[SOLVED] Is Xposed v80+ compatible with LG G2 smart cover and weather widget? (Yes) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an AT&T LG G2 D800 running Lollipop 5.0.2. I managed to root it and install BusyBox and TWRP, and I've made a full backup. Now I'd like to install Xposed so I can get some other apps running that require it.
My concern is that in my research I found out that installing Xposed specifically on LG G2 phones causes "force close" errors because of the G2's smart cover and weather components. Apparently there are ways to disable those components to get Xposed working without the force close errors. But for this particular phone, I need those components enabled and working. Either that or I need seamless alternatives.
So my question is, does the current version of Xposed (v80 at the time of writing) support these troublesome LG components yet? I'd just like an answer to that before I risk it myself.
I'm new here and I can't code, but as thanks for any help I might receive I'm willing to do a nice write-up on the entire process for this specific phone from root to TWRP to Xposed. No such thing exists as far as I can tell. I've just been finding all the info I need up to this point scattered around the net, and it would be nice to have it all in one place.
Much obliged.

P.S. Mods: I posted this same thread over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/help/help-lg-g2-d800-lollipop-5-0-2-xposed-t3340431
But it's not really AT&T-specific, and it should get more views in this forum, so I'd like to keep it here if you please. The other thread can be deleted it necessary. Thank you!

Maybe I've just been reading old information. That's what I was wondering.
Just to confirm, you're running Lollipop, not Kitkat? And your smart cover/quick cover and weather components still work? Did you run into those force close errors at all? If not, then you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, haha. See here:

As far as I know, these issues should be solved with newer Xposed versions. But as this has only been stated by rovo89 and not confirmed (at least to my knowledge) by any affected user, I still have this in the FAQ.
You can flash Xposed and check if the issue still persist. If yes, reboot back to recovery and flash the uninstaller.zip to uninstall Xposed.

Right on, I'll give it a go and report back. :good:

Sweet, no issues to report orville87. Weather still works, but I can't confirm smart cover works until I get a new case. No bootloops or force close errors, though. :good:

Great Could you report back when you got a new case? Then I will adjust the guide in the official Xposed thread.

I can confirm that the Xposed Framework as of v80 no longer breaks the LG Weather widget or the Smart Cover component on the D800. :good:

An appeal to devs

I love my device (802) but one thing is really bugging me about it in it's present state.......I hate the fact that the navigation buttons take up a large portion of my beautiful screen in most applications
Firstly, I like to keep my phone unrooted so that I can enjoy skygo, meaning custom roms and mods which require root are out of the question for me and, secondly, I have tried the hide navbar mod which is included in the stock Korean rom and I think it is an excellent solution and one which LG has successfully developed and implemented for those lucky few.
There is an app in the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.ppareit.immersivemode which attempts to achieve immersive mode across many kitkat devices enabling the user to enable immersive mode for any selected app just like the implementation on the Korean rom without the necessity for root. This app achieves what I require but, unfortunately, is very buggy.
I would like to appeal to the devs and those many others here with more nouse than me to look at the above playstore apk and also the official LG implementation and see if it may be possible to implement this efficiently on a non-rooted device.
Whilst I am rambling on, could somebody tell me what would happen if I rooted my stock rom, made a small system adjustment then unrooted my device again? Would my system mod still work and would skygo detect my device as not rooted? The reason that I ask this is I wondered if it was impossible to somehow implement the Korean 'hide nav bars' mod on a rooted stock rom, unroot the device and still have this modification working?
Any thoughts on this (and investigation perhaps ) would be very much appreciated.

Why don't you try something like this ??
http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.devadvance.rootcloak
I use it on some other apps and it works for me, and it looks like your app might be also supported. Check in the XDA thread if it is.
If it works for you, use then G2 Tweaksbox for the NavBar customization.

Thanks but skygo doesn't work with this . The checking procedure that it employs seems to be very thorough and, to my knowledge, nobody has ever cracked this properly to work on a rooted or un-supported device. The same being the case when trying to enable hdmi out with it.
I was hoping that there would be some way of implementing hiding of nav bars on a non-rooted device as the play store app that I mentioned in my previous post proves that this can be implemented to quite a large degree, so I thought, if somebody was to work on this device specifically, they may be able to make it bug free.
You could remove the navbar altogether but then you would have to rely 100% on things such as LMT.
For info, I am now very happy. I have installed Cloudystock Rom then unrooted it with superSU pro. To my great surprise, the Rom still works flawlessly and my sky apps do too.
I wasn't aware this was possible. I am now going to work on stock Rom zip with the hide navigation button feature added.

Wait wait wait...Sky Go works when you just unroot... Even on a custom ROM? I'm on cloudyflex I need to try this. ROM has a hide keys option per app anyway
Do you still have custom recovery??
OK unrooted play store says SkyGo is not compatible with my device. Got a feeling that's related to something in my build.prop can you upload yours please mate from your ROM so I can make some changes to mine to get it working? Thanks.

I've just un-rooted cloudystock with supersSU pro and kept custom recovery and everything else the same and, yes, the sky apps worked fine as did the rom . For me, this is just what I wanted and I was very surprised that it works, including hide nav keys.
Now I want to try to create a completely stock 80220d but with the navbar mod included then unroot it. I have pm'd cloudya about which files from the cloudy stock rom that I require but haven't had a reply yet.
....didn't you create a flashable 80220d zip somewhere? I can't seem to find it. I am not very experienced at this and I guess by your response that you are interested in the same thing and perhaps you will be better at this than me?
EDIT I changed ro.build.target_country from COM to EU for another reason. Perhaps this might help?
I changed fingerprint and a few other bits back to d802 in build.prop, removed root. Now running cloudyflex. Can hide keys per app in options. And can watch sky go. Perfect.

[Q] stock + towelroot + xposed... what about ota updates ?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before, search didn't answer the question for my specific case....
I have an S5 G900F currently still on 4.4.2, I have rooted using towelroot following link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/tut-root-tripping-knox-t2803951
I installed also xposed framework and a bunch of modules to get rid of those pesky popups samsung implemented.
I would like to check for and install new ota updates, question is what will happen with the setup above?
Will it work, will I lose root, will I lose all xposed modules and settings, will it brick my phone, ...
Thanks!
B
Seems that everyone says that they have searched although we know that most people really didn't. Glad you tried searching, although it's difficult to understand how you didn't trip over numerous threads where your exact questions have been asked and answered before.
Anyway, most updates will remove root and may mess up a lot of apps that require root. It's best to apply updates manually with Odin, rather than accept them OTA. If you insist on automatic updates, then you should buy an app like mobile odin pro or super su pro that will try to regain root after an update is applied.

Had a lot of problems with xposed and it's modules messing with some samsung apps, for example s-health went mental, wouldn't open and slowed the phone down to a crawl, as I own the gear fit it wasn't good for me to keep it on, had to roll back, personally I don't think theres a huge difference between the two firmwares, i'd say if you're happy then keep your phone the way it is. At least until 4.4.4. is releaed.

Viper4android not working [LP]

Hey guys .. Really didnt wanted to open a new thread but i was reading through many threads in the past days and didnt find a solution. Ive installed viper4android as system app and changed selinux to permissive. But it just doesnt work
Is there anybody facing the same or is there anything i missed?
Thanks in advance
This is what driver status says...
Btw im on lp 30b with stock kernel
I'm getting the same problem on my ls980 (Sprint var.)
I'm running a lollipop ROM, (Resurrection Remix)
This is in lollipop 5.1, however.
Very sad though... I LOVE viper. Probably one of my biggest reasons for root, besides custom ROMs and Xposed.
Hopefully this will be looked into.
---EDIT---
My driver status is listed as abnormal, and not enabled.
Probably means I'm even worse off than you

I'm on D802 lollipop and viper4android installed. It worked very nicely for few days. But suddenly stopped working. I've tried reinstalling many times and even added the build.prop settings mentioned in one thread.
But now it just doesn't work. The status says abnormal. And whenever I open the app, music stops playing. Hope someone can help us.

Check my guide for poweramp and v4a, it might just be the thing to fix it.
Thanks man. It turned out that somehow my selinux had become enforcing. Changed it to permissive and things work as expected.
Check ,,Use ,,NuPlayer'' '' in developer setting.
And install SELinux Enabler script via recovery : http://blastagator.ddns.net/dorimanx.php

[Q] Xposed Framework not supported on my Coolpad Note 3(CP8676-I02)

I own a Coolpad Note 3 running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and packs MT6753 MediaTek 64-bit octacore processor and 3GB RAM. After rooting this device, when I installed Xposed Framework, though it installed successfully but shows a message that this version isn't supported yet. What is this message and when is this platform going to get supported. This was heartbreaking because the major reason of rooting the device was this Framework.
What version of Xposed did you attempt to install? What method did you use to install? What does it say in the log file? We cannot help you without this information.

First, I tried official version of Xposed Installer for lollipop devices. It was a failure(a message popped out after installing that Xposed is not yet supported on this processor platform). Then I referred to the blog Android Beat(How to install Xposed framework on Android 5.1 Lollipop) and downloaded this file "xposed-v78-sdk22-arm64.zip". I flashed it using custom recovery based on CWM. I was stuck in a boot loop after that. Then I was left with no option but to flash my stock ROM as I had no backup at that time.

Please refer to the official Xposed for Lollipop thread, especially post #2. There you'll find an FAQ about common issues and a table to identify the correct Xposed version. You need to flash the correct .zip file through recovery (as you have done before) and install the Xposed_Installer_alpha3.apk afterwards. After flashing, wipe cache&dalvik, as Xposed alters a lot of files in your system, so this step is highly recommended. If this does not solve your issue, search the thread, there have been several questions about Mediatek compatibility before.
Your initial error (Xposed not compatible) was due to the fact that you tried to install the old Xposed installer for KitKat, which is not compatible with Lollipop.
Noted.
I am definitely going to refer to that thread and will update here after that. Thanks for your precious time.
Some advancements
A guy using Coolpad note 3 tried a method to install Xposed and it worked(to some extent though). What he did was he installed busybox, flashed the Xposed zip files. After rebooting, he still got caught in a bootloop but after 15-20 boot loops(seems like it depends on no. of apps installed as each time his phone booted, percentage of optimising apps increased), he was finally able to start his phone. Now under Xposed settings, he checked disable resourced hooks and rebooted. He got Xposed Framework active status after rebooting. A no. of apps which modify UI like gravitybox, xblastools, greenify in root mode etc were not working. But a few others worked quiet well. Could anyone throw some light on this issue?

Unless you're the one trying it, and you can supply full logcats for the entire multi-reboot process, we probably can't know for sure.

I will try it myself and hopefully provide logcats for the entire multi-boot process.
Can you please share which version of xposed you used because I did the same and it was stuck on bootloop then I realized that the % of starting up apps was increasing gradually but after 3-4 attemps it went down and started from zero and so I flashed it again.
I think the issue is that i used xposed arm64-v78 sdk22 but my device is arm64-v8a, and I guess xposed is not yet released for arm64-v8a sdk22 devices.
So finally with this thread I got a hope to try it again and please share as much info as you can coz its gonna help others a lot

You can find the uninstaller in the same thread where you have found the correct Xposed framework version for your device. Use the same specs (SDK version, ARM version) as for the Xposed framework for the uninstaller and flash it. Don't forget to wipe cache&dalvik afterwards.

Do it. At your own risk.
If you do it please let us know the results and which version you flashed.
I was also wondering about Viper4Android. I could really use the boost and equalizer.
Can you either nandroid back or flash a stock image if things go south? Can you even flash zips in TWRP yet without issue? You're rolling a big pair if you can't do either.
Is there an xposed for Nougat? Rumor says no. Rumor confirmed.

To be honest, there's really not much benefit at all to rooting yet. Yet people spend hours upon hours of aggravation trying to do so, with many of them that shouldn't be anywhere near an ADB command.
It's the same story with every new phone. The "root commandos."
Xposed isn't working for Nougat I thought

It's Working Now. Don't Use Material Xposed Installer. Use The official Xposed Installer APK which is 3.1.2 Currently. Otherwise None Of The Modules Will Work.

I was just thinking the same thing... i've almost always rooted and modified my phones.. but I think it was usually for a specific purpose or need..
the older phones I had were running touchwiz.. which i HATED to use.. so was so eager to get ROM with more of a stock android..
Or how I would love having some of the features of Cyanogenmod.. like "ScreenShot" or Reboot menu ... but with the V20.. it has screen shot built in beautifully..
I know it was also nice to be able to install titanium backup and be able to delete a lot of the stock bloatware .. but the V20 doesn't have much.. plus I can disable most of them...
I do wish I could find a rom that may run a little faster... I have noticed some Hiccups with this phone.. and 1 or 2 random reboots.. but honestly i'm sure if I went with custom software or modifed with Xposed.. i could see that more..
It would be interesting to see what some of the reasons why people on here have rooted the V20.

Mega ROM On 7.0 Stock Kernel With SU. If You Have TWRP, Back Up Just In Case. Download Xposed Installer And In Settings There Is An Installation Option, Choose Manual (This Will Save Downloaded Files So You Can Flash Manually From SD) go To The Main Screen And You Can Get Both The Official framework And The Uninstaller.

I never did root my V20. I'm on the Note 8 now and can't see any benefit of rooting it, either.
I'm really fond of Android Pay. I'm pretty fond of my phone working as it should all day every day. To one degree or the other, you lose that with root. SystemUI tuner will do quite a bit of Xposed's work, and I'm not so annoyed with ads that I feel a need for Adaway.

It's Working Now. Don't Use Material Xposed Installer. Use The official Xposed Installer APK which is 3.1.2 Currently. Otherwise None Of The Modules Will Work.

Dl the APK, sdk24 arm64 version of xposed, and the Uninstaller. Install the APK and allow the app to install xposed through recovery. It will begin install, prompt to reboot in recovery, obviously select okay. Then it's an automatic process. Initial boot up time takes a while so be patient. Everything should be good to go after that. Good luck!
BTW I'm on h918, stock 10q.
I have YouTube adblock, boot manager, xposed torch, and stay awake for now. I feel like a nerd being excited about xposed. This is making the v20 even better!

I installed the original version first. Once it was up and running, I flashed the new version.
