Desire 625, same as 626s! - Desire 626 General

I have a Desire 625 (from cricket in case any others exist, it probably wouldnt make a difference) and it is almost exactly the same as a 626s. More specifically the a32uel. For some reason though, the camera which is supposed to be only 5 MP instead of 8 which implies it is a different cam... the camera still works even.
That said mine had an unlocked sim for Iwireless/tmobile. I unlocked the bootloader and used the version of TWRP written for it and it worked flawlessly (I did have issues with SDcard support, I ended up having to use ADB to push my rom to the sdcard)
I installed the debloated boost\sprint marshmallow rom and it did have issues activating of course but beyond that the phone itself is now working and I am on wifi and have data and no problems except I cant figure out how to get LTE to work thus far. My "4G" HSDPA+ connection is working at least as I did pull 5 mb/s down and 2.5 up during a test albeit with full signal and it does say "G" like it's pulling GPRS when it isnt. (EDIT: After i posted that eventually it vibrated and started pulling LTE signal)
That said welcome to having another dev in this community and I look forward to making this phone not suck (coming from an S5 that ran nearly as fast as an S6 after my S5 fell in water and died)

I have the HTC Desire 625 as well, it's a great phone for the price. At this point, mine is just rooted and sim unlocked for AT&T. I'm planning on trying to flash the T-Mobile or MetroPCS HTC Desire 626s Marshmallow RUU when it is released.

The boost one will work great on the phone. The only problem I see is that it takes awhile (around 5-10 mins) to get an LTE lock after boot but after it gets it it works fine (GSM and HSDPA are immediate). It may be a bit of a wait for the others with minimal gains/differences between the two.
I'm thinking it's just some .prop settings that need changed.

Has anyone flashed the Sprint/Boost rom on the 626 from Metro PCS?

wow. amazing! I'm using the Cricket 625 as well, had TWRP installed, rooted, customized, etc.....and the thing just died after a simple restart one day. Couldn't boot. It was stuck on the HTC logo screen after the Cricket Wireless boot animation. I flashed the Sprint Debloated MM Rom and I'm back up and running. My only question is this:
Has anyone been able to activate the handset yet? I receive texts/have data, etc, but when it comes to making phone calls, I cannot. Of course this is a designated Sprint ROM, but anyone have any idea how to get the actual phone connection activated? Advice is much appreciated.

scratch that, fellas. i got it.

Ok how did you guys do it?
Please a step by step. How to root, unlock bootloader, unlock carrier for the sim.
HTC desire 625 cricket wireless. Thanks really

Some details would be awesome. I just got my Desire 625 on Cricket and would love to root to be able to use it as a hotspot, a custom ROM is a bonus. Any help, guys?

Never mind, figured it out. First step is to unlock the boot loader through HTC, fast boot flash a custom recovery (I used TWRP for the desire 626s), flashed supersu, got root. Be warned though. This thing blazes through battery, it's ridiculous.

I just got mine rooted, unlocked bootloader. Is xposed working for anyone.
So desire 626s is like the 625? So do the roms work as well. I kinda figured they was. Was reading a boot loader unlock and sim pin on xda, some one confirmed it worked for 625. (sorry I am not giving props to the wonderful people who worked hard and risked a brick. Thank you and sorry for being lazy)

Did it work? Most of the cases on eBay are for 626..

Don't need to use a case because the phone is cheap.

double-tap to wake screen, can this phone do that? I can't seem to figure it out if so

Hey man its an old thread bur i really wanna know this, i can buy this 626s 8 gb very cheap (80 bucks) but i wanna know if it lags a lot (whatever outperforms my piece of **** iphone 4 iis good) but its only 8gb so, can i install apps in Sd card? Like i love real racing 3 but it weights 3 gb+ so... I also saw the desire 530 wich for what i see has the same specs but its 16 gb so should i get that one instead? I also can get an lg g2 for extra 30 bucks, you think that would be better? Cause i really wanna try an htc device. Not very interested in using different roms but i could root it, what do you think?

I am having a problem where after flashing Recovery to the phone (with "update partition ok") when loading Recovery, HTC logo flickers off, and I have a blank screen...
I cannot get any recovery to work on this phone... Tried all the ones linked... Any ideas?

htc magic question...pleese help

Hi, i am planing to buy the htc magic this weekend with vodafone australia.
I heard the the sense ui (hero rom) will be an update for the device in the neer future.
but i also heard that it will only be coming to specific magic devices...something about weather it has google written on it or something.
I was wondering weather anyone has any idea on weather the htc magic with Vodafone Australia will be getting this update.
If this is not possible i know i am able to root my device and get the sense UI. But will it work just as good as on the hero? As it only has 192mb ram and 288 on hero.
also, if i am going to have to root the device. Does anyone have the stock rom for the australian vodafone magic?
I am warried that i will not be able to find the right rom as vodafone australia has made their own little teaks to the rom, and if its any different it will void my warrenty. :S
P.S If there is any reason why i should not buy this phone, PLEESE TELL ME.
P.P.S I know theres no bluetooth for file sharing yet but i also heard theres an app called bluexx or somthing. I heard for some countries this app doesnt work... has anyone in australia got bluetooth to work?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE! AND SORRY FOR LONG POST.
OMG...i just found out that if u buy the phone with three then it hasn't got the with google written on the back....and on the three version it has 288mb ram instead of the 192mb with vodafone.
So if you buy the phone with three you get updates??
and if you buy it with vodafone you don't?
that's a scam...
It's a shame because vodafone is offering a much better deal, i guess this is why.
i'll still probly end up rooting it. so all other questions still need answering badly.
PLEASE HELP
AND THANKS

ahhh thank you very much!
just what i wanted
I am starting to lean towards the hero though :S
The only differences between the two are,
multitouch,
Teflon coating,
5mp camera,
flash player 10
umm
I think that multitouch on the magic actually works
and I'm pretty sure you can get flash player for magic aswell?
could anyone confirm that these are the only differences?
and if the other 2 can be added on magic?

flash is available on hero rom.
multi-touch is avail on hero rom
I can see your issue but here is the main thing- here in australia, the magic is here and now- here- no wrranty issues (if buying OS), the Hero wont be here for another month or 2 and oyu know that release dates often get pushed back, by the time it is released there will be an even faster/prettier phone being released 2months after......
I love my magic- wasnt sure i would, just wanted the 3 half price data plan...was gonna sell on ebay and keep my g1.....now for limestar's super android phone (see whirlpool forums) coming at the end of the year....the magic will do me until then.....

ohhh, and with copilot, i heard that it's going to be getting australian maps next month or so.
seems as it has a picture of hero with copilot, im guessing it will come out when hero does?? anyone with more information on that pleese tell. ^.^
I have the vadaphone $59 plan and it great.
Small issue though that after 2 days of excitement and grabing as much as I can from the market, mid stream using the internet explorer someone rang and the unit haulted. After a reset I had the android boot loop which forced me to change the rom.
I went and uploaded the Fatality Hero, its great but slowish at times, internet seems slower and 3g not working.
Is there an aussie rom that has the hero roms that work with our 3g.

This is probably something you've already tried but if 3g is not working make sure your APN settings are filled out correctly as it may not have auto-detected. Had this issue with dad's Magic (he bought one outright the day he saw mine delivered from 3).
Beautiful device. Though I hope we'll still get Android 2.0 when it hits because from what I hear most of the Android devices next year will be on Snapdragon (1 ghz chip) which will probably **** on the magic hardware wise. Still a while away yet.

Ordered my Blade/San Fransisco!

Hey,
Just ordered mine from Orange for £79.99 a bargain if you ask me!
Sorry to start yet another thread but I have a few questions!
Anyone unlocked this to 3?
Any major issues with it once rooted with CM7?
Does it have wifi hotspot option?
Can the CPU be clocked?
Anyone tried removing the Orange branding on the back?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Anyone unlocked this to 3? "Yes"
Any major issues with it once rooted with CM7? "Best bet is to flash and try i'm still using 2.2 as don't find CM7 stable enough for everday use"
Does it have wifi hotspot option? "Yes on 2.2 is available and using now over 3 network"
Can the CPU be clocked? "Yes and running @ 690Mhz some people can go higher"
Anyone tried removing the Orange branding on the back? "Get an android sticker form ebay search android sticker will see the one as says covers SF"
Have fun with new device for the price there very good handset
Personally I've found CM7 almost ready for everyday use, few niggly bugs but try it out. Also if you need unlock code and guides to rooting check www.orangesanfrancisco.co.uk

Anyone unlocked this to 3?
Yes I have unlocked and using my wife's on a 3 contract. just use the ZTE Black Unlock APK really really easy
Any major issues with it once rooted with CM7?
No issues at all works great I would not recommend installing apps to the SD that comes with the phone as it seems to slow everything up. (We were use S2E from the market), oh only issue is the wifi wake issue but intstall Blade WiFi fix from the market and you will have no issues
Does it have wifi hotspot option?
Yes CM7 has this by default
Can the CPU be clocked?
Yes don't expect miracles, we managed 710mhz max stable what ever you do don't set it to boot at the speed until you are sure its stable as you will have to reinstall from a backup if you do
Anyone tried removing the Orange branding on the back?
No, to be honest you kind of forget its there, it does feel slightly raised I wouldn't risk trying to get it off
This is the really nice guide I followed to root and unlock the phone really easy
www.chrislowthian.co.uk/how-to-unlock-de-brand-and-root-the-zte-blade-orange-san-francisco/1824/
Ok done all the above, no problems at all, my blade does feel somewhat laggy though, not much diff to Orange branded OS, I didn't expect the smoothness of my DHD though, not sure if pumping my CPU to 750mhz and locking up the OS might have affected it? Rebooted back to normal but it just feels like its dying a slow death, how smooth is everyone else's? Cheers.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Ruñning cm 7.0.0 stable release working great no problems
Sent from my Blade using XDA Premium App
I wouldn't go over 650MHz. Are you using Apps2Sd (EXT version) if so is your SD card a class 2 card? Mines smooth on CM7 with Live Wallpapers. Maybe it just feels slower since you're coming from a Desire HD?
Well One Problem With The "Stable" Release Is that it reboots when you charge it.
Also Make Sure You Have A GEN 1 phone or CM7 Will brick it unless you install the special rom addon
It won't brick it, just won't boot up. This is due to incorrect Lib files.
I am on CM 7.0 stable also. Everything works perfect, except when I charge it reboots 1 time and then is ok. For first 5 chargings or so it did not restart at all. Could be when I use GPS?
Today I decrease min frequency to 122 Mhz instead of 2xx. Should this extend my battery life?
Sent from my Blade using Tapatalk
hi, i got one stupid q: if i install custom rom /CM will i loose aftermarket warranty?
thanks.
If u modify your phone in anyway u void warranty but you can always revert to stock for warranty.

ok, i will consider it... i think i would wait month longer and if orange wont do anything so i will..

Can't see Orange doing an update to 2.2 christ they don't even sell screen protectors for the device still to which when the UK network distributor you'd expect.

[Q] Selling a rooted MT4G with custom ROM

Hi there I rooted and installed Virtuous Unity with Sense 3.0 with Clockwork Mod successfully on a MyTouch 4G and I also installed the Genius button fix to make it work. It was my first root and custom ROM installation, yay, and it is certainly not my last one either I didn't unlock it for AT&T or Simple Mobile because of the possible risks involved. It runs absolutely awesome and I am planning to sell it on Craigslist since that phone is an extra one that I bought for $ 180 on Craigslist a while ago. Unfortunately, that phone has the "bad", washed out screen but the ROM looks surprisingly good on the screen. I really have absolutely NO idea how much I could ask for it. Do people pay more because of the root and custom ROM? I want to at least break even, preferably make a little bit of money extra. Any input is greatly appreciated !!
Thanks !!
If you post it in the market section, they are going for about 220 right now.
FYI any Simple Mobile sim will work on the phone without the need to unlock as i was thinking the same when i got mine and it was a matter of just putting the sim in and fire it up Simple Mobile = T Mobile.
Thank You !!

Wow, that is very interesting !! I didn't know that IF AT&T actually gets the green light to take over T-Mobile, we're planning on changing over to Simple Mobile. I am still hoping that the merger won't go through, but then, if it does, we'll be all set. Thank you for the info !!

Let me know how it goes. I'd like to root mine as soon as it comes in as well.
I was also reading about how the R1 does not support CDMA, however I read that the MTK6735 and 6732 were the first MediaTek boards to support CDMA. Either this phone actually does support it, or it's disabled somehow. Enabling this to work with CDMA would open a whole new market for these, as people on Sprint/Verizon can buy and use these as well (and that could mean more devs working on ROMs)

Got mine yesterday....honestly, I love this little phone. It performs way better than my tired S5 even with over 80 apps installed on it last night. I wouldn't mind seeing CM built for this, but to be honest, I'm just going to try rooting. This is about as close to plain Android as you can get.

I have experience porting MTK ROMs, in the sense that I think I know what I'm supposed to do. Has it ever worked...not really. I've ran into what seems to be SELinux issues with every ROM I've tried to port to my Studio X+, but the SELinux problems are kernel related, not necessarily ROM related. When I get mine I'll be attempting to port ROMs, maybe even TWRP to this.
Also, if anyone gets it rooted let me know what you used so I can use that root method on mine when it arrives.
Oh and just out of curiosity, how's the battery life on this phone? Maybe also list your carrier you're using on it, as I'm sure the phone searching for cell signal if it's weak can have an impact on battery life.

Yea I just tried the app and desktop version with no luck
I'm sure someone here will find a way.
I just rebooted into bootloader (adb reboot bootloader), and issued the "fastboot oem unlock" command. Text came up on the phone giving the normal warning about custom OS not being subjected to the same testing, blah, blah, blah. Then it gave the option to continue with unlocking the bootloader, but I said no because its too late to go through with a factory reset tonight. So, long story short, it looks like we can unlock the bootloader pretty straightforward
The actual package that serves the ads is com.amazon.phoenix
The permissions for this app is locked down, though. I tried `adb shell` into `pm disable` `pm uninstall` etc and nothing worked. It's probably not possible to disable/uninstall the ad package without rooting the phone.

I did the same, however once you go to unlock it fails. Looks like we're gonna need an exploit to root this. I tried framaroot as other blu phones work with it, but no luck. Also tried Kingroot, no dice there either.
i wonder if we could get ahold of and flash the vanilla rom on the amazon prime version. i would be great
Thumbs Down Blu
I got mine from Prime yesterday and have tried every root method known to man.Tried every bootloader unlock method I could try.No dice period.Really surprising that they would go the extra mile to keep us looking at their ads(Amazon).I've already repackaged mine and am sending it back.It was more of a curiosity to me than anything.Curiosity and disappointment fulfilled all in the same moments.

Any owners or prospective owners out there?

I actually work for Sprint and would consider picking up this phone if it got some decent developer support. If anyone has any basic questions about the device or its specs feel free to ask as I have played with it pretty extensively. It's an HTC device so hopefully it has an unlockable bootloader?
I should be receiving my Bolt in a few days, but I recall HTC stating that phones 2011 and newer will be able to unlock their bootloaders but certain models will be unlockable due to operators restriction.
Hopefully this phone gets some decent developer support.
Nice. As far as we can get it - m9 will get N faster) I'm also wanting to take a look at bolt's audio system, but system dump needed.

By N do you mean nougat? Cause the Bolt comes with Nougat 7.0 out of the box. First HTC phone to get it.
Also I'm not sure if XDA's description of the Bolt where it states the device is a mid range one from HTC is accurate. This is clearly intended to be a flagship. Sure it has the SD 810, but even in 2016 that is hardly a mid range SOC, and the device has many flagship qualities like a 5.5 inch quad HD display, an all metal unibody design with water resistance, large battery, USB type C, expandable storage, latest version of Android, etc.
There is even the whole LTE plus support thing which is a quality that other flagship on Sprint do not have. Oh and it has a 16mp camera with OIS. How exactly is this a mid range?
I have played with this phone a lot at work and it is very responsive. I don't think the SD 810 makes a difference.

I didn't do the HTC unlock. I tried sunshine in hopes of getting lucky and not having to use HTC unlock... No luck... Once I unlock bootloader, I'll try sunshine again.

I don't think sunshine will work yet...their website shows it supports up to android 6.0.1...jcase needs some partitions pulled to be able to update
Well... After my pizza arrives, I'll start the process of rooting this bad boy. My plan is HTC unlock, flash twrp, flash SuperSU. Once I get root, I'll pull whatever info jcase needs... What's all this talk about data partition getting corrupted after unlock?

You can unlock it but obtaining root is a different story... I've been slowly working on it with OMJ's help. I can't get SuperSU to flash and actually mod the boot.img...
If you have any luck, please let me know what you did. Thanks!
