guessing you installed the TWRP Manager from Google Play Store.
Where it states (Requires ROOT). Which is a tricky thing to do..... without TWRP.
Yes, TWRP Manager is a great tool. If TWRP was already installed. Using ODIN. And you Rooted your phone. After installing TWRP, using ODIN.

Same for me
Has anyone tried installing over root and xposed?
I guess I'll try it and report back.
Update: Doesn't work with root.

I know but I didn't had the time and the necessary resources to do it . I was also a Little afraid for the bootloop problem.

Not sure if you know about it, but your phone is basically showpiece from showrooms or shops, that's the X in your version number. This kind of phones are not intended to be sold for customers.
You will never got more updates as you already have, so your only option is to flash it manually.
Bootloop problem is not dependant on software version. It doesn't matter if you have 5.1 or 6.0.

Do you have an accurate source to backup your wild claims?
My EU (UK) H815 v20d-EUR-XX is currently downloading the update.
No need for a manual flash and my device certainly was not a store demo model.
Hello,
My G4 is unlocked and ROOTED and the update is available and in downloading atm.
There are something I should to know about the fact that my smartphone ROOTED evening before applying the update?
Could this affect my G4?
Thank you! =D

Sure,
We are not talking about the same thing.
Look again, and maybe twice at his version number: It's is VX10c-EUR-XX
I'm not talking about XX, but about the first "X"... see?
Sure, your device is the same as mine v20d-EUR-XX which is a retail model, but this is not the case for VX10C-EUR-XX which is unfortunately a demo model
Ok, finally, it seems that I can't update automatically with a G4 ROOTED.
When I launch the update this message pop "phone restarting"
Then boot directly on TWRP... (>_<)
So obviously I can't execute this update automatically... :'(

Off you can't. You have another recovery. Use LG UP and flash it. Easier can't be. Note you will lose root and the recovery.

Me too same model. I don't know what they're talking about. Store models can't even make calls and this deters people from trying to steal them.

Same. Luckily, they seem to have deleted the update so you need to redownload. At least we don't have 500MB lurking somewhere.

Go to thread about the Portugal update and download the KDZ from there. Any link from that thread is the international H815 update. Don't worry about countries and shenanigans is the same firmware for all. V20g-EUR-XX. Install LG UP on your PC. First the DLL then the program. Place the KDZ in your LG UP install directory (Crogram Files (x86)/LG Electronics/LGUP/model/8994). Put your phone in download mode. (With phone turned off press Volume UP and with it press plug in the USB cable). Click refurbished option for a complete wipe and clean flash. Before all this make a backup. You can also select upgrade option to avoid wipe but I always recommend a clean flash. Read the according threads in XDA for further information if you need.
It seems the h818p will not be updated(yet)?
@src151 thanks for the info. I didn't knew that demo phones can have the GSM module. At least I got it at a very good price
I will upgrade manually then.
