Faking location on Android Device Manager - Hardware Hacking General

Hello. Long story short, my girlfriend has overprotective parents who track her location and don't allow her to go downtown with me or go to my house. They use android device manger. And no, she's not twelve.
I downloaded a location spoofer app from the Google play store and put a fake location on her phone. I tested the app on my phone and the location worked. The issue is, on her account, it shows that her location is disabled but it should show the fake location I've set up, just like on my account. I've got a Galaxy S4 LTE and she's got the LTE-A version, my OS is AOSP 6.0.1 and hers is the newest Touchwiz, both downloaded from xda, both rooted. Please, is there a way to fake the location? Anything, I'd be very glad if you told me.

Anyone please?

Did u enable mock location in setting?

Yes, I have

Try other fake location apps

What fake locations app are you using? I've had great success with one called Fake Location Spoofer free on the play store. Also if you use lucky patcher you can get the full paid version but it works with free edition.

You have to root the Phone, then you can move the GPS-Spoofer-APK to /system/app and you can fake position without "Mock Location"
PS: Use the App "Fake GPS location" made by "Lexa"
I'll post the URL later

ADM likely does not report mocked locations, you will need a app that can use root to fake location instead of the standard mock location. An Xposed mod called "Hide Mock Location" will do the trick.
And for your bigger problem, I would buy a cheap ics+ phone for about 30 USD sign into it with the account that the parents use, and then ask your girlfriend to create a new google account to use on her main phone. Keep the cheap phone at home or school or whatever, and connect it to Wi-Fi.
Hope this helps! Glad to see some legitimate uses for faking location other than the pokemon go game stuff that has been infecting the internet.
Here is a cheap phone that will do the trick, feel free to use anything that will run gapps though.

Just modify buildprop to make it look like an s4

It actually works now without a flaw, must've been a temporary issue. Thanks a lot for your help! The thread is resolved.

Glad to hear! I tested it on my g3 with an aosp rom and it worked. :highfive:
Be careful, if you accidently turn off mock location, ADM will briefly report the real location and it may show up as a "last known location" for some accounts. AFAIK ADM doesn't have a "cheat detection" like PokeGo or Ingress.

[Q] GPS navigation services

I'm new to smart phones. The Atrix is my first one. I apologize for asking what may be a very trivial question, but I simply don't know much about apps and services and costs associated with them.
I'm interested in GPS navigation services that I can use with my phone. There is a default app on the Atrix called AT&T Navigation. Is this linked to the AT&T navigation service that costs $9.99 per month?
I don't want to spend a lot of money on a subscription because I don't need driving directions very often. Are there any navigation services that do not require a monthly subscription? Free would be ideal. A low cost per use might do. A monthly subscription service doesn't fit my needs.

well, i personally cant get the navigation app to lock on and work for the freaking life of me. not sure what the prolem is, it just stays loading forever, showing something like "accessing navigation services" or something similar.
my GPS test app does show me locking onto satelites and being accurate within about 16 or 17 feet though

Mine did that at first, then after reloading the app or rebooting, it worked. Not sure what it was looking for.

Are u using it with the wifi on or off. I use mine without the wife and im get locks quickly down to 2 meters. you could try that.
I used the Maps and got a lock within seconds and its showing location of where i'm at down to within 1 foot.

Make sure you have the latest version of Maps (5.1 IIRC) from the market. I had the exact same issue but updating Maps fixed it.

The first hint of an answer I can understand. From the above statement, I infer that Maps is an application that one can obtain from the market. I assume the Market icon that appears on my phone is what is referred to.
When I click on the Market icon, it directs me to create a Google account. Bummer. I'm not all that interested in creating multiple new accounts to use this phone (motoblur, google, what next?)

I am not sure why you're bothered by the need to create a Google account to fully utilize this phone. What's wrong with having a one-stop-shop for all your contacts, calendars, messages, app purchases? Having this account simplifies your life beyond what a PC can do for you since everything is stored in the "cloud", and should you choose to change your device once you'll log in to your new phone all that data will follow you automatically eliminating the need to ever connect your phone to a computer. Anyways, if you want to download apps from the Market you'll need a Google account, plain and simple.
What bothers me the most is the need for yet another account, payment method, and email address to keep track of. I already manage around two dozen personal email accounts and I have several ways to pay for services online. The more email addresses one has, the more spam one must deal with. The more payment methods one has, the more fraud risk one is exposed to.
Besides that, I don't want any contacts associated with an account I use for payments. It appears that I'll have to set up a google account so I can use the Android Market. I hope I can avoid having it disclosed to anyone else.
Do you not have a Gmail account that you use for email?
I do not currently have a Gmail account. But it appears I'm going to end up with one.
Yeah, but thats with any smartphone. You would need an account for the Apple App Store, Blackberry App World, etc. Nothing to be bummed about though

Here is something to consider about the decision to have a google account.

[Q] Installing apps that require location

Is there a way to get applications to install on the Kindle Fire that require location? I don't plan on using the location part of these apps but I would like the other features on them.
I can't get them to side load. It keeps saying it can't install the application.
I still don't know why they didn't include WiFi location on this thing. That would be good enough for me and there isn't anymore cost to Amazon.

Have you tried enabling mock locations and even going so far as to set up tetherGPS?
Also, what apps are you trying to load that aren't loading?
I'm having the same problem with various apps. The good news is that the Amazon app store is expanding rapidly and the apps you want may be available there now.

Never heard of mock locations, I will have to look into that.
The two apps that I would like either or of are c:geo or the geocaching app. Mainly for getting info and logging.

Thanks, I will have to keep on checking to see if they get available. Being that they are location based apps, who knows if Amazon will allow you to install them.
I would love for someone to figure out a way to install the Google location into the Kindle Fire.
Mock locations work. In addition to enabling that and finding Assn app to fake location you'll need to enable network, gps as location sources as this fields outs used to determine requisite location processing regardless of whether you have GPS or cellular chips.
You should be able too follow generic mock location instructions for gingerbread, you'll also need to edit settings.DB manually.

Well the main issue is will the app install then? I'm thinking the Fire is rejecting any app that says it requires location services to be enabled.
Well I finally got the app to install. It only took editing the AndroidManifest.xml file. I took out the line that says it needs to use the maps library.. The app installs, but won't run because it requires this library. Force closes everytime. Now we know the issue why it's not installing. No Google libraries are on the Amazon Kindle.
Well I got the application to install and work successfully. The issue was not having the Google Maps framework installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20123452 .
And then on top of that I enabled mock locations which helps with the app as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362472

Location Spoofer app

Anyone know of a location spoofing app that works?
At Bat works great with video and all, but I can't watch the team I want to if the location can't be spoofed.
I tried Location spoofer and location spoofer pro, but neither launch. I thought it might be a maps dependency and have google maps working, but still no go.
Anyone know of one that works or I can try?

I don't know about most of question. I only recently got my Ouya and haven't must time with it yet. As for At Bat, you do realize it does a two step process of verifying your location--GPS and IP. If both don't match, then no video.
Also, there may be an issue with it not having any kind of gps built into the unit. It makes sense because what purpose would it serve. That said, its possible that a GPS spoofer could still work. In regards to MLB, the first thing it checks is if mock locations is allowed.
There are some tricks around this I've used on mobile devices, but I'm not going to get into the discussion here.

Smart lock not working with BOB7?

After i installed BOB7 update (did a complete re-install) the smartlock function dont work at all. I can add places and bt device, but still have to use pattern. Did work before BOB7 (NL9 was it?)....
I am a bit unsure if the play services has ben updated just this week and thats the reason?! I always get 2 google play services stopped working at each boot.

I habe a similar problem. With my Nexus10 and my S5 smart-lock is not OK with GPS since Google Play Services 7.0.
Nexus 10 runs with Android 5.1 and the S5 with BOB7.
I wait for update of play services.

Smart-lock is OK again at Nexus10 and S5 without any change at my side.

I just loaded G900FXXU1BOA3 on my S5 - SM-G900F and was very disappointed to see only trusted devices in smartlock..... wanted to use trusted face / or trusted places. Played around by uninstalling updates for play services and then re-installing. At one stage the trusted places suddenly was available. I tried loading latest play services from apk mirror: 7.0.93 (1778921-438), now my trusted places has disappeared again, so it seems to be somehow part of the play services, that controls this feature I guess. Seems this feature is not properly working for a lot of people judging by forums etc.

I had this problem when I installed XtreStoLite ROM (BOB7) Coming from Stock (BOB3). Couldn't get Smart Lock to work from a trusted place (the way I use it). I did many things trying SmartLock to work, and I think one worked for me.
Here's what I did: When you open Trusted Places, usually there's a home address there, and it should work with that one, so I added one more address to my trusted places, this time using the GPS, so the address wasn't quite right (actually it's my neighbour's addres).
Then after a minute it worked. No more unlocking my phone with my fingerprint when I'm at home.
I still need to wait for a couple minutes after every boot for this to work. What I think has worked for me also, is open an app that uses GPS (e.g. Maps or any weather app) in my case I use 1Weather. I think by doing this, currently location is updated and that way Smart Lock can work.
By the way, I still get a Google Play Services has stopped on every boot.
Don't know if this will work for somebody else, but I hope it does :good:

Thanks, I just did this on my N4 and it worked. Google has always thought I lived a few houses down the street. :highfive:
I've noticed that when I'm inside my house the Trusted Places thinks I'm actually in the middle of the street so my actual location falls outside the circle of "Home".
Added a new location that covers my driveway and sidewalk, and now it works.
Seems like this issue is fixed in the .97 release of google play services and to add a second trusted place at the same spot. I have no more play services stopped at boot anymore either.

I have issues with inconsistent or I'd rather say "almost not working" Smart Lock too. I have OC4 deodexed/rooted and set up lockscreen with fingerprint/password/pin/pattern. Despite of trying to scan my fingertips several times with different angles and stuff it still works so-so for pointing fingers and kinda bad for one-handed use with a thumb! BUT I'd better keep device secured (may be with pin or pattern) in case of lost or stolen phone with all my banking info and things like that will be available right away with a swipe! Smart lock/trusted places isn't working for me! I tried to downgrade/upgrade maps, play services, remove/add nearby places like next 2-3 houses but nothing helped. And apparently gps connection/location detection doesn't work instantly and shows my location in a circle of 20 blocks or so! BT trusted devices and on-body detection doesn't seem to work either... Any known workaround or temp fix?

[Solved] Mock locations - fake gps not working

Hey all,
Just got a 6p and have run into an issue. I need the ability to set a fake location but I can't seem to get it to stick on the 6p.
I have tried a few different apps and even ran the expert mode via root with the " Fake GPS" app by MegApps. The location settings are set to device only with both WiFi and Bluetooth scanning options turned off. Yet no matter what I seem to do, the phone still picks up its native gps signal canceling out my mock location.
Anyone know a fix or have any suggestion? Any insight would be appreciated
Running stock with root and tried android N
Edit: After trying numerous apps I finally found one that worked properly. Not sure what's different about it but "Location Cheater" in the play store works
Hey I saw three apps with "Location Cheater" as a name in the play store. Which one worked?
