Delete Boatware and system apps with TitaniumBackup and TWRP - Xperia Z2 General

Hello guys!
Here is an instruction how you uninstall system apps and Bloatware in any Android version with TitaniumBackup (TB) and TWRP!
Like usual, I'm not responsible for any damage of your phone.
I use the Pro Version of TitaniumBackup because you have better capabilities and the following guide is written for all who have the Pro Version:
1. Check if you're rooted and you have a working TWRP recovery. If not, in the other threads it's written how you can do this.
2. Install TitaniumBackup from Play Store and the Pro Version of this app.
3. The best way to do a backup in TB is on the external SD card. If you use Lollipop or Marschmallow you have to grant TB the option to use the external SD. The Guide is below.
4. Make a backup of all apps on your phone in TB.
5. Reboot your phone to TWRP and make a complete backup of your phone in TWRP.
6. Reboot to system.
7. Open TB and then uninstall the apps which you don't need. Attention: Don't uninstall system apps which the phone needs for correct running!
8. Reboot immediately to TWRP. Click mount and then tick system.
9. Reboot to system.
Guide for granting write access in Android 5 or 6:
Cklick on Menu then Preferences and then Backup folder location. A new window will appear where you have to change the backup folder. Click on (click to change). Click on DocumentProvider storage and choose your external SD. Click on > and type in the new folder name for your Backup.
That's it! If I helped you please press Thanks!

Hmm, I don't use the freeze mode. I think that it's frozen forever.
Better don't freeze IMS service. I uninstall only apps which I know that it doesn't corrupt the system. It's like the same if modders do a debloat script. ?

Titanium Backup Zip Restore

Having an issue after installing the zip created with titanium backup pro. This is the first time attempting to use this feature so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've created the 2 different zips with my 2 sets of apps with the application. Confirmed they're both of proper sizes for the number of apps.
I go install the ROM (jellybeer) and Gapps and the zip for just titanium backup app. I reboot into the system and all is fine. Go into titanium backup, give it su permissions. Reboot to recovery.
Now I can install the app zips I created with titanium backup and it says successful install. Clear cache and reboot, and it never boots into the system. It just sits at the boot animation. I've let it sit for 2 hours and it never does boot.
Any suggestions?
Its a common fact that you should not restore system apps or data that includes settings from the old rom.
What 2 different sets of apps would you be referring to?

Not restoring any system data or apps. Just my 3rd party apps. I have one zip with my 3rd party apps where I want to restore their data as well. And them another zip where its just the app with no data, like Google+ and Google keep since they auto restore their data.
So no one else has any ideas?

Okay I tried this and still no go. ROM will just sit at the boot animation. Any other suggestions?
I've always preferred to restore from the tibu folder on the sdcard after installing the ROM then installing Tibu from the Play Store. Works great.

This fix solves force close issues with restoring apps with data in Titanium Backup.
This operation recursively fixes all SElinux file markers in /data/data, which are spoiled by titanium during data restore. (Quote from vodkinagdan)
User vodkinagdan found this solution:
Simply execute this from the terminal emulator:
su
restorecon -R -v /data/data
This has to be done after every restore (or batch of restores).
I take no credit for this but it works!

This is a problem with SELinux context on restored apps data. TB won't set it right so apps with restored data are force closed. Se context is set to "u: object_r:system_data_file:s0", but needs to be "u: object_r:app_data_file:s0".
This happening not only with android 5.0, but with android 4.3 and above, where SELinux was introduced. Normally this should be fixed by running this command from root shell on the phone: "restorecon -v -R /data/data"/
But on SM-G900F Polish rom I tnink restorecon is broken (it is crashed - segfaults), so I have to set security context instead of reset.
This can be done either by chcon command in shell, or by using Root Explorer's "change SE context" (+ option "also set on all sub-folders and files") on all folders of restored apps data. You should choose "select context from list" and then select "u: object_r:app_data_file:s0". Do not set context to this value for the whole folder "data", some subfolders needs to have a different security context!

I dont know why,but when I go to android/data , most of the folders are empty(just files and cache folders and both are empty)!
I tried to restore some apps+data and tried to change Se contexts of them(empty folders and non empty folders!) and force close again!
maybe I should change another thing! any Idea?
The only thing that works on Titanium is uninstall, nor backup, nor freeze, nor restore work
Other than I am very happy with Lollipop :good:

What do you mean by "android/data"? Applications have their data in /data/data (you should go in Root Explorer to root folder, then select folder "data" and in folder "data" select subfolder "data" again), each in their subfolder. On each folder that relate to your restored apps (you could check it by app name - like com.amazon.kindle etc) you should change SE context to what I have told in previous post.
I have already restored over 300 applications from 4.4.2 with TB and after this action all of them are worked without a force close.
I used Helium works much better than ****ty TB

[TOOL] Backup & Restore EFS on OnePlus 3

Backup & Restore EFS on your OnePlus 3[Root Needed]
To Backup:
1) Enable USB Debugging Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging.
If Developer Options not found, go to Settings -> About Phone and tap the build number rapidly 6-7 times till a toast comes up saying 'You're now a developer' . You will now see 'Developer Options' above About Phone in settings.
2) Download the attachment, extract it to a folder, connect your phone to PC through ADB, double click on 'BACKUP EFS.bat'. When it says 'Press any key...' just press any key on your keyboard! You'll see 'modemst1.bin' & 'modemst2.bin' files in the same folder where you extracted the ZIP, make more copies and backup of it! That's your EFS!
DONE!
Backup tested on OnePlus 3 OxygenOS version 3.1.2
To Restore:
1) Connect your phone in fastboot mode to PC, place your 'modemst1.bin' & 'modemst2.bin' in the extracted folder, double click on RESTORE EFS.bat'.
DONE!
I could not find any tool so far and apps from Play store fail to create a backup for OnePlus 3. So I have re-used the tool created by @Paresh Kalinani for OnePlus One and modified it to extract for OnePlus 3.

For those running Linux, it's a lot easier
Don't even bother with the Windows tool. All it takes to backup the files is a working ADB connection and two commands:
This copies the info and creates the two files.
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/sdf1 of=/storage/self/primary/modemst1.bin bs=512"; adb shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/sdf2 of=/storage/self/primary/modemst2.bin bs=512"
This copies the files to your current directory in the CLI.
Code:
adb pull /storage/self/primary/modemst1.bin; adb pull /storage/self/primary/modemst2.bin
I wasn't even able to get ADB to work in Windows. I installed the OP3 USB drivers, systemwide ADB/Fastboot tool, and still couldn't get it to work. I can see the phone fine in Windows, but ADB just refused to work. I then decided to inspect the BACKUP EFS.bat and RESTORE EFS.bat files to see what they were doing and it was just the two commands I posted here. If you're running Linux, don't waste your time fighting Windows to get this to work.
Restoring is the nearly the same. Run the following commands after connecting the phone via ADB.
Open a terminal in the directory where you saved the files you generated before and run this to copy them to the internal storage:
Code:
adb push modemst1.bin /storage/self/primary/modemst1.bin; adb push modemst2.bin /storage/self/primary/modemst2.bin
Then run this to flash the backups to the phone:
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd if=/storage/self/primary/modemst1.bin of=/dev/block/sdf1 bs=512"; adb shell su -c "dd if=/storage/self/primary/modemst2.bin of=/dev/block/sdf2 bs=512"
Damn, I love Linux.

To backup you don't require pc ,just run given commands in terminal...but to restore you requires pc(as per Naman bhalla thread).
I have question in my mind that if it's possible to backup then why we can't restore backup just reversing command in terminal

Bloatware?

Okay so recently I have rooted my E4 (Sprint) and can't seem to uninstall system apps. It comes with face book and all that other Sprint bloat. But when i use an app to try to uninstall them, they just stay there. Any help? I'm currently rooted with magisk 13.3 and have xposed installed along with busy box.

What app are you using to remove the apps? Titanium Backup? I've had TBU not uninstall some apps for whatever reason, but link2sd was able to remove apps. Might want to try it.
I've noticed some of the apps that are carrier installed are in the oem folder, deleted them and problem solved. This was on a metro PCS variant.
This is the oem folder, I used FX file explorer.

It was freezing on me when I was using root explorer pro, that's why I ended up switching to FX. Also when you rooted your device did you do a wipe and then flash noverity and then su because if you didn't do the wipe your phone might still be encrypted and it won't allow you to modify system folders.

You could try deleting them in the file browser on twrp
That is how I had said I to do it in the thread I started explaining how to do it. This users problem is they can't find the option to mount the OEM folder in twrp to be able to see the contents in the file manager to edit it.

How to delete system apps on rooted stock 10?

Hi everyone, Titanium says "failed to locate apk", system apps remover shows it deletes the app but after reboot it's still there. I used Mixplorer to go to root /system/apps to find YouTube but it wasn't there. Then went to /data/app found YouTube, deleted and rebooted into a bootloop. What's the way to delete system apps on 10? Thanks.
SD Maid.
Enviado desde mi PH-1 mediante Tapatalk
Google made changes in Q that prevents /system from being mounted.
The Magisk way to do this is to use a module like [MODULE][Terminal] Debloater v17.3.2 - Debloat Systemlessly.
This works by putting an empty file in place of the app you are removing. It doesn't actually reclaim any system space.
Otherwise, you can use ADB to disable apps. My guess is that TiBu will freeze apps also.
