Discover the network operator brand - One (M9+) General

Hi there
I have recently purchased an HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera edition phone which is imported from taiwan as I do live in Italy. I have contacted HTC support and they have told me that the phone is branded under a network operator from Taiwan and this will, of course affect the update process as when un update will be realese from HTC, then it need to be manage by the operator also...
Anyway they haven't told me which operator is, is there a way to discover it? As I cannot see anything that leads to an operator on my phone.

You could find it on the "Software number".
1.xx.709.xx --> unbranded
1.xx.921.xx --> TaiwanTelecom
1.xx.751.xx --> ChungHwuaTelecom
But as I know, there were all unbranded ones for the newly HTC devices in Taiwan.

Hi thanks for you answer, the number it's 1.08.709.1 .
I wonder why HTC support has told me that it's network branded!

t-mobile WM6

Hi, i'm new to this forum.
I'm having trouble updating my vario 2 to wm6. I would like the official version from t-mobile uk but when I'm taken to the htc website (http://member.htc.com/member/ProductRegistration.aspx) and try to register my mda i get this message:
Unable to register your serial number. The serial number you entered is not for an HTC branded product.
Register your product today to get free updates, applications and drivers.
You can only register HTC-branded devices (e.g. HTC Touch or HTC S620 ) here. If you purchased your device (e.g. T-Mobile Dash or Orange SPV E650) from a mobile operator, please check with your mobile operator if they have their own product registration service.
have they removed the update???
Does any body have the t-mobile installer that they could send to me or could u show me a link to get it from plz? I would really apreciate it.
thanks
Sean

Hey Seanie you have to go through T-mobile UK website to get the rom update. Not through the HTC website.
thx gareth824 it works great.

HTC HD network problem

Hello,
For first, sorry for my bad english...
I bought HTC TOUCH HD (from Orange UK) from second hand.

So, when I insert Orange Slovakia sim card, phone show me all local networks but when I select ORANGE and input PIN code then phone try register to network, but ..... UPDATE: Now, Phone can register to network, but I cannot make call and message send.
When I insert another sim card (T-mobile, O2) Slovakia then phone doesn't accept card and show me message: "The Sim card is missing".
So, I don't know what can I solve this problem...
Last question:
I would like to change to original ROM, but I don't know which is exactly for my phone. I've read that I must search ROM for "S/N", but for my S/N I didn't found.
I have SN : HT91AKD0*****. Can you tell me which original ROM is exactly for my HD??
Thank you very much for any help.
Peter
My Phone:
HTC Touch HD (Blackstone)
Os version: 5.2.21901
ROM: kwbr topix 3.6 WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.14
hi Quark01,
I think your problem is much similar to mine. I got one HTC Touch HD from my brother (Orange UK). when i start using this phone in india it won't work becoz it was lock with orange. I unlock this phone from market and now i can use it with vodafone in india. I was always facing network issue and best thing was after unlock also it shows me only UK networks but i can make and receive call but most of the time i was having bad network issue.
Thanks to XDA Developers ROM wiki page which helps me out to find right ppl with right ROM and i updated my ROM after that i solved lots of performance issue and of course network issue also. Now I'm Using this handset in USA with T-Mobile and best thing is whenever i go to other country and try any SIM card it will detect their settings automatically and give me best connectivity.
i think you should see this page

I asked help for almost same problem and i got lots of reply. Make sure you read more before changing your ROM and you should know everything about ROMs.
Best of Luck

[Problem] Youtube app with chinese default searching

Hi guys,
I'm having my new HTC Wildfire that has youtube app with default Chinese searching so I can't understand videos titles, though I'm using English language for my phone and set location and time zone to London. It seems the phone came from Taiwan with original ROM from HTC Taiwan, coz I bought and shipped it last 2 weeks from an online shop when the phone had not been released at my hometown yet.
Could anyone tell me what I have to do to solve this issue, or how to I will install an Europe ROM for my phone?
Best regards
Can't you flash the generic ROM using the same Goldcard as what is used to Flash the HTC Desire's generic ROM?
I think that you have this problem because of the Firmware on the phone and flashing it should hopefully sort out the problem.

HD2 stolen and urgent advice needed

Hi
Just had my HD2 stolen this afternoon.
I will be on flight to Hong Kong tomorrow evening.
The phone was bought sim free in UK and not insured so can't claim for replacement.
Anyway, I just want to know:
1. I live in London and is there any shops that I can buy a new sim free one from tomorrow (Monday)?
2. If 1 is not possible and I bought one from Hong Kong, would it be an Asia HD2 version or there is just one version globally? If it is Asia HD2, does it have English language and can you still use programs like CHT Home Tab/Editor, BsB Tweaks it?
3. I use the phone to receive my emails. Is there any chance the login password could be retrieved by whoever stolen it?
4. Can whoever stolen my phone still receive my emails even I have barred the SIM card?
Thanks!
If you used Microsoft My Phone app on your HD2 you can use it to possibly locate your phone. Just go to myphone.microsoft.com and log in with your Windows Live or MSN account wich ever one hou used for yhe Microsoft My Phome app.
Ic you by another HD2 there in Hong Kong it will more than likely be the Asian model HD2 and I think it does have english as one of the languages. You would also be abale to use all the apps you mentioned in your post. Just be careful if you do purchase one there as it is a lot of clone/fake HD2 being sold there and on the internet from there. But wih you have had a real HD2 you know how it should look and all. The fake ones look different.
Who ever stole your phone shouldn't be abale to get your passwords a.d if you have barred tbe sim card they will not be abale to use your sim card to make calls and such. They will have to sim unlock it to even be able to put another sim card in it to use with another carrier.
just adding on to what T-Macgnolia mentioned above. if you have the original box of your hd2 then it would have the imei. you can call your network provider and have the phone blocked completely. though of course it doesn't guarantee that you'll get your phone back, but at least the jerk who took it can't use the phone. it'll be a media player and a gps but as far as the phone app, it'll be blocked. normally your network carrier will pass on your imei to other network providers for blocking (at least i assume this'll be what happens as it's what's done here in australia).
- as mentioned above, just make sure you buy a genuine hd2 and not the clone. if you happen to stumble across one with a front cam or 2 sim card capabilities, it's a clone.
- definitely your emails are safe once your sim card is blocked
cheers

Even if it doesn't have english, you just enter in bootloader and flash any custom or unlocked location stock rom

Will try that. Hopefully Vodafone would do it even though it was not their branded HD2.
Just got off the phone with Vodafone - they said they couldn't do it.
Oh well, just have to be more careful in the future. This is the 1st time that I had a phone stolen since my Motorola MicroTAC II in the early 90's!
They can't do it because (I'm assuming) you didn't buy it from them. Ring o2 and they'll probably be able to block the IMEI and blacklist it. That's assuming you bought it from them too obviously.

just my 2 cents: sorry as i forgot to mention this bit
before i got my hd2 i was using a touch pro 2. it was stolen in my previous office (yeah the jerk works in the same place as i did). anyway, i called up my network provider (telstra) and they also said they couldn't lock my phone. however, i googled locking the imei and came up with yet another customer service line that was independent to telstra. so i reported my imei and it took a few seconds for the guy on the phone to say "ah, there it is." he then confirmed it was now locked.
played around with google and found this site:

not sure if this applies to you mate as you're in london while i'm in australia. but hope that helps.
cheers

Get one from a big reputable stores like Fortress, Broadway, Chung Yuan, etc. Make sure they have the QTS logo. Emphasis you want an English edition. The box should read "HTC HD2 T8585 (WWE)".
However, I don't think you would get international warranty.
I supposed you have already changed your passwords. Even then, he can still read the mails that are already downloaded.
HD2 in HK are using Asia/Europe bands:
3G: 900/2100
2G: 850/900/1800/1900
Should be the same as in UK.
Well, I went to lots of shops and finally found one that sold it - most other shops said the HD2 was unpopular and been discontinued for awhile. It was an Asian model and I asked if they could change it to English which they did. Had it for nearly 2 weeks now with no problems and all for £240 which was a great deal.
Incidentely I looked a copy version from China - put my SIM card in and it jammed...

[Q] SIM does not work with Argentine carrier

Hello folks,
I bougth a HTC HD Touch T8282 in France and used with Orange for many years. When I came back to Argentina I decided to change the operating system language from French to Spanish. Everything ok, the IMEI found under system device properties is the same as the one under the battery.
When I tried to insert a SIM from any Argentine carrier the following messages appeared. Please insert SIM, when it is present, you can do emergency calls whether your service provider allows you. The telephone is working well except of this little problem.
I will very appreciate an answer whether I must go to the carrier and ask them to unlock the phone in this company in order to allow me to use it.
Best regards,
