Before I did the update I had the phone rooted. I didnt loose root. now I have a question that if anyone can help please. Is the verizon xperia Z2 tablet unable to have custom roms and flashed? I followed the link to unlock the bootloader and it says its not available. Is there a method to unlock without the option for Sony website?

As far as I know, no bootloader unlock. Also don't think anyone is working on it. Not sure though.

You don't need to have unlocked bootloader to install custom rom. Only when installing custom kernel.

can someone direct me where to look because everything i find shows that your need an unlocked bootloader to use custom roms, and custom recovery. Also doesnt that void the use of custom roms? you would use a custom kernel on that.

You can find custom recovery here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794175
I'm afraid that so far no luck with custom roms because only ones for this device are cm or aspects based wich include custom kernel. We need developers for custom roms with stock kernel.

Awesome! I'm still trying to read through the post...and still will after getting a response here but....
Will this work with the current OTA that i received about 2-3 weeks ago?
And I have to redo this after rebooting?
I don't even care about putting another rom on it (CM11 would be cool though) but I just wanna terminate the bloatware and get my AirStream App running again!!!
If this works...

I can also confirm that write protect is off and I have SuperSU and Safestrap all successfully installed. I tried installing CM11 on romslot-1 but it displayed the droid with the red triangle. Any suggestions on how to get CM11 booting now?
I can also confirm this works. I'm rooted with Write Protection off at 4.4 & 19.6.3.
The exact steps have been posted later on, in the same thread.

I'm not too sure but I think we need specific CM11 (AOSP builds) for SafeStrap or you need a Unlocked bootloader for AOSP Roms.

AOSP based roms require a different kernel. Safestrp cannot flash kernels. No AOSP.
How lucky are you to have confirmed that write protection in fact could be turned off when even the exploit author himself believed otherwise? Great job OP.

It's legit, Safestrap working, rebooted several times haven't lost root!
Do it guys!!! DO IT!!!
Confirmed working on Droid Mini XT1030.
I'm really impressed you found this just by experimentation and not reverse engineering code or anything like that.
Whenever I experiment, it usually ends in bad luck, hard-bricked devices, and tears!
Confirmed!
Confirmed working on my XT1080! Thank you for your effort! :highfive:
Im now rooted with WP off and have safestrap installed on my mini.
Ive had zero luck installing any custom roms and figured it was because I was on 4.4,19.5.3. I reinstalled OTA (19.6.3) , retained root but still am having no luck with Roms.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I can't find any Mini or rom forums but I think the Ultra is compatible so I've been looking around here.
Any help is appreciated , thanks !

I had the Droid bionic before this phone. dhacker & hashcode made a safestrap flashable cm9/10. It had to be flashed in slot 1. Perhaps if some interest was shown, they would make one for the ultra/ maxx.

Well I will attempt to but I expect the same issues that we are having with F400S lollipop update. We haven't been able to get a port going yet
Would it be better to wait for a flashable ROM as if we do an OTA update we might not be able to get root back for a while... (different boot loader)?
exciting
I am excited. Of course I'm in Australia so thr chances of it rolling out to me in a hurry is slim, but as with all things phone related its a matter of time. This just means that LG is keen to keep some marketshare goodwill. It also means that it will be sooner rather than later that the awesome devs in XDA take it and bake it better.

So next rom would be based on 5.0?
Since Poland users gave d855, would any d855 user be able to flash manually, given access to appropriate files? If yes, would it then be able to be put into a custom rom accessible to all (similar to how CloudyG3 allows me, a d850 user, to run 10n (which alone would be unflashable, if i am not mistaken))?
In theory yes. However im not flashing until a custom ROM is made. Root i can just about live without (I guess the kernel will need bumping).
I am from poland... Yesterday i got ota information about update but i dont know what update it was because i am on AndroidNow hd 2.4 and have bump! So i disable ota because i am afraid i will stock in recovery... Is a way to go back all to stock to take this ota? And if i get this the bump! And root toll may not work?

you can download ota and if it tells you it's 5.0 you can provide us the zip without flashing it
edit: aaaaand for you all to know you can't port it to other devices without proper kernel... different carriers have different partitions and kernels are built differently for each version thats why we can't port the f400s to d855 even if was able to boot the kernel it goes panic because of the incorrect partitions and configurations.. we need sources

it's an ota go into system infos > updates > check for updates.... then download it and post it here (don't flash it.. you will loose root and possibility to root)

Few Things I Want to Ask Before Flashing a Custom Rom, Please Help

Hello there,
I am currently found an interesting ROM in this forum called Phronesis Rom v3.0
(Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...om-phronesis-rom-v1-0-stable-feature-t3241910)
Currently I have an unrooted Note 3 with the Custom Recovery (TWRP). I know a root is required before flashing any custom ROMs. Before flashing this ROM, I have a few things that is not sure and want to confirm it...
Since I don't have permission to post a reply in that forum so I just post my questions here and hope someone can answer...
1. Since my Note 3 is different from the other countries (16GB version) while other countries have 32GB version, does this matter?
2. My current Baseband version is N9005ZSUGOK2. But I found the baseband version and kernel version in that custom ROM is different from mine (N9005XXUGBXXX) Can I flash this ROM into my Note 3? Will I brick my device if I'm doing so? (N9005ZSUG != N9005XXUGB)
<If the answer of question 2 is no, then skip the question 3>
3. Can I use the stock baseband version and stock kernel version (that is come from my region N9005ZSUG instead of using N9005XXUGB) after installed this custom ROM?
I hope someone can help me, thanks..
I also have the same problem

Thanks for the answer! But I'm just don't understand the concept between the Bootloader, Kernel, Baseband
1. Does Custom ROM brings with the Baseband? Can I use my original Baseband when using custom ROMs?
2. I have search some posts stated that the Kernel I've choose that need to be compatible with the that custom ROM. What will happen if I'm doing it wrong way? (Bootloop? Brick?... or anything esle)
3. Do I always need to upgrade to the latest bootloader?
Thanks again for helping. I'm really a noob..

To those that plan on or have already updated to Marshmallow on the S5. You HAVE or WILL lose modding compatibility due to a/n security update Samsung implemented into the new Marshmallow Bootloader. This is unfortunate for all of the modding community of MULTIPLE Samsung devices. Hopefully, we can overcome this breach in personal security and allow modding once again on our devices. This update was RELEASED on: April 18th, 2016. It is known as the CPCA update for the "Samsung Galaxy S5". Modders beware of this update, and once again, DO NOT UPDATE YOUR DEVICES!

Yes multiple of users have tried downgrading to 5.0, but it refuses to do so. Looks like we are stuck with Marshmallow until there is some sort of exploit in the system. Will OK4 Work to downgrade the device. Does this also flash Bootloader?
WTH dude... you only open unwanted threads.. This one and anothers threads with rom's that not even work.
There ins't any problem with MM bootloader (I use a custom ROM with MM bootloader) and almost every custom roms don't work because they are based on LL blobs.
I will report you because I see too much threads open by you that don't have any contribution for the forum and members.

Dude, you were spot on! I flashed over OK4 bootloader and modem in Odin, then booted to recovery and flashed Bliss 6.0.1 rom and it worked!!!
After updating my Sprint Galaxy S5 to MM 6.0.1, my phone shuts down and reboots every time I uninstall an app. In addition, I no longer have access to the APN folder that allows me to use my MSL to modify and access the Hotspot function.
Anyone having these problems and is there a fix?
You can downgrade back to ok4 if your on a mm build like pca. I've done it multiple times with 100 percent success. The bootloader isn't locked when going back to ok4 from pca at this time but when or if this phone gets another update for mm this might change but for right now this isn't an issue. There isn't that much rom based on 6.0.1 mm for this phone that is TouchWiz at the moment for sprint besides insanity rom.
Sent from my SM-G900P using XDA-Developers mobile app
I should have looked at who the OP was before even opening this thread. I've been running marshmallow with absolutely no issues since it was leaked. I've flashed back to stock roms, flashed custom roms, flashed back to marshmallow, rooted, and debloated. So I don't see why the hell you posted this thread. Maybe YOU can't customize YOUR marshmallow rom because, as your track record shows with all, ALL, of YOUR roms, none of them work. So, maybe the problem isn't the marshmallow update, the problem is you.
Thanks zune70. I appreciate the information.

[Discussion] OTAs on Rooted Huawei/Honor phones- Confirmed

Saw many post from new users and senior members as well and most of the time there are lot of confusion on the OTA part, especially for the rooted phone. Few says it gets (I am one of them) and few says it doesn’t as rooting capabilities modifies the system boot.img and also we have unlocked bootloader so device wont get the OTAs. I have been using the Huawei/Honor phones for 2 years now and have been getting all the OTAs on rooted phone and confirmed the same many time but still there are lot of confusion and users thinks they wont get OTA on rooted phone.
Just confirming here that you will receive OTAs on rooted phone without any issues. This is 2nd update on my phone since rooted in past 2 months.

It will remain intact. No data loss. Well Chris, i can confirm on the OTA part but you never know the unforeseen consequences. I mean can run into trouble sometimes as Huawei/Honor phones are prone to brick in seconds. I would say to not update in such scenarios.
