Access Paypal with fingerprint - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi, anyone managed to get this working on there S7 edge ?
Paypal say this Here’s how to add your PayPal account to your Samsung Account Manager and connect your fingerprint to your PayPal app:
1.Tap the Menu button on your phone.
2.Tap Settings and then tap Accounts.
3.Tap Add account (you may have to scroll down to see this option).
4.Tap Add your PayPal account.
5.Enter the email address and password associated with your PayPal account, and then tap Link My PayPal Account.
Next, you’ll install the FIDO protocol, which enables you to use the fingerprint feature:
1.Tap Install.
2.Tap OK.
3.Tap Install.
4.Tap Link.
5.Link your fingerprint to PayPal by swiping your finger.
6.Tap Ok and PayPal will now appear under “My accounts.”
However I can't add paypal to my Samsung Account Manager as it does not appear in the list to select!
I have a "link your fingerprint" within the app itself but it doesn't want to work that way either! I keep getting "we can't confirm your fingerprint"
I don't know anything about the "fido" protocol but that appears to be already running on the phone in general.
I've told paypal all of this and there unhelpful response was :-When I have looked into this for you it is a common fault with certain Samsung models and not an app fault.
I would contact your phones technical help and seek advice as I have checked your PayPal account and all is well.
I am glad to resolve your query.
That last line creased me up!

PayPal needs to fix it. It's their issue.

Paypal have to update the app so it works with fingerprints on S7 & S7 Edge. If you install latest version of paypal & try to use fingerprint authentication it just errors out.

Yea was the same on my s5 worked at first then next time I used it it couldn't do it at this time lol
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

I'm also to unable the fingerprint in Paypal.
I think I can live without it for now, I'm just gonna wait until Paypal's next update

Glad it isn't just me. Lol worked on my LG V10 but not my S7E

If you read the comments in the Play Store, you'll see that everyone with a Galaxy S7 Edge (including myself) has the same problem. Hopefully they'll fix it in the next update.

Latest update to the app removes the fingerprint option altogether now

I am having this exact same problem on my Note 7 with Android 6.0.1. Obviously it is a PayPal fault in their app, but the ... at support tell me to talk to my phone maker! What a lame answer!? What an insult it is to get such a stupid answer from ill-mannered and non-professional "support" people!
They might feel bad about these comments, SO BE IT, they deserve nothing less.
It has been 4 days now and I get the run-around by 4 different support non-professionals "who are happy to help me" but obviously know about the app as much as I know Chinese, well not even so since I can at least say Nihau (Hi).
Believe me, as soon as I find a service that offers what PayPal offers, I will be on my way. Yes they will lose a customer with orders in excess of $15k per year!
Hold on to your mobiles, change PayPal.
OH, and it has been over 7 months now since people reported this issue with no apparent care by PayPal! No updates or anything to solve this shortfall of theirs. This is the kind of service PayPal has grown into, another big s&*%$y conglomerate!

Don't know what you all talking about, but I've fingerprint-support on my S7Edge!

Fingerprint working on PayPal here latest version. Try wiping data and re install

[Q] Screen lock with password protect

I read posts concerning screen lock and I'm having a similar problem, but it is compounded by an Enterprise email that forces password protect. Now, not only does the screen lock while on a call, but also requires the entry of a password to re-access the phone. I must have the account set up for work.
Also, I cannot seem to find a setting where I can even change the password that was chosen when setting up the email account. I would have made it a little simpler if I'd known the issues I would be experiencing.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. My phone is still un-rooted.
If you want serious corporate email capabilities, look no further than Touchdown. It's $20 on the Market, but well worth it. The built-in email/calendar functionality is a joke in comparison. Some will say its interface leaves something to be desired, but I personally have zero issues with it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Thanks for the response
I'll check out Touchdown.
I did make a bit of progress. I reloaded my corporate email and despite being told I needed a 8 digit password, I entered one letter and it still worked. That makes unlocking the phone a lot easier. I will try it again later leaving it blank and see what happens.
I spoke with the IT guy at work and I thought it was a requirement placed on their end, but it is not... according to him.
Thanks again for the response.

Update- Can't Sync with Samsung Account/Incorrect Password/Account already exists

Everyone who's eager for the 3.2 release tried updating their tablet using the built in option however came across various issues.
I tried signing in but kept getting the same "wrong password" error and then even tried creating a new account using a different email and was unable to.
When I called Samsung the only thing the tech advised me to do was to perform a factory reset which I'm sure everyone knows is most electronic companies "cure for all things" and I hate performing it.
I refused to go this route and stood my ground with the tech. The only resolution he provided was for a hard reset but I refused. If a website is telling me that the password is incorrect surely there must be a way to reset it!
He kept putting me on hold but finally provided me with this website which should solve any and all "wrong password" issues
http://www.samsungdive.com
If you go there and perform a password reset or create a new account the account should allow you to sync.
Once on the website click on Log In and it will provide with options to reset or create a new account!
Good luck guys and if this works for you please "thank"
I was able to use this website to fix the samsung account on my SGT. It still says "sync is off" in the account tab for my samsung account, but maybe thats by design? Either way thanks for the site
You need to exit out of that and go into apps. Hit Samsung apps and go through that apps setup process. Then you should be able to do your sync through the samsung sync sign in.
This does seems to work. I confirmed it.
I also received the same link in an email a few days ago - but I guess their website was not working, because it still failed for me. I responded to that email and **** all over Samsung's ****ty support. I guessed they somehow listenend.
Anyway - this is Working!!!!. Login to this website, reset your samsung.com account's password. It will send you an email, confirm that and change your new password. Then use these exact credentials to logon on the GT 10.1. But First, clear the cache of Samsung Apps and Samsung Account.
guys, this is NOT Samsung apps (as stated in the previous two posts!!!!!!) you need to login to, but login by creating another Samsung account under settings, accounts...., with those credentials.
Thanks, got it working. I didn't even know we had to put our Samsung account on to the tablet.
Didn't workm Screw Samsung
Alas none of these worked for me. I even closed the samsung account and started a new one and this thing did not work . Just the same ... I won't ever purchase a samsung mobile device after this... I mean i got burned with the galaxy tab 7 taking so long to get updated then it was the galaxy S phones now this... I am done..... Sorry Samsung you just lost a customer. These quirks are unacceptable esepcially seeing how much we pay for these devices.... Straight to Ebay this tablet is going. I will just hold off until sometime after Christmas... by then a better tablet by a better company that cares about its US Customers will surface. So if anyone wants to buy a 32GB Metallc Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the book case and the USB dongle. Hit me up. Samsung I am done.!!!!
Nice Tablet but crummy support and in this day and age to have such a stupid quirk with a website....
im sorry your having those issues dude, mine is running perfectly and today miraculously it took my samsung accounta nd logged me in after having made so many unsuccessful attempts.
I don't have this elusive "Samsung Apps", I'm rooted can I download it somewhere? Thanks.

My Tab's Samsung Account isn't sync'd, and I have never signed into Samsung Apps and have downloaded a few things. I didn't even know you were required to, because I never did.
I checked for updates and it says there isn't one available, but am wondering if it is working correctly or not.
I have the Samsung Apps app and it works, but under accounts it shows that Samsung account is not syncing and no option to enable sync. I went to Samsungdive.com and I was able to log into my account there. There are no settings in the samsung apps app.
So what is the deal with samsung sync? Are you instructions for getting that working? I am a bit confused. Thanks
So should this Samsung account thing be syncing? Mine isn't and i even tried the factory reset, still says "Sync is OFF" Anyone got any help.
I recently changed my password for my samsung account now i cant even connect to samsung account keep getting wrong password very very frustrating!
I tried going to samsungdive, it won't even recognize my samsung account. i cant make a new one with any of the 3 emails I have, I cant sign in with any of them either, only on samsung.com
I tried recovering a password and it even says my email doesn't exist in their system....garbage. then I try to make a new account and it says to enter a valid email.... what the phuckkkkkkkkkkkk
I really don't understand this samsung account sync, I created an account when I first started tab, able to login to samsungdive.com but my tab shows that it is not syncing in the accounts/sync options.
Every few times at startup I get a FC with the samsung account.
WTF
This sucks.
I'm guessing what I'm about to detail is the same as everyone else:
1: On first boot of my pre-touchwiz GT10.1, I created some sort of Samsung account.
2: Every boot since then prompted me with two force close messages, both being some sort of Samsung process, blah, blah, blah.
3: Today, I get the touchwiz update, it installs.
4: I can log into Samsung Dive website with my established Samsung account no problem, and it knows I have a GT10.1. But it can't do anything with it, saying I have to enable Google Location Services, and Remote Control.
5. I go into settings on the GT10.1, Google Location Services is already enabled, Remote Control is not. I attempt to enable it, but get a prompt for a password with a blank ID. It will not take my KNOWN Samsung Account password. I can't delete it and create a new one without doing a factory reset.
Is there a solution to this pile of horsecrap yet??
I also can't login when attempting to update. I don't have an account specifically on my GT for samsung, but did register on line when I purchased it. Is this a common problem? Perhaps we were supposed to create the samsung account using the accounts option in settings.
BTW, my error is incorrect password even though I can login to the website. I can see my registration info

I have similar problem; I set up and registered my 10.1 and can access it at Samsung.com "My Account". I was told to set up recovery etc at samsungdive.com and could not sign in and was told that I had to create a new account there using a different email (Dumb), I did and can sign in but can't do anything else? I am waiting for an answer from tech via email. Even on the samsungdive page it says one account works for all?
Also on 10.1 under Settings:Location & security:find my mobile;remote controls if I check that box it has my correct account email but won't accept my password? This was when I first called tech and they told me to use samsung dive. Somewhere Samsung doesn't have their act together.
(oops, redundant info).

Has anyone received their $25 Google play credit yet?

I performed all of the steps to register my us wifi 12.2, and went to the website listed on the little slip of paper included with the instruction manual, but I haven't recieved any of my promotional offers yet. Additionally, I sent an email through the samsung site asking for support and haven't heard anything yet. Yes, I did check my spam folder
Has anyone here been able to redeem their $25 google play credit yet? Any of the other freebies?

I have not received anything about my $25 CREDIT. All of the other offers already loaded on the tablet.
Sent from my SM-P900 using xda app-developers app
I got the email. I signed up by going to the preloaded Internet browser the homepage is the perks page. Through that page they send you to the samsung app store I don't remember anything after that.

Got my $25 credit instantly. BTW, thanks to the OP- you just saved me $25! I didn't even know about this, I was all set to just ignore most of the Samsung Apps on the tablet until I read this thread.
All I did was sign in to Samsung Apps, clicked the link to promotions- that sent the email with the $25 Play Store redemption code.
Pasted code in "redeem" in PlayStore and *poof* instant $25 credit.
Got mine as well, just not my Evernote Premium. Seems to have conflicting information about the free year but I suspect that as an existing free user I'm SOL.
Got mines instantly by email.
Yeah after further investigation, it appears that regardless of what you do on the website with regards to registering the device, you need to open and log into the Samsung apps application on the device to trigger the perks email.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I received mine before I finished setting up my device....almost instantly.
Registering ad receiving the Perks for my 2014 Note 10.1 was more of a process than my Note Pro 12. Once I opened Samsung Hub n the Pro 12, Instantly got an email with all the perks, which included a redemption code for $25 Play. The Note 10 gave me an extra $50 credit at Samsung Hub and Samsung Apps, which I think spending an additional $250 for the Pro 12 should have entitled me to the same. The key to perks is to make SUREto register for "Samsung Account", and check the email with such account. If you don't create the Samsung Account and login from Pro 12 you WILL NOT get the perks NOR the free premium Wacom Office Suite that automatically downloads as an update once registered. Hope this helps!
Can you explain? Which ap do you run to trigger the perks email ? If a browser which browser (I hope not chrome because I already reset chrome's bookmarks) ?

My theory would be for those who already owned a Samsung device and had a Samsung account, during setup you are prompted to create or sign in to your existing Samsung account. When I signed into my existing samsung account and Google account and when everything began syncing during first time setup I had a email in my email account associated with Samsung. As a matter of fact I do recall surfing the net while updates were being applied to pre installed apps via the built in samsung browser and it took me to Samsung's website as though it was already bookmarked in the app. I can't quote the actual verbiage on the page, but it eluded to a "thank you for registering your device". I really didn't pay attention to it, although I did receive my perks email shortly thereafter.
I believe this is where it auto registers your device with no effort on your part. Being that the browser is connected to your Samsung account.
Never the less, I know for a fact I didn't purposely register my device like the standard way of inputting serial numbers etc., thus adding a device to your Samsung account.
On a side note....is it normal that you can't stack the dropbox 50gb promo on top of an already existing 50gb promo? I had purchased a Samsung device last year, can't recall if it was the note 3 or 10.1-2014, and I received 50gb. However it didn't add the note pro 50gb promo when I setup my dropbox account on the note pro. Now when I created a new dropbox account and linked it to the note pro I received the 50gb. Now I have 2 separate dropbox accounts with 50gb.

Just open-up "Samsung Apps" from new device then Menu/Settings/Account and make sure it shows your email. Then you should be able to open your Gmail with the Gmail app and look in "Promotions" folder and there should be a "Thanks For Registering" from Samsung. They only register and send perks to Google Mail addresses (@Gmail).

no, not yet
Ive never gotten any of the perks (Dropbox, Play credit) and ive bought a bunch of the devices offering that. ill try again, but never really cared to bother past trying once.
Gmail filtered my "gift" email into the 'Promotions' tab that gmail has (if you allow it to). In case anyone else lost theirs here.
My husband's email got sent to spam, so check there if you can't find it. Mine went to my inbox. Strange.

Kindle for Samsung book deals - sign-up problem?

Hi,
I wanted to try the Kindle for Samsung app on my Galaxy S7 edge through the Samsung Apps store, especially the "one book per month free" option.
But upon clicking "Sign in" I get the popup that I already have a Samsung account within the account manager and it won't let me login - it does not show the login form at all. I guess it wants to create a new account and then fails. See attached screenshot.
I have already removed the samsung account and then tried to login via the Kindle app. Upon clicking the sign in button, the login form shows up, then I have entered the credentials and got sent back to the "sign in" page and afterwards the same error message as in the screenshot occurs... haha
does this work for you?

Same problem here ...
thanks for the info, which country are you from? i wanted to contact amazon support (the email listed in the app), they redirected me to Amazon Germany (as this is my home market place) and they have no clue and redirected me to US support again. US support said i should contact them via chat and now the guy in the chat says I should contact Germany again *lol* and the German chat support just told me now I should contact Samsung... haha, reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI5kwSap9Ug
Exactly the same question
I have met the same problem and already got connection with Samsung HK. The customer service staff told me that they met the same problem as well and they would report this to Samsung. He also advised me to wait several weeks for the update of the kindle for Samsung...
Solution!
This worked for me, from another website: I had the same problem. The fix is pretty simple, since you have an S7 Edge I'll assume you have Android Marshmallow 6.0? Just do the following Go to Settings 》Applivations 》 Application Manager 》 Select Kindle 》Now here you will find "Permissions" click on that. 》 Grant all 3 permissions I.e Contact, Storage and Telephone . Now go to your Kindle by Samsung and click Samsung Book Deals and Voila!
thanks very much, that worked! strange that this is disabled by default, guess they didn't bother to update the app for android 6 yet
Thank you. Didn't think of looking there and was getting irritated.

Strange it is that the kindle for SAMSUNG is not set the permissions as default in A SAMSUNG phone and lacks the notification Of permission allow
Thanks for the tip ...
But you don't have to switch all permissions.
For me it works when grant permissions to contacts. Storage and telephone is still disabled.
Thank you, this worked for me too.

How to stop ALL Play Store Purchases?

I got my girlfriend an S7 Edge on my Sprint account recently. A few days later, I noticed my Sprint bill was inflating due to in-app purchases ("gold bars" for $1.07 each on some stupid game, dozens of them). So of course I used the Sprint website to disable charges to the acct.
Now I've just become aware that a Netflix charge put her account negative. I looked at her account and sure enough, she's been charging the same in-app purchases to her own debit card. It's frustrating because money is tight.
Anyway, counseling aside... She has her own Gmail/Google account, so short of changing her Gmail password & using the Google Play password requirement for all purchases (nothing to stop her from resetting her Gmail password) or putting her phone on my Google account, how can I use some Sprint or 3rd party app to prevent an *adult* from making any Google-related purchases, even with her own debit card & Google account? Is this possible?
Thanks.

Such as? Drastic is not beyond my willingness. I was hoping Sprint or some 3rd party had an app designed for this purpose. Hard to stop an "adult" with her own debit card from entering CC info into her phone, ya know?

There is no way, otherwise I could stop you from buying things. Talk to her, tell her it's real money and that it adds up.

Solution
Hahaha. Get her a rooted phone and a cracked game and the stuff is free.
Dennis, the talk has been had, thrice, but she has an addictive personality, & not just for in-app purchases unfortunately. There is a much larger over-arching issue at play obviously, but I need to focus on just this one facet of it, for now. There has GOT to be a way to pull this off.
Come on guys... CaffeiNater: what was the drastic measure you alluded to?
Believe me Darth... I wish. Our S7's are the 1st phones I haven't rooted right out of the box, & we all know why. Careful with that kinda comment for the mod's sake though (he was clearly kidding mods).
Please brothers & sisters. I am officially desperate. Letting her bank account stay in the red has provided a temporary respit for now, but she gets paid Wednesday, & I have to go out of town to Houston on Monday for work all week.... Anyone? ANYTHING? AT ALL?
Sent from my SM-G935P using XDA-Developers mobile app
There is no way, short of taking away her phone. Anything you do can be undone (cancel her debit card, she gets a new one; delete her google account and make her use yours, she can get a new account; change her password, same thing new account) sorry mate but either she learns or she doesn't.
The drastic measures I'd take are a fourth talk along the lines of "I'm not supporting you buying useless crap on the Internet. You get $X to spend on luxury items a month (same as me) so use it as you want, the rest of OUR money is used for bills and food. If you don't like it, pack your stuff." That kind of talk is hard, and it sucks, but either you won't have to worry about her spending all the money, or she will be a better person learning not to buy random crap in apps.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
You should be able to go into your sprint account and block 3rd party charges, that would keep her from charging to the account. As far as her isn't her debit card, I can't think of a way other than maybe creating a "game" account and put so much per month, once it's gone is gone till next month

Here's what I ended up doing:
I took her phone (not covertly, I bought her the phone and I pay for the service) and I changed the password on her gmail account. I also changed the backup email account and backup text phone reset number to my own. Then I went into every single app on the phone that is linked to her Gmail account (OTHER THAN THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE) and entered the new PW, so that she will never be prompted for it, and have legit reason to ask me what it is.
The reset was psychological. Luckily she is extremely tech-naive. I told her what I had done, but then I also told her the *IF* she ever tried to reset the PW on her gmail account, OR link her phone to a new gmail account, that I would receive a text notification, and that all call/text/data service on her phone would immediately be disabled, other than emergency calls, and calls/texts to me. So far, this seems to have worked.
Am I a jerk?

That seems like the best possible technological solution. You're not a jerk imo. The jerk move would be to enable her out of control behavior to continue.
(And sorry for the slow reply, but the drastic move I mentioned would be to end the relationship. Money issues such as this one are the reason many, many relationships end. Most problems tend not to go away on their own. Knowing that, think about whether it's better that things end when you're dating vs when there would be kids, divorce lawyers, etc involved. Sorry to get all negative. But the counseling that you mentioned initially would be a really good idea if you're envisioning a future together.)
Old fashion azz kicking would work
