Redmi Note 3 Pro - need info - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello,
I just purchased an Redmi Note 3 Pro - 3GB 32GB Qualcomm (it's not here yet, somehow I managed to order from one of the slowest retailers on earth geekb*ying) - probably not in stock even though it said it was, they seemed to get good reviews on resellerratings, (however after contacting their live help, the offered to throw in free gift if I left good feedback on another similar review site-who would refuse right?), so I completely lost confidence in the resellerratings since they could of been bribed reviews too, now I am nervous since it hasn't shipped out yet and it's been 4 days-- and I paid them 180~ usd with paypal- I will wait another week or so before pursuing a refund or pp dispute...
so anyways assuming I wasn't ripped off
As soon as I get this device I want to root it so I can install AFWall+ to block unwanted internet traffic, and that needs root support so I am pretty confused with the models I see
the Redmi Note 3 and the Redmi Note 3 Pro
the Redmi Note 3 only has a 13MP camera and the pro has a 16MP and I also know there is the Mediatek variant
So if anyone could be nice enough to explain how to unlock the bootloader and the correct twrp version for the Pro snapdragon variant of this device.
I also won't have any cellphone access on this device (just wifi) so I hope the unlock method won't require some kind of cell connection, I will probably install a custom firmware down the road once I get used to the device and do a few updates, so any ideas on that would be great too.
http://en.miui.com/download-301.html#438 < is this the correct offical firmware for this device, I notice it says Note 3 but no Pro...I'm confused -
this is my first xomai device.
Ok think I figured the models out,
Pro = Snapdragon, kenzo
Standard = MT6795 Helio X10, hennessy
if that's correct then I still need info about unlocking and the best CM13 rom (where everything works)
I am still in overload with all the codewords and models and threads / old threads / development roms / MUI / global / chinese roms ..etc

official bootloader unlock u need a phone number (doesnt mather witch one or who)
cause u need to ask permision at xioami and they will send a code via sms (and u need to use the same account on phone as you asked permision afcorse)

HDC Galaxy Note 3 N9002

Hey everyone!
I bought this phone last Christmas on LightInTheBox.
This is all what I can find on my phone (software and hardware):
- HDC Note 3
- Type behind battery: n9002
- Model (what android tells me): U9000
- Runs on android 4.3
- Kernel dates from 3 Decembre 2013
- CPU-type: MT6589 quad core
- ROM: 8Gb
- RAM: 1Gb
- Dual SIM
So I'm having a few troubles I really can't seem to be able to solve:
- When phone is on Edge (E) it constantly locks by itself (goes to lockscreen).
- Can't change the background of the lock screen, there is no function built-in to change this.
- When I go to settings > check for software update it always tells me: there's is no new version but I also get a pop-up screen at the same saying 'failed connecting to the internet' so that clearly doesn't work either.
Can anyone help me solve these problems? Or is there a newer ROM avaiable (link ?) because I can't seem to find one for this specific phone.
Thanks everybody
In case you didn't notice, this is a original Note 3 forum, not a fake note 3 forum.

- Samsung Galaxy Note 3
- Model SM-N9005
- CPU Type Qualcom MSM8974
- Rom 16Gb - 32Gb
- Ram 3Gb
This is the difference between a REAL Galaxy Note 3 and the chinese knockoff.... If you bought it as a Note 3 thinking it was real, I'm sorry to say you were had. Hopefully it was only around $250US as that is what it's worth from a lot of sites.
Unfortunately though as you bought a knockoff you can't use any of the Note 3 firmwares, roms, recoveries or method to update/root or modify it....
The only thing you might be able to do, and it's a long shot, check with the site/shop you bought it from and see if they will give you an update, though I wouldn't hold my breath...

Ah damnit! Didn't notice I posted it in the wrong section .
But yeah, I am well aware of the fact that I have bought a knockoff! 750 € is a ridiculous amount of money for a phone, that's why i decided to buy this one. Thx anyway for the reply..
Greets!

Why G4 Plus over Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?

I am in Ireland, and I have had terrible problems ordering a Moto G4 Plus to a mail forwarding company from Motorola UK - 5 attempts with different companies, using different forms of address, omitting the mailbox number etc.
Anyway, I have found a friend that will let me use their UK address, there is just one thing I want to check with you guys before I place my sixth order attempt: someone recommended I go for the cheaper Xiaomi Redmin Note 3, which seems to have the same specs as the Moto G4 Plus, but with a better processor and battery life.
I know the MG4P will have the latest version of Android, but after a click glance at the forums here it seems you can flash that ontt the Note 3.
Many of you must have had to make the same choice, so I am asking, why did you go with the MG4P over the much cheaper Note 3?

advice: buy Axon 7 in China to use in UK?

Hi,
I've been tempted by the Axon 7 for some time now having seen it in Beijing, and was excited to see it demoed in the ZTE Demo truck that went to our local shopping centre, presuming that it would be released imminently. Unfortunately, it hasn't appeared and since the mini version *has* appeared (Car Phone Warehouse), I presume it isn't going to be released at all.
So, I have been wondering what my options are. Is it plausible to buy one when I'm next in China and use it easily in the UK? I'm reasonably literate with phones and flashing/etc, so I could perhaps do that too, if it is an option. Does the Axon 7 in China have all the same hardware features as would be expected in the UK? I'm particularly thinking of things like NFC for Android Pay - NFC isn't used much at all in China, so it would be (almost) sensible for them to leave that off phones sold there, but it is something I would want. I would certainly want the Play Store and such like.
I have used a Chinese phone in the UK and successfully installed the Play Store on it (and it had an Intel CPU so it wasn't completely straight forward). It was also a ZTE phone (Geek v975) as it happens.
Any advice on what to do?
Max.
PS. My main reason for the Axon 7 is the front-facing speakers. However, other than not allowing *both* microsd *and* 2nd SIM, it is pretty much spot-on (note that HTC One X9 has a dedicated microsd slot and great front-facing speakers, but I can't find one that isn't locked to CMCC, and it doesn't seem to be so well thought of on this forum, though I see it does have a forum so I'll ask there too).
Axon 7 is a greate deal of hardware.
Of course you can use Chinese version on UK, but you have to flash Global rom and modem.
I myself own a Chinese version, but I flash US rom, because chinese rom is lack of play store and full of crappy app
Hi David
I did exactly what you are thinking about. I'm typing this reply from a 128gb Chinese zte axon 7. I bought from Ali express. When you but from china the seller will root the phone to enable Google play store. That's fine but it screws up obtaining the OTA updates. I can walk you through how to overcome this and get onto 7.1.1. No root nothing like that. My advice it's easy and you can save a packet getting a great phone.
Currently you can pick up an axon 7 for 270. Job done.
I'm running my 128gb Cuba version as well. I have 2 sims and an sd card running on it. There's a few threads on how to go about it. There's not much that needs doing apart from installing Google on the phone. Everything is simple. Just use the search function and you will get everything you want.

Le Pro 3 x720 worth buying ?

Hello everyone ! I'm considering buying a new phone since mine is almost dead. I saw le pro 3(x720) for less than 200€ that is a great price for snapdragon 821 with band b20 support ( in Europe it is somehow a deal breaker).
So I came up here to ask you guys about then customs ROM support and stability with Microg. I don't use gapps and other fancy google apps. I saw that the camera is OK so I'm ok with that but I saw that there ia some inconsistency with battery life and SOT ? So in your opinion, x720 worth buying or is better to go with other brand with couple of bucks more ?
Look at the custom ROM section of this forum and see if you're satisfied.
I don't know what your use case is, but I think LeEco phones are great... as long as they've got official LeEco ROMs on them. Sellers like Banggood/Gearbest/Geekbuying put shop ROMs on most of the LeEco devices they sell which don't pass SafetyNet. Plus the build quality of phones from these sellers can be quite iffy.
Get a phone from HongKong-Goldway on Aliexpress if you're looking for a new Chinaphone. They do VAT-free shipping to Europe and they're super careful about ROMs. Just beware that, if there's a hardware defect returning the phone will be a pain. Also, always pay with PayPal in case something goes wrong (in this case avoid Aliexpress).
If you want to go with the LeEco Pro 3 and need native SafetyNet passing without Magisk, get the x727 U.S. model. If you don't care for SafetyNet, the x720 is the only Pro3 model with custom ROMs. Avoid the x722. Personally, I'd go with Xiaomi because they've not gone bankrupt like LeEco has. The Xiaomi ROM community is super active. Now even LeEco's main site hosting their official ROMs is down.
Thanks for superfast reply I've been through the android development section and we do have a lot of choice in custom rom ! Sure Xiaomi est sure value but they lack multiple bands over LTE network. In Europe, B20 and B28 (recently) are massively used outside of cities so a phone without b20 will be a handicap. Since, i'll be travelling in Europe, b20 is deal breaker.
I don't use google apps (even maps), or any other apps that needs safetynet so i don't care a lot !
In the meantime, I was also considering 1+5 but it's out of stock :'(

I'd say wait until Black Friday, when many stores will be having sales. Is this going to be a secondary phone or your main phone? I guess the x720 would make for a decent daily driver as long as you get it from a legit source. Don't get the 32GB version since there's no SD card slot (even 32GB is way too little in this day and age). Sadly the x727 doesn't have band 20. Since you don't need SafetyNet, flashing LineageOS on the x720 would be your ideal choice.
Quite a few Xiaomi phones have band 20, like the Note 4X (Snapdragon 625). Do explore all of your options before making a final decision.

Should I buy Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in 2018?

1. Is it genuinely best to buy it this year? (Because, its OS is old so there might be problems in the updates, like some part or the whole mobile not working properly or some apps not responding properly to the updates etc.)
2. Furthermore, after warranty period, will it be easy to get it serviced or replace its parts if required? (Because it is an old model and still I didn't get the info after my searches whether it is discontinued or not. Because, if it is discontinued then it might be a problem).
3. I want to connect either 1TB or 2TB SSD to it. So, will it function properly without hanging or slow speed? (Of course, I'll connect the SSD to a power bank). (I am not expecting look and build from the mobile but a best and speedy performance in any scenario).
the mobile is good if you want to enjoy the pen functionality and removable battery feature. The phone is still fast enough. you will get the security updates but will not get the os updates.. if you are going to buy it, for another 2 more years you can use it without any worry. dont know if you can connect 2 tb ssd.
If you get one for a good price. I would not pass it up.
Once you go note you can't go back. I got a 2nd for 250$NZD that's like ($180us) flashed every rom on here multiple times(exynos) , now it's a daily on nemesis with prime kernel. No finger print function but it's practically a note 7
From what I am remember I've had class 10 SD cards die the most
These are usually high capacity, Been through 3x class 10 (2x64 1x32)in under a year, I think high capacity SD your asking for trouble, one drop, bung
I stick with 16gb SD ive had for over 4 years even a4gb I've had for even longer
my advise is very simple : go for Note 5
You should still be able to find brand new models of the Note 4 for a excellent price if you shop around for them online. The Note 4 is still a good device however it isn't as secure as most current android devices.
Note 5 don't have replacing battery ,you must go to service to change it.
You can go to GSM arena and compare Note 4 with all Samsung series and you will see that Note 4 have all hardware like this new models from 2018 ,on some model Note 4 have better hardware.
I buy second time this year Note 4 ,learn how to root ,flash Resurrection rom with 8.1 Android and have everything that have all new phone today's. From the look, from the icon,system..Everything..
Also you can use Substratum theme to add even more look and change it how you wants to your phone look.
Its just amazing that my phone 4years old support and have hardware to support all newest systems from today.
