Sprint micro sim cards cut. Unlocked t mobile s7 edge - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I have a unlocked s7 edge from t mobile. I wanted to use it on sprint. But to be honest I can seem to get it to register. Plus my micro sim needs to be cut to nano sim. If i cut my sim card will i be able to use sprint service?

Nope.

Thanks. Also wanted to know if I had a sprint phone with a nano sim slot and I cut my micro sim to fit, would it work? Or would I have to activate by calling sprint.

No. You would need a new SIM card from Sprint.
Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk

Sprint links the SIM card to the IMEI of the phone. Unlike [unlocked] GSM phones, you can't just swap SIM cards and go. You would have to get Sprint to unlock the phone first, which they'll only do once you've paid it off.

Thank you

Sprint doesn't allow you to bring devices from other carriers. And the sim card is married to the meid of the phone which the tmobile version only has an imei .

AT&T specific question

I have been with sprint for a long time and never had to mess with sim cards. I am now with att and I have a question about sim cards and activations. I have an android phone right now with att that I am going to replace with the note 2. Can I just pull the sim card from the current phone and put it in the new one? Or do I have to take it into the att store? Also does this cause an activation fee?
Moved to Networking section.
You can just switch the SIM. If it's an already activated SIM (meaning it had service in the prior phone) there should not be an activation fee.

Thanks for the info. That is what I was thinking but I wasn't sure.
Yes, one of the great things about gsm/sim cards. Easy swappable. If your current phone uses standard mini sim, you will need to cut it down to work in the note2/other newer phones that use micro sim cards.
Currently using the original note. So I don't know what kind of sim it has.

You Will need to go to the store. Note 1 has A regular sized sim and the Note 2 takes a Micro Sim you will need a smaller sim but sims are free.

Your can use a SIM cutter. No need to go-to a store. Just be careful and follow the instructions. I've used it twice on various phones.

Just insert that to any unlocked phone you want,
Our policy at at&t is if its a gsm it's possible,
No fees for device transfer since we have a SIM number as a basis of the account not the IMEI or ESN
this post is approved by the national potato safety regulation
I have changed phones before and just changed the sim from one phone to the next. I also went to att when another phone took am smaller sim and the att rep got a smaller sim and updated it and handed it to me and said have a nice day. I love att's customer service.

[Q] Rogers Nexus 4/Sim Card

Right now I have an Xperia Play with a regular SIM. Does the Nexus use micro or nano? and can I cut it myself or do I have to go to Rogers?

It's a micro sim. The simplest route is to purchase a micro sim from Rogers and use their client website to transfer your service to the new sim. You could cut it yourself but why bother?
I'm going to be cutting my Koodo sim into a micro sim when I get the Nexus 4. Much quicker than having to talk to someone on the phone.

I'm not specifically familiar with Koodo, but Bell, Rogers, Fido, and Telus allow you to change your sim card using their website - no need to talk to anyone. I just picked up a new Bell sim for $5 - way less hassle than cutting.

Just walk in to a Rogers store and ask to purchase a micro sim. They should be able to sell you the correct one. They also sell an "iphone 4" sim card which should work fine in andy 3G device, you'll just have to ignore the silly branding.

What's with Canadian carriers charging their customers for SIM cards?? That's crazy. I know AT&T, you walk in store ask for one and you walk out with one, simple, and its FREE.
Also this question has been answered 100 times already on these forums.

I've paid as much as $30 for a micro sim card from Rogers for an iPhone 4.
My dad just paid $9 for an LTE regular sim card on the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE
Sorry to hijack this thread but I did a Google Search and I came to this "canadian sim card" thread.
But can someone verify if I can use my Rogers Micro Sim Card that is a voice sim card but has a 3G data plan on it work on the Nexus 7 Mobile? Because it works on iPad 1 + Data versions.
It's kinda hard to find the answer but I'm still searching.

It should. Phones are backwards compatible for sure (LTE sim in an HSPA+-only phone will just use HSPA+), but you won't get LTE/4g/HSPA+
An LTE microsim is all of $10 from rogers. They don't even offer other sims anymore

I've been on Rogers for ages so they didn't charge me for a micro-sim for my Nexus 4 that arrived yesterday.

X+ AT&T SIM in a T-Mobile Nexus 4

I have to replace my AT&T One X+ today and am looking to get a Nexus 4 on my way home from T-Mobile, will my SIM just plug in and work? Or will I have to do anything else?
It most likely will but you may have to enter T-Mobile's APN in settings if it doesn't show up.
If your Sim is a standard size SIM then you will h ave to cut it down to a MICRO sim to fit into the Nexus 4. if its already a micro sim then you wont have a problem other than just using the tmobile APN settings.
NO. T-Mobile Nexus 4's are NOT factory unlocked. You have to buy it from Google if you're an AT&T user, and it does take micro SIMs.
Edit - OOPS. Sorry all.

Purpose of Sprint SIM card??

What exactly is the purpose of the Sprint sim card? I went to Russia and got the phone unlocked by Sprint, put in a Megafon gsm sim when I got there and accidentally allowed my Sprint sim to get destroyed in the washing machine. So when I got home I expected my phone to not work, but I figured I would switch it over to CDMA just to see what would happen and it works perfect! So I am confused as to why the Sprint sim is even there, is it just a dummy card with no real purpose?
The SIM is for LTE service. CDMA will work without it.

Dang! Is it really that much? Not only is $50 many, many times what it costs Sprint to procure the SIM card (which I would guesstimate at less than 50 cents a piece), it is also a lot more than what the other US carriers charge for a SIM.

You can ask Sprint (I wouldn't count on the clear answer though) or just get to the LTE coverage area, Sprint stores have LTE 4G and pull the SIM out to verify that you cannot get 4G without it.

The primary purpose of the SIM card in recent Sprint phones is to provision LTE. While previous Sprint LTE Android handsets did not have a SIM slot, they still had a SIM, it's just that it was an embedded/soldered/non-removable type of SIM card.
If you take the SIM out you will not be able to register on Sprint's LTE network.

2nd Sim Card Slot

Are there any US carriers whose Sim card will fit in 2nd Sim card slot? AT&T and T-Mobile don't fit.
Why don't they fit? Both sim slots have the same network bands.
The US variants (included the unlocked models) are NOT dual sim devices.

That's the clue right there.
On the box you will see two IMEIs.
Mine has DUOS on the box as well.
The tray for DUOS can accept dual sim cards or a single sim and microSD card.
With 1TB storage the need for the microSD is moot except perhaps if the need to transfer a lot of data.
For most transfers, wifi5 and airdroid suffice.

Can't really tell if you are being sarcastic or genuinely trying to be helpful. But yes it is a dual SIM card model, it has 2 imei #, under setting it shows the empty 2nd Sim card. No card fits in it. I'd accept it was my not knowing how to put a Sim card in a phone, even though my S8+ was also a dual sim model, if I hadn't been to both AT&T and T-Mobile stores and no one could make it work. Really glad you got yours to, but it doesn't fit in my device.

Calm down man. People here are trying to help you. Since almost no one here has ever had problem inserting sim card, and you don't tell us much about the detail, we then assume you have single sim variant, wrong sim tray, etc.
It would be a lot easier if you just take a picture of your sim card tray and post in here so we all can understand what really happen.
If you cannot post picture or whatever other reasons, just cut the sim card to make it fit. I used to cut many normal sims to micro sims and micro sims to nano sims in the past (nowadays, all operators in my country make 3 in 1 sim cards that I can pop out whatever size I wanted).
However, I am absolutelyx3 certain that nano sim fits S10 second sim slot.

The sim type for both is the same. So if your card does not fit in slot 2 I can only assume the wrong sim carrier has been supplied
I would either goto a Samsung experience store or talk to the supplier of the phone and advise them and try to get another sim carrier from them
But there is certainly no need for a different type of sim

Amazon. Pretty sure it's the right tray. The slot says microSD/Sim 2. Will take the advice of previous post and take it to a Samsung store. Not a huge deal it was just convenient to have 1 phone instead of 2 since I work on sales and have customers calling all the time
