Stock A500FU PERMISSIVE kernel needed - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Right so many of us use stock rom on A500FU (2015) as its a good daily driver. Not the issue is I'm useless at compiling so is there anyone who can compile a stock kernel but... permissive as standard for us viper4android users and other reason, I'm sure there are 1000s who would appreciate it. I can provide the stock boot if nessacary

I have recompiled the kernel with no changes except set the enforcing flag to false and used your ramdisk.
If this doesn't boot then Samsungs source code is probably borked.
I have also uploaded a simply unpacked and repacked kernel with absolutely no changes. If this doesn't boot then there's an issue with simply repacking the kernel which could be because it is unsigned. This is not the first time Ive had this happen.

This is the exact same situation I had with the Tab A which uses the same platform and source code: Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410.
Looks like again Samsung have fudged up the kernel source.
Are you able to set permissive via ADB or SElinux changer?

Are you sure it states permissive in settings after using SElinux changer?

Highly unusual, every single Samsung 5.1.1 kernel I have compiled always has the enforcing flag set in the configuration without the ability to override unless the kernel is custom.

Well it's actually 5.0.2, I just changed it in build prop. I also deleted some of the security apks and no longer get a warning that it's permissive and need to reboot, also the smart manager says system is secure. Running viper4android just fine

[Kernel][5.0.2] [SM-T705]Permissive Lollipop Stock Kernel of SM-T705

I compiled a permissive kernel of SM-T705, based on the stock kernel, I basically changed nothing but the Selinux status. For those who do not like "enforcing" status, you can use this kernel for a while and wait for further optimisation.
I flashed this image with flashify on an SM T705, everything works fine.

Just so everyone knows i flashed with my smt700 kernel works great if u need permissive (viper4android) til iron kernel or up in the air kernel comes out. There is a extra ,probably no sim icon in my statusbar but not a big deal e everything else works great......
Solved the Issue by holding Power+Vol down, and restoring to latest TWR back up.
anyone knows how to flash without freezing the tablet?
===============================
Hi
Just flashed this kernel to SM-T705 with 5.0.2 rom but after restart it is stuck on Samsung galaxy tab logo!
anyone knows how to restart or go into download mode ( pushing power off button even for a long time does nothing!)
thanks,

What exactly is your question?
EDIT: Oh I see, I didn't notice at first, looks like someone shared my links, thanks for letting me know.
Nice! DragonFi just doesn't work with my M9. So glad this does, definitely a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
I tried the APK version first and every time I tried opening it, it'd open another app of mine asking to import a database. Not sure what that's all about but the ZIP flashed fine.

What in Dragon-Fi is not working? the Dolby app? if so you may need Permissive for your kernel? unsure also the APKs do work but I guess something could be goofy if your ROM, which ROM are you using? but regardless if ZIP worked fine then I guess you may be happier about that sense V4A is now a system app
I use Dragon-Fi for the system files only, I skip all the Dolby stuff and I notice a good difference in audio quality, so it should be working for you, but I am on the M8, I never tried it on M9 personally.
Just for your convenience I have updated the thread to confirm that Marshmallow is indeed supported! :good:

I had to do the whole 9 yards with my Sprint HTC One m7 last time I put Viper4Android for lollipop on it (5.0.2). Selenix fix and flashing the zip, all I did was install the dark (had to RUU the device to get 6.23.651.10 on it) and driver status reads:
Driver Version : 2.3.4.0
NEON Enabled : Yes
Enabled : Yes
Status : Normal
Audio Format : Supported
Processing : Yes
Sampling Rate : 48000
Do not believe I have ever had the NEON enabled, just trying on phone speakers now............. WOW
cannot wait until the bluetooth cubes come off charge

Viper4Android not working on new TW firmwares

Does anybody know a way to make Viper4Android work on roms with new firmware like XXUHPF1. I'm using MBP V5 by melekbarca on the i9500. I already have try unchecking the mount separate option in super su but didn't work. Also tried this in other roms like albe95 and inferno but no luck.
I apologize for my English and my lack of experience.
Because, most probably, the selinux is set to enforcing. Viper4Android needs to to be permissive.

Thank you for your answer but I don't think that's the problem cause I have try using Setlinux mode changer and also had try with versions of viper that don't require permissive kernell and nothing works.

Well actually it seems you were right. I try installing different kernels but had no luck; till I installed stock Permissive Kernel By @AL_IRAQI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59507846&postcount=4860) and untick the separate mount option in super su. Now it works  . Thanks for the answer
Good to know you solved your problem.
To be noted that stock Samsung kernel is always enforcing, even after you use SELinux mode changer to change your SELinux status.

most devs work only on their own free time and sometimes they do not have the device or they have had it but got rid of it. it may take a year or two before a custom rom will release as it is typical for phones under the budget category. (under $200) devices that are expensive get more developement due to alot of people focusing only on the greatest and latest.

There are two versions, one is to be flashed in TWRP as a normal zip and you must type YES in twrp wipe settings to format data, reboot recovery and then wipe all except external sd and otg! Proceed to flash the Rom and then reboot. First boot may take a LONG time so be patient!! Let me know what works and what doesn't. Consider this to be in TESTING phase so don't use it as a daily driver until you are sure it works for you! The other for Odin, I would use the latest version!

Lineage OS 18.1 Unofficial SElinux Permissive, or Enforcing?

Just wondering if SElinux has to be set to permissive for everything to work? In using H910 variant. Fingerprint works. If It can be set to enforcing, how do I change it? I used permissiver.zip to change it to permissive and don't know how to change it back if I need to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Also safetynet passes right now and using LSposed.

Never found an answer... I have a OnePlus 7t pro now. It was a post that I read though, that said it had to be permissive for everything to work properly. Not sure though
^^Yeah well who knows. Driving me crazy. Could be a bug in the latest build. Giving me a real headache trying to work it out. I'm going to try using the lineage recovery instead of twrp and if that don't work I'll give up. Thanks, and ohh a 7tPro sounds nice : )

it's didn't work. I got kernel crash using lineage recovery. So even the recovery is not working for me. This is going well lol. Phew I was able to flash back twrp via fastboot.
Right, and all of a sudden seems problem is solved.
By complete chance I was reading this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/conversion-of-lg-v20-f800.4161453/#post-84791351
There is a link to a flashable zip to set selinux policy permissive. A different one to the one I usually use by @Zachpth5. This allows the camera driver to load.

Edit: just use selinuxmodechanger apk instead. Can't belive I didn't know about that app 'till now lol
