Desaturate the screen - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to completely desaturate the screen(washed out colors on the 6p)?…. When I first bought the 6p in Nov., I had to return it because the screen's warm and sharp colors gave me bad headaches( I am visually impaired). I currently use a lenovo vibe x3 that allows me to change the warm and cold color sliders, and saturation. Sliders in display settings... I have to keep them to the lowest or else I get terrible headaches...
With cool stuff I Android n I am tempted to use the 6p, but not too sure if it is possible to fix it via root now?
Thnx
Thnx

Try sRGB mode?
http://www.hdpixels.net/2016/01/how-to-enable-srgb-mode-on-google-nexus-6p.html

You can make screen colors what ever way you like with custom kernel and app like exkm

Srgb does not stick after a reboot

For that I have to root, which means looking at the screen for some time... I would definitely faint by the time I am done with rooting and installing the custom kernel ..
Can you also posts screen shot of the interface for kernel manager color settings. I only see red blue green on his play store screen shots.. where are the cool warm and saturation sliders?
Something like the attached pic

Thx for the screenshot bro.. I have always been s Nexus user since the galaxy Nexus and was heart broken when I had to return the 6p after using it for an hour... I have since missed rooting and the timely updates, but was inclined to give it another try since the prices are down.
This screenshot gives me confidence, but I am still a bit shaky as last time I had a headache for a week when I used the stock screen with saturated colors..
I know this phone is not for me(emotionally hurt). [emoji24]

The pic doesn't really give off the true color, I noticed these new "pearl" colors are hard to judge just by a mockup, get the real feel when you see it live.
But I'm still with you all, I don't think it's gonna be a great choice for me, not my taste..
Isn't this the Photoshop mock up posted on the other thread??? I believe it is.

it's quite easy to change the color of this from blue to red so I'm not amused

Am I the only one who thinks red looks somewhat nice?...
"All this knowledge is giving me a major brainer!"
Looks like a pretty obvious and badly done mockup if you ask me..you can pull this off with a few sliders and what not. Lol.
Look at the status/notification bar. It took on a red tint..so yeah, obviously edited. It's not the real thing. Just something quickly made in Photoshop or whatever.
I'm not hating on the possibility of a red GSIII. It might actually look good..I can imagine a metallic crimson (dark red) or something would be appealing to some people. I've seen phones with that kind of color in real life and they do look pretty nice.. If it were a plastic-y red though then that might make it look just awful
haha while the pic was loading, I read all the replies, and I was wondering how eww it could be, but i get it.. it's ewww.
They should go with pink color instead

[APP] Shake for Bright - Make your phone screen bright by shaking (4.0+ compatible)

I've found myself struggling in the sun to see my screen. Trying to get into the brightness settings (even from quick settings) is an exercise in muscle memory since I can't see anything. I used Tasker to make a shake-based solution that I just released to the Play Store. Since XDA has given me so much, I thought I'd release it here for free for now at least. Since it's new and I don't have every device in the world, I would greatly value your feedback. :good:
From the Play Store:
If you've ever walked outside and can't see your screen because it's too bright out, this app is for you!
No matter what you're doing on your phone just shake it and auto bright will be turned on so that the phone will adjust to the brightness around you. Whether you're reading email, watching a video, surfing Facebook or anything else, the phone will adjust without exiting what you're doing.
If you need full brightness just shake up and down again and the screen will go to full brightness. To go back to inside light levels (30% bright), hold your hand close to the screen (covering it) and shake the phone.
No root access required!
Update: This will work for Android 4.0+ only.
If you'd like to donate by purchasing the Market version (and for auto updates), here is the Play Store link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.techspecs.apps.screengesturetoggles
I'm guessing 4.0+

"Vodafone HUAWEI U8815
This item is not compatible with your device."
And since my phone is 2.3.6 like the 2nd poster sounds like a 4.0+ only app.Shame.Woulda been very handy
Thanks for the information both of you. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Nexus 7 2012 - Screen is not level?!

Hi Guys
So I was looking at my tab during a lecture and for some reason I noticed something odd. I looked closer and it seemed to me as if the lines on the screen, which we were supposed to be straight...weren't so straight after all :silly:. At first I thought it as my imagination or that my sinus was affecting my sight...but it turns out I was right. My Nexus 7 screen is just about a millimetre off and now that I'm conscious of it, everything feels off. I even had @MattDN93 confirm it.:highfive:
I scanned my actual device to show anyone who's interested. (I didn't trust myself with the right camera angles to capture the problem)
What should I do about this? Would this count as a hardware defect for me to claim the warranty?

Wow, thanks...... Now you've convinced my brain that mine is crooked too. :|
Totally off topic but why does scanning a color screen produce a black and white image?

Perhaps because the scanner was set to scan in grayscale mode?

No that's not it. I just tried with a handheld scanning wand on my computer monitor and got a b&w image also. It was set in color mode.

Well a scanner shines white light at the pixels maybe they reflect white back if they're on with any colour and black if off?

[Q] One-handed shrunk screen background color BLUE - why not BLACK?

This video shows this cool new feature to aid one handed use:
http://youtu.be/S2Yr7PvgKQw?t=33s
I was surprised to see however that the background color of the unused screen area is blue instead of black - which would make much more sense on AMOLED.
Can that color be configured? Or maybe it's a safety measure against screen burn-in? Also, the border of the box could be a darker color...

Sounds like a cool feature, but I will never use it. It's why I bought a screen that size and not a screen size that it shrinks down to lol. Can be useful to some, but honestly defeats the purpose of the note haha. As for the colors, I have no idea...

I'm sure that color can be changed (at least I THINK I saw black in another video). As for the burn-in, blue IS what causes the burn in. So blue would actually make it much worse.
they probably made it blue so it's easy to see, so when you move it back to original you can place it exactly in place, instead of black where you might find it hard to put back.
unless of course there is a reset....

P9 Lite Light Bleed

Hello guys, i'm currently having a light bleed issue on my p9 lite. I sent it to service but they said it's normal for these models. Anyone else having the same problem? Thanks

Is looking at a full black screen in a dark room at high brightness something you do regularly OP?
Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
did you RMA'd it?
it looks like white color on the edge right?
i have it too because my phone has bent itself when he was in my back pocket :/
Every IPS device I have - two phones (one a P9 Lite), two tablets, one Dell monitor - has some degree of light bleed at the edges. It's the nature of IPS. As LadFromWales85 says, it's only really going to be a problem if you stare at a black image in a dark room... If you don't do that, it's going to be much less of an issue. Having said that, I did have a very cheap tablet that had awful light bleed at the bottom that was always visible, was like a gradient effect!
Really if you want to guarantee no light bleed, AMOLED is the way to go. But then you might start worrying about burn-in...
The bottom line is that no good will come of obsessing about things like this. Light bleed is normal with IPS and that photo is far from bad.
I have the same "problem" but is normal for the IPS panels.
Just enjoy your device
My device is HUAWEI P9 LITE VNS-L23
GOD BLESS YOU
