[Q] Unbranding my Note4 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a question can I flash unbranded latest firmware on my T-mobile branded N910F without tripping KNOX?
If yes can i have link for latest lets say German DBT firmware? Thank you

Yes bro , u can use ODIN to flash the firmware and via ODIN knox doesn't trip. Warranty only gets void, if KONX trips.

and do you by any chance have some fast link for k4 firm?

Hi there,
Can i suggest before you do it, i suggest to Network unlock your phone first. that's what i did before installing the unbranded firmware which you can find in Sammobile. im in O2 UK and after unlocking the Network unlock, i installed the unlock firmware using odin. since its a gebuine firmware, it didnt trgger the knox.

Yes, you can. But there's something you should know.
A branded Note 4 usually does NOT have that dreaded "Region Lock", prohibiting the use of any local SIM cards saving you a wealth of money if you're abroad. Check the box your Note came in. If there's no sticker informing about the device being locked to a special region of use, you don't have that Samsung disease.
Flashing a stock ROM is likely to activate that mindless "Region Lock".
So remember to flash an original carrier firmware prior to leaving for vacation.

Unbranding has nothing do with the network lock.

I guess this is what I was looking for, so what I understand is, that on my Tmobile US note4, I can flash firmware of international version, and then my note4 will be like non carrier version Note4.
Yes, my device is already unlocked.

What happens if I flashed another country firmware??

Suppose in the case I bricked my phone and I don't know the baseband version of it. Now what is the option to recover? Flash stock firmware via Odin but don't know the baseband??? What will happens if I flash another country stock firmware?? Will the phone hard brick?? Or it will work fine?? Thank you
The worst case is that your sim card will not work with that software. This is only if your phone is carrier locked.
If it is unlocked, or neverlocked as others put it, then you can flash any firmware you like, as long as it is for your respective phone model.

You should flash Nepal firmware then. It would give you better (more match) CSC code. The CSC (Consumer Software Customization) code contains the info about software packages specific to a particular region, carrier branding and also APN (Access Point Name) settings for data connection.
In my case, my S4 i9500 was made in Vietnam and when I received it, it had a Thailand firmware on it. It is a network unlocked phone. I live in USA. The first lollipop firmware came out was for Russia. So I flahsed the Russian firmware. My CSC showed that it is a russian phone. I used that phone on AT&T network that available in USA, China and Korea, and I had no problem.
Nothing will happen.
@sway8966
Are you really to suggest him to flash Nepali firmware on UK phone? I'll unlock it (the carrier-lock) first and then flash other countries' firmware if need.

Sorry to bump this up but im having problems with my s6 edge (Maybe because of this).
I recently acquired a phone from a relative from UK. The OS is android 7.0 and the carrier is three.co.uk (H3G), we have reset the phone to its factory settings and accidentally didnt noticed that it do auto update on the OS, then this bootloops starts to occur.
The phone isnt network-locked because the phone can receive signals, messages and phone calls on local sim.
Now upon browsing around SamMobile, There is an available Firmware for this mobile and even the firmware which is available to Philippines but only ver. 6.0.1
Is this possible to use the PH one or still i go to UK(h3g)?
help please
once i take the firmware from other countries and then i install to my phone,
does my phone will going to operate that firmware even if it come from another country
because i tried to find firmware according to my respective country unfortunately i missed it.
so please i need your assistance ..please

Understanding flashing

Hi guys,
Just bought a galaxy s5 from my uncle who worked in Canada, the phone was locked to Telus Canada I unlocked it through unlockBase which was superfast and easy.. I have now really started using this phone and have now realised that the date format is different to what I usually use, I have done some research and found that an update stopped the ability to change it to prevent blackmarket sales or whatever.. I was thinking can I just flash a uk rom on the phone or not? But will it relock the phone? Also will rooting the phone enable me to change it? Although I don't wanna root because my online banking app won't work or WhatsApp?
Thanks in advance guys

This is definitely one of the strangest reasons for rooting...
But since it's a Telus phone its definitely a G900W8. You can cross flash all and only G900w8 firmwares so i.e. you can flash Rogers on bell, wind on telus, sasktel on koodo, etc

Thanks for the reply, yes rooting was the last option as some apps won't work.. so if i was to flash it i would only be able to use telus firmware which is US could I flash a UK firmware on it? And if I was to flash it would it still stay unlocked or will it need reunlocking?
EDIT: done some more research.. will changing the csc code on my phone to one of a uk firmware, then installing a uk firmware work?

Nope because anything outside of Canada uses a completely different phone model and flashing between different models will likely lead to a bricked phone (phone is damaged unrecoverable)

If you would check some threads there are answers to all of your questions.
1. You can use Odin to flash the 930U firmware on a 930V. The 930U is the unlocked version of the phone that will work on any carrier's network and has no bloatware.
2. The most current update for the 930V is PF2.
3. Google released Android 7 only yesterday so it will not come to Samsung devices for 2 or 3 months at the earliest.

1. A Verizon S7 930V will never be sim locked. No Verizon phone will be sim locked. If paid to have it sim unlocked you were misled. If your phone was sim locked you do not have a Verizon S7.
2. There are a few threads with the information about flashing the 930U firmware. If you cannot find it you did not look very hard. There is a thread a few below this one.

Can I flash XAC firmware on my Rogers SM-G950W?

So it's basically the title. I bought a Rogers(RWC) model of Galaxy S8 G950W and I wanna re-flash the firmware to an unbranded one like the XAC one. The thing is I saw that the Rogers baseband is not unlocked and the XAC is an unlocked one. Can I flash the unlocked firmware on a unlocked one? RWC to XAC
Cheers!
Yes you can, but don't assume that you will unlock your phone after you flash that firmware. If you want to unlock your phone, contact other site that will offer for factory unlocking on that phone or use any gadgets tool that support on that phone.
Note: becareful of modifying the baseband of your phone mostly to those enable bootloader and Knox, cause you may brick your phone or unknown baseband.

The only reason I want XAC is because it's unbranded and without bloatware apps. I think my phone is already carrier unlocked because when I bought it I specified that I will use it in another country. I've been using it with no issues in Romania for half a year now. What do you mean with baseband modifying? I will just flash the exact same firmware as the one I have now but from XAC not RWC. It's my first time doing this. I've did a lot of research but I'm still a bit worried about doing it.
No need to flash anything you can simply change the csc to xac and it'll wipe the phone.
so was their any problem?
i see both rogers and xac on sammobile
which is better?

Other firmwares will work you might just be missing features like WiFi calling. I don't know the exact dialer code but they is a preconfig dialer code to select csc so once you got the latest you could try that. All the firnwares are identical for each us model you wont brick from flashing another carriers
So thats yes right? I can use other carrier rom without any problem?
please some one answer... my device is att s8 smg950u. so can i use smg950u1 firmware to flash 950u?

As long as it's unlocked. A g950 u. U1 and w all can use any csc from carrier firmware. Pop your sim in and flash your carriers csc from firmware
My phone is G950U but it's made in China and works fine with Bulgarian SIM. I have no info about the original carrier. CSC code is TGY, can I flash G950U1 with CSC XAA (Unlocked)?

Yes, the thing is I don't have my carrier CSC available for download since I'm using it in Europe. Wondering if I need to revert flash how to source TGY (Hong Kong) factory rom? Seems all available for download are US-based CSCs only.
My main concern is OTA is currently failing completely, I am hoping to restore by moving away from the TGY code, does that need carrier switching process or just flash 950U1 on top including user data ?

Im pretty sure u1 model pretty much is csc-less i would try to flash the u1 firmware directly and flash the home csc in u1 firmware which should leave it open. BL" "AP" "CP" "CSC" is all you should flash. User data would add a carrier. If you dont it will leave it open.....
If updates are all your lookong for. Just use odin to manually update

You are either using the wrong odin or a older firmware.
Or. To flash unlocked firmware you must first flash the combination file then unlocked firmware.
