Xposed Module Recommendations for S7 Edge - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Quick question for everyone that has installed xposed on their s7 edge - I'm looking for recommendations on modules to use...
I'm coming from a Sony Z3 compact so not sure if there are any must-have modules that people typically use for Samsung...
1. Anyone try Gravitybox on S7 Edge yet? Or should I stick to the one provided by Wanam
2. Any other recommendations for modules?
Thanks in advance!

I found "XTouchWiz" to be the most useful if you haven't tried it yet

Thanks for all the info - do you have a short list of the tweaks in gravitybox that doesn't work?

Reasonably long list incoming;
CrappaLinks - Fixes link clicking
Disable Instagram Double Tap - what it says on the tin
GravityBox - Needs no description
MinMinGuard - Ad blocker
NoSafeVolumeWarning - Doesn't appear to work
RootCloak - Again, what it says on the tin
Swiftkey Goodness on More Fields - more swiftkey predictions
XInsta - Download IG photos
Xposed Additions - Reprogram buttons - Very useful, I use double click power to toggle my bedroom lights
YouTube AdAway - Guess
Youtube Background Playback - Great tool
Zoom For Instagram - Again pretty self explanatory.

After putting in gravitybox (and enabling a few tweaks - including updating the long press behavior of the back button) - I noticed that vibrate for my capacitive buttons have stopped working (even though it is enabled in the settings).
I also noticed that when using gravitybox, I ended up seeing 2 "PM"s appended to the end of my time, I had to manually hide it in.
Can any one confirm similar findings?
FYI - I do have xtouchwiz and gravitybox enabled at the same time....

Gravitybox puts its own pm and touchwiz puts the other pm, you have to disable one of them.
I remember having a rom with a built in center clock, then enabling another center clock with gravitybox... guess how many clocks i had?

silly me..
That being said - does anyone know of a good module to disable the led notification after a certain time?

What app have you withelisted because i have sleep of death with powernap on!

I just need to ask. Now I'm on EchoeRom v4, on previous versions of this ROM when I've installed Xposed from time to time phone just reboot even when it was laying on the desk. It was because of the Xposed or not? Anyone noticed it? By the way: what ROM are you using?

[HOW TO] Use NFC to unlock your Note II directly into your favorite app

This quick tutorial will allow you to use an NFC tag to wake up your phone and launch directly into your favorite application. It will also bypass any PIN/pattern/password you have configured.
I've been trying to do this for a while and have been hunting down information/tools in XDA to try to unlock my pattern protected Note 2 and directly launch my remote app (Unified Remote) when I touch the NFC tag on the living room coffee table. The biggest challenge was to find a NFC screen-off mod that worked for the Note 2 (most were for the S3).
Tools:
Tasker (important: make sure you update to the latest version)
NFC Task Launcher
Writable NFC tags
Secure Settings (be sure to enable Device Admin)
NFC Screen Off Mod (attached), got it from here. Confirmed working for stock LJ1 and LJ3 odex rooted. WARNING: This mod might work on stock 4.1.2 but will cause annoying popups saying 'NFC Service has been stopped'.
Root (but I'm guessing if you have any of the above you're already rooted)
(optional but recommended) Titanium Backup
(optional) Unified Remote
1. Use TB to make a backup of your NFC Service apk (in case you get issues after flashing the modded one)
2. Flash the attached NFC Screen Off Mod using CMW
3. Create a task (Wake) in Tasker with the following actions:
EDIT: Make sure Tasker has 'enabled external access' option switched on in settings (Thanks SenK9)
Plugins -> Secure Settings -> Wake Device -> Screen and Keyboard lights on (30 sec or whatever you want)
Plugins -> Secure Settings -> Keyguard -> Off (this will also disable any PIN/pattern/password you have)
(optional) Misc -> Say -> "Device is awake" (or whatever you want it to say)

}
4. Prepare a writeable tag in NFC Task Launcher with the following actions:
Tasker -> Tasker Task -> Wake (or the name of your task)
(optional) Launch application -> Unified Remote (can also place this in your Task but I prefer to keep them separate since I use my task for other things as well)
[Add whatever you want to do here (launch app, play music, etc..)]
Note: Keyguard disable didn't work for me at first, so you may need to reboot your phone.
That's it! Hope this helped someone
Let me know if this works for you and if you have any recommendations or improvements I'd be happy to update the post with your suggestions.
Good work gabster21! Work well for me on stock LJ3. Followed your instructions and it worked without problem. Much better than the Samsung TecTiles app that I've been using.
Glad to hear it worked!
On a similar note I just finished automating my phone to start my favorite playlist on my HTPC using NFC with the screen off. It involves EventGhost (with several plugins) and sending an http get command from Tasker. I can post a tutorial on that if people are interested.
Can confirm that this mod works on N7105 (deodex LJ4), thanks!
Any idea why step 3 above only unlocks the screen temporarily before it locks again? I'm using standard pattern lock.

Strange.. Keyguard Unlock didn't work for me at first either but a reboot fixed the issue. Try adding something to the task (like some sound) for debugging to see if the task is executing properly.
I personally use tasker without nfc. (probably will try nfc soon) For instance, when I get in my car and plug my phone in my aux, the phone automatically opens up Poweramp. (power amp has an option to continue playing on aux insert but not just opening the program.) Also when poweramp is running I have it disable my pattern lock.
Hey guys, just getting into some of this stuff, particularly with tasker.
Boodies, can someone conceivably set up the tasker so that the NFC tag is on the back of the cardock for my Note II and when my phone comes into contact it arms GPS and pops up poweramp as part of the same action?

You would to have 'Secure Setfings' installed (with Helper) need to setups a task with these actions:
-> Plugins -> Secure Settings -> GPS -> ON
-> App -> Launch -> Poweramp
Then call this task from NFC task launcher programmed in a tag

CM based ROM's minor bugs fixes

Someone has found the solution to fix low in-call volume directly in AudioRouter sources of android. Is doing exactly what I was doing in my app, but is doing this in telephony source triggered by muteChange, so no need for an external workaround app.
I am glad to have this bug fixed by source and I am glad I had a contribution to this.
For those who used my app for low in-call bug fix: WHEN the ROM that you use will get an update to a low in-call volume bug fixed by source, please disable low-incall fix in CMUtility.
Here is the fix in sources: https://github.com/TeamCanjica/andr...mmit/fdf281fdabe5e7517eb96f2faf159bbcc74ae4a6
Because I love CM based ROM's I have created this app for some fixes/utilities.
So.
1. LOW IN-CALL VOLUME with effect when switching to/from speakerphone)
I know that when answer the call you can press VOL- then VOL+ to increase that low volume. But is not simple to do this at every call start. So I've made an app to do this automatically for you.
ATENTION!
- You don't see an icon for this app in your launcher app drawer. This is a service that start at boot and do his work without interacting any way with you.
- This app don't help you with WIFI bug and don't switch you automatically on 2G/3G when you need. If you need this features please install only CMUtility application (down at 3)
- INSTALLATION: Is recomended to copy this app in /system/app and set permissions rw-r--r-- then reboot.
I did this for the many who have asked
[/COLOR]
You can find this app in attach as onlyincallfix.apk.
2. ALL in ONE - CMUtility
We have a new application for all my fixes/utilities !
This app have 3 configurable functions for now:
a. In-Call low volume fix done even when switch to/from speakerphone! When answering a call or switch to/from speakerphone this service will automatically change in-call volume to MIN and back to MAX with 100ms delay.
So no more in-call volume bug on CM based ROM's!
For those who used my app for low in-call bug fix: WHEN the ROM that you use will get an update to a low in-call volume bug fixed by source, please disable low-incall fix in it.
b. WIFI start fail fix by connecting/disconnecting only with a single notification touch. In this mode WIFI never turn OFF and never fail start!
So no more WIFI start bug on CM based ROM's!
c. Automatically switch to 2G/3G only when needed.
You can configure that this service automatically switch network mode to 3G only or 3G preferred when data switched ON, and go to 2G when data is switched OFF or WIFI is connected (20 seconds delay). This is for battery economy.
So you never drain your battery using 3G if you don't need. I take care of this.
Features are configurable if you open this app form app drawer. Notification click will only connect/disconnect wifi network.
IMPORTANT! If you have installed onlyincallfix.apk please uninstall it! Just because that application is part of CMUtility job. You don't need two applications with same function. Or disable In-call Fix from CMUtility accessing it from app drawer.
You can find this app in attach.

Using my WiFi fix app? Battery drain is not from my app. This app do nothing else than executing connect/disconnect commands. This battery drain when using WiFi is normal on CM roms. I don't understand why. We hope the devs will do something for this.

And if your question is about battery drain, this is not a place for it. Use MoKee discussion thread.

Sony Bloatware

I was really excited to get my first every unlocked smartphone. I hate all the bloat Verizon and AT&T and everyone else throws on phones. So when I turned my brand spanking new Z3C on and looked in the app drawer..... Well, let's just say what little youthful innocence I had left quickly died haha. Anyway, is there any way to get rid of this damn Sony bloat WITHOUT root or unlocking the BL? I used to do all that stuff back in the day, and I still root occasionally, but I prefer stock these days. What really drives me crazy is the 'What's new' app that is along side the Google Now icon when you swipe up from the home nav button. Also, that Small Apps BS in multitasking. There is no way to disable the framework and whatnot. Any suggestions? Or am I just gonna have to root?

Subscribing to this thread. Hehe.
While the "What's New" thing drives me nuts (thanks for the link on how to disable it!), I actually like small apps. I don't use them often, but it's a nice little utility feature that can also tie in with other "small" apps from the play store as well as widgets. Plus, it's about the closest you can get to true "multitasking" on Android at this point.
Out of curiosity, why do you want to remove small apps?

Fair enough, I suppose. Before you decide that it's useless though, I'd suggest taking a quick look at the "Small Apps" on the Play store. "Small Apps" actually encompasses a lot more than the limited number that come on your phone. There are a bunch of others, developed not just by Sony but also third parties (it's an open API). Also, you can turn just about any widget into a small app.
On the play store, just search for "Small App" or "Sony Small App".

Sorry, I mixed up What's New with the bundled Sony apps. ( Excuse - I'm still slowly exploring the bundled apps )
Hi everybody. I'm a bit confused, please help me to understand what to do.
I'm finding all around the web, news just on how to block bloatwares on Z3 without root. What about removing them with root access? Am I missing something? Is it so easy that it's stupid to talk about it? Well, it looks I'm stupid enough to not understand how to do it.
I'm running Lollipop 5.1.1 on Z3 and I really would like to remove What's New and Co. How to do it?

Not the simplest way (step by step instructions, about <2h time) but the cleanest:
You will need a recovery mode (simple install when rooted) and an sd card
For that will need flashtool (which requires java installed!) and a few other small apps.
Moly82 made a debloating script
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...unctioning-t3076161/post59977760#post59977760
I use Moly82's excellent debloated 5.1.1 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...ted-xposed-t3164221/post62015403#post62015403
Very close to stock but with 0% bloat. All the filthy Sony apps are backed up and can be reinstalled right from the backup folder.
Some nice extras preinstalled like nova launcher and es file explorer (although i prefer the paid app solid explorer)
Blur and transparent pulldown menu similar to ios style can be activated with a few clicks (blur ui, xposed framework)
To root without screwing up your bootloader and your DRM keys you can use this method which includes backing up the cameras DRM keys.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
just follow from #1 to #26
at #26, get the rom you want to install (like Moly82's debloat) and skip to #33 then go on from there
#36 and #37 are for old recovery by NUT, simply ignore
you can finish at #40, and reboot

[ROOT] Notifications Problem Workaround

So I know I'm not the only one having problems with notifications. The issues I have found with every firmware up to 137 are:
1. Regardless of Doze settings, enters IDLE in five minutes.
2. Sometimes, regardless of Doze settings, never gets out of IDLE into IDLE_MAINTENANCE
So to work around these issues, the only way to do it is to disable Doze. Disabling Doze will potentially cost you battery life, but you will get notifications from email client and any other software, as if it were Lollipop.
So what's a good way to do this easily? Tasker is the best answer I've come up with.
Here are the instructions which worked for me. This has solved all the notification issues I have had, but it's a little bit of a pain.
1. Make sure your phone is rooted. Purchase and install Tasker.
2. Create a task. Action category is Code-> Run Shell. Command is -- dumpsys deviceidle disable --. Check Use Root. Then click the lower right hand corner to make an icon, and go back to Tasks menu. Long press the task you made to highlight it, then choose the menu in the upper right and choose export. Export it 'As App' (it may prompt you to install something)
Run this app every time you start up your phone, or set it to auto run in the app settings. Make sure it has root permission. If you did this correctly, it will disable doze until the phone reboots, and Doze won't interfere with notifications anymore.
Hopefully all these issues get fixed soon!

Is greenify working ok without xposed?
sure thing, xposed only enables some extra functions. been using greenify without xposed for a long time now
I have to hand it to you. This worked. I was skeptical, but as soon as I disabled doze using this method, all of my notifications became instant. Absolutely no delay. It's a shame to have to give up doze to get notifications to work correctly, but it makes the phone 100% more usable. Thanks, man. This thread hasn't had anywhere near enough attention.
Making apps system apps, whitelisting, performance mode, locking apps in memory, and turning off doze for individual apps (not to mention tweaking the doze settings) - None of that worked. Doze is seriously broken on this phone. None of my other phones on 6.0 have this issue. Thanks for figuring this out. I was going to park the phone until an ASOP or Cyanogenmod ROM came out.

You can check using adb.
I don't have the phone now (it's bricked) so I'm sorry to say I can't be sure the command is right, but I think you should see something like disabled if you run
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle
Then you will know that it worked.

I spend a LOT of time figuring it out, but it was definitely Doze.
The dead giveaway is that Hangouts (high priority message so Doze doesn't matter) worked fine.
I'm happy it works for you. Let's hope Huawei fixes this. Most Chinese users don't really care about Google Cloud Messaging and get their notifications through other services which Doze doesn't affect, so I'm thinking they're not likely to fix it, but we'll see.
Anyone that disabled doze can check how big of an impact it is on battery life?
Also anyway to fix without root?
I solve this issue by giving priority to the important apps notification and all warking perfect now

This does indeed work. Have a look at this thread as well.

I wonder if there is some parameter in an apk or in the kernel I can edit so when you flash a ROM doze is disabled by default.
Thanks buddy for that doze thread!
I disabled hangouts and the battery life got much much better
Other notifications I have set via the settings--->notification panel---->notification manager and set according to the app use

No difference at all for me. Standby time is just as good. Huawei's own "Doze" still works if you want it to, also.

Yes you can run that command with ADB without root and it will work just as well. Just be sure to have USB debugging enabled in developer options. The part about root is so that you can use Tasker to automate the process instead.

[Guide] [Root] Get rid of navbar without any drawbacks (no xposed / substratum)

As we all know, it's not possible to remove the 5t navbar by doing a build.prop edit.
This is necessary when switching to gesture based navigation (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation)
Pros of gesture navigation: It gives back precious screen estate, prevents burn in and keeps me from tapping the home key instead of 'space' when typing
For more information: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/themes/setup-navbar-clean-t3708211
The substratum theme disabling the navbar is not an option for me (it breaks the restart menu) and neither is xposed (tripping safety net).
Listen me out: xposed is temporary, it will be removed later on!
So here it goes:
Additional step: idk if this is necessary, I did it and it worked:
Download a build.prop editor and modify this line "#qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"
Don't forget to remove the hashtag, and change 0 into 1
1) Install magisk and download systemless xposed throught magisk. (sdk 25, of course)
2) Don't forget to install xposed installer.apk
3) Reboot
4) Download gravity box nougat through the xposed installer app, enable it.
5) Open gravity box, In 'navigation bar tweaks' turn on the master switch and then turn 'enable navigation bar' off.
Optional: go to media settings and force media volume, this always pisses me off...
6) Reboot
7) Go to settings, buttons, and now a setting to disable the navigation bar magically appeared! Turn it off. IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE SCREENSHOT ATTACHED
8) Have some fun playing with the "capacitive keys backlight" option even though your 5t doesn't have any.
9) Disable xposed framework in magisk
10) Reboot, the navbar should be gone (if not, tell me, there is an additional step that might be necessary, but i prefer to don't have people messing with their build.prop) then check safety net, and install swipe navigation (can be tricky without navbar ). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation
Let me know if it works!

Yeah, it was from the begining. Was there an other one while the GravityBox was installed and after uninstalling it the option to turn on/off the navigation bar also vanished? I tested it a couple of times on and off and didn't even notice it had gone when I took the screenshot.
I guess I would have to install xposed/GravityBox again to get the navigation bar back if for some reason I wanted it?

With gravity box go to navigation bar tweaks, turn master switch on and go all the way to the bottom to adjust height
Works like a charm, but if you disable Xposed framework afterwards, the hight will be 100% again...

Nope, it's not that setting.
Once you disable the navbar in gravitybox the 'buttons settings menu' changes to the Oneplus 5 one, very funny.
I should've taken a screenshot of it.
If this doesn't work for you, then download a build.prop editor and modify this line "#qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"
Don't forget to remove the hashtag, and change 0 in 1
After doing this, follow the guide again, then the OP5 settings should appear in settings => buttons
