Using the whatsapp calling feature - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I'm using the whatsapp to make calls. When on a call and I receive another call from my carrier it disconnects the whatsapp call. Is there anyway I can prevent that from happening and just send the incoming call to voicemail?

I can take a guess but I'm not positive this will work. I am going to guess that you are not using "advanced calling" on your phone. What's app is using data to make the call. When you receive a regular call, your phone shuts down the data and switches to the 1X system for the regular phone call. Without advanced calling activated, you cannot have data access while on a call. If you turn on advanced calling, it may work because your phone will allow the data connection to continue while the traditional call comes through. Your phone no longer switches to 1X and drops the data connection.
You will also need to be close enough to a cell tower for the advanced calling to work. (decent 4G signal)

HSDPA and Voice call problems

I am in Hong Kong with Smartone and using Dopod 838pro. I discoverd that when I have HSDPA enabled and am on data conncection mode. Voice call cannot get thru. I have to disable HSDPA to allow voice call coming thru when I am connected on data. Is this a network issue or handset issue? It seems I can only have HSDPA for data but not data and voice at the same time?
Anyone can shed some lights? thanks
That is strange. I've been able to receive calls whilst surfing using wi-fi or HSDPA, but I must admit that in the case of HSDPA. Not sure if I was tempoarily disconnected from data in order to receive the call though. I just remember that nothing stopped me from receiving calls. I will have to test it and get back to you, unless someone else knows for sure.
Thanks mackabyoo7, the problem is when I have HSDPA enabled and on data conncection, the phone line is sort of disabled and the caller can only hear a long beep tone, not even droping to voice mail or busy tone.. It seems like a network issue with Smartone-vodafone in Hong Kong.

I see. I just tested on T-mobile uk and whilst on Data (surfing) I can get incoming calls without interruption to data (even downloading) but once I accept a call and end that conversation, I am presented with a dialogue box giving me the option to resume my download or re-connect to the Internet. So it seems we don't have simultaneous voice & data either, but we can at least be able to receive calls.
I used another phone to call myself and the first attempt resulted in an automated response telling me there was a fault with the line I was trying to call (my VarioII) but on the second attempt all was normal. Not a major problem at the moment. hope u get yours sorted out.

Hi to all!
I have exactly the same problem in Bulgaria!!! When I use my Tytn in UMTS (HSDPA) band and establish a data transfer I can’t receive voice calls! If I want to receive a voice call when I initialized data transfer I have to switch the band to GSM! I can’t understand why it happens?! Is that’s from the device or from the network?! I know that Tytn is a class B device and when a voice call is present it should be suspend the data transfer automatically and resume after that, because the voice call has a higher priority by default, but this is not happening in UMTS mode! I understand that this is very actual discussion and complicated issue for many Tytn users around the world! But I thing there’s no answer yet.
It seems it is a network problem, the only way to have voice coming thru when you are connected on data is to disable HSDPA

Can I receive calls while surfing the net?

The incoming calls are directed to the voicemails.
Is it possible that the phone automatically switch from the data to the voice?

If you are in EVDO coverage, the phone will maintain your data connection while you receive the phone call over 1X, then resume your data connection when the call is complete. AFAIK, if you are in roaming or 1X coverage only, there is no way to automatically kill the data connection to receive the call.
1X is always shown in the topbar.
But I can set the mode of operation to EVDO only. Then I can use EVDO mode. Don't know why, but the real speed of EVDO is slower than 1X in my area, around 130kbps. But I cannot receive any calls in EVDO. Don't know if there is a way to solve the problem.
Thanks alot. I understand that my city is not covered by EVDO after checking http://www.sprint.com/business/products/products/evdoEnterZip.jsp .

tethering and phonecall concurrently

Hello,
the HTC support tells me, that you can´t surf (with and without tethering) and make a phone call at the same time.
Is there a hack or patch to do this at the same time?
P.s. Somewhere i saw, that iPhone can do this with a hack.
You can do it if you're on 3G or WiFi.
If you're on GSM you can't do it.
That sounds great!
But when im on gsm in internet, does i still get incoming calls?
That is very importent for my business...
No, only on 3G. GSM supports only call or data, not both at the same time. If data is connected but not actively transferring stuff, incoming calls will go through, but if you're downloading at that moment the call will just sound busy/go to voicemail. That's a network limitation.

Actually it is not a network limitation.
There are Class A devices out there that can handle simoultaineous voice and data sessions.
GSM is not a network connection like GPRS and other. GSM is like old 56k modem which dials up a number and holds the line. Therefore, you cannot connect to GSM and make a call. This is a network limitation, not related to phone (unless you have 2 sims).
GPRS, EDGE are extensions of GSM... and today's general use of "GSM" includes those... GSM = not 3G

No Calls come in if on Sprint LTE network and browsing internet

I have new S5. NO CALLS come in if are on LTE/CDMA network browsing internet and someone is trying to call you in the same time. Sprint had me changed to CDMA and in that case calls do come through. Anyone else has this problem?

As i understand, the problem is if 4G network doesn't support voice over LTE (4G is only for data). And when you receive call, the phone that is on 4G network, it must switch to 3G. And at this switch error happens. that's why you don't get call, that's why i get SMS with notification of missed call.
Been testing between network modes "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" and "WCDMA/GSM".
When i am on "WCDMA/GSM", i have no problem..

I want to disable all incoming calls while using hotspot. Any ideas how?

Since I'm using straighttalk's verizon sim, I don't have HD calling, which means when I get a call, my phone loses data connection to take the call. This disconnects me from the internet.
Any ideas on how to disable incoming calls? Would seem like an easy fix, but I can't find a solution at all.
Use tasker or macro droid
Delete all your Friendships ?
force LTE only. so your phone wont switch to 3g or 2g it will only use 4G. https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/how-to-force-lte-lg-v20-t3660122
