Did the update fix the auto brightness issue? or any finding on what has been fixed? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Does the update fix the auto brightness issue or any other issue that exist. So far happy with the update speed. This is quite amazon, really hope this can be persistent even after they released other new phone.

Auto brightness has been tweaked. At least the interface has. Never seen it say this before either.

What auto brightness issue you referring to? If you mean the one where the screen will not automatically dim (and you have to uncheck auto then recheck it, or power the screen off then back on to get it to dim) then no, the update did not correct that.

That's really odd, because I updated my phone and I don't have that, even standing in direct sunlight with auto brightness on.

Yes, these issues. Unfortunately to hear that samsung didn't fix it in this update.

Same here... I do know what OP is talking about but I don't see it as a bug.
@op I mean, if you slide it yourself, why would it automatically slide? I guess it'd make more sense if Samsung disabled manually sliding it. I think that they allow us to manually slide it though for those situations where we'd like to override it temporarily. Idk, I don't think it'll get fixed as it isn't actually a bug. Maybe they'll add an option to disable the slider while on auto.

Huh! Mine will not ... And this is my second decive. Only way I can get the screen to dim is to turn it off and on or uncheck / check the auto box.

I just did the update.
I notice the following -
1) Excellent improvement regarding palm rejection. The edge sensitivity which on a scale of 1-10 was an 8 before in my case, is now a 1. The issue is almost none existent.
2) improved overall speed.

I gutted a momentary button switch to push in that barely grazes the button, but I will come up with something. I've been studying the internals, so what I'm thinking is hard wiring the tablet to my remote wire so the radio controls it being on. Also I plan on hard wiring the charger to work off the accessory wire to turn the tab on and off.

Most annoying feature of Note 2.

Sometimes when I tried to press the edit button, back button or home button the phone does not react. Volume and power buttons works fine. I almost thought that I had a faulty unit with an intermittent problem.
In actuality, as long as the proximity of the S-pen triggers a blue dot on the screen, these buttons are deactivated for some unknrown reasons.
SO ANNOYING.

I am sitting on my sofa with a pillow on my lap. My left hand holding the phone and right hand holding the S-pen are both resting on the pillow. The right hand was resting on the pillow when not using the S-pen and while resting, the S-pen happened to be in close contact with the screen.

Well lets say I turn my phone on while I'm in a dark spot, so the brightness sets to low level, but then I enter a room with more light, or exit on the street so the brightness gets too low. Get it? I'd like to have the auto-brightness, otherwise I can set the level manually, as I'm used to.

Hi! Thanks for this thread I have (noob) question Is there some possibillity, that s iii mini has light sensor on board, but it is dissabled (by kernel on by something)?
I am maybe totally wrong, but on front side is camera, proximity sensor and third "circle" where could be light sensor???
We dont't have otg support by defaul, but it can wokrs so why not light sensor?
Some state it does, some that it does not. I believe it does not, since I dont see why sammy wouldn't include the sofware for it in the first place.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app
then why we have a otg hardware support but we can't enable it unless by a custom kernel
Someone who works at a service center may know how the hardware looks better.
Or someone can risk flashing an s advance rom, it has same hardware right?

Oh, no. Even if you remove the device name checks from the updater-script and make it flash somehow, you're bricking it. Let the hardware be same. It will brick.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
Ok so we need an ALS chip (ambient light sensor) somewhere on the mother board. If we have this we need to include in the kernel drivers, closest mach would be i8160. We might run an easy test with such a kernel and the display setting coded in to a rom from the same i8160.

Hi! Today I was cleaning my s iii mini and I looked under front cover, where is proximity sensor and found there something like this. So I thing that we have brightness sensor too, but question is, if it is hw disconnected or only sw disabled???
I was thinking about it and I have question: Is possible to port ROM from Samsung Galaxy S Advance to our mini? Both phones are similar and this tutorial should help.

Ipad 4 vs n7 2013 Screen comparison?

Can anyone give us an impression of what to expect from the screen of the n7? Viewing angles, brightness and color reproduction?
I use my ipad primarily for reading because it's got the best screen in the business right now but I really hate ios. I'm really hoping Asus fixed the lag problems and the screen with this new one.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I don't personally have it but reviews say the contrast and view angles are second to none. Hugely improved over the first generation and better than the ipad. The brigthness is also really high, over 500 nits compared to about 260 on the first generation.
Full brightness is blinding.

As long as you don't compare color saturation to the iPad. I am seriously underwhelmed by the flatness of the color on the new Nexus 7. Didn't think it could get worse than the previous model, but it did.

I don't know how anyone with eyes could say saturation is better than the iPad 3 or 4. If you turn up the brightness until your eyes bleed, the new Nexus 7 has better saturation than the previous. At lower usable brightness it is about the same or worse.
I keep waiting for an android tablet that will allow me to dump the iPad. This isn't it, and it will be going back to the store.

Brian Klug over at Anandtech will put up his review or data at some point this weekend and he will have a detailed analysis of the screen as well as data to compare with both the iPad mini and 4.

Nope. The problem is hardware related and not software. Even the entire transformer tablet line has the same issue. Everytime you try to do something in the background that is accessing storage everything just slows down.

Im asking you this because I want to know if it is a software issue or hardware issue. So if when u boot the phone you see the same green waves screen on top of the black screen and the samsung logos then must likely it would be a hardware problem...
so need to check the water sensors etc. If u dont see the green waves then just do a full wipe if problem persist try flshing an other rom.

It is hardware, maybe you placed the phone in your pocket or applied some pressure on it.
If this re occurs, have the display replaced..
