[HELP] Problems with OTG - usb storage, usb joystick, sd card - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Model: ZE551KL
RAM: 3G
Firmware: LOLLIPOP 5.0.2
Rooted: No
I have several problems with my OTG conection,
1. When I try to plug in a USB joystick through OTG I canĀ“t make it work , the cellphone does not recognize the usb. but when I connect a mouse or a keyboard, they work fine, it just the joystick, I have tested the USB joystick in differents cellphones with OTG support and it works perfectly
2. I have a 32g sd card and few days ago it stopped working now I can not use it , the cellphone says that my sd card is empty and I have to format it, but when I format it, does not happen anything .. the cellphone only say, the sd card is empty (format or cancel)
3. finally I try to conect a 1T hard disk but the cellphone show me that the disk is empty but it is not empty , it works fine in my laptop and my moto g2
I appreciate your help to solve these problems

1. AFAIK, no standard for OTG. So Laser 2 might support mouse/keyboard/storage but not joystick.
2. Got corrupted or a bad card. How did you format it and with what format? e.g., not all card readers support sdxc. If cost not an issue, just get a new card BUT if some bad app corrupted the file system it might happen again.
3. Can't be sure but again maybe a limitation of the Laser 2 OTG implementation.

Dead MicroSD

Hello
My Touch HD can't read microSD cards anymore. One day I noticed that Storage card is missing from File Explorer. I put that card (an 8 Gb SanDisk SDHC) into my laptop's card reader and all I found out is that the card has bad sectors that cannot be recovered. So I bought another 8 Gb microSD which works OK with my card reader and my Polaris but the HD doesn't read it. When I connect the HD to my laptop I get the USB2PC popup where I have de Disk Drive option and if I select it nothing happends. What could be wrong?
ROM: 1.56.479.0
Radio: 1.13.25.24
SPL: 1.54 SSPL
I got mine to work by using

No problems since.

@Andrew
Nope... still nothing...
Ok check the pc to usb.
Check on the HD Start/Settings/Connections/USB to PC
UNCHECK Enable faster data sync
Boot your pc and HD then try the USB connection again.

I already did that and nothing happened...
Ok can you connect with Activesync to the Hd storage ?
@bigdish
I can connect ActiveSync to the internal storage only. The computer cannot read the microSD card unless i plug it in the card reader via an adapter. Nor the disk utility tools can't read the card through the usb cable connection, no mather which type of connection I choose in the USB2PC popup.
Mmm
My problem was different to yours - I cound see the card in the HD but the file info was garbage - my pc cardreader could not read it so thats why I suggested flash format which cured my problem.
Have you tried soft reset on the HD without the card then insert it again ?
@bigdish
Even hard-reset it with the card taken out. I cannot understand what the problem might me and I am thinking about sending it to service. I am starting to think that this ain't a software problem

Micro SDHC 8GB card

Hello,
I'm having issues with my Micro SDHC 8GB card (class 6). Whenever I connect the MicroSD card to my diamond2 phone, it works for a while and then it disconnects (the phone does not detect that there is a microSD card connected). To get my phone to detect the card, I either manually remove the card from the phone and insert it back in, and if that doesn't work, I soft reset.
I don't think its because of the card since it works flawlessly on my computer and I don't think its from the ROM, since before updating to Dutty ROMS, I used to get the same issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards
Your card is likely going bad. The phone will lose it first then the PC.
You may want to back it up and reformat it.
I just lost my SanDisk 16gb after multiple times of reformatting it and eventually is would crash again. No physical damage to the card. Just couldn't take the rewriting and deletions....
Connection mode issue
When you connect your USB. You have 3 options. Active sync, internet sharing or Disk drive. I think your's might be in the disk drive mode. So it doesnt read in your windows as HTC Hero drive. But check out if there is another extra drive that shows on your My Computer. If it is so, select the option Active sync and you can see your Micro SD card there.
Thanks,

[Q] Can't detect my(Samsung Galaxy Y S5360) storage through cable.

Hello
I bought Samsung Galaxy Y a year ago.I got installed 16GB memorycard and I rooted it.
Recently I have partitioned it into #1GB EXT2 RAM and rest of memory into FAT32, henceforth i didn't connect my storage through the cable but it is able to charge through my PC.I tried it in both Linux and Windows platforms but problem remained same.
Can u please suggest the solution to me?
Try
have you tried card reader?
Can your phone read the sd card?
If so go into cwm and you can repartition your sd card (all data on sd card will be lost)
if after that your pc can't read sd card but your phone can it's the cable
of course I'm assuming when you plug in the cable you are getting the notification in the statusbar bar on phone that usb is connected and you open the statusbar click the notification then depending on rom either press on the android image or button to connect storage

TeamUB lollipop ROM - USB unmount

Hi all,
Thought I'd make a separate thread for this one as my previous 3 posts have been completely ignored in various help threads.
I'm running the TeamUB lollipop ROM on a galaxy S4 I9505.
Problem: cannot unmount a USB drive connected via an OTG cable. Drive information is not displayed in the storage menu either.
However I can access the USB using ES File Explorer, which also has the eject icon next to the USB drive. Using this method seems to disrupt the expansion micro SD card, with my almost new 32gb card becoming unreadable after copying from the USB drive to the Micro SD. Internal storage is fine.
Are there any tools to help debug this issue, or has anyone got any advice?
Thanks in advanced.

Moto X Style OTG not working as expected aftet Marshmallow, how do I fix it?

Ok, So I used to use a moto G. On that the OTG used to work like the usb on my laptop plug in a Fat32 drive and it'll easily read and write to it no problem.
But I switched to a Moto X Style with marshmallow and when I first connected a Fat32 formatted pendrive it asked me to reformat it to make it work on the phone. Which I did, after that in ES File explorer theres another folder within the root of the USB drive to which I can write but those files cant be seen on my computer or any other computer for that matter, just the phone. Cant even see that folder anywhere else.
??
What the hell is up with the OTG? How can I access my drives without having to format them and retain write capability as well as the ability to read my written files on windows and what not? Its a new phone so I do not want to root it.
Thanks for the help.
You may have messed up somewhere by formatting it into internal storage or something.
Backup all files from the pen and format it in you pc to either fat32 or exfat depending on drive capacity and needs, eject it and plug it into the phone. It should work fine, also always eject drive before disconnecting it from the phone and if your pc says the drive has issues and wants to fix them ignore it.

Well it formatted it as portable storage. I tried reformatting to Fat32 from my computer but the same thing happened it wouldnt open unless I formatted it for the phone. What gives? And yeah I know microsofts error thingy does more harm than good.
UPDATE:
Its working now, reformatted using my windows machine. Was using a mac before but for some reason the phone just doesnt like the way the mac reformats it. However my SanDisk ultra dual usb still wont work. Time to buy a new otg pendrive.
