MM 6.0 floating windows - Xperia Z4 Tablet General

Some of you might remember the last post i made about the floating windows mod... well that didn't work in MM, but now a_sh_ over at the xhalofloatingwindow thread made it work!
As with the last time you need to have xposed and i would advise to have the uninstaller zip ready just in case our z4 tab decides it has had it with the mods xD
1. Install the files under the post (i will post new files from the original thread when a_sh_ uploads a update and i can confirm it works on the z4)
2. Activate module in xposed and reboot
3. It may or may not freeze when starting apps after a reboot.... If it does like it did for me, one or 2 resets and reboots with the button near the sim/sd will make it boot(only took one reset for me)
4. In the XHFW app go to popup window and set popup dim to 0, it in my opinion makes it look more like true windows or linux instead of just looking like a normal popup and also makes the background app visible
5. Enable movable and resizable windows (go ahead and mess with the settings there as you wish)
6. Toggle multiwindow sidebar from your app drawer
7. In multiwindow sidebar app set tap launch mode to open as xhalofloatingwindow(center), i found this to work best for me but by all means try others if you want
8. Add apps to the sidebar
9. Have fun melting your snap810 with 4 games at once
As it always is with these huge hacks that shouldn't really work, probably not all apps will behave nice when forced to resize but i think it is at a usable level
Under the post is a pic of it running a few apps and the 2 apps needed to do this.

Another pic of it running 2 games at once (no lag) a chat a file explorer and 1080p yt (once more no lag) but it damn near melted a hole in the back of the tab xD temps were extreme but one would expect that as this was never designed to run more than one game at once. When only watching yt+ browsing or doing chat browsing and yt or only one game and other lightweight apps the temps remain normal so thats nice

New app version (uninstall old and install this) it is apparently a bit more polished than the last ver.

[Review]CM9 port on Galaxy3[Review]

Hello everybody...XD
I've been trying the "new" port of Cyanogenmod 9 (ICS), from the following topic:
[DEV][WIP] Ice Cream Sandwich Port (AOSP/CM9)
And after some weeks of dayly usage of build 4 with Update 1 i've decided to make a review of it.
The original post has a list of working and not working features, so first of all i'm going to comment and complete the ROM issues:
Bluetooth: It's not possible even to turn it on, so if you really use the bluetooth, forget it.
Wifi AP: The native tool doesn't work at all. The ROM includes the app Wifi-Tether, through this app you are able to turn on the Wifi-AP, other devices can see and connect but that's all, you can't actually use the internet .
Calendar: In the raw ROM it's not possible to syncronize your google calendar account, it can be solved by installing the GAPPS: link GAPPS...Thanks Halco (it also fixes a google+ app issue)
Camera(Photo): You can took photos but you can see them only after they are saved, through the gallery app, i mean the camera app has no live preview of the photo, only a black screen.
Camera(Video): You can't record videos period.
Videos: You can't watch videos, even youtube videos, youtube crashes when it attempts to reproduce the video.
Games: Forget every application which demands high processing .
Issues I've faced during usage:
Sometimes the phone crashes when you remove the power cable;
You cannot natively sync your facebook contacts (I've used this appfacebook contact-Sync.=P);
Sometimes all of a sudden the phone freezes, and you need to reebot it ;
It can take a bit to open the App Draw if you join the Apps and Widget Tabs, if you face this slowness go to Settings->Laucher->App Draw and uncheck Join with Apps;
The Data Usage (a native tool that keeps a track of your data usage) doesn't work;
Those were all the problems i had with this ROM, but all the other amazing Ice Cream Sandwich features are fully operative, so if you just like me don't use those missing tools go ahead it is a legendary SO with dozen of little features that make all the difference, all with an smooth interface...XD
Well this review is my attempt of a useful way to say thank you to the Developers...
Nice review, and yes you can post market links, just not links to warez websites.

i've just installed...soon I post my experience
actually you should use latest openFIMG update with arakmars G3mod kernel. it improves overall performance and data usage feature works with the new kernel.
general assumption: when doing a review you might want to say some positive stuff about the ROM as you only said which features don't work. overall performance is good on ICS though trebuchet launcher consumes a lot of CPU power (but it's version 0.1, so there will be improvements anyway). there's no word on battery life, too, which is quite good for ICS.
[edit:] oops I was to slow
Good review, but to many problems,i will instal it in the future,ICS is amazing,
I like to add some more bugs

I like to add some more bugs,
- During the call when you press any key to interact with IVR the phone call goes to mute.
- Phone became very slow when you using is continuously.
A lot of faults but not much said about the features that are working so just thought I would go a bit further....
Widgets in appdraw
You can now view all widgets in the app draw without having to add them to the home screen, this is a staple feature of ICS and has been ported beautifully, it gives you a grid size in the draw too so you can see sizes.
Folders on homescreens
You can pile apps ontop of eachother to create folders so you can have all your messaging apps (whatsapp, fbmessenger, smmsmms) in one place. just click on it and it will open the folder to make your choice. it makes finding things quickly very simple, especially if you have alot of apps.
Apex Launcher
Apex launcher is a replacement launcher for trebuchet and helps run the new OS butter smooth. it also a little more customisable and user friendly and runs the best on this port. if you want fast and smooth, download it and push it to system/app for all functions
notification bar
the notification pull down bar on the port is alot more customisable than anything on GB or earlier OS's. add a weather option to it for a really sexy look.
Once installing the new gapps, they work absolutely fine, still a few syncing issues but all in all a decent attempt, the calendar especially is cleaner and more user friendly than previous builds.
extended power menu is working brilliantly, can go straight into download or recovery mode which i believe is now touch screen if i remember correctly... (please correct if wrong) and connecting to wifi is fast and reliable. There are many more things that really do show a huge amount of promise in this build, it is clear that given a little time and help with resources, these dev's are going to pull off what i personally didnt think possible. ICS ON G3!! D
Did some testing
I tested a view tastes of CM9. Was quite happy with the latest builds, however discovered a small issue that makes it a bit difficult to operate. I will describe it, hope this helps the developers.
First: Wifi, data is all working quite well, calender worked as I needed.
After flashing the rom CM9 systems work fine for about a day, after that when the phone goes into sleep you can wake it up, however the digitizer does not show any sign of life.
The screen however is fully functional, buttons operate.
After some random button pressing the digitizer migt start working, sometimes a reboot is the only solution.
However after a reboot sometimes it operates for half an hour and shows up problems with the digitizer again. I had this on both the G3 phones I owe (use one for testing).
Why it operates the first day after flashing without a problem is a little weird.
For the moment I'm back on Dutchmod 5.3
I lost the market (play store) after installing the G-apps given in the first post.
Looks like the G-apps from the above link is de-Odex.
Can any one give me a link to the odex G-apps?

I don't think gapps has odex and deodex apps
It is the ROM which is odexed and deodexed.
It works for icsforg3 build 4 so you can install it on any odex ROM

[Q] How to make MF3 snappier?

Well my S4 is running MF3, rooted and bloatware frozen... however sometimes it lags, even my S2 running Shostock 3.0.2 (based on 4.1.2) is way more snappier. So all you guys with MF3 what are you doing to make this crap MF3 worth the "S4 name" ?
Thanks.
I have been on a quest to see "lag" on S4 which I cannot say I have seen (or it is in places I am not paying attention to)
However I have been checking out some apps that state they make you device run like new or something towards those lines. maybe I can help you
#1 Get XPOSED FRAMEWORK from apps store (free) - this is like a gateway to some cooler fucntionality
#2 Get GREENIFY from apps store (free) - read instructions - do not greenify clocks or messaging apps or they wont work
--use common sense basically, I greenify all games, browsers....stuff that I start interaction with.
#3 Get WANAM XPOSED from apps store (free) - here you can adjust colors and a lot of functionality.
---one thing of interest is ENABLE BOOST MODE (enables benchmark boosting for CPU to achieve MAX power)
#4 Get Android Tuner (free/paid) - I paid for mine. However this app lets you tune every aspect of the OS, if you're a power linux guy you'll pick up on what it is doing.
---however this provides a feature called TRIM which keeps the drive/storage at top performance. Google "ssd trim" for details if you dont know what it is
Now I can use these apps *blindly* and force my phone to run slow, but if I disable them (back to stock settings) I seem to run just fine
A word of caution:
Throwing every "enhancement" feature from different 3rd party application on top of each other can have a negative effect.
*Ever run 2 decent antiviruses at the same time? They play tug-of-war with infected files and you lose performance

Thanks for those recommendations.. they look awesome will try one at a time except the XPOSED FRAMEWORK.. until a flashable image of MF3 is rolling, I'm trying to avoid messing with framework...
But well this is lag is kinda weird.. for example after using the browser or any other app for a bit of time then when press home button it lags to show the default screen and when it does the whole "desktop" is been redrawed of course this not always happen, sometimes it's very fast.
Also sometimes scrolling between the windows is very fast but sometimes very slow. And this lag is present when using several launchers, apex pro, nova or touchwiz, and i don't have much widgets running.. exactly the same as my galaxy s2 which can handle all this light usage without a problem..

Gee I dont experience any of those problems.
Scratch that - I do get desktop redrawn if I play a heavy game for a while. I do remember seeing it put back the weather and the icons. Nothing I would consider a showstopper nor can I make it happen on demand
I am using the default Samsung Touch Wizard and no other launcher
Good luck in your quest of the Lag Beast

[Q&A] No Root? Why? What do you miss about root? Let's find workarounds!

ROUNDUP OF NON-ROOT MODS/APPS/SOLUTIONS
APPS
1. iFont
It uses the native Flipfont system present in the Note to change fonts. You can install any font from a very big list and if you buy the Donate version (which I highly recommend), you can make an installable apk for any font you want. I have already made and shared Roboto L fonts, Comic Sans and Comic Neue.
2. Adblock Plus
Works on WiFi and (if APN settings are edited) on mobile data, blocks apps on browsers and other apps. An excellent solution for ad-blocking on non-routed phones.
2b. An alternative solution that only works for browsing via WiFi networks is Adguard.
3. SMS Backup & Restore
A free app that can backup and restore your messages, no root required. Works flawlessly, I used to it to backup my SMS on my S4 and restore them to my Note 4.
4. Greenify
As mentioned in this thread, Greenify works without root as well. Automatic hibernation is even an option, albeit some issues with "talking calculator" have been mentioned.
5. My Backup
As mentioned here this app is a feature-rich backup solution for non-rooted phones.
6. SD Maid - System Cleaning Tool
This app attempts to make best possible use of its features without root present. It's a tool that cleans up unnecessary files from your phone that apps leave behind.
7. AutoStart - No root
As the name suggests, this app lets you select which applications you want to auto start after phone boot-up and it works on all phones/tablets without root permission. You can also choose one or multiple apps to auto-launch at boot with customisable delay values.
8. Busybox (No Root)
For advanced users who want to run busybox commands on their phones via the Android Terminal Emulator app.
9. Call Recorder
Call recording app that uses the Samsung standard API therefore does not require root access. It is a bit pricey but well worth the money for people who need that feature. There's a full-featured trial available from XDA so you can try before you buy.
9b. There is also a free alternative that has been reported to work well on the Note 4, AndroRec Free.
9c. Another great free alternative is Automatic Call Recorder, with the added bonus that it can record in better formats, like mp3 or wav, save on the SD card and the option for prompt to "Save or Delete" at the end of every call.
10. NoRoot Firewall
Firewall without root. Host name/domain name filtering, simple interface, fine-grained access control and no suspicious permissions on the app itself.
11. Better Wifi On/Off
A free, fully featured, ad-supported app that aims at giving you the control of the Wifi state, optimizing your battery life without losing on user experience. In theory, Wifi is less power hungry than 3G but some apps behave differently when Wifi is on (DropBox / Google+ uploads, Google Maps location caching) and the well known wlan_rx kernel wakelock is a symptom of wakeups caused by uncontrolled Wifi hotspots. The Wifi sleep policy is not working consistently and does not solve all the above problems, enter this app.
12. Helium - App Sync and Backup
Helium is the missing app sync and backup solution for Android and doe not require root. You can backup both your apps and their data to your SD card or cloud storage and sync them from your other Android devices. You need access to a computer for a brief USB connection and then you're good to go.
13. Desktop VisualizeR
Application that allows you to personalize your home screen by creating icons or widgets with your favorite photos or images, works on any launcher, even TW!
14. FREE screen recorder NO ROOT
Recordable is the easy way to create screen recordings without root. The free version adds a watermark on the recordings and limits frame rate to 8fps, but is otherwise fully functional. A Windows, Mac or Linux computer required to complete the installation (like with Helium Backup), but after this it's not needed to make screen recordings.
MODIFICATIONS
1. Full Screen Immersive Mode
Full screen immersive mode in any application or game, root is not required.
2.Enable AirView and AirGesture
2b. Instead of Nova Launcher, you can use the QuickShortcutMaker app to create any shortcut directly on the Touchwiz launcher.
3. MW-Pen App Enabler
This app that enables apps for multiwindow and/or pen window without rooted access. The only limitations are that it does not work for system apps and that enabled apps can not be updated. To update them, you need to uninstall the enabled app first, install the updated app and run it through the enabler app again.
4. Mont Blanc digital content
A guide on how to get the extra Mont blanc pens for the S Note and the two exclusive Mont Blanc wallpapers and unlock effect..
5. QuickClick
Start any action (flashlight, system toggles, media controls, etc) with a sequence of volume buttons clicks.
6. Spen Toolbox
A wonderful little app that extends the functionality of the S-Pen, by offering options for: turning the screen off when you attach the pen, changing the detach and attach sounds, creating a custom shortcut popup to appear on detach, and many more!
7. No root and want to modify your DPI? You can!
Thanks to PizzaSauce, we have a way to modify DPI without root. All you need is access to a Windows PC. Changes persist after reboot too.
If you don't want to install the whole Android SDK, you could use this tool to install ADB, which is all that is needed for this mod.
Hello all!
I recently got my Note 4 and it's by far the best device I've ever owned.
I started this thread because I decided not to root the phone -at least for now. Even though, I've been rooting and heavily modding all my phones in the past.
My reasons are:
1. Warranty.
I know that you can flash a stock firmware before handing it to service and that KNOX counter doesn't matter (I've had my Note 10.1 with a tripped counter repaired twice under warranty). However, I'd like for once to be able to just send my phone to service if need be, without the extra hassle of concealing the tweaking I've done.
2. S-Pen.
I know that rooting doesn't affect the S-Pen functionality, however, the use of the Pen makes custom ROMS such as AOSP and CM useless to me. I actually use the S-Pen heavily and it was one of the reasons I bought the phone. There are of course custom TW ROMS but to be honest, and with no intention to offend anyone, they are not my cup of tea.
3. Stability.
This one will seem weird to many, but it's my personal experience. This is the 4th Samsung device I own (SGS3, SGS4, Note 10.1, Note 4) and with the previous three I noticed that when I rooted and enthusiastically started "debloating", things started to turn unstable. And I have never, ever noticed any improvement in battery life. I know it sounds odd, but it is true to me. The Note 4 gives you the option to disable a lot of preinstalled apps anyway.
4. Lollipop.
I want to get the update that was meant for my region via OTA, no cables necessary. Plus I believe that all the annoyances I rectified with root (mainly theming, such as Tinted Statusbar) will be solved in Lollipop. Again, that's my opinion and personal taste.
Now do I miss root? Hell, yeah! Why?
1. ADS ADS ADS...
Ads everywhere! I have been paying for my apps and I am not using pirated software at all. And I gladly donate/pay for ads to be removed and premium features for apps I really love. However, there are apps that either don't offer an a ad-free option or they charge an insane amount for ad removal. I know developers need to make revenue, but there's nothing uglier than an ad banner. Seriously.
2. Tinted statusbar.
And generally Xposed.
3. Call recording.
I liked the native call recording function of the TW dialer, no app comes close from what I've seen.

I decided not to root as well. I'm using the note 4 as my backup phone with the oneplus one as my DD. I don't want to root until an option to root without tripping knox is available. I'm very curious to know what options are avaailable to non rooted phones. Thanks for starting this thread. Great idea.
3. Call recording.
I liked the native call recording function of the TW dialer, no app comes close from what I've seen.
Try this app, by an actual XDA dev, it works great. Its very polished, very native looking/behaving app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder
Tested and working great without root.
My reason not to root note4 is lollipop upgrade from ota too
I think this note4 is good enough for me except ads like you said
For me I need root to
- Change the very bad Arabic font
- Use proxy applications
- Be able to stop WifiKill which they use heavily over here
- Use Wanam Xposed mostly for Long press back button to kill App
- Freeze all the useless pre-installed apps I never use eating memory and battery, I need maximum memory for multitasking
- Stop auto startup of other un needed apps
well I guess these may not be important to you

The font is something I also miss, Roboto has been vastly improved for Lollipop. So I'm waiting for the big update.
EDIT: I figured out a way to change font that doesn't require root, it uses the native Flipfont system present in the Note!
Using the iFont app you can install any font from a very big list and if you buy the Donate version, you can make an installable apk for any font you want! Marvellous!

There is a way for non-rooted phones to block ads only on WiFi though on both WiFi and mobile data connections, using an app called Adblock Plus.

Hi guys,
It is my first post although I had been lurking for a while now. Interesting thread, I didn't root my Note 4 as well for all the reasons mentioned above. What I miss most is App Opps or XPrivacy. I find it hard to install all the applications I want to try because of the ridiculous amount of permissions required. Other than that I don't miss much. The phone is pretty awesome.
I was forced to root because I had app data on another device that couldn't be moved, even through ADB.
But, Xposed,Titanium Backup, Adaway , greenify and a few others make rooting well worth the risk (once you know your devices hardware is good ).

Have you tried installing Viper and see if it works? Because a quick Google search gave me these:
If you're using a Samsung device, you're lucky because you actually don't need root to install the Viper4Android! Only thing you need to do is to install the app as usual and change the sound effect in*settings > sound > music effect*to Viper4Android. Be sure you don't use the TouchWiz stock player because it may not work.

...And from the official XDA thread:
Setup your Device
For Samsung devices,
1. Try install V4A as user app instead of system app if the latter failed doesn't work.
2. Use Normal Mode and select V4A FX in Settings>Sound>Music Effects.
3. If don't work, use another player rather than Samsung stock Music.

Jumping on the band wagon here too... I've had many android devices, all rooted; most recently an S4 running CM. The reason I bought the Note was for the stylus and note taking abilities. Very happy with the speed and stability so far in stock form although the battery life sucks. Dropbox was a major drainer so killed that. I need to selective disable some of the other stock apps but so far not really missing much requiring root other than titanium backup...

I had an S4 running a GPE edition ROM too. I only miss aesthetic modifications, like Tinted Statusbar and other theming elements.
Titanium Backup is also high on my list, however, I found SMS Backup & Restore works perfectly for messages (see OP). That's something!
Thanks for this lovely thread. Getting Adblock without root feels like an early Christmas. Would like to add that "My Backup" backs up SMS and much more without root. It also now backs up to Dropbox which is lovely (at least the Pro version does).

Keep them coming!
Also, if anyone needs any specific installable font, post the .ttf file here and I'll make an apk.

Sometimes heavily modding your phone can become too much and it's nice to let things be once in a while!
I added SD Maid and AutoStart - No root in the OP.

Lemfo Smartwatch Development

Does anyone have experience customizing the Lemfo smartwatches running Android 5.1? I am getting an LEM4 and wanted to know if its possible to gain access to the ROOT OS??? How can I download the firmware from the watch? If anyone can help, I would be happy to post the results here and the firmware.
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...itor-MTK2502C-APK-for/926956_32613146232.html
Thanks,
Blue.
I'd like to know also. On eBay they go by DM98. Ive seen a few YouTube videos now and my biggest gripe is that it doesn't look like it responds well or quickly. Skype looks like a terrible frame rate. But I want it! But I want it to be good. Lol. Maybe I can solder in another 1gd of RAM?
i just have the Lem5 really great watch already making my own watch themes (verry easy todo) but dint look into the rom section yet, mainly because i havee everything and google app store to install stuff. Right now i have spotify music stream to my amplifier runs great and battery live is more then 10 hours.

I got my LEM4 rooted with rootking without any problems. I would like to try to change the small partition size where you install the apps because there is not much room for installing apps.

Oh and watch out which one of the LEM4 you buy. There seems to be two versions out there, one has android 4.4 (like the one in your link) and the other one has android 5.1.

I accidentally ordered the Android 4.4 one, what i really wanted was Android 5.1.
Had no problem rooting the 4.4.
I really like this watch, specially battery life but the way the storage is partitioned makes it difficult to really get the most out of it.
As is explained in another thread, you only have about 601mb of space for installing apps (and most of that space is already filled with stockapps) and about 2gb of space for storing your files like music, video and photo's etc...
If i could find a way to re-partition the storage space it would really be a winner for me.
Got mine a few days ago. I like it. I seems to have gotten the 4.4 one too.
A few questions:
1) How do I connect it to a computer? Where is the usb port?
2) Can I have a sim and micro SD card or are they the same?
3) Have we figured out how to put on custom watch faces?
4) Would you mind posting a link to putting custom firmware like Android Wear?
Thanks all!
@froggerman: did / could you upgrade to 5.1 (is a 5.1 rom available somewhere) after rooting? Did you swap the apps to storage with eg titanium backup (sorry, old)?

Hi
could you elaborate how to make own watch themes.

I'm very pleased with my DM98 (~LEM4, with android 4.4), imho it points to the future of wrist computers (= not 'watch' but wrist computer), so this forum should become interesting. A few quirks with which I could use some very appreciated help:
1. No navigation bar, I use 'Notification bar opener' and 'Head-up notification' to circumvent this, but there must be another / better way(?). A setting I'm overlooking?
2. No 24hour style clock setting option / checkbox in 'Date & time' setting, also not findable via 'Settings Search' app (thanks Smartwatch Ticks). Cannot find an app solution for this.
3. Rooted with kingroot (thanks Froggerman), but have some difficulties using Titanium Backup to move apps to storage, or back. Backup itself went smoothly once the backup-path was set. Anybody better option for apps to SD (there are too much apps with this name!).
4. Only one button, so no easy recovery booting (I think), no idea if Nandroid or some such can safely (re)flash a TWRP of CMW partition. Anybody braver than me?
Stats from Titanium Backup:
- 154MB of 825MB system ROM free.
- 713MB of 1.36GB free in internal memory with ~300MB apps installed (so no worries there) and
- 1.14GB free in 'Media' (=storage or SD or..).

I have not upgraded to 5.1 yet. There seems to be no firmware/rom available for the LEM4. Rooting it was the easy part. Trying to repartition it is turning out to be difficult. First of all there is no way to get into recovery mode using only the on/off button. I tried ROM Manager with my Lemfo LEM4 to force it into recovery mode. It does work and it seems that the LEM4 did go to the Recovery startup screen but not all of the information is beeing shown. It's like the screen zooms in (or the resolution of the screen is not big enough to show everything). Normally i should see a screen with a "dead" android logo and on top of the screen a choice menu but on the LEM4 only the middle part with the android logo is shown. So you can't see the choice menu. And even if you did, there are no up and down buttons (volume buttons) to make a selection and then enter that selection... I also would like to go into the recovery mode but can't seem to find a way with the zoomed in screen and the lack of selection buttons...
When you force it to recovery mode with ROM Manager you get totally stuck and have to let the battery drain out to get the LEM4 watch up and running again.

I wanted the LEM4 to be more smartphone then smartwatch. I also don't like the watchfaces that comes with it and find them not very usefull. I made the LEM4 smartwatch much more productive by installing the following apps:
APEX Launcher (i find this one even better then nova launcer. You lose the watchfaces but are able to put time and date on the homescreen by using widgets. And when you swipe down from the top, you get your typpical notification shown).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher
Virtual softkeys (This one is great, get back/home/running app button on your screen). You can even make the softkeys disappear when you don't need them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.com.daxia.virtualsoftkeys
Power Toggles (Toggle your bluetooth/wifi/data and lots more right on your homescreen(widget) or notification screen)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Simple Digital Clock Widget (just a widget to set a clock on the homescreen, but i like it)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=milk.digital.clock
Headsup notification (you want notifications on your screen popping up like on smartphones and tablets? then this app is for you. I have not found an app yet that creates a notification bar, but this one is close)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tifications&rdid=codes.simen.l50notifications
Screen On Off Lock (you can turn off the screen by using app, it takes off the pressure of your on/off hardbutton)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
Get access to all the android settings
Settings Search - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katzoft.settings.search.full

These stats are differant then my LEMFO LEM4. I only have 600Mb free in internal memory, and that space is fulled up easily with stock apps and updates. There is about 2gb free in media. Seems that yours is differantly partitioned
Thanks for the info. I'll stick to Nova but agree on most of your choices and used most of them already, but not virtual softkeys, going to try that. I use 'Neon Clock' on homescreen (has a few issues but I like it).
More applications do not well-behave on the tiny screen (320x240, same as very first PDA: XDA(!) from O2), like Pujie black watch (only wear watchface designer with homescreen widget option). Apparently not all programmers check on pixel-dimensions at startup. Also -like in titanium backup- some pop-ups and message boxes do not let you scroll down to the OK or Cancel buttons, so you can only backup.
I guess nobody saw a return to smaller pixel-size coming, and this 'watch' will hopefully get more pixels and less thickness in the future.

The "solution" to the small screen resolution and trying to get past certain startup screen is the following :
Install on your LEM4 Ultimate rotation control. And force it to portrait mode.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=ultimate rotation control&c=apps
Then install Resolution changer and with the forced portrait mode you get passed the startupscreen of resolution changer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.zuim.resolutionchanger&hl=nl
In resolution changer , change only the DPI (let the screen resolution stay at maximum 320x240). and lower the DPI number. This wil zoom out the screen and will let you pass all of the apps startup screens you come across. The only problem i had with this app is that when the keyboard pops up, it isn't properly zoomed out. But be carefull with this app, if you accidently zoom in, you can get into trouble.
This is how i UNROOTED my LEM4 (i sold my LEM4 in original condition and i ordered the android 5.1 version). If you don't use resolution changer, you are unable to uninstall rootking (and unrooting it)

Hi,
Where did you find the 5.1 version? Any obvious differences or advantages besides the newer OS?
I got around the DPI issues with Xposed and App Settings module. I used KingoRoot when I first rooted the watch, but i have since factory reset and used RootKing this time around. The only thing that worries me is how much space it uses. I looked in settings and it using 99mb of storage space! I have no idea why it's using that much besides those extra built in Purify apps which do not show in the uninstaller so I cant remove them. Compared to the 10 or so watches I already have, I really like this watch so I'm trying to make it work in spite of its shortcomings. The battery life alone makes up for it.
I'm using Nova launcher right now. I'm going to give smart launcher a shot and report back. If you don't want to use any 3rd party launchers you can use the stock launcher then install SwipeStatusBar to get your notification pull down. Still haven't figured out how get a static statusbar though. I also installed PIE controls in the GravityBox Xposed module so I can swipe in from the corner of the screen to get my PIE controls like a menu, recent apps, and home button.

The LEM4 is also known as the DM98. But the DM98 comes in two versions. Android 4.4 and Android 5.1. You can find a list of them here :
https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesal...AS_20161221092427&SearchText=dm98+android+5.1
There are different brands selling these. I ordered the TTLIFE one.
It seems that not a whole lot is different between the two android versions. I guess that the FunOS launcher stayed the same. But i hope that it gives me even more better battery life. In the comments section of the LEM4 review on the Smartwatch Ticks youtube channel there was someone who had the android 5.1 version and from what i can tell there could be a chance that the app space on the DM98 (Android 5.1 version) is bigger then the LEM4. But I will only be sure when i recieve it (probably within two weeks or so).
The static status bar is also something i couldn't find. I tried a dozen apps but they didn't work.
The PIE control app looks a bit like omni swipe... I hope to get my DM98 soon.
Did you know: tapping repeatedly on 'Build Number' under 'About Watch' is settings will open up 'DEVELOPER OPTIONS'?

Did u you ever get the DM98 Android 5.1 version?
How is the storage partitioned? Do you notice any other improvements over the 4.4 version?

Hi,
Did u ever receive your DM98?
I got my TTLIFE 2016 DM98 which I ordered on the 1st of December. According to CPU-Z this is running Android 4.4 so I'm not sure about the 5.1 version that everyone is expecting. The partitioning seems better as I have around 700 MB for applications even though I have installed some already.

Microwear H5 MT6737M Android 6

Very scarce info everywhere, but quite a few people already use this $80 super-powerful watch including me (which is basically a micro-smartphone).
Many video reviews already.
I personally think that such powerful watch (much more powerful than my cheap 2016 tablet on previous Mediatek chip with less RAM) is a such small smartphone with illusion like it’s watch made by very modified version of Circle launcher with edited Android 6. I don’t see any limitations on this watch to run full stock Android OS here from the M6737M series smartphones, if ported. Even now all full-featured apps from Google store made for smartphones are perfectly runs here, including very big navigation apps and even the full “battery saver” function present from smartphones (first one which I see on Android watch ever). The only limitation which I noticed is very small display (specific apps cannot fit) and badly edited Android OS (like completely deleted status bar from OS, any 3rd-party status bar apps are installing fine but crashing on settings). Most 3rd-party launchers from Google store and open sources are installing here (only with few exceptions) - the most stable one I’ve found is open source “Essential Launcher” ver. 1.3.
My feeling from “lift wrist turn on” function with “swipe pages” makes almost iPhone X experience here, no any buttons needed, very stable power on only by view and swiping windows (including closing them by swiping to the right) makes very good feedback to the user.
Everything spoiled only by edited OS - awful work with fonts, too many illogical Menu lists, deleted functions like not present “Storage” in OS settings(only shortcut to file explorer) - the USB storage media not adding because of edits on OS level, considering normal micro-USB & even if you turn on “usb media” in developer settings.
Very few watch-faces with no way to install any others, it’s obviously fake feature to make you feel and use them as watch.
So, what I think many would be glad to see here - the root is the most important goal for now(developer menu allows bootloader unlock-not sure if it’s true because USB media settings there not works), maybe putting the normal Android is the next goal.
The root is very needed to firewall for very shady apps here, it’s very powerful device so it have full smartphone spyware, like notorious MTK Logger & Thermal Manager, which can work at sleep mode (it is almost suspicious that they broke USB media function so user can’t bypass network connection for installs). Root needed to work with display resolution and etc.
Edit: the processor by Aida app recognized as MT6737M but on Aliexpress you can find watch easily by search term processor "MTK6737M" (only like 7 sellers total).
I have the H5 as well, and you're correct! The main draw back is the stripped down OS, for example the call forwarding features are missing..
Ordered one of these a few weeks ago, should be getting delivery soon. Interesting to see how it performs, my last android watches have been mt6572 & mt6580, both of these I ported full Android versions to, I may give it a go at porting a full Android version to this in the future

Well I got mine today, seems good so far. As for alternative launchers tried a few that work OK, if you want to change the clockskins for now I have found that Universal Launcher New Gen works just fine (you add clockskin folder +clockskins)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ricktop.ClockSkinCoco
I use mine at least 2 weeks maybe. Without root (which I plan to do but don't have time right now) I do not connect them to any Internet, so I'm using them as just watch (it's my first smartwatch). Files I'm sending through bluetooth from my Android phone, quite neat that you can install apps from bluetooth menu right away.
About battery - very good, if you don't connect them to networks at all, with battery Saver on & "wrist move activation" off they can work whole week on 1 charge (this includes some extensive using in 2 days on winter street with GPS apps, camera-video, constant time checking and etc.). They CAN HOLD MORE days, after the full charge, watch calculated the battery to the 15 days of work - which is believable, as I see now if you will check only time manually they can easily save 1 charge to 12-13 days. I use charger with them only once at week, it's quite shocking to read Apple Watch forums where people making that every 2-3 days.
They're quite powerful - making the zip archive internally from 250Mb photos/videos takes something like 2 minutes.
Because the step-counter here work always (even if you take them to the other room) - this device is just made for the SmartNavi (open source navigation app which use mainly step-counter with rare or no GPS connection for battery saving).
Can't wait for a custom recovery to be made for it, so I can root it. Tried all the rooting apps out on the web and none work so far.
Well I have managed to get Root access, using Magisk, and flashing patched boot image, struggling to create a TWRP recovery. Hoping someone out there can come up with a custom recovery.
Managed to port TWRP to it, but it is in miniature! going to have a play around with it to see if I can make it usable. Anyone with suggestions be grateful - well gave up on trying to amend TWRP resolution, and installed flashify - just flashed an AOSP ROM to the H5, happy days!
Well done stevea76
A step by step or point in the right directions kinda 'guide' would be really appreciated, cos the H5 with its stock funos is far from fun... sure its usable but no fun.

It would be interesting to find if there's any "recovery mode" on stock ROM image at all, considering that there's only 1 button. On similar watches from Samsung and etc they have quite awkward way to enter recovery - like some swipe to the left in time of logo showing and etc. I tried to repeat any swiping during boot - nothing...
Also, by the usual use of watch (almost a month now) I can say that in my case of use the battery holding 1 full charge for 7 days, so a week, the same amount calculated by OS also. That's the battery regime or mode which is now constant in my case (it can be different in situation of other people).
The battery here can be saved even more for a week - I managed to notice that "sleep stat" function are working here at all times and cannot be turned off like step counter in this Android OS, at the night time it randomly turning on the pulse checker light even if you not wearing them, which using the battery (not a big deal, but using some).

Here is the link to the AOSP ROM I ported to the H5.
I must express it is a long winded way to flash it as I am not technically minded, just playing at it, and only do this if you have the stock ROM downloaded as a backup to revert back to and don't mind the possibility of wrecking your toy!, the only reason for me doing it this way is that the recovery TWRP I ported is functional, but not set for the screen size for the H5 so unless you have bionic eyes it is nearly impossible to use, hence the reason for my 'workaround' (note: If anyone can make the TWRP scaled for the watch, just flash the ROM in the usual way)
Here is a 'sort of' guide and link to files.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=252561
1. Flash
Microwear_Magisk_Patched_Boot_IMG using splash tool, reboot device.
2. Install Magisk Manager from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445/page4
Open Magisk manager and go to settings, set default action to 'Grant'
You now have root.
3. Flash
Microwear_H5_Recovery_TWRP using spflashtool.
4. Install
Flashify (for root users) from the Playstore.
5. Download directly to the watch (or to Computer and transfer to the watch) Microwear_H5_AOSP ROM AND the GAPPS of your choice (Open Gapps arm64 nano was my choice)
6. Use Flashify to install zip(s) making sure you click TWRP as recovery option and also tick the wipe cache, data etc (add the Gapps as well if you want Google)
Click Reboot on flashify.
Hopefully the watch boots to recovery and installs the ROM and gapps!
First boot sticks on boot animation, so if not starting after 3 or 4 minutes power off the watch and reboot, after another 5 to 10 minutes you should see 'android is starting'
Nav Bar is by default on permanently, to make this and notification bar 'hide' (fully Immersive) I used this method.
1. install on pc ADB (Guide below)
2. Enable developer options and USB debugging on watch.
3. connect watch (switched on)
4. Open ADB on pc.
5. Type: adb devices (click enter)
(should see you device is connected)
6. Then type: adb shell - (click enter)
7. Then type this line:
settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
Now the navigation bar will pop up when you pull down or up slightly on the screen and will auto hide after a couple of seconds.
As for sensors I don't think any are working.
I have included 3 launchers on this ROM, so make your choice!
Please, please, please DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS if you don't know how to revert back to stock rom. I bear no responsibility for broken toys!
Guys, who already have a scatter file for this watch, i really want to make a backup of current ROM before checking for any new updates (which is quite good version from January and there's nowhere on Internet any firmware files for this watch, so saving and sharing ROM is important). If i manage to download ROM i will post it on Google drive.
I wanted to force watch go into it's own recovery but my ADB installation don't see this watch connected - there's a primitive subsystem on watch beside Android OS, it can be seen when you turn Android OS "power off" and connect USB for charging - it will show the battery, i'm puzzled how to enter into any settings of that subsystem.
The stock firmware is on the Microwear Website.

Yeah, i noticed only now, strangely but i remember that a month ago there was nothing about H5 model on their site when i searched…maybe because they just released it.
Also the firmware have the same scatter file - the first one which i found myself for some cheap smartphone on 6737 chip, as i remember i found it on reddit.
As i seen no updates of firmware for now.

No updates as yet. I have ported an AOSP version, pretty much stock Android to the H5, it is basic, but I like the 'stock experience' on a square watch. Not got the sensors set up, but not really bothered about how many steps I have done on any given day or my heart rate for that matter.
Also if you want fancy clockskins then Eric's launcher works just fine on it.

As i understand correctly - here they simulated or just copied clock skins from Apple watch?
Where to find Eric launcher?
For everyone else i will write again link to the firmware from Microwear site here – https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WaktAl-cjCTE1l0jffA7BnevzESdlCwc?usp=sharing
because chinese support is very short in time and can vanish with website very easily (for example to find an older firmwares to my Onyx Boox ereader i used "webarchive" service, thanks gods we have it - only from this saved archived copies of pages i found the sharing links to the older firmwares, still i cannot find the first version of RemixOS release for KitKat-if anyone have the alpha - please message me)
