At&t sim unlock software update issue - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hi
I have a at&t SIM unlocked Samsung s7 edge using in India .The unlock is from a third party and not the official at&t unlock . My phone is currently on marshmallow 6.0.1 version APD1 ,When I try for an update all I get is software upto date from the at&t servers. According to my knowledge I feel there were few security upgrades released by at&t and am not able to get the upgrades , is there any alternative for this ?? I believe no root available as of now for G935A .

Flash the latest U firmware instead. https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/samsung-sm-935u-firmware-install-guide-t3411451

Can I switch carrier firmware?

My phone is on G928VVRU2BPD4. It's a Verizon carrier unlocked phone I currently use it with AT&T I'm on marshmallow 6.0.1. Since I use it on AT&T I cannot get any Ota updates I have to use odin. My question is can I switch it to AT&T firmware? Also is the AT&T version root able if I am able to switch it?
Unfortunately no.If y had an....lets say g928f carrier locked then yes switching is easy but since you have an g928v (the v at the end stands for verizon) you cannot change to another firmware since its a verizon model and there are no other firmwares for it.

Why didnt my phone get nougat?

I recently bought my s7 edge directly from the samsung website at&t version and got it unlocked to be used on the tmobile network. I tried updating the phone to nougat but at&t software update would say that I am on the latest software which was 6.0.1. I even used a working at&t sim card because I thought maybe you need to be on their network but still it gave me the same thing. Finally I just used odin to update to nougat but I wanted to know if anyone knows why I was not able to update ota?

You are on the international version if you bought it directly from Samsung. They haven't released the international N for the S7 Edge. I know this is frustrating but you aren't the only one. If you can put up with ATTs bloat then go flash the Odin files, they have been released for ATT.

ATT unlocked G950U is not updating. Stuck at April firmware

So I got an ATT S8 the G950U version. I unlocked it via ATT with their unlock code.
since then using it on Indian carrier Airtel. I am not been able to get any software updates. Whenever I check for the updates it says its up to date. But its stuck at build number G950USQU1AQC9 and security patch of 1 march 2017.
How do I update this? Do I need to flash ATT software via ODIN? but I need to retain the unlocked status.
You wont get OTA unless you have an ATT sim in it i Think. Just flash G950U1 firmware which is the unlocked version sold by samsung.
I bought a sprint s8 and flashed G950U1 firmware and using on Airtel. Moreover you wont have any carrier bloatware.
It seems Smart Switch also updates when applying initialize. Not connecting your phone before starting up SS gives you the option to input model - and serial #.
And to my knowledge, once unlocked (free to use any SIM) stays unlocked.

Did you flash it with Odin? AFAIK its the only way for snapdragon models. Been away from android tinkering for a long while. Can you point me to relevant threads?
P.S. Are you able to get OTA now?
I have a similar issue but in the UK. Can't see OTA updates and it says up to date in Smart Switch. Is flashing the stock firmware risky or break knox? What are my options?
Search Updato.com for the latest G950U1 firmware. (XAA version is the best region to use in your case). Use THIS version of Odin to flash: http://dl.psouza4.com/android/Odin3_v3.12_PrinceComsy.zip
You will not get updates normally if you don't. Your phone is trying to contact AT&T servers but you don't have their sim card so it's not going to let you download it.

Be careful, the latest u1 firmware is a rev2 bootloader. It will probably be rootable like the n8 one is but no one has confirmed yet. There are also no ready to flash rooted ROMs with it
Root is worthless anyway.

What Firmware should I switch to for Oreo

I am unsure whether I need to change my firmware or not. I have the galaxy s8 at&t carrier unlocked variant. about 3 months ago I flashed the unlocked firmware on the phone so I could get updates. I'm using Walmart family mobile which is (MVNO) of Tmobile. I want to continue getting updates without bricking my phone. What should I do?

update to CRB1 from https://samsung.firmware.science/
My baseband version is G950U1UES2AQL1
My model number is SM-G950U1
I don't see either as an option on the link. any help?

Switching firmware for SM-G975U (need advice)

Hi guys, need some advice on S10+.
I'm from an Asia country and last year I bought a new S10+ from a online seller which does grey imports for mobile phones, because I want a Snapdragon version over the Exynos, which is what most Asia countries get.
The Model number (SM-975U) and Baseband version (G975USQS3CTB6) are indicating this is a US variant but I can't tell which carrier it is because there is no carrier logo on the phone or when I turn on the phone, no bloatwares as well.
The only down side is this Baseband/carrier does not have updates since March 2020. I tried checking for updates but got nothing.
What I try to get:
1. Latest original firmware which will continue to update itself (hopefully)
2. No carrier bloatware
3. No need root or custom roms (Doesnt go well with banking apps)
I have experience rooting and flashing custom firmware on my previous Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but I can't remember if I have done unlocking bootloader before, lol.
Need advice on:
1. Which firmware should I choose?
2. I remember XDA forums used to have useful Guide under Sticky Threads but now I don't see it. I hope this guide will be able to help me with what I am trying to do.
3. I probably sound stupid here, is there any flashable settings file that is friendly to Asian region/telco? I am noticing a bit of network weakness on my phone, I hope its just me.
Thanks to anyone who reads this.
You've aquired the US Unlocked Snapdragon variant, it's not associated with any US carrier and it's not bootloader unlocked. Flashing updated FW is likely your best bet, it's available here.

The only other option for an update is Samsung's SmartSwitch. Whether or not it's compatible depends on your local service provider.
