UK - EE If I network-unlock a phone, can I install unlocked firmware? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I am afraid the title pretty much sums it up
I bought an S7 Edge locked on EE - if I use an IMEI/Network unlock code to use my card (vodafone), can I also use ODIN to install the official Samsung europe/unlocked firmware, or will my phone get 'relocked' on the network afterwards?
My thanks

I did this with my s7 edge which was locked on o2 when I got it. I unlocked my phone and then installed generic UK firmware using odin and all is good :good: I currently have an EE sim in my s7 edge and it works fine. Hope this helps

you can install unlocked firmware at any time.
unlocking allows you to use your vodafone sim. unlocking is permanent.
keep the unlock code in a safe place as it can be used more than once if necessary.

Yes, unlocking is permanent.

[Q] Unbranding my Note4

I have a question can I flash unbranded latest firmware on my T-mobile branded N910F without tripping KNOX?
If yes can i have link for latest lets say German DBT firmware? Thank you
Yes bro , u can use ODIN to flash the firmware and via ODIN knox doesn't trip. Warranty only gets void, if KONX trips.
and do you by any chance have some fast link for k4 firm?

Yes, you can. But there's something you should know.
A branded Note 4 usually does NOT have that dreaded "Region Lock", prohibiting the use of any local SIM cards saving you a wealth of money if you're abroad. Check the box your Note came in. If there's no sticker informing about the device being locked to a special region of use, you don't have that Samsung disease.
Flashing a stock ROM is likely to activate that mindless "Region Lock".
So remember to flash an original carrier firmware prior to leaving for vacation.

Unbranding has nothing do with the network lock.
I guess this is what I was looking for, so what I understand is, that on my Tmobile US note4, I can flash firmware of international version, and then my note4 will be like non carrier version Note4.
Yes, my device is already unlocked.

Flashing international Firmware

Hello everyone,
yesterday, a family member gifted me an s7 from the USA (SM-G930P). He bought the phone off SPRINT as a SPRINT unlocked version, and, of course, because I live in Europe and want to use the phone with a European SIM card I have the "hands free activation" mark that is sitting on the top left edge of the display. I also noticed some changes, for example the "mobile data" toggle is nowhere to be found and also I don't have the options to choose the network mode (2G/3G/4G). I love the phone and I also would like to keep using it, I only need some answers from you guys.
My first question is, if the phone will actually let me use 4G network with my European SIM card, or will I be limited to 3G?
My second question is, If I can flash an international firmware for another carrier and another country on the phone, and if so, will I have the advantages of that firmware, like the Mobile Data Toggle??
Thank you very much for your answers.
If you install the 'Network' app you might be able to change the network type.
In general you should be able to use an unlocked P variant with a foreign SIM but you may have to activate with a Sprint SIM first.
You can't flash the international version since it's Exynos and the P version is Qualcomm CPU.
I am not sure if this model has Samsung region lock which is another thing to consider.
If I was you I would try to flash the U firmware (US unlocked) as it has the most support for international 4G bands among the Qualcomm US models. It also doesn't have all of the Sprint bloatware on it.

Thank you for your reply. I am currently using the European Sim from my carrier and I have no problems with it. I managed to get rid of the Bloatware by using Package Disabler Pro, but it still sits there somewhere on my phone. So far, the phone is working very well and other than the bloat sitting on my memory and the lack of LTE, I have no complaints.
Can you tell me if someone has tried to flash the U firmware on a P model with success?

Could you tell me how you did it, or link me a guide??
I had bought an unlocked Sprint galaxy S7 (930P) off ebay which died on me. Got it repaired from the service center and they sent me a locked device instead. The phone is currently on Software Version - G930PVPS4BQC1 and the hardware revision is Rev 0.6. I'll be using the phone in India and have a few questions.
1. I need to get this SIM unlocked from a service online. Does anyone know of a reliable place to do so?
2. If I flash the U Rom on it after unlocking it, will I lose the unlock? (I don't mind downgrading from Nougat to Marshmallow)
3. Should I unlock first then flash the ROM or flash the ROM first and then try to get it unlocked?
4. Will flashing the ROM directly unlock the phone itself?
Please advise.
...
you could try gsm zambia to unlock your phone it works i tried it myself a few days ago, also after my phone got unlocked i flash the U firmware/rom and the unlocked remained. so you should unlock your device first then flash the U firmware :good:
PS. if you one nougat better to downgrade if you can do marshmallow so when you wont have any issues flashing to U firmware. :cool

Preventing carrier update on Unlocked S7 Edge?

Hi, I have an unlocked US S7 edge that I bought from B&H. I've been using it lately with a T-Mobile SIM. It looks like it has downloaded a T-Mobile security update and is asking to install. I do not want to do this as I suspect it will lock me to a carrier once updated. I've tried resetting the phone and removing the SIM card, but the update downloads every time. Is there a way to disable this or remove the downloaded update? I would like to upgrade to Nougat and I suspect the unlocked phone will get it much faster than the T-Mobile version.

Once your phone is unlocked none of the tmobile or any other updates from any place
can re-lock your phone. It will remain unlocked regardless if you choose to update
firmware, security patches and any other updates.
Unlocked samsung phones are permanently unlocked.
Goodl luck,
Have a great day!

Flashing from VZW to XAC ?

Hi, I'm really confused, can I permanently remove Verizon (SM-G950U, CRB9 (Oreo)) from my phone by flashing the Canadian firmware ?
If it's possible, how can I do that ? And I've an activated SIM card in my phone, does phone/message/LTE will still work after (I'm using a GSM provider called «Bell» (I'm Canadian)) ?
Thank

Flashing your phone with the Canadian firmware will remove the Verizon bloatware, but will not carrier unlock the phone. That is to say the unlocked firmware is not an unlocked phone.
I find this post incredibly helpful:

Should i change the CSC? Unlocked Network

Hi. Recently i bought an S10+ and what i heard from the buyer is that the S10+ was locked on EE UK. (And after, he unlocked it)
I'm stuck on May update (SE7 EVR) so i was thinking to change the ROM to POL(Poland) for example.
It will be locked again on EE UK if i flash with Odin and change the ROM?
After the network sim unlock phone is unlocked no matter the rom.
