European Moto G4+ experiences (32Gb version) - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I'm looking for experiences with the 32 GB Moto G4+. When I look at the UK and De moto maker sites, they both state the 32 GB version with only 2 GB system memory. Personally I'd prefer a 3 GB version, as the 334 euro that is stated for the 64/4 GB version is to rich for my budget.

For me, the 2gb 32 gb version works fine. No lagging or issue switching apps. Stock android helps I'm sure.

That's nice to read. To bad it's still not available in The Netherlands. Looks like I'll need to import, as Motorola stated only the 16G versions would be available overhere.

Family in-law... (Aunt of my wife lives there) Then I'll have to go for the 64 GB version, as I want more then 2GB memory.
Edit: Hmmm, Dutch site tweakers states the larger versions as 'waiting for release date', but has them (32 and 64 GB versions both with 2 and resp. 3/4G system memory)

WTB 32GB Samsung Galaxy S II - I'm in the US

Tried pre-ordering from Handtec and after giving them a copy of my driver's license, copies of business cards for my shipping address, and other info as requested... two weeks after they'd taken and charged my credit card they wanted MORE. I got frustrated and said no, so they cancelled my order.
But I STILL want a 32GB version, which I have NO release date for, and a vendor that is reasonable about taking orders from a US customer. Any ON TOPIC info would be appreciated.
Well I have read somewhere that 32gb version will come a lot later than 16gb version so for me 16gb version packed with 64gb sdcard = win. Imo not worth waiting and money.

32gb is max for SDHC though. I don't think we have any confirmation that SDXC-cards will work, seems like it was only rumors.

There is no 64 GB SDHC Card.
AS for the 32 GB SGS2, i guess you may have to wait for quite a while mate. Seeing as Samsung has not yet released the Standard 16GB NON NFC Super Amoled Plus+ Exynos 1.2 Ghz Processor Specced Phone in all the markets, it will take time for the variants to hit the shelves.
I dont understand what Samsung is playing at though. By the time all the variants are out, it may well be August/September. And according to Eldar Murtazin, thats when the iPhone 5 Competitor, the SGS3 is supposed to come out. What Gives?!

Any word on a release date for the 32GB version? Tempted to order the 16GB version like so many others have, but for an extra $100(?), I'd rather have the 32GB.
GSMNation suggests mid-May.
I got this email from GSMNation:
"I'm writing with an update on the 32GB version of the phone. It has been indefinitely delayed by Samsung, so we can't say when it will be available. I'm guessing that's because they are still trying to fulfill their 3 million pre orders for the 16GB one. We are expecting it to be launched near the end of June now, meaning at least another month before it becomes available. But since there's no official word about its release from Samsung, can't say that for sure. If you want, we can still change your order and ship out the Galaxy S2 in 16GB. Please let us know how you want us to proceed."
BTW, is the S2's internal memory a SDcard or a flash memory chip?
I have been told by the folks in the Samsung shop here in Taiwan said the incumbent telco will get an exclusive (in Taiwan) on the 32GB and should be arriving around the last week in July. I also couldn't read, but did see the email from Chunghwa telecom marketing stating same and laying out prices for the various contracts. They also said it would be exynos.
16gb internal and 32gb card and then use a USB flash and the phone as a host if you need more

It isn't known one way or another if they'll work. Just a lot of speculation. Hardware wise, SDHC and SDXC have the same interface, and going by wikipedia Linux may have no trouble reading both without any massaging.
Of course they could also totally not work, but it's worth keeping in mind that what is "official" isn't always true - Android phones used to be sold only officially supporting up to 16Gb SD cards.

When will it be restocked

First of all sorry for making thread's again and again.

[Q] 16 GB enough?

Hello!
I'm new here, so yeah will be getting a G2 soon!
I live in The Netherlands, and apparently the 32 GB version will become available after the release of the 16 GB model.
So I'm considering going for the 16 GB model, but I don't know if that's enough. How much storage does the ROM take? How many storage is there actually left for the user?
I will only put some music on it, quite some apps and a lot of tweaks.
Should I wait for the 32 GB model or do you think the 16 GB one is fine?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Depends on what you store locally. Personally, most of my data is in the cloud (Dropbox, Box, Play Music, etc.), so I don't require much local storage. On my 16GB GS3, all I had on my external were ROMS, GAPPS, etc., and I never ran out of the local storage on the phone. But I live in an area with great coverage, so I do not need to rely on local storage.

My experience with the Galaxy S4 says: NO! 10 gb will go very fast once you install apps and take a few pictures and videos. And the fuller the phone gets, the worse it will run. I would say that 32 gb is the bare minimum for a phone today.

Missing storage with 64gb model... ?

Folks that have the 64gb model are reporting at least 5gb of storage not accounted for and the listing in storage settings does not account for it. The available storage is about 5GB less than the bloatastic Note 5 64gb.
Seems an allocation issue perhaps since nothing else seems to bridge it. The 64GB is technically a 59GB with the storage MIA.

Just to clarify, you're not talking about the space taken up by the OS right? This is in addition to that?
Huh, I think you're right unless I'm looking at it wrong. The 32GB only has 24GB of available space. Should be around 28GB on a basically Pure Android rom I'd think.
You must take into account the os. ~5 gigs sounds about right.

I agree, but in my photo above the 32GB is missing 8GB. I suppose that might not be too far off. I'd think Pure Android would take up about 4-5GB. I don't remember what it took up on the N6...maybe the extra Moto feature take up that much extra space? Who knows. I guess the 3GB isn't that big of a deal. Once we have an AOSP rom hanging around we'll be able to compare.
Edit: looks like the Nexus 6 had about 26GB of available storage. With this only having 24GB I would definitely assume the extra Moto stuff takes up that 2GB of storage.
The 64gb does not even show the 59.6 gb formatted that should be available before the allocation for the stock rom and apps. Something does not add up and based on the convention of storage and using the Note 5 64gb as example, the Pure 64GB is a 59gb device.
This device has 4gb less storage than the Note 5, which is alone telling something is wrong. Motorola has messed something up with allocation. The bad thing is a fix would mean starting from scratch.
Can someone chime in with what the 16 gb version is starting with free?
And I just took this screen shot on my N6 on the m preview. 32 gb version

Nice. That kinda confirms that at least the 32 GB version of the Pure doesn't have any unaccounted for storage since its right at what your N6 has available (can't speak for the 64GB version).

I'm fairly sure this is what is happening:
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=64+GB+to+GiB
Don't confuse GB with GiB. GB is where 1 MB = 1000 kilobytes and GiB is where 1 MB = 1024 kilobytes. Storage manufacturers typically use GB measurements for their storage capacities while some OSes (like Android) will report GiB capacities.
Basically put, there's no missing 5 GBs. Android is reporting the actual GiB size where as Motorola is telling you it's 64 GB size. The two are not equal.
For example, my MXPE:
32 GB storage option was my choice.
Total Space (Settings > Stroage) is: 24.06 GB. Keep in mind this is GiB, not GB. Lollipop stock ROM is roughly 4.5 to 5 GBs roughly. Tack back on 5 GBs, and we get 29.06 GB. This is the actual storage capacity of 32 GBs in GiB.

The thing is Android does not use GiB notation in the backend, so it becomes extra confusing to those who are used to GB notation.

Settings > Storage is shown in GIB as far as I can tell. It's just that "GB" is used for GIB. Confused yet?
Simple point is the bloat monster Verizon Note 5 has 4.5gb more available storage out of box. I know users on two other forums that have the 64gb (and ordered when I did) that report the same issue.
Wild how I order a black grippy model with gray with no engraving or greeting and still in build status while others have theirs ordered same day with extra bling. Meh.

I saw users reporting they had about 23.5 GB of usable space on the 32GB Verizon note 5 so that's actually slightly less than the 32GB Pure.

So why does my 64gb device report
53.18GB total size for device
Then my 64GB SanDisk microsd is showing
59.45GB total.
Should these be relatively close and not 5GB? Not that I care, but, if device is displaying in GiB then those values should both be lower. Motorola themselves has to be the ones claiming 64GiB vs 64GB.
I'm not being picking about device being 5GB shy of what it should be. But I'm hoping this can help make sense of it.

128 GB availability in Europe.

Hi Y'all!
I've seen a lot of vendors that had the 32 & 64 GB versions up for pre-order, But in my world, no SD-slot means at least 128 GB on-board.
Have you seen any vendor at all that has the 128 GB version up for pre-order?
Currently i'm a little concerned it'll turn out to be vapour-ware. :crying:

It probably differs from country to country. Sweden will get the 32 and 128 GB models, but not 64 GB according to Huawei.
